:: Dear Tarika ::

.

Dear Tarika,

I'm writing this to you because all my feelings for you, your impact on my life and the countless things you've taught me have all filled my heart to the brim now, and while, they will reside there in that special corner forever, they must reach out to you and thank you for everything that you've given me all these years.

I recall the day I first saw you 13 years ago, running on the treadmill in the forensic lab – the place you later went on to worship and proudly made your home. In that moment, your face radiated confidence, dignity and shine and you continued to don in your entire tenure, never failing even in the hardest of times. You taught me to cradle that confidence, to carry that poise and indirectly, told me to take life in my stride and face it no matter how many challenges it throws on me.

The way you were always willing to learn something new from your senior who you so lovingly looked up to as a father taught me there's hardly anything in the world more valuable than modesty and respect. For others, for your work and most importantly, for your own self. You never thought twice before standing up to your colleagues, your friends who had been wronged or accused due to no fault of theirs. Your righteousness, ethics and ideals were an inspiration for me on various levels.

Your job was your passion and you put your heart and soul into it, never once deviating from it or failing to give it your everything. Your boundless dedication, your fervent devotion to your work motivated me to stay loyal to what I love and follow it religiously.

You were not perfect. You had your flaws, you had your imperfections. But those too served as an insight for why I should embrace my life how it is and to be content with what I have in me and still excel at whatever I do.

Words fall short to write about your unconditional love for the man whose side you refused to leave in spite of sharing a relationship with no vocal commitment, in spite of being well aware of his perilous job, his uncontrollable bouts of fury and unpredictable future. You remained firm and supported him in times his life was in danger, you were there for him when he needed you and you stood by him, defended his integrity when it was questioned and even took a bullet for him. Your persistent patience in putting up and being dedicated to a man who could or could not guarantee you a safe life together was indeed commendable.

There were times your eyes were enough to communicate to him what dwelled in your heart. But you also refused to bow down to him when he insulted your job. That taught me I can surrender everything I have to someone I love with every nerve in my body, but not at the cost of my self-respect.

As a fan, what Abhijeet was to Tarika, I'll probably never know. But one thing I can be sure of – your ardent and irrevocable love for him was strong enough to overcome all hurdles, smash all prejudices and win all the treacherous battles.

Finally, while there's so much more to say to you, and hoping someday I'll get to see you, to meet you again, for now, I'll just end here saying that you, Dr. Tarika, were, are and will always be a hero to me in more ways than I can ever count. An epitome of class, unmatched aura and elegance, you will live on me till eternity. Your unparalleled qualities will always be the reason I admire you and will continue to do so, more than anyone else. True to your name, you will forever be a star bright enough to light my moments of despair and uncertainty.

Love,

A diehard fan who will always be thankful to you.

..

That majestic gait,

It accentuates her confidence more.

Her features have been flawless, anyway.

Eyes glistening with a vibe

She lets them talk for her.

The fire in them,

She refuses to dwindle.

Enchanting. Captivating.

It gives me a sense of gratification

As I sit and write today,

About a girl

The queen of finesse;

Her lustrous curls,

She wears like a crown.

Embodying her name,

She's a star in every sense

Her aura supreme, scintillating

Oh so gracefully,

She devours the murk around her.

An epitome of perseverance

Far away, the moon smiles at her tenacity

And placid winds bow down to her.
