The night overcame the two hyenas as Jasiri lead Janja to the Pridelands. She made sure to be careful not to startle any of the animals grazing or sleeping. Janja followed her lead.

" Why are we going all the way here to learn about the circle of life?" Janja whispered.

" Because it might do you some good if you see the circle of life from your enemies proceptive," Jasiri replied.

As they sneaking through the Pridelands, they crossed through the grasslands to a small forest area. They walked through seeing all the animals as they went through the Pridelands. Janja started to smile as he overlooked the Pridelands with Jasiri. He felt like something was lifted off his chest, that he was free of something. Something around him seemed so peaceful and following Jasiri made him grow a new curiosity. Where were they going? What was she going to teach him about the circle of life? Could it really be a new way to go?

Past the forest part of the Pridelands, came back to a recognizable spot where there were many hills and herds of many animals grazing beyond them. " Oh, so we're going to where had our sunset dinner!" Janja smirked as he said it.

" I guess you can say that," Jasiri looked back with a smile. She went over to a certain that seemed to be the highest one. Before she went up, she turned to Janja with a smirk and a brow raised. " I bet you can't beat me up this hill."

Janja surprised a bit at first as he turned his attention directly to her. Then he returned the expression. " Are you sure about that Jasiri? I think it would be quite embarrassing if you lost to me…"

" I think I can handle it," Jasiri said as she bent down with her knees to get into a good starting position.

Janja laughed as he saw her get into a running stance. " Ha! I don't need to do that. I'm good in the position I'm in now."

Jasiri rolled her eyes. She looked up to the top of the hill. " Are you ready?"

"Pfft! As I'll ever be!"

" Then let's go," Jasiri started off with a leap and continued racing up the hill.

Janja came after about a second late and started racing. As Janja raced up the hill, he started to pant. His tongue stuck out of mouth as he started to reach the top. Why are hills harder to run on?

Jasiri reached the top with Janja following close behind. Janja continued to pant and Jasiri turned to him and giggled. " I bet it's so embarrassing for you to lose to me."

Janja dramatically collapsed on the ground, taken in long breaths. " How was that easy for you?"

" Maybe you just need to build up your energy," Jasiri commented. She sat down, observing him with an amused look on her face. Janja still panted looking up at Jasiri.

" So… Why are we here?" Janja asked. He sat up and looked around from the top of the hill, and saw as many herds of animals were grazing, from antelope to a herd of zebra off in the distance.

" You and Scar's army have always tried to hunt as many animals as you can from the Pridelands," Jasiri started off explaining. " You and your allies seem to think that you should eat whatever animal and how many animals you want. But when you hunt too many animals, they started dying off too quickly. Each kill, one more animal dies and if you kill too many at a time, eventually you would have no food. You would have either chased off all the prey or you would have killed them all." Her nose pointed towards a few different antelope. " Like you could that one other there and maybe that antelope near the tree over there. You could eat as many antelope as you want, but eventually this herd of antelope would die off."

" So then we wouldn't have any food anyways if we over hunt," Janja said as he was processing what Jasiri said. " But then when do you know it's enough?"

"It's enough when you and group are full," Jasiri responded. " And even so, it's not our place to hunt. Most of Scar's army has the duty to hunt, but hyenas don't. We hyenas eat all the prey left over from other predators. We get leftover meat and get the bones of the carcasses."

" Leftovers doesn't really seem sound like enough for a whole clan." Janja looked down with his mouth in a small frown. But his eyes showed a look of thoughtfulness. " I remember the hyenas that had raised me and my clan had said that a hyena's belly was never full. That's why we hyenas have hunted so much. Leftovers just seems like a meer snack."

" My clan has always survived prosperously through eating leftover food," Jasiri pointed out. " The circle of life has always made sure that animals get their fill. A hyena's belly is never full when they don't follow the circle of life, but when they do, a hyena's belly can be very full very quickly." Jasiri turned towards Janja as Janja looked up to make eye contact. " I'm sure the circle of life has a place for you and your clan too."

Janja smiled softly and his ears flattened in a way that made him seem a bit submissive. Jasiri smiled as well, wider than Janja's, and they both started shaking their tails.

Janja glanced away Jasiri for a moment, feeling his heart flutter as he looked down at the antelope. " I'm sure what you say is true." Janja's smile grew a bit larger as he said that. Jasiri then flattened her ears in excitement and her eyes widened as well. They made eye contact again, and both of them saw the happiness in each other's eyes. " I think I want to learn more. The circle of life doesn't seem all that bad."

Janja and Jasiri had started walking through the little area they were in. They were cautious not to scare off the antelope and Jasiri continued to teach Janja as Janja listened intently and asked questions. The sun had set after a while.

" So the reason why the lions and hyenas never really got along was because of overhunting?" Janja asked

"Yes, hyenas have been overhunting for as far as lions can remember. But the important thing for us hyenas to do now is to learn from their mistakes. We can stop overhunting to prevent problems with other animals. That's why my hyenas never really had problems with the Pridelanders."

" Yeah. I can see that." Janja looked away from Jasiri for a moment looking at the ground. " But I don't see why they couldn't teach some of us as cubs. Like when my parents and the most of their pack had died in the fire. Maybe Simba could have taught us hyenas some about the circle of life instead of just banishing back to the Outlands with nothing to learn from. It's just hard to from something when you're not really taught about what was wrong."

Jasiri paused for a moment, thinking about Janja's statement. " You're right. I don't think your hyenas were the only thing that caused conflict. Lions have definitely been closed minded to each generation, and that's probably why nothing changes each generation."

" I'm glad someone actually listens to me," Janja said as his eyes looked up to her.

Jasiri's expression brightened up a bit, with her eyes and smile slightly wider. " I'll always be there to listen to you when you need it."

" Thank you Jasiri." Janja flattened his ears and his tail started to sway. But he stopped when a sudden thought came to his mind. " What will you do about tomorrow?"

" My clan will do what they usually do, we'll fight back. The question is more like what are you going to do about tomorrow?"

Janja stayed silent for a moment. " I definitely won't fight you and your clan..." Janja went back to silence, thinking about how he was going to handle the situation. " I don't want to follow Scar anymore but I could help by pretending that I'm on his side for tomorrow."

" And what would you do when you were on Scar's side to help out?" Jasiri asked as her head leaned to her right a bit.

" I can trap them," Janja explained. " Or rather we can. If I lead them in the right direction, you and your clan could start to surround them. And we can even get the Lion Guard to help too. We could surprise attack them once you guys are ready. That way, when my clan gets away from Scar, my clan will be safer as to breaking off from him alone. Well that is, if you join…"

"Of course Janja," Jasiri said. " Your plan doesn't sound bad. It sounds like a good plan actually. I will help and we can get the Lion Guard."

" Thank you Jasiri. I appreciate it."

" I really should be thanking you, for warning me and trying to help me and my clan."

" But you opened up my eyes Jasiri. You're the only reason that I started to want to change." Janja looked away with a small grin on his face and Jasiri giggled a bit. Janja felt slightly hot in embarrassment. " Thanks for not giving up on me."

Jasiri's tail started shaking again as her ears flattened and she smiled. " No problem."

" I still can't believe that Jasiri wants to help Janja out of all hyenas," Bunga said after Kion explained what had happened in the Outlands. Kion had not told them earlier but he couldn't stop thinking about it. When his Lion Guard noticed something was on his mind, he explained what happened while they were at night.

" That's what I'm saying," Kion agreed. " Janja, a hyena that has attempted to kill us and her and her clan multiple times. She even saved him that one time and he didn't take her offer."

" That could explain why Janja spared you," Fuli pointed out, thinking deeply about the situation. " Maybe apart of him cares about Jasiri."

Ono, who was standing on Beshte's back, looked down as he thought about the situation." I guess that's a logical explanation."

" What should we do about it Kion?" Beshte asked. " Can we trust him around Jasiri?"

Kion's brows furrowed." No. Janja could be tricking Jasiri into believing he wants to change. He could have spared me because he knew Jasiri would know he killed me if he actually did."

Beshte raised a brow. " Maybe it's a bit far fetched."

" But Janja has been known to play tricks on us," Bunga said with a blank expression." Why would Janja be any different towards Jasiri?"

" Honestly I feel like Janja would be too dumb to come up with such a plan with sucess coming from it," Fuli groaned.

" It could have been Scar's plan," Ono suggested.

Fuli paused in response, and thought about Ono's idea," We would be able to tell if it were Scar's plan. And I doubt Scar would choose Janja to execute the plan, since Janja's bad at lying and what not."

" Even so, the point is that we can't trust Janja," Kion growled. " And we have to help Jasiri before she falls into one of his tricks."

" Kion, I think it's best we stay out of this." Fuli furrowed her brows in genuine concern. " Jasiri knows what she's doing, I'm sure. And Janja isn't the one to trick someone in this matter."

" Fuli, we should help any of our friends in need," Kion said. " If Janja is tricking her, when we have to make her realize that."

Fuli rolled her eyes. The Lion Guard continued walking through the Pridelands, looking out for any type of danger that was to come. They heading into a somewhat forest area, where they saw some the monkey rest on the trees and butterflies started fluttering harmonically. Everything was seemingly peaceful.

The Lion Guard crossed a log to arrive into a hilly area in the Pridelands, where the antelope were grazing beyond, which could be seen from the top of the hills. The moon was shining nice and bright and the star were as clear as day. No sign of chaos seemed to within the area so the Lion Guard was quick to turn away from the area.

But as they started to move away from the hills and back towards the forest, Kion caught a familiar scent as a whiff of it came to his nose. He paused for a moment as the rest of the guard continued down the hill they were on. Fuli looked back to see Kion standing in place and sniffing the air. The rest of the guard noticed too and stopped and observed him in silence.

Kion kept sniffing for a moment before mentioning anything to the Lion Guard. " I smell Janja's scent, along with Jasiri's scent." He looked around the area while continuing to sniff around, trying to follow the scents. He went towards the very top of hill looking around cautiously. Through the herd of antelope, Kion could barely pinpoint two creatures ahead of the herd by a few feet. They were hard to spot in dark but the moon light and their movement in the grass helped a lot. He could faintly spot their shadows and walking in the grass.

What is Jasiri doing with Janja in the Pridelands?
