So after some really lovely reviews- thank you so much- I am updating. You are a loyal lot and that deserves recognition. I have some time as this was already written and there has been a delay in the mountain of work about to befall me ( I am melodramatic just like our favourite spider). Hope you enjoy, there are rumblings in the back ground. What happened to Harley? Where is Nat?

Reviews release updates.

Salutations.

Peter built a web swing on the ceiling and hauled his sister up. They sat together, as he swung it high and fast; Morgan screaming in terrified delight.

Steve stopped at the door and watched them, lost in their own safe sanctuary- two little kids having fun whilst the world fell apart around them. He smiled indulgently.

''Photo FRI and send it to Tony,'' he said softly.

''Of course sir.''

''What are you doing?'' Steve forced himself to be stern.

''It was his idea,'' Morgan snitched on her brother with no hesitation.

''Wow thanks Morgs, way to throw me under a bus,'' Peter laughed.

''Down, both of you down now!'' Steve waved his arm.

Peter lowered Morgan on a web.

''I love Peter, I really love him Pops. He's so much fun- he's gonna jump off the landing bay which is real high. He's so brave,'' Morgan skipped over to Steve and took his hand. Peter was already a complete hero in her eyes.

Steve shot an admonishing look at Peter as the boy leapt down. Peter did at least have the grace to blush.

''Is he? And how little miss is he going to do that? When we all know that going to the landing bay without a grown up is against the rules, very much against the rules,'' Steve scolded her and she bit her lip nervously- Pops sounded angry and he never got angry with her, never, ever.

She looked over at her brother who was suddenly reluctant to come anywhere near his father- not at all sure his previous assertion was correct.

''Should you be thinking of jumping off the landing bay Peter James?'' Steve used the dreaded middle name and Peter scowled- he shrugged.

''That is not an answer. Try again,'' Steve managed to stay firm although it was a battle.

''No sir,'' Peter complied and Steve nodded. That was better- he'd begun to think Peter had forgotten all his manners.

''Exactly and be told, if either of you,'' Steve waved a scolding finger at them.

''Either of you go on the landing bay without an adult you will be in big trouble, the kind of trouble that smarts and it will really smart! Do you hear me?''

Both kids nodded. Steve sighed.

''I'm sorry I can't hear you,'' he put his hands on his hips.

''Yes Daddy,'' Morgan pouted.

''Yes sir,'' Peter looked up with shifty eyes- Steve saw it immediately.

''Peter, do not think for one second that I will not carry through with that threat. I am very, very happy that you are finally home but I am NOT going to stand by and allow you to be taken from us again because of some dumb stunt. One foot on that landing bay without permission and you will get a tanning you will still feel at Christmas. You have been warned!'' Steve went for fear of God; it wasn't entirely successful.

Peter fidgeted on his feet, avoiding his father's eyes- it was obvious he had no intention of obeying that rule.

Steve made up his mind, time to get even more assertive.

''Hand them over,'' Steve held out his hand and Peter shook his head- stepping back.

''Now Peter!'' Steve raised his voice as he closed the distance between them. Peter sighed and looked up at his father. He was so tall and Peter knew he was serious about the spanking- Pop's spankings were legendary he remembered that very clearly; so he gave the web shooters to Steve with no further argument.

''These, you will get back when and only when Dad and I decide you can have them, got it?'' Steve said and Peter nodded.

Really? Steve's internal voice said to him.

''Sorry? I didn't hear that,'' Steve stared at Peter.

''Yes sir,'' he fell into line quickly.

''Thank you,'' Steve acknowledged the polite response.

''So Daddy's lab? Are you allowed in here alone?'' Steve looked between his pair of miscreants.

''No Pops,'' Peter replied quietly and Morgan shook her head.

''No, you are not, so you get a pass this time. Do it again and you will be in big trouble. Is that clear to everyone?''

Both children nodded.

Steve sighed; he just didn't have the inclination to make the same point yet again so he let it ride.

Tony had asked to see the kids now he was fully awake; as always Steve was putty in his hands despite the fact he thought his husband should be resting.

''Good, now come on. We're going to visit daddy as he wants to see you guys,'' Steve picked up Morgan and held his hand out to Peter; the boy hesitated for about a second then took it.

Steve smiled to himself as he told FRIDAY to lock down the lab.

Round one to Cap!

Tony was sitting up eating pudding when they walked into the room.

He grinned, clearly amused.

''So Smalls, you have been home less than a day and have already provoked Pop's wrath,'' he winked at Steve as he spoke. Clearly, FRIDAY had kept him up to date.

''He's so grumpy. I didn't actually do anything,'' Peter climbed up next to Tony.

''Really? Is that right? You went on the landing bay without an adult and you broke into my lab, so you were in there alone. Did you forget the rules?'' Tony tapped the side of Peter's leg.

''Yeah, I went away remember?'' Peter pulled a disgruntled face.

''Oh Smalls, you can't kid a kidder. Nice try though! You behave yourself and stop giving Pops a hard time. You hear me?'' Tony scolded Peter who went bright red. He shrugged and hid his face in Tony's side.

''No way, what do you need to say to Pops?'' Tony patted Peter's behind with his good hand; a love pat but carrying a clear message.

''Sorry Pops,'' Peter said grumpily without moving and Tony rolled his eyes.

''Try again,'' he said patting slightly harder this time.

Peter sat up with a mutinous mutter.

''Sorry Pops, I won't go on the landing bay or in the lab without permission again. Sorry,'' Peter blinked deep brown doe eyes and Steve couldn't help but laugh at the histrionics.

''Apology accepted, but you have been warned of the consequences if you do!'' Steve pointed at him and Peter nodded.

''Yeah I know,'' he muttered. Jeez, his parents were so full on! Didn't they know he'd been to space so wasn't a regular kid anymore? Not that he had been for a long time, yet they still treated him that way.

He climbed off the bed and went over to the door; he began to kick the wall irritably.

Steve looked at Tony who blew out an exasperated breath- okay so that had not gone so well.

''Visit over then kiddo?'' Tony called over to Peter who completely ignored him.

Tony looked at Steve who pulled a despairing face.

''Need to be patient babes,'' he said quietly and Tony nodded- yeah maybe he shouldn't have gone in so strong. He just wanted life to return to normal but it didn't look like that would be as easy as he'd hoped.

Morgan watched all this with intense curiousity; Daddy was being so stern- she had never heard him be that way before. Okay, maybe with Harley but not with her, never with her.

''Hey sweet girl, do I get a cuddle?'' Tony turned his attention to his other adorable munchkin.

Morgan giggled and wrapped herself around Tony, he sighed and kissed her head.

''Okay princess; time for dinner then bed. Pete, let's go,'' Steve picked his daughter from her father's arms then held out his hand to Peter who ignored him as well; he walked out of the room without a backward glance.

Steve looked at Tony- the hurt evident on his face.

''He's just sulking. It's gonna take a while for him to adjust,'' Steve softened the blow.

''Yeah I know,'' Tony tried to be philosophical.

''I will be back later. We can watch a movie together and talk. Love you,'' Steve said and Tony nodded- yeah some alone time with his husband would help- figure out how they were going to handle this.

''Love you too,'' Tony replied, although he was troubled- they had spoilt Morgan, they both knew it.

It was understandable after losing Peter, however now he was back- how did they reconcile that? Morgan was used to getting her own way and it was not going to wash now Peter was back in the mix. He was still only twelve, reckless and impetuous; he required strict boundaries- he always had. That wasn't going to work if they continued to indulge Morgan.

It was a recipe for disaster as it now proved for Steve.

''I want sushi for dinner daddy?'' Morgan was not helping by being a little madam as they walked over to where Peter was waiting by the elevator- he raised resentful eyes and Steve recoiled at the boy's anger- this was going from bad to worse.

''Sushi? You eat sushi? Who eats sushi at five? '' Peter stared at his sister like she was an alien.

''I like sushi don't I Daddy?'' Morgan was her precocious best.

Steve froze, caught between his children- how should he react?

''Yeah of course you do, you little brat!'' Peter shook his head and started to kick the wall again.

''Peter called me a brat and that hurt my feelings,'' Morgan looked at her father expectantly.

Steve cringed, why did Peter say that? Now he had to scold him and he really didn't want to.

''Peter, don't call your sister mean names,'' he said very half- heartedly.

Peter pulled a disgusted face and kicked the wall harder creating a repetitive sound that was really annoying, which was the point!

''You have to say sorry to me now cos you hurt my feelings,'' Morgan proclaimed proudly; as much as she loved Peter, she was going to assert her elevated position in their family. She was not about to allow Peter to replace her as the favoured child.

Steve knew he had lost control of this altercation.

''Say sorry Pete,'' Steve responded nervously- please kiddo just defuse this for me, please.

Peter stared at him, his outrage clear then he smiled, the devil shining in his eyes.

Steve gulped. Oh no!

''FRI, order me Burgers, I want two double cheeseburgers, large dirty fries and the biggest Mountain Dew they have, Oh and some ice cream, a quart of chocolate Ice-cream,'' Peter called up.

''Of course Peter, it is on its way. Captain Rogers, I have ordered sushi for everyone else as I believe that is what Morgan wants for dinner,'' FRIDAY followed up- Morgan often chose dinner and they let her- which had now come back to bite them or more precisely Steve who was bearing the brunt.

''But I want a cheeseburger!'' Morgan wailed and Steve glared at Peter.

''Too bad, you like sushi remember?'' Peter smirked as he stepped into the elevator that had just arrived.

''Cheeseburgers for everyone FRIDAY! With all the sides!'' Steve snapped on instinct.

Morgan cheered and Peter's scowl returned.

Peter was now the one glaring- betrayal was shining in his eyes, his body language defensive and angry.

''Wow Pops, whipped much? Guess I am the wrong gender which is real funny if you think about it? You never let me have what I want ever, now or back in the day! Guess she's special! Real special!'' Peter glowered at Morgan then raised his chin defiantly. Steve took a moment to formulate his reply- which was the wrong choice.

Thankfully, Morgan stayed silent as she watched them curiously.

''You are not drinking Mountain Dew just before bedtime,'' Steve tried to assert some authority.

''Aren't I? You gonna stop me? And I am way too old for a bedtime,'' Peter retorted immediately.

''You can't have Mountain Dew, that's a treat isn't it daddy,'' Morgan looked up at Steve with a coy smile.

Steve then knew beyond any doubt he was completely out of his depth.

''If I want Mountain Dew then I am having Mountain Dew and you aren't stopping me!'' Peter stamped his foot petulantly.

So, its not all rainbows and cuddles. It was never going to be. I am not portraying Morgan as a brat, but quite understandably she is a little spoilt.

Let me know what you think.

Stay safe all
