After sunset, Janja wanted to get something to eat for his boys as he felt a bit guilty that he ate without his clan. So they ended up finding a meatier apala carcass. Jasiri helped Janja carry it back to his territory so they didn't converse as much with bones and meat in their mouths. Instead, they exchanged happy glances and bright smiles. Janja shook his tail as well as he looked at Jasiri.

They made sure they were careful when they were in the Pridelands, pausing at each loud noise that they heard and they lowered their bodies in the grass.

When they finally arrived at the Outlands, they made sure to go through Jasiri's territory and to Janja's territory. When they arrived at Janja's territory, Janja started to drag the carcass.

"Are you sure you don't need help from this point?" Jasiri asked.

"I'll be fine!" Janja reassured her as he set down the prey for a moment. " Besides, it's better that I'm a slowpoke turtle than my clan finding out about our meetings, especially unannounced."

"Alright then." Jasiri said, and then she paused before continuing. " You know, it doesn't have to be this way. My offer is still open. You could still join the hyena resistance."

Janja paused for a moment and he flattened his ears. " Jasiri, I want to join. I really do!"

But…"

"But I just can't. Me joining the hyena resistance would make your problems worse. Besides, there are many reasons why I believe you wouldn't want me in your clan anyways."

"And what reasons do you have for that?"

For a moment Janja remained silent and looked down. "I can explain tomorrow. I'd rather not talk about it now but I will, I promise."

Jasiri sighed. "Okay. See you tomorrow then."

"Yeah. See ya." Janja remained with his display of sadness as he dragged the carcass. He saw Jasiri as she turned and walked away, and thought to himself. I wish I could take back what I did. I should have never summoned Scar, or have even followed his orders.

He had just turned the corner when suddenly he heard sudden footsteps behind him. Janja quickly whipped his head to face the creature, which turned out to be a stern faced Nne.

" Ithink it's time the whole clan had a little talk."

"I'm not in love with Jasiri!" Janja snarled. He was back at home with the rest of his hyenas, and Janja, Nne and Tano were all arguing and debating over what was witnessed. Meanwhile the rest of the clan listened and took advantage of the prey brought home. " And you shouldn't have been spying on me anyways!"

"Cut the crap Janja!" Nne growled. " You know darn well you are in love with Jasiri! I saw the way you were smiling and glancing at her when you came back to the territory! And how you wanted to join her!"

" I never said I was! And that doesn't explain why you were spying in the first place!"

"I was spying on you for the good of the clan!"

"You don't know what's good for the clan!" Janja responded as he dug his claws into the ground. " I, on the other paw, am the leader of the clan. I know what I'm doing!"

"You know that you have no idea what you're doing!" Tano budged in. " That's why we can't get food! Why your ideas never go according to plan!"

"It still doesn't excuse you guys from spying on me!" Janja growled.

"We spied on you for answers!" Nne yelled. " We can't have a leader that keeps on lollygagging because he's daydreaming about another stupid hyena! Especially around Scar!"

"She's not stupid, Nne!" Janja yelled out in response. "And wasn't it you and Tano that said I was stupid for not admitting my crush on Jasiri?"

"Oh! So you admit that you like her!" Tano yelled out.

" Well, maybe I freakin' love her!" Janja snarled. But then fell silent, digesting what he just said. Everyone else looked on silently as they thought about it too. Janja's neck fur bristled and his eyes got wide as he thought about it.

"Wait? Janja loves someone?" Cheezi asked as he was watching three hyenas.

"Huh? Who?" Chungu asked.

Most of the hyenas turned to them with annoyed looks, and the two winced.

Janja was still silent and was looking down with a serious face. And then he looked back up to his clan. Suddenly his face displayed frustration. " That wasn't intentional! I didn't mean to put it like that!"

Nne and Tano went back to their snarls.

"Whatever!" Nne said.

"The point is that you can't hang out with Jasiri and be with Scar's army at the same time! You just can't!"

"Fine then! I'll think about it! But I know what's good for the clan and you can't make my decisions for me!"

Janja stormed off into his den to calm down and think about what he was doing. He knew Nne and Tano were right but he never wanted to admit it when it was a fact.

Silence came across the hyenas as Janja disappeared. Nne and Tano looked at each other with concern. Cheezi and Chungu looked on confused about everything. All the other hyenas were shocked and were whispering to each other.

To break the silence, one of the hyenas spoke up. " You know, you guys didn't have to yell about the whole situation in front of everyone."

"Yeah, it was dramatic," Another hyena pitched in. " And you gotta think, he is the shouldn't insult him like if you hadn't teased him about Jasiri, this would have never happened."

" Look, the only thing that matters is that Janja does good for the clan," Nne responded. "Besides Janja used to do that all the time."

" Janja is the leader though," the first hyena pointed out. " And Janja can't help that he fell in love. Also if you think about it, like I said before, maybe his girlfriend of his can help us get our own mates."

" Getting mates doesn't matter when it comes to survival," Tano said. "We need to think about Scar and the other factions."

The other hyena exchanged looks and continued to eat their dinner and Nne and Tano reluctantly joined the feast.

As the hyenas ate, Janja was wide awake in his den. He was laying down, thinking of the next step. He started thinking of the choices that he had for his clan and all the consequences that came with each choice.

He could join Jasiri and her hyena resistance, and risk possible death on his whole clan with Scar around. Scar had 3 different groups that could all destroy his clan when combined. Plus, what if Jasiri found out that he was the one that summoned Scar or that he didn't feel like he really knew how to lead his clan? What if Jasiri's clan still hasn't forgiven him and his they could get kicked out of Jasiri's clan and then they would be left defenseless against Scar.

But if they did join together, they could be happier, with mates and new friends. Maybe they wouldn't be so lonesome or grumpy as they were. Maybe they could even ally with the Lion Guard, and maybe they could have some Prideland meat.

But if he was with Scar, he wouldn't be able to hang out with Jasiri anymore. He would be lonely with no hyena to relate to. He would probably become more guilty for what he did too with leaving.

But it would be made up for with taking over the Pridelands and eating whatever they want. And the risk of death would lessen, knowing Scar wouldn't kill his ally obviously and even Kion wouldn't have the heart to murder him or his clan. His clan would be safe, healthy and full, without too many threats of the world.

Janja for a long while thought about each decision quietly, thinking back and forth about his choices. Some thoughts made him shudder and others made him smile for a second.

Finally Janja sighed and got up from his position. He looked down, with his fur bristled in nervousness. He turned to his hyenas outside, who were almost done with their food and were about to sleep. Janja slowly walked over to his fellow hyenas. The hyenas looked up at him curiously.

Janja nervously sighed. " I know what we are going to do now."
