Jasiri was at the edge of her territory looking around at night, waiting for Janja to come around so they could talk.
For a while she waited behind the rocks, incase any other hyena came around. She was happy that she would be able to talk to him. She hoped that Janja would tell her and admit why he couldn't join her clan. Maybe if he told her, maybe she could convince him to join with her clan.
Jasiri waited for a while as the moon was rising up more and more, but there was no sign of Janja coming. Not a hint of Janja's scent, no noise from any hyena. Nothing. Once the moon reached it's highest point, Jasiri was very tired and was certain that Janja wasn't coming tonight.
She came out from behind the rocks and walked away to her where the rest of her clan was sleeping around some rocks. When she reached them, she carefully walked through the crowd of her sleeping clanmates, making sure that there wasn't a lot of noise as she went towards her sleeping spot. She went to the biggest rock around them and laid down on it.
As she tried to sleep, all she could think about was Janja. She wondered why he didn't come back, as things seemed to be going so well. Did Janja encounter a problem? Was Janja too scared to tell her, so he backed out? Did his clan catch him? Did Scar?
All those worries overwhelmed Jasiri for a moment as she curled up a bit more than usual. Her heart sank as she continued to think about all the possibilities that could've happened. Her fur bristled in nervousness and worry, but she paused in her thinking to calm down. Things were going so well, Jasiri thought. It was probably nothing. Maybe a problem just came up and he'll be back tomorrow.
She sighed and she closed her eyes to go to sleep.
" Why the hell are you so angry?"
" Just get the hell away from me," Janja growled at Nne. Janja turned away from him and went back to his den with his head low and his eyes narrowed.
Nne looked on with his head tipped to the side. He had only asked him if Scar had a new plan, and suddenly he flipped out. He started growling at Nne and just kept saying for him to get away. Janja wasn't usually the happiest hyena but he was never this angry ethier. Nne narrowed his eyes for a moment as he thought about Janja.
Tano approached Nne with concern as Nne looked on. " Wow. What did you do this time?" Tano asked.
" I didn't really do anything," Nne responded. " I just asked him about Scar."
Tano was silent for a moment and looked Janja's den, thinking for a moment. " He seems to be very angry lately. Ever since he made that decision that he was staying on Scar's side, he's been extra pissed."
" Maybe he's just having trouble dealing with his decision," Nne pointed out. " He must've really loved Jasiri for him to be so emotional."
" He should be able to deal with it. He has worked without Jasiri before. He shouldn't be so emotional."
" I know." They both looked on for a moment, still very curious about Janja's behavior. After a moment of thinking about it, Tano and Nne went elsewhere to converse and do whatever.
Meanwhile in Janja's den, Janja laid down curled up into a ball. Janja winced and had his ears flat. He started rethinking his decision that he made, as doubts started to surround his thoughts. Did he really make the right decision?
Why do I doubt my decision? Janja thought. Why do I feel so horrible? It's like how it was before Jasiri so it not like anything changed.
Janja suddenly snarled to himself. It's not because of Jasiri! It's not! I'm sure... I'm not in love with Jasiri or anyone.
As he thought to himself, he saw Shupavu crawling up next to him. " Scar's calling for another meeting."
Janja sighed as he turned to Shupavu slowly. " Okay."
"He's hopes you're ready this time."
"Trust me. I can do whatever he wants now. It won't be like last time."
Shupavu nodded and made her way back to Scar. Janja blinked slowly with a small frown and slowly lifted himself up. He sighed and slowly walked towards where Scar was, with his head down and his ears flattened.
As he walked out of his den, he saw that the clan looked at him with concern. Some cocked their heads to the side while others whispered among their friends. Some had their ears flat as they saw Janja's display of sadness.
Janja looked down for a moment and thought about how he was showing his emotions. Now they probably think I'm soft. Janja sighed for a moment and stood up straight. He gathered up all of his strength to walk out proudly and confidently. All of his emotions seemed to become numb suddenly as he tried to block out his heart break. I have to do what's best for the clan. Not what's best for me or Jasiri.
The clan looked on a little less concerned as they saw Janja looking a bit better and they turned away and continued doing what they were doing.
As Janja walked out, he thought to himself about Scar and his emotions. You need to get this under control. If you don't, what Scar finds out? What if he tries to kill me and my clan? Janja started shuddering at the thoughts racing through his it is I'm feeling needs to go away!
When Janja reached Scar's volcano, he paused as he about to appear in front of Scar. He just looked at the lava, he gulped for a moment in fear. Do not show how you really feel thought as he calmed himself. It's not my fault I'm in this position. The Lion Guard is starving us hyenas. Jasiri doesn't understand but one day they will all understand. I've made my choice.
Janja entered into the volcano, suddenly better than he did before he entered. Scar looked up at him and had a very displeased look on his face. Scar raised a brow as he looked at Janja. " Are you ready this time?"
Janja looked up and perked up his ears. And straighten his position and looked directed at Scar.
" I promise, this time I'm ready to destroy the Lion Guard, once and for all."
