In a desolate city, a blue-haired boy wearing a long black and green winter coat, black pants, and black boots was sitting on top of a rusted vehicle. He was leaning forward onto a thin white and blue sword that was stabbed into the ground.
"Aichi!" A voice called from behind. Aichi turned and saw a brunette walking to him who was wearing the same uniform as him. He was carrying a bowl of soup with him. "I think we went far enough. We saved a lot of kids already," he suggested while holding out the bowl to Aichi.
"Thank you," Aichi thanked before taking the bowl into his hands. "There should be more out there." He looked out to the distant and his voice showed unwillingness to return back.
"Kai's right. It would be safer if we brought the kids back first," a pink-haired girl agreed. Aichi ate his food while looking in the direction of the temporary camp that they had set up. There were scared kids sitting around unwilling to interact with the soldiers around them. Other people wearing the same uniform as Aichi, Kai and Misaki were trying to distribute food to the kids.
Aichi finished eating quickly and stood up. Misaki took Aichi's bowl off of his hands so that he could pull his sword out of the ground and sheathed his sword into his scabbard. When the sword was pulled out, a blue barrier around the area became visible and disappeared. "Alright. Let's head back," he agreed before beginning to walk together to the campsite.
"Don't put up a barrier for too long. You'll get exhausted in an hour," Misaki scolded him.
"I know. But I want to make sure everyone is safe," Aichi responded. When they reached the campsite, the kids ran to Aichi and hugged him.
"Aichi! Where did you go?!" The kids cried.
"I was making sure that the area was safe. I'm sorry if I made all of you worried," Aichi apologized while brushing their heads.
"When we get back, they are going to stick to you like glue. They need to get used to you not being around, bro," a younger boy said. He had a rifle strapped onto his back and he was wearing a soldier uniform as well.
"But it's still dangerous here. We are still pretty far from the city," Aichi responded. The kids all began crying. "What's wrong?!" Aichi asked panicked.
"Will we be alright?" They asked.
Aichi knelt down. "You will all be fine. We'll head back to the city right now, so you should all get in the truck. I'll sit at the back with all of you so it will be fine," he assured them. The kids ran to the back of the truck where there was no roof. The front of the truck that had a roof only had two seats.
"Aichi, Kamui has a point. You should make some distance with the kids," a blond boy agreed.
"I should, but not right now," Aichi responded. Kamui, Kai, and Misaki were already ready to go. Kai and Misaki were in the front of the truck.
"Where's Naoki?" Aichi asked while looking around.
"Yuki ran off, so the scary man ran after her that way," one of the kids informed him while pointing at a street with old rundown buildings.
"Ran off out of the barrier?!" Aichi exclaimed. He jumped off of the truck and began running.
"Hey! Where are you going?! We should just wait here!" The blond yelled so that he could hear him.
"Miwa! Take care of them! I'll go look!" Aichi responded. He ran around and searched when he suddenly heard a scream. He ran that direction and found Naoki and Yuki in a building. A vampire was drinking Naoki's blood while holding onto Yuki's wrist.
Aichi unsheathed his sword. The vampire noticed him and pulled Yuki between them before he could swing. She was crying, "Aichi, help…"
"No... Aichi…! Run…!" Naoki cried.
Aichi was thinking over the situation and turned his back to them. "No choice. I need him to get away from them," Aichi said to himself before he began running.
"Aichi!" Yuki screamed in disbelief. Aichi turned back and used his sword to cut his arm. Blood dripped down from his arm and the vampire caught the smell quickly.
The vampire pulled away from Naoki and loosened his grip on Yuki. "The smell… it smells…" he muttered. "It smells delicious!" He exclaimed with glowing red eyes. He released them both and ran to Aichi with amazing speed.
Aichi swung his sword, but the vampire dodged it and appeared behind him. "Blaster Blade!" Aichi called. He stabbed his sword into the ground and a bolt of electricity shot up from the ground.
"Who are you-?" Upon making contact, the vampire turned to dust.
After sheathing his sword, he walked to them covering the bleeding cut with his hand. "Are you both okay?" Aichi asked.
"Aichi… the scary man…! It's my fault…!" Yuki cried loudly. Aichi brushed her on the head to calm her down.
"It's okay. You're safe, that all that matters," Aichi assured her. He knelt down and checked on Naoki. He took his hand and felt for a pulse. He was relieved to feel one. "He just needs some rest," he informed her before pulling Naoki on his back. He kept Naoki on his back with one hand and held onto Yuki's hand with the other.
Yuki looked at the cut on Aichi's forearm that was still bleeding. "I'm sorry, Aichi…" she apologized to him.
Aichi turned and smiled. "This is nothing. But you should apologize to Naoki when he wakes up," he responded. Yuki nodded sadly. When they got back to the truck, he saw Kai, Misaki, Kamui, and Miwa fighting vampires.
"I guess it was a good idea to wipe out the vampires in the area! Aichi must have gotten cut again!" Miwa joked. The fighting occured a good distance from the truck and they were only coming from one side of the street.
Aichi dropped off Yuki on the truck and laid Naoki down before joining the fight. When he got close, all the vampires turned their sights to him. "Look who showed up," Miwa said.
"Sorry, guys, it was an emergency," Aichi apologized to them. He sliced through the vampires with ease. The vampires disappeared with his clean strike.
"Don't get make yourself bleed!" Misaki scolded him. She used her sword to cut through one of the vampires moving to his direction.
"Okay, I won't," Aichi responded. When they were done, Misaki treated him in the truck. She tied a strand of fabric around the top of Aichi's forearm and pulled tight which made him winced.
"We need to stop the bleeding before it attracts more of them," Misaki said. She wiped Aichi's wound with an alcohol-drenched cloth and stitched it. When she was done, she released the knot on the fabric.
"Thank you, Misaki," Aichi thanked.
"You don't need such a wide cut. They can smell it clearly with just a drop of blood," Kai said.
"I wasn't really paying attention to that," Aichi responded with a laugh. Misaki wrapped a bandage around the stitches to cover the smell more before pulling his sleeve down.
"That should mask the scent enough for the road back to the city. Now let's head back," Misaki ordered. Kai drove while Misaki was guiding him. Aichi sat at the back with Naoki, Miwa, Kamui, and the kids. The kids sat extremely close to him, he didn't even have much room to move.
On the way, Naoki soon woke up. "Naoki, are you alright?" Aichi asked.
Naoki looked around and shot up. "That girl! Is she alright?!" He exclaimed.
"She's fine," Aichi assured. Yuki leaned towards Naoki shyly.
"I'm sorry! You and Aichi got hurt because of me! I'm really really sorry!" Yuki cried. Naoki blushed and turned away embarrassing.
"Whatever. As long as you aren't hurt," Naoki responded. Yuki smiled. "Aichi, are you alright?" He asked.
"I'm fine. I just got the vampire away from you with my blood," Aichi assured. "I wonder why they are so attracted to my blood. Is it only because..." He was going to get lost in his thoughts, but Miwa slapped him on the back.
"We should stay alert in case more of them appear. We went pretty far off, so it will take a few days to get back," Miwa suggested.
"We should get some rest now while we're in the car. At night we'll take turns keeping watch," Kamui suggested.
"I can put up the barrier," Aichi volunteered.
"You get exhausted really quickly, there is no way you can keep it up for the entire night," Naoki announced.
"It's probably better if we do shifts, we can do it in pairs. What do you think, Kai, Misaki?" Miwa asked. He was the closest to the front of the car so they could hear him from inside. Kai gave a thumbs up. "I guess it's settled then. We'll be in pairs," he said.
Aichi smiled warmly. "Alright. If you guys insist," he agreed.
"Hey, Aichi. Get some rest right now. You stayed up a while yesterday for watch duty," Naoki said.
"Is that okay?" Aichi asked. He looked tired.
"It's fine. You used a lot of energy today too. You can't protect the kids without being at full strength," Miwa agreed. Aichi looked around and the kids were encouraging him.
"Okay," Aichi agreed. He gathered the kids and encouraged them to sleep as well. Once the kids around him were dozing off, he closed his eyes and quickly fell asleep.
"I guess he was really tired after all. Look how quickly he fell asleep," Misaki commented. Kai nodded while looking at the rearview mirror. "Let's hope it will be a smooth ride home. We did clear the way on the way there," she said.
They kept driving until late at night. "We should stop here for tonight. We are about halfway there," Misaki informed.
Kai nodded and scratched his eyes. After driving for so long, his eyes were sore. They got out of the front and walked to the back. Miwa was the only one awake.
"It looks like all the kids are asleep," Miwa joked while looking at the large group of sleeping bodies. Aichi woke up since the truck stopped.
"Are we camping out here?" Aichi asked quietly. Kai nodded. "I guess there is no point in waking up the kids. Kai, Misaki, Miwa, you guys should get some rest. I'll take the first shift," he ordered.
"You should wake up Naoki to keep watch with you," Misaki said.
"No... I'll be fine," Aichi assured them while trying to get out of the pile of kids. The three looked at each other with a worried look, but they knew there was no point in trying to reason with him.
"Well, wake us up if you need anything," Miwa agreed. Kai and Misaki agreed grudgingly as well. Aichi gently got out of the vehicle. Kai had parked it so that one side was against the wall to make it easier to guard. Miwa, Misaki, and Kai went to sleep. Aichi stood there alone with his sword unsheathed.
Aichi stood there all night. "It was good that we cleared the way before," he said to himself as he stretched. The sun was rising when he suddenly heard plane propellers. He looked up and saw planes flying from above. There were vampires dropping from the sky.
"How did they know where we were?" Aichi asked himself. The vampires were getting close, so Aichi stabbed his sword into the ground and a barrier appeared. The vampires that made contact with the barrier disintegrated. However, since he was up all night, he knew it wouldn't hold for long.
"Guys! Vampires are here!" Aichi shouted loudly. Everyone soon woke up and got up. The kids stayed on the car with Kamui. Naoki, Miwa, Kai, and Misaki ran to Aichi's side. They looked around and saw the vampires right outside of the barrier waiting for it to come down.
"There are a lot of them..." Misaki commented while looking around.
"How did they find us?" Kamui asked.
Aichi felt a sudden strong presence and turned in the direction. There was a large impact on the barrier and it shattered easily. "What?! The barrier!" Kamui exclaimed. Aichi pulled his sword out of the ground and blocked the sword that was about to strike him. The vampire was so fast that he didn't even see him until he was right in front of him.
Other vampires appeared and forced everyone apart. Aichi put both his hands on the handle and pushed back on the vampire in front of him. "Hm…? It seems I guessed right, you are the leader of this squad," the vampire he was fighting commented.
"Who are you? You're different from the others," Aichi asked. The vampire suddenly disappeared and he fell forward a little. He felt the presence behind him so he pulled his sword behind him to block the attack. "He's fast…" Aichi thought.
Aichi took a few steps forward before stabbing his sword into the ground. Aichi began glowing and a bolt of electricity shot out from the ground. The bolt scaved the vampire that was about to step forward to attack him. He turned quickly before the vampire could continue attacking him.
"You are strangely strong and fast for a human," the vampire commented. Aichi took a glance at the vampire's arm and saw that his sleeve was burnt. "Don't look away, boy!" The vampire ran behind Aichi again, and gave him a push and a stab. The sword stabbed into Aichi's side and he began bleeding. He held in his cry of pain.
The scent of his blood filled the air and all vampires stopped. They slowly turned to Aichi ready to attack him. "Guys! Kill them now!" Kai ordered. Everyone killed as many of vampires as they could.
"The smell of your blood…" the vampire said while paralyzed by the amazing scent. Aichi took the chance to stab him through the stomach. He was surprised when he didn't disintegrate but the curse did spread.
"Why…?" Aichi asked.
The vampire used his hand to pull the sword out of him and leaned in. "Remember this name, boy. The thirteenth progenitor, Crowley Eusford," Crowley whispered into Aichi's ear before disappearing.
"They're gone," Kamui informed.
Aichi fell on the ground covering his wound with his hand. There were still more vampires but they were easily taken care of by the rest of his squad. When they were all defeated, Naoki helped Aichi up. Aichi winced at the movement.
"Aichi, you'll be okay. Hang in there!" Misaki exclaimed.
Aichi nodded and forced a smile. "I'll be fine…" he said. Miwa and Naoki helped Aichi into the car where the kids watched scared. They made room for him. The kids who saw Aichi's wound screamed and covered their eyes. Some cried. "Don't worry, I'll be fine. It's nothing too serious," Aichi assured them.
Misaki took the first aid kit and ran to Aichi. Kai carefully used his sword to cut Aichi's shirt so that the wound could be cleaned. Misaki got on the back of the car and pulled out a spray from the first aid kit. "This will hurt," she informed. Aichi bit his sleeve and prepared himself. She sprayed Aichi's wound which made him cry in pain.
Naoki and Miwa were holding his legs down and Kai was holding Aichi's left arm. After the chemical set in, Aichi calmed down. Misaki rubbed an ointment on the wound before bandaging him up. They pulled Aichi up and had him sit near the front of the car. Misaki and Miwa went to the front so that they can be on their way. Miwa was now driving so that Kai can keep watch of Aichi to make sure he was alright.
"What did he say to you?" Kai asked.
"He told me to remember his name. He told me he was the thirteenth progenitor, Crowley Eusford," Aichi answered.
"That means you defeated a Progenitor! That's amazing, bro!" Kamui cheered.
Aichi looked down. "I don't think he's gone. He's still alive out there," he responded. He turned to the kids and saw that they were scared. "Don't be scared. With the curse, he won't come back," he assured them. The kids cuddled around Aichi.
"But he was able to hurt you. You're strong… and he hurt you…" a kid cried while looking at Aichi's wound.
"I'm fine. People who fight can get wounded by any enemy. So don't worry about me," Aichi repeated while patting their heads.
"You should get some rest, Aichi. You've been awake all night," Naoki said.
"Okay. I do feel a little tired," Aichi responded. The kids stayed close to him as he fell asleep.
Meanwhile, a plane flying in the sky spotted a wounded Crowley that was bleeding. "My wound isn't closing, so that was a cursed gear… but it was white…" he said before falling forward.
A man stood above him. "Crowley, what happened? Lost a fight to a human?" The man asked tauntingly.
"Ferid…" Crowley growled.
"Tell me about it when we get back. The information you have is useless if you're dead," Ferid responded. He carried Crowley onto the plane and they flew off. "Whoever made this wound, must be moderately skillful. A clean swing on the 13th Progenitor is quite a feat. It must be quite embarassing..." he teased.
"The boy that I fought… his blood… the smell was overwhelming. I was barely able to hold myself back…" Crowley explained. Ferid did notice that he was breathing heavily as if he was fighting the urge to go back and feed.
"Then you should have had your meal," Ferid responded.
"I would have shredded him to pieces. I didn't want that… he would be an intriguing new vampire," Crowley explained. "His speed, his strength… it is already to par with a common vampire. I wonder how strong he would be as one of us," he added.
Late that day, Aichi's squad made it to the city. There were some other people in the same uniform as them on standby just outside of the wall. "We are an expedition squad. We were away for 5 days," Miwa informed them from inside the car. The guards walked to the back, and saw a bunch of kids and Aichi breathing heavily. The blood was pooling through the bandage. "You see, we are in a rush. Our leader got injured by a progenitor, so let us in quickly," Miwa explained.
The guards let them pass the gates. They went to the hospital first.
A bunch of soldiers were waiting for them at the entrance. "We have orders to take Aichi Sendou to the labs," they informed them with a serious tone.
"Hey! They already took enough from him and he has lost a lot from his wound already!" Naoki exclaimed angrily.
"They are orders from the general," they explained to them.
"You jerks! He's not your-!" Kamui exclaimed in outrage. He was ready to punch the guys in front of him, but Kai stopped him. "Hey! Kai!"
"Take him," Kai said.
"Thank you for your cooperation," they thanked them. Two people in white coats wheeled in a hospital bed and they placed Aichi on it. They took Aichi's scabbard and made sure to strap him in tightly. Aichi was taken away while the kids were getting checked on by nurses. Miwa, Kai, Misaki, Kamui and Naoki could only stand to the side and let them take him away.
"Man, Aichi won't be happy to see that he's back in the lab when he wakes up. Whenever we come back, the general always requests more of his blood," Miwa commented.
"None of us can disobey orders. If they want his blood, Aichi needs to give it to them," Kai responded.
"Damn! I wish we get to see him while he's there! When he comes back home, he's always so sick!" Naoki ranted while punching the wall.
"Cool off! The kids can hear you too!" Misaki scolded.
"Miss! When can we see Aichi again?" Some kids asked excited.
Misaki smiled softly. "He is getting checked on by a doctor. It might be a few days until you can see him, so I'm sure Aichi would like to hear that you were good," she explained. The kids smiled and nodded. They ran off to their friends.
"Let's go," Kai said. They left the hospital and took their vehicle to a house close to the centre of the city.
Early in the morning, Aichi woke up. He was attached to a machine monitoring his vitals. There was an IV connected to his left arm. He turned his head to the other side and saw a tube connected to his right arm carrying his blood to a machine. He looked down to his side and saw his wound bandaged tightly. It looked like he wasn't bleeding too much anymore. He was lightheaded and when he felt like he was going to faint, the machine stopped which allowed him to rest and replenish his blood supply.
His vision was blurry, but he was able to see a man with a red and black uniform standing at his bedside. There was a doctor in the area at all times to make sure his vitals were fine. "He sustained a large wound in his left side. Otherwise, he is in perfect health," the doctor informed the man.
"We'll let him rest until his wound is healed," the man ordered. "Also, make sure he doesn't leave here," he added.
"Yes, General Hiragi," the doctor responded as he pulled the tube out of Aichi and wrapped his arm with a bandage. Aichi heard footsteps walk away as he slowly lost consciousness and fell asleep.
When he came to, he noticed he was still strapped in his bed by his wrists and ankles. He looked around and saw that no one was around. He felt stronger, so he tried to get up only to find the restraints keeping him from moving. He pulled on his restraints as hard as he could, but it wouldn't budge. "They aren't making it any easier for me…" he said to himself sadly. He looked down and saw that his side was not bandaged anymore. The wound was closing up quite quickly so there was only a large patch covering it.
"How long have I been here…?" He asked himself. The machine started up again and his blood began getting drained again.
"Hey! Let us in! We haven't seen him for almost a week!" An angry voice shouted. Aichi recognizes the voice instantly.
"Naoki?"
"I'm sorry, we are not permitted to let you through. Please make a request to General Hiragi and come back," the guard responded as calmly as he could.
"We've been requesting this for six days, so get off our backs, jerks!" Kamui exclaimed. Suddenly, the door was knocked down, and Kamui and Naoki walked through. Aichi looked up and saw them.
"Kamui, Naoki," Aichi called. Naoki and Kamui walked over to his bedside.
"Bro! You're alright!" Kamui cheered while jumping on the bed and giving him a hug.
"I am. Why did you guys come? You'll get into trouble," Aichi responded.
"We wanted to check up on you. Your wound is healing, but they're treating you like a guinea pig! I hate those Hiragi jerks!" Naoki exclaimed.
"It's okay. As long as we can live together in a safe place, I don't mind giving some blood," Aichi assured them.
Kamui got off of Aichi. "But you hate this place, bro. They already have tanks of your blood. Enough is enough!" Kamui responded.
"Why does he need this much blood anyway?" Naoki wondered.
"I heard they put it in small capsules so that civilians can use it to distract a vampire. I hope it's for saving people," Aichi responded.
"Let's go on another expedition soon! You'll get to get out of this dump," Naoki suggested.
"I would love to go on another expedition," Aichi responded. Naoki began to try to release the straps. "It's okay, Naoki. I'll just do what they say. I don't want you both to get in trouble," Aichi added with a weak smile.
"But, bro…" Kamui responded.
"You both should go back. I'll be fine," Aichi assured. They can tell that he was starting to get light-headed. "I'll probably be back home after they take enough. Go before you get in trouble," he ordered.
"But Aichi-!" Naoki exclaimed.
"Okay, bro. We'll see you tonight," Kamui said. Aichi nodded and they left. He laid back down and closed his eyes.
Later that day, Kureto visited the lab that Aichi was staying at. He walked to a different section of the lab to find a small room full of blood containers. There were other tubes going down to another room. "General Hiragi, there was a break in this morning by Sendou's subordinates," a person in a lab coat informed him. "We have enough blood to supply the seraph."
General Hiragi walked to Aichi's room and saw Aichi fast asleep. The machine wasn't draining blood from him at that moment because his heart rate rose too high. "His subordinates mentioned that he fought a progenitor?" Kureto asked.
"Yes. The ones that brought him to the lab mentioned that," he answered.
"Make sure he doesn't leave the city and bring him back to his house," Kureto ordered. "To keep him preoccupied, tell him I lifted his exception on not going to school," he added.
"Yes, General Hiragi," he responded before Kureto left. He took out the tube connecting Aichi to the machine. He detached Aichi's heart and blood pressure monitor before undoing the straps holding him down. He then waited for him to wake up.
When Aichi opened his eyes, he was a little light-headed. He turned to the side to see that everything was turned off. He pulled himself up into a sitting position. The person from before walked inside the room. "You're awake. General Hiragi ordered you to stay within the city's boundaries and attend classes until further notice. If you don't comply, you'll be released from the Japanese Imperial Demon Army," the man informed.
Aichi held his head as the man handed him his sword. "Understood," he sighed. Some members of the Demon Army pulled him up from the bed and gave him a shoulder outside. They put him in a car and drove him to his house.
"Sorry, Aichi. We had orders," the two transporting him apologized. They seemed to have high respects for him.
"It's okay. It is better if you do as you're told… It's better not to be enemies with him," Aichi responded. The one not driving turned back to see that Aichi's face was all pale.
"Hang in there, Aichi." They soon made it to his house and basically carried him inside. Misaki opened the door.
"Get him inside," she said with concern. She guided them to his room and laid him down on the bed. "Thank you for helping him here, Morikawa and Izaki," she thanked them sincerely.
"No problem. When we heard that they needed someone to bring Aichi home, we couldn't trust him with anyone else," Izaki responded as he left the sword leaning on the wall.
"Oh, right! We had to give Aichi something, but it's in the car. Personally requested by General Hiragi himself," Morikawa joked. He quickly ran to the car and picked up a school uniform. "This is for Aichi. He wanted him to go to school again so that he stays in the city. It seems that since a progenitor has seen and fought him now, he doesn't want him to get killed or get turned by one of the vampires," he explained.
"That's understandable, but all Aichi wants is to leave the city and save more children," Misaki said.
"Sounds like something Aichi would do," Izaki responded. "Hey, Misaki. We need to go, so take care of him," he informed her.
"Okay, thank you for bringing him home," Misaki thanked them again before they left the house. After seeing them off, Misaki brought a second blanket and pulled it over Aichi because he was shivering. She left his room and made something for him to eat.
Soon, the others returned home and saw Aichi's shoes at the door. "Misaki, is bro back?!" Kamui asked excitedly.
"He is. He is really sick though. He's sleeping in his room right now," Misaki responded. She took out a bowl and put some rice gruel into it. They group walked into Aichi's room and saw his pale face.
"Aichi, wake up, man. You need to eat something," Naoki said. Misaki took the spoon and held it out in front of Aichi's face. He opened his eyes slightly and shook his head.
"Come on, bro. We know they don't feed you anything while you're there," Kamui said. Aichi continued to shake his head.
Kai walked to Misaki. "Here, I'll feed him. You guys should leave the room," he ordered. The others nodded and left the room. They knew that Kai would definitely be able to make him eat. "You know that I'll make you eat no matter what, so are you going to make this easy?" He asked.
Aichi turned to the side. "Aichi, I know you don't feel that good right now, but you actually need to eat," Kai said as he pulled Aichi into a sitting position. Kai held the spoon in front of his mouth and he refused again. "Aichi, if you don't eat you won't be able to help any more kids. You need to get better for them," he said.
Aichi looked down. "I can't help them anyway… General Hiragi is making me stay in the city," he informed him sadly.
"So what? Those kids we saved a few weeks ago are still waiting to see you again. They have been crying saying it was their fault you got hurt whenever we visit them. Even today, they were crying and they didn't believe us when he assured them that you were still alive," Kai responded. Aichi was a little surprised. Kai tried again and held the spoon in front of Aichi. This time, he accepted it.
After a little while, Kai walked outside with an empty bowl. "Kai works his magic again," Miwa teased with a chuckle.
"Well, Kai is pretty straight forward. Also since Aichi was there for so long, it must have made him feel sicker than usual," Misaki guessed.
"Well, he's sleeping now. He has another day to rest before going to school right?" Kai asked.
"School?! We were all excused from that after joining the Vampire Extermination Unit," Kamui asked.
"Actually General Hiragi decided to enroll Aichi back into school to keep him in the city," Misaki informed them.
"He must have another reason. The uniform hanging in there wasn't the school we have attended before," Kai explained.
"They still gave us things to do, so I guess Aichi will be there alone," Miwa said.
"He'll be fine guys! It's Aichi we're talking about! Once he is alive and kicking, not even a progenitor can take him down easily," Naoki reminded.
"That's true. All we need to do is nurse bro back to health!" Kamui agreed. Everyone nodded.
Late at night, Aichi woke up. He was feeling a little better, but he felt extremely nauseous. He pulled himself out of bed and stumbled to the washroom. Kai heard footsteps and checked it out with his sword.
He turned to the hallway after opening his door and saw a light coming from the washroom. He looked inside and saw Aichi hunched over on the toilet seat. "It's okay. Vomit it all out if you need to. I'll reheat it for you," Kai said. He put away his sword and walked to Aichi. He knelt down and rubbed his back.
Aichi soon vomited everything he just ate. "They must have taken a lot of blood from you. You couldn't even digest this," Kai commented.
"I'm okay," Aichi assured. He took a towel and wiped his mouth. After feeding him again, they both went back to sleep.
Two days later, Aichi was feeling much better. He was able to move around and eat normal food again. He put on his school uniform and looked at himself in the mirror. He kept his sword with him but he kept it in a white sleeve. Everyone was out already doing their duties, so he made eggs to eat before leaving to school.
It was a while since he went to school and he was now in the tenth grade. He walked to school because it wasn't too far. When he reached the school, he noticed that there was a middle school building right beside the high school that he was attending. He walked to the staffroom first before walking to class with his homeroom teacher.
"Hello, my name is Aichi Sendou. I look forward to working with all of you," Aichi greeted while bowing his head. Everyone was looking at him strangely as he took his seat.
He kept his sword beside him as the lesson began. At lunch, his classmates approached him. "Hey, there are never any transfer students. Sorry if everyone was looking at you weird," one of his classmates apologized.
Aichi smiled. "It's okay, I understand," he responded.
"So, what's in that? I was just wondering," a female classmate asked.
Aichi turned to see what she was pointing at. It was his sword that was hidden by the sleeve. "Oh, that…? It's nothing," he responded.
"Could it be a sword? Are you interested in being in the Vampire Extermination Unit?"
"You can say that," Aichi answered awkwardly.
"That's so cool! Can we see your sword?"
"It's nothing special," Aichi responded. He took his sheath out of the sleeve and pulled out his white sword.
Everyone looked a little disappointed. "Sorry, I guess all of us were hoping to see a Cursed Gear. I guess we had our hopes up since people with Cursed Gears would already be fighting with the Vampire Extermination Unit and leave school."
"It's okay. I'm sorry for disappointing you guys," Aichi assured them with a smile. He decided to keep his position in the organization a secret. It was peace until they heard an explosion close by. Aichi looked outside of the window and saw smoke coming from a building beside the middle school division.
"Everyone! Evacuate the area immediately! Some vampires have escaped from the bio-research laboratory! Vampires gain their strength back after drinking blood, so please be cautious!"
"A vampire?! We need to get out of the building!"
"We're on the third floor, but we should be able to get out safely before they get here!" They began running to the exit. "Come on, Aichi. We need to go!"
"Right," Aichi responded while getting up from his seat. The school was in panic mode and the hallways were filled up. His classmates and him were on the second floor when Aichi saw two vampires attacking a group of students outside.
Aichi held onto his sword from the sheath and opened the window. "Hey! Where are you going, Aichi?" His classmate asked as Aichi jumped out of the window. He landed on his feet on the grassfield just outside of the school building.
"They don't have the blood capsules…? What has General Hiragi been doing with my blood…?" Aichi wondered as he pulled out his sword and cut his arm a little to let himself bleed. The vampires that were each drinking the students' blood released their victims and took in the smell.
"That's right! Come here!" Aichi shouted while raising his arm. Two more vampires appeared and jumped to Aichi with hungry eyes. He took his sword and sliced the first one cleanly through the stomach making it disappear. He turned his body to kill two more before stabbing the last one through the chest.
"Wow! A white cursed gear?" Aichi ran to the middle school division to see if there were any students there that needed help. He killed one vampire while he was searching the school building. That was when he saw a black haired boy struggling against a vampire just outside of the building. He was about to jump out to kill it, but a man in a red and black uniform killed it before he even got outside.
Aichi jumped outside through the window and walked to the two. "I was about to get her when you came but you killed her before I could," the boy reminded with his arms crossed.
"Right," Guren responded. He heard footsteps and turned to see Aichi walking towards them while sheathing his sword.
"Colonel Ichinose, I didn't expect you to be here," Aichi greeted. He bowed his head in respect. The boy looked at him curiously because he had a uniform on and a white sword with him.
"I was just here to check out how this brat has been doing," Guren answered. "I wasn't expecting you to be here. You're usually at the lab or going on one of your expeditions," he teased.
"Well, something happened and I was ordered to stay in the city," Aichi responded. He turned to the boy and saw that he had a sword with him as well. "A Vampire Extermination Unit candidate?" He asked.
"Sure. But this brat will never learn to work in a team, so I told him to make a friend before joining," Guren answered.
"Oh, that makes sense. I better go back to the other building to make sure everything is alright. Good luck on getting into the Extermination Unit," Aichi said kindly to the boy with a smile.
"Thank goodness, Yu!" A voice called loudly. Aichi stopped and turned. He saw a brunette jumping down from a railing and stumbling down a slope. He fell on Yu and hugged him while crying. Aichi smiled and continued walking.
When he returned to the high school building, he saw that all the students were waiting for him at the entrance. "He's back!" Students exclaimed enthusiastically.
"Sendou! You didn't tell us you were actually part of the Moon Demon Company!"
"Why are you in school again?"
"It's a little complicated. Um… how are they doing?" Aichi asked. He walked to the injured students and it looked like they were fine. "I'm glad they're okay," he said.
"Sendou! You're injured too!"
Aichi looked at his arm and saw that it was still bleeding. "Oh! This is nothing. It's just a small cut," he assured them.
Some nurses arrived and tended to the wounded. One took care of Aichi. As she was cleaning up his wound, he looked at all the other students. "Excuse me, by any chance have the civilians received a blood capsule to distract vampires?" He asked.
"No. We don't know what your blood is for, but it is not going to civilians," the nurse answered while sounding confused.
"Okay, thank you for telling me," Aichi thanked her. The nurse left him alone after bandaging his cut. The students were free to go home for the day after what happened, so he walked to the direction of the hospital.
When he reached the hospital, he stood outside for a second before walking inside. He saw all the kids grouped up around Misaki and Kai. "Misaki! Kai!" Aichi called. They turned and the kids ran to him happily.
"Aichi!"
"Are you okay?!"
"I'm fine now. I'm glad all of you are okay," Aichi said happily. "So all of you are going to head to your new homes?" He asked.
"We wanted to live with you! But they said we weren't allowed to…" a girl cried sadly. Aichi looked at Misaki and Kai and they simply turned away making him deal with them.
Aichi smiled and patted her head. "I can still visit you once in a while," he said kindly.
"Aichi! We have something to show you!" The kids exclaimed excitedly.
Some kids took his arms and pulled him. Some others pushed his back. "Hey, where are we going?" He asked nervously. They took him to a large room with multiple beds. The room was decorated and with bright coloured paper. "Wow! Did all of you decorate this?" He asked.
"Some nurses helped us put them up." The kids took him to a table at the back of the room and he saw a thank you card on it. "Thank you for saving us, Aichi!" All the kids thanked him together.
Aichi smiled and picked up the card. "You didn't have to go through the trouble of doing this. It was nothing, I was just doing my job," he responded. Aichi hugged all of them. "Thank you, I'll work hard and save more kids like you," he said happily.
"Aichi! Let's go to our new home together!"
"Yeah! Yeah!"
"Okay, I'll come with you. Of course, if there is room in the car," Aichi agreed happily. The kids turned to Kai and Misaki.
"Of course there is room," Misaki responded. The kids cheered and took Aichi out of the room in a mob. He made sure to hold onto the card tightly.
"Alright, slow down. I'm coming," Aichi said.
"He's always popular with the kids when we get back," Misaki commented.
"He's the one that saved them. Of course they will be attached to him," Kai responded. As they were talking, they were stopped by some soldiers standing at the entrance to the hospital. Aichi made the kids stand behind him.
"Aichi Sendou, Colonel Ichinose would like to speak with you," the soldier informed.
"I promised the kids I'll bring them to their home. I'll meet with him afterwards," Aichi responded. The soldiers looked at the kids who were scared.
"It won't take that long." They turned and saw Guren walking to them. The soldiers walked to the side to allow him through. Aichi turned to the kids.
"I'll be right back. Can you wait for me?" Aichi asked. The kids nodded happily. "Good. Wait in the car for me. I'll be right there." He walked away with Guren.
"What do you need, Colonel Guren?" Aichi asked respectfully.
"Quit with the Colonel. I need you to do something for me," Guren responded.
"What do you need?" Aichi asked. He thought a little and had an idea of what he wanted. "Is it about that boy from earlier?"
"Since that brat made a friend, he will start training tomorrow. If he gets his Curse Gear and has a unit, I would like you to show the new unit the ropes," Guren explained. Aichi looked a little hesitant to accept the offer. "It will also give you an excuse to leave the city," he added.
"Alright. I don't mind, but I'll need to talk it over with everyone else," Aichi agreed. "I better get back to the kids. They won't go to their new home without me," he said before running back. He bowed his head before joining the group in the truck. He sat with the kids at the back while Misaki and Kai were at the front. They soon drove off.
Hey guys!
It's Aichi's birthday, so it is time for my annual upload! I'm joking! There will be more uploads this year... probably...
So, I have been debating of which of the in progress stories I should post. I have decided on this one! It's a little different from my usual stories, but I hope you guys liked it. I will come out with another chapter soon!
