Janja started trotting to down to see Jasiri and her territory with butterflies in his stomach. He was thinking to himself about Jasiri and everything that he ever liked about her. Her smile, Her laugh, her strength, her kindness and beyond. The thoughts had as he trotted towards her territory made him smile and sway his tail a little bit.
Once he made it there to her territory, he saw Jasiri peeking from the rocks with her eyes narrowed into slits. As soon he spotted the atmosphere felt different, like something was extremely wrong. Jasiri looked pissed off as she emerged from the rocks, with her head lowered and her teeth bared. Janja whimpered for a moment afraid that it had something to do with him.
" What's wrong Jasiri?" Janja asked.
" I think you know exactly what's wrong!" Jasiri snarled.
Janja lowered his head. " Look Jasiri I'm sorry-"
" Sorry doesn't work! I thought you changed, but that doesn't excuse you from what happened today!" Jasiri exclaimed. " This is the third time you tried to kill me and my clan! I gave you two chances and this is what I get!"
" I'm sorry I swear! I didn't-"
" You didn't what? You have no excuse for betraying me this time! I'm done with you! Now get off my turf before I make you!"
Jasiri stood her ground as she growled at him. Janja stood in shock and regret. His heart felt like it was sinking and that his body started shaking. He continued to stand still, having no idea of what to do.
As Janja stood still, Jasiri seemed fed up with him standing there. She lowered her head and went into jumping position. She suddenly leaped at his face with her mouth open to bite him.
Just as she was about to reach his face, Janja blinked and jolted away, just to find he was back in his den. Janja panted for a moment as he looked around frantically. Then he gave a sigh of relief.
Thank Kings of the past that was a dream! Janja thought. I don't think I'd be able to live with myself if that happened. He stood up from where he laid down. I can't attempt to kill Jasiri and her clan again. Not even if Scar tells me too.

Janja padded over to Jasiri's territory when the sun was about to set. He had told his fellow hyenas that he was just going to check in with the rest of the groups in the Outlands
He was a little anxious because of the dream, hoping that it wasn't actually gonna happen. When he arrived at Jasiri's territory, he looked around for a moment and started nervously shaking. When he spotted Jasiri finally, peeking from the rocks, he sighed in relief. She had cute excited smile on her face with her eyes wide in happiness as she made her way out from the rocks.
As Janja looked at Jasiri's expression, he felt a warm smile on his face and his heart fluttering. " Hey Jasiri!"
" Hey Janja! So you're ready to see this sunset?"
" Yeah, I'm excited!"
They started walking alongside each other, heading for a good spot to watch the sunset. Janja got silent for a few moments, trying to think of what to talk about. He looked downward for a moment before saying anything.
" So… where are we going to watch the sunset?" Janja asked.
" Take a wild guess," Jasiri said as she smirked.
" Uhh... On one of the cliffs?" Janja guessed.
Jasiri giggled. " Actually, I have planned out a better place to look. In fact, it's probably better than anything here in the Outlands."
" Are we going into the Pridelands for this?" Janja asked as he cocked his head to the side.
" Maybe.."
Janja's ears flattened as he felt tense. " Are you crazy?! You know them not invited into the Pridelands!"
" And that's why I planned this out. There's a way we can sneak into the Pridelands without anyone knowing."
" And what are you going to do if the Lion Guard happens to find us?"
" Then I'll tell them you're with me."
Jasiri continued walking seemingly casual, but Janja seemed a bit flustered as he looked away from Jasiri. " Great. Now the Lion Guard's gonna think I went soft."
Jasiri looked over at him with a soft smile and chuckled. " No Janja! They won't think you went soft. They will just know that maybe you aren't as much of a greedy hyena than they think."
Janja looked back to Jasiri as he lowered his head a bit. He still carried on his embarrassment as he continued to walk alongside Jasiri, with his ears still flat and his face frowning.
As Jasiri looked at Janja, she flattened her ears as well but continued with her soft expression. " You look so cute when you do that."
" You-huh? What?" Janja said as he started to register what she just said. He's eyes were wide as he perked up his ears. He tensed up as he echoed the words in his head. " I-i-i'm not cute! I'm not cute in the slightest!"
" You just looked so innocent! It's not my fault you looked adorable!"
Janja leaned his shoulder towards Jasiri to playfully shove her. Jasiri giggled and shoved him back. They both started to laugh as they kept shove each other until Jasiri ran off towards the Outland's edge, giving Janja in a position to chase her. As Janja chased Jasiri, he thought, I never thought I would be considered cute. Even if it was Jasiri.
After sneaking through the Pridelands, hiding in the grass and going through shortcuts, the two were very close to their destination. They arrived in a small beautiful forest area with a few butterflies fluttering here and there, and they took a moment to admire their surroundings.
Janja continued to look at two golden butterflies that flew by as he said, " I'm assuming we're almost there, but this isn't the place."
" Yeah, we just need to cross that log above the stream," Jasiri replied as she pointed her nose towards the stream.
They walked crossed the log past the stream and came to the end of the forest and into a place with a few trees and a couple of hills. A few small herds were at a safe distance and on one of the larger hills was a perfect view for the sunset. Jasiri lead Janja towards that hill as Janja looked around the area. Now that I look at it, it isn't just food that the Pridelands have to offer.
When they were at the top of the hill, Janja almost immediately noticed a zebra carcass with some leftover meat on it's bones. Janja smiled excitedly as his mouth watered.
Jasiri looked at Janja. " I figured that you would want some food while we watch the sunset."
" I already don't regret coming with you!" Janja nearly leapt over to the carcass and started eating the meaty parts of the carcass. Jasiri shook her head as she giggled and she slowly approached Janja and laid down next to him to join the feast.
The sun was almost at the horizon and the sky had already had different colors in the sky. For a moment Janja paused in his meal to take notice of it. He looked up at all the colors and the few twinkling stars appearing in the sky. " You were right Jasiri," Janja said softly. " It is beautiful."
Jasiri looked up along with him. " I've always loved seeing the sky change from dawn to night."
" Do you always go to the pridelands to see it?" Janja asked. Jasiri paused for a moment as she looked towards the horizon.
" Yeah. My parents and I would come to the Pridelands to look at the sunset," Jasiri explained. " After the sunset we would look at the stars and they would teach me about the spirits that lived among them."
" There's spirits among the stars?" Janja asked.
" Yes. They look down on us from the stars after they die. It's part of the circle of life."
Janja looked at Jasiri thoughtfully. " Are all spirits in the stars?"
" Almost. If they are truly evil animals, they go elsewhere."
Janja thought for a moment. Truly evil. Does she mean like Scar?
Jasiri was watching the sky as the sun hit the horizon while Janja looked at Jasiri. He noticed the atmosphere was different. Jasiri didn't look so giggly anymore, and was staring out into the distance. She had her brows furrowed and she wasn't smiling at the occasion ethier.
Janja's fur started to bristle in concern. " What are you not telling me?" Jasiri didn't respond to his question. Janja's heart started pounding. He shifted his body towards Jasiri until they were nearly touching, side by side. " Jasiri?" She then quickly turn towards Janja, making her face a little close to Janja which Janja didn't seem to mind. They looked directly into each other's eyes. Janja narrowed his eyes a bit. " What's wrong?"
" Oh, it's nothing really," Jasiri reassured Janja as she softened her expression and she looked forward again. " I was thinking about my mother."
Jasiri returned to the same expression she had before and went silent. Janja immediately understood what was going on now. " I'm so sorry."
Jasiri looked back to Janja in surprise. " It's not your fault she died. And how did you even know she died?"
" My mother died as well," Janja explained as he flattened his ears. " My father died too. In fact most, if not all, of my clan members are without parents. So I know that look all too well."
" What happened to your parents?"
Janja sighed. " They died in the fire with Scar. So did many of their other hyenas. How about your mom?"
Jasiri looked away again. " She died in a battle. She was cornered by enemy hyenas and fell into a steam vent."
They both stayed silent for a moment. They looked away from each other and stared at the ground instead. They had their ears flattened and they thought to themselves for a moment.
The sun was already almost gone, making the sky darker with many of the stars appearing. Janja gave quick glances towards Jasiri as the sun went down. Jasiri stayed looking away from him but looked up from the ground as the sun disappeared.
As Jasiri looked forward, Janja felt like something overcame him. He felt like something had been lifted off his chest and he really started to feel like he really connected with Jasiri. That there was something that he felt like he needed suddenly.
Janja lowered his head and slowly rested his head on Jasiri's paws. Jasiri looked down quickly with a flustered look on her face. Janja suddenly realized what he was doing and he started to feel a little embarrassed.
"Don't think this means anything," Janja grunted.
Jasiri giggled for a moment. " I wouldn't think it would!" And then she rested her head on his head.
Janja started to feel warm and his heart started fluttering. " I can't believe I'm doing this."
Jasiri chuckled. " Me neither."
