"The most dangerous man that I've ever taken down was easily Irving Meller, The Chameleon," Alex told Violet as he sat down at the table with his mug of coffee, Eliana climbing up into her seat as she leaned forward, nearly dangling from the edge of the table as she watched with a mystical gaze, hanging on to her father's words as he spoke to them about his 'adventures' as she liked to think of them as. "Sometimes, Elli, your most dangerous opponent isn't the one that can hurt you physically but has the potential to hurt you emotionally. The Chameleon was like that, he was the biggest problem that the force had ever seen because we could never seem to find him before he…" Alex stopped and looked at Violet as he chose his words carefully. "Hurt a lot of women."

"What did he do to them, dad?" Eliana asked. The gentle breeze of Mistral and warmth of spring drifted through the window, carrying with it the smell of the flora that had begun to bloom, starting its cycle anew. Alex's face twisted slightly, it wasn't enough that Eliana would notice his distress or disgust, but after being married to him for as long as she'd been, Violet could read his emotions like a book, no matter how imperceptible they were. She took his hand and he looked down at hers for a moment, smirking warmly before looking up at her. The heat of the sun peering between the clouds and through the open window above their sink seemed to reach a peak in level of comfort paired with Alex's smile.

"He hurt them, Elli," Alex told her. "He'd give them a makeover and if he thought that they still weren't pretty enough, he'd kill them." Eliana readjusted herself and her face crinkled.

"Everyone is pretty in their own way, dad," Eliana exclaimed. Alex laughed as Violet squeezed his hand and he reached across the table, patting Eliana on the head.

"That's exactly right," Alex told her. "You're a smart girl, Elli, you must have a pretty smart mom or dad or something." Alex glanced around. "Where are your parents anyway?" Eliana leapt down from her seat and ran to him.

"You're right here!" She told him.

"Am I?" He asked. "Or has my body been possessed by a Grimm?!" He leapt up, forcing an excited impromptu scream from Eliana who ran away into the other room and he moved to Violet, giving her a kiss on the lips. "I have your mother, Elli! You'd better come save her from me!"

"Let her go!" Eliana yelled laughing.

"Help!" Violet cried out.

"She looks pretty tasty to a Grimm like me!" Alex declared. Eliana reappeared, firing her fake gun at him which was more or less a branch that was shaped like a gun.

"Bang!" She shouted. Alex gripped his chest, hitting his knees.

"Elli, you saved me from the Grimm!" He announced holding his arms out. Eliana dashed to him, leaping into his arms where he held her tight to his chest.

"I love you, dad!" Eliana giggled as he clung to her. He smiled and laughed, the sound filling both Eliana and Violet with warmth and a feeling of security.

"I love you too, Elli," Alex replied.

"The bookstore, the bookstore, how I love the book store!" Eliana sang as she skipped down the sidewalk and opened the door, waving to Fox as she let it close behind her and peering around for Neela. "O Neela, Neela, wherefore art thou, Neela?" Eliana searched through the adult section, browsing as she made her way through but discovering that was completely out of Ninjas of Love to read. She sighed, circling back around to find that Neela was now behind the help desk, distracted with something beneath the counter that Eliana couldn't see. She approached, ringing the bell and waiting for Neela to look up, the two of them smiled at each other before Eliana finally spoke. "Hello!"

"It's going to be another twenty minutes or so," Neela told her. "I don't understand why you don't just get a job here with me."

"I could do that?" Eliana asked.

"It'd be up to Fox, but yeah, it's an option," Neela told her chuckling.

"I'll think about it," Eliana told her. "You guys have today's newspaper somewhere that I can read it?"

"Yeah, it should be next to the front door in the rack," Neela told her, pointing towards it. Eliana nodded, heading over and grabbing one off of the top that looked a little worn from overuse that day, and flipping it open to the Remnant Wide news section, hoping to learn something new about the identities of the two men that escaped the Mistral prison a few months ago.

"They really need to train some new guards, between this and the Stardust Gang always getting loose…" Eliana spoke loud enough for Neela to hear before stopping as a name caught her eye. Her gaze raced around the text, trying to absorb everything that the story detailed before her thought process could catch up. Both of the prisoners had been men that her father put away, Samuel "Quake" Quartz… and… "Neela!" Eliana dropped the paper, rushing to the counter and nearly vaulting it before Neela managed to stop her.

"What's going on?" Neela asked her.

"Scroll! I need your scroll, I don't have mine on me and I need to call my mom!" Eliana yelled. Neela offered it to her and she snatched it away, leaving Neela standing there in bewilderment. Something was off, Eliana was hardly ever this stressed out about anything. She left her place behind the counter, moving to Eliana who was brushing her off. "Mom? Mom! Mom! Listen, are you okay!? Is everything okay? If it's not, you can speak in code, something normal like calling me Neela, or acting like Blake called you."

"Elli, I'm fine, just tell me what's going on?" Violet asked as she stood up from her chair on the porch and walked inside so that she could hear her daughter better. "Is everything okay with you?"

"They released the names of the men that escaped from Mistral," Eliana told her. "One of them was The Chameleon. I know what dad used to tell me about him when I was younger, but I know what he actually does now. I just need you to promise me that you'll be safe until I…" Eliana paused for a moment. "Until the police or military can put him away again."

"I'll be fine Elli, you can come visit me this weekend if you're worried about me," Violet told her. Violet took a few seconds to let the fear release its grip on her body. "Eliana…"

"Yes?" Eliana replied. Her mother rarely used her full first name, and when she did it was more often than not because she was being serious and it almost took Eliana by surprise.

"Do not go after Irving," Violet requested firmly. "Do you understand?" Eliana's hand shook as she tried to contain her anger over the fact that Meller had escaped at all and after clearing her throat, she mustered up a reply.

"Yes, mom," Eliana seethed. "I love you."

"And I love you, Eliana." With that Violet hung up and the call was over, leaving Eliana dumbfounded as she looked at the scroll before giving it back to Neela. Eliana began to walk away before Neela grabbed her by the shoulder, forcing her to stop and look back at her.

"Hey, Fox! Is it alright if I take off?" Neela asked him.

"Yeah, I should be able to handle everything else on my own," he informed her. She gave him a nod, grabbing her bag quickly as she left the store with Eliana, the two of them walking in silence towards the market district as Eliana seemed overly preoccupied with her thoughts.

"What did you read in the paper?" Neela asked. Eliana shrugged and looked away, her nerves shot as she didn't want to answer. "Elli."

"Two of the men that my father had locked up both escaped the prison in Mistral a few months ago," Eliana informed her. "I'm afraid that they'll try to come after me or my mom. They don't know these killers like my dad did, they often said that if it wasn't for him they never would have taken down Quake or found The Chameleon." Neela grabbed her hand in a moment of sincerity, Eliana's eyes widening as she looked up at Neela before looking back at their hands.

"The Atlas and Mistral militaries will find them before that and if not, we can take them down together," Neela told her. "But like your mother said on the phone, don't try and do this on your own." Eliana looked away, a sad expression shrouding her normal smile.

"You heard that?" Eliana asked.

"I am a Faunus after all," Neela reminded her playfully. "She's right though. I know how passionate you can be about your father's work. You think that going out there and finding them is the best way to honor him and the fact that they let them escape is a disservice towards him, but remember that he wouldn't want you getting hurt or killed trying to defend him. You can't let it get you down, Elli."

"I know," Eliana sighed.

"I guess I have no choice now but to try and cheer you up," Neela told her as she let go of Eliana's hand and stretched. Her palm was sweaty and her body had begun overheating, she never expected that Eliana would hold on for that long. "How does ice cream sound to take your mind off of everything?"

"Winter just ended and you're wanting to go get ice cream?" Eliana asked. Neela folded her arms with her eyebrow raised.

"Funny, I've never known you to be one to turn down ice cream," Neela told her.

"I'm not," Eliana shouted back at her. Eliana smirked, cocking her hip before pointing down the street and laughing. "Race you there?"

"No semblances!" Neela declared.

"No gadgets!" Eliana added. Neela laughed which earned her a smile from Eliana and the two of them raced for the storefronts, both of them struggling against one another to get in the door of the parlor first, Neela conceded after a moment letting Eliana in before her and the two of them panted, out of breath as they approached the counter to place their orders. After a minute they both moved to a table in a corner with their frozen treats, Eliana eyed hers up as she admired the multiple scoops and sprinkles. "Wanna see who can eat theirs the fastest?"

"Are you trying to get a brain freeze?" Neela asked her chuckling.

"Wouldn't you get one first?" Eliana asked. "You are a Faunus, you do have heightened senses."

"So that's your game?" Neela inquired. Eliana grinned evilly.

"Are they all heightened?" Eliana bemused. "Even sensitivity to touch?" Neela folded her arms and raised a brow.

"I don't think that I like where this is going," Neela replied as Eliana leaned forward.

"It's just a harmless question…" Eliana said licking her ice cream. Neela stared at her for a long moment, Eliana possibly enjoying her ice cream cone more than she realized, or at least in Neela's head she was. Neela shook her head and leaned back as she ate some of her own, both of them enjoying their sweets in silence until it was broken by Eliana. "Seriously though, is your sensitivity to touch heightened?"

"I'm not answering that," Neela scoffed.

"I'm taking that, as a yes," Eliana told her. Neela chuckled with a tsk. "Any luck finding yourself a boyfriend yet? If not, I'm going to start helping you look. I really think you should try talking to that Orin again if you get some free time, he was a looker and smooth as butter."

"He seemed nice and all, but I think he's not my type," Neela noted.

"Not into handsome and suave?" Eliana questioned.

"No, that's fine," Neela laughed.

"Too tall? Too refined?" Eliana added.

"Still okay," Neela laughed.

"Hmmm…" Eliana wondered as she looked into Neela's eyes. Her own lit up suddenly and she waved her hands around, nearly losing her ice cream in the process. "I got it!"

"Do you?" Neela asked.

"You prefer someone of the female persuasion!" Eliana exclaimed. "Why didn't you ever tell me?"

"I never said that you were right," Neela fired back. Eliana raised her eyebrows repeatedly.

"You never said that I was wrong," Eliana retorted. "That explains why you always just dismiss the guys that I point at you."

"Why? You have someone in mind if I do like girls?" Neela asked. Eliana sucked off a relatively large bit of her treat, seething for a moment as her mouth froze on her and breathing heavily afterward to try and eliminate the pain.

"Actually I do," Eliana replied. "I think you'll really like her."

"Oh?" Neela questioned.

"Yeah, a cute girl in my Dust studies class," Eliana told Neela. "Blonde, slender, really nice tits or at least as I far as I can tell from her v-necks that she normally wears." She looked down at her own breasts. "Not as nice as these, but I mean, c'mon. It's hard to top the girls."

"I think maybe I'll just focus on finishing out the school year," Neela informed her.

"Oh come on, for a second there you seemed interested," Eliana informed her. "You have someone in mind?"

"What?" Neela asked taken off guard and slightly blushing.

"There is someone, isn't there!" Eliana exclaimed. "Who!?"

"There's no one," Neela declined, shaking her head. "What about you? You find that special someone yet?" Eliana shook her head.

"I've been waiting for you to find someone," Eliana replied. Neela watched Eliana for a long couple of minutes as she continued eating her ice cream. Why couldn't Eliana just see it? Why did she have to tell her? Would she even admit to it if Eliana asked her?

"Excuse me," someone said as they sat down and joined them at the table. Neela turned to note Raven who was setting her mask on the table and fixing her hair. "Did my granddaughter forget that we had a training planned for this afternoon, or were you just trying to blow me off?"

"Maybe I was," Neela offered. Raven smirked smugly and shook her head.

"You'd have to try harder than this to avoid me, Neela," Raven informed her.

"Is that so?" Neela asked.

"How's it been, Bird Grams?" Eliana asked finishing her ice cream. Raven looked her over and inhaled slowly before letting it out.

"You still haven't told her yet, have you?" Raven pried from Neela. Neela threw her hands into the air, blushing once more.

"Why can everyone read me so well!?" Neela cried.

"Tell me what?" Eliana asked.

"Nothing!" Neela shouted.

"She's been acting weird today," Eliana informed Raven.

"Just today?" Raven asked. Eliana laughed as Neela rubbed her face furiously.

"Are you two just going to keep roasting me?" Neela asked.

"We can keep going if you want," Eliana noted.

"It's not that difficult," Raven pointed out.

"Keep it up and maybe I'll forget this whole training nonsense," Neela told her. Raven pouted which was strange for Neela to witness before leaning back in her seat and kicking her feet up on the table.

"And here I was going to tell a story to you and your friend," Raven threw out nonchalantly. Eliana moved to the edge of her seat, staring at Raven in wonder.

"Tell us!" Eliana begged.

"You can't tell anyone what I'm about to say," Raven told them.

"Yeah, yeah, just tell us!" Eliana demanded.

"I fought that girl that your male teammate faced off against during the ball in Atlas," Raven told them. "She's going to kill many people if someone isn't able to find her soon and put a stop to what she's doing."

"What are you talking about?" Neela asked.

"Are you familiar with Ozpin's relics?" Raven inquired lowering her voice.

"Ozpin's whats?" Eliana said.

"Of course they wouldn't have told you," Raven sighed. "When I attended the school Qrow and I were given the ability to become birds for the purpose of spying on Salem for Ozpin, but he never told us what was actually going on and it led to the distrust that got Summer Rose killed and broke up Team STRQ for good." Raven shifted in her chair. "You kids deserve to know."

"What are they?" Neela asked.

"Three relics, two of them made up of the souls of the brothers that created this world," Raven told them. "The last being Ozpin's cane. If the three come together it grants the ability to resurrect Salem if her host is still living and agrees to the resurrection ceremony within Salem's realm. A lot of magical nonsense that doesn't make any sense but is undoubtedly true from what I know of Remnant. The Faunus girl with the staff that Titus fought is carrying on of the relics and doesn't even know it."

"How can she be stopped then?" Neela asked.

"If she doesn't know about its power, it's of no harm. However, the angrier that she became, the more powerful she became. The stone seemed to feed off of her hatred," Raven informed them.

"It doesn't matter though, does it?" Neela asked. "Blake and Yang told me that the bridge was destroyed when the four maidens gave up their powers to seal it off. It was one of Ozpin's fail-safes." Raven smirked.

"So you do know a thing or two," Raven replied. "Well, whatever the reason might be, the Neo-Salems seem interested in them."

"Mom kicked your ass when you first showed up on Patch, I'm surprised that you managed to escape something that powerful unscathed," Neela taunted.

"Again, that girl did not understand how to properly use the stone," Raven repeated. "If she had I might not have made it back alive… Qrow either."

"Should we tell the adults?" Eliana asked.

"Qrow is preparing a statement for both the council and the school already, so there's no need for you to let them know," Raven told Eliana with a wink. "This will cause the military to double its efforts to find the White Fang, which leaves us with one less thing to worry about. Enough of that though." Raven stood up and opened a portal behind her, gesturing for Neela to follow her with Eliana close on her heels. "Can I help you?"

"I can't just hitch a ride back to Patch?" Eliana asked. Raven looked at Neela who shrugged and she sighed.

"Come on then," Raven told her. "But if you expect me to bring you back to Vale or Beacon later, you are sorely mistaken."

"Got it!" Eliana spunkily replied. They stepped through, Eliana's mouth open in awe as they exited and she realized that they were in Neela's front yard, looking around in amazement as the door swung open to the cabin and Shadow raced out to tackle Eliana. "You're getting so big!"

"You always say that!" Shadow exclaimed.

"Because it's true!" Eliana said as they rolled across the ground.

"Hey, Grandma!" Shadow yelled as she struggled in Eliana's grip. "Here to play with me?"

"Neela and I are going to do some training first, we can play later on, okay?" Raven asked.

"Yes!" Shadow exclaimed. She pushed against Eliana who refused to let go.

"Do you have your weapon with you?" Raven asked. Neela hesitated for a moment before biting her lip.

"Um…" Neela began. Raven sighed.

"Are they in your dorm room?" Raven inquired.

"... Yes…" Neela answered her. Raven rubbed her face, weighing her options up before opening a portal and moving towards it.

"Stay here, I'll be back in a few moments," Raven instructed. Neela nodded and headed for the house, eager to see her mothers. She opened the door, stepping inside to find Yang who was watching Shadow roll around in the wet grass with Eliana, and Blake who sat on the couch with her feet curled up to her body, reading a book. She glanced up, smiling at Neela who smiled back and gave her a hug.

"How are you doing today?" Blake asked.

"I'm good," Neela replied. "Eliana found out about those criminals from Mistral that her dad put away and was taking it pretty rough but I got her some ice cream and she got over it. Raven let her come back here with us."

"I'm just glad that you're okay after your run-in with the White Fang," Blake brought up.

"We were a bit overwhelmed but thankfully Raven showed up," Neela said.

"So I've heard," Yang told Neela moving to the kitchen for a glass of water.

"She's still a bit skeptical," Blake mentioned under her breath so that Yang couldn't hear her.

"Everyone at the school keeps telling me," Yang cut back in. "I just need space to process all of it. For roughly forty years she wasn't there for me, she didn't care if she had anything to do with me, and then she shows up when it's convenient and wants to make amends? I want to believe that she's doing it for the right reasons, but we'll see."

"Where is Raven?" Blake asked.

"She went back to the school quick to get my bow and quiver," Neela sheepishly revealed. "I didn't completely forget about our plans, I just forgot my weapon."

"Sounds like someone else I know," Blake offhandedly commented.

"Hey! Sometimes I legitimately forgot to bring Ember Celica to our workout exercises," Yang defended.

"You needed an excuse for us to make out, don't tell me you didn't," Blake said, looking at Neela.

"As if," Yang shot back. "I never need an excuse."

"Mind if I have Neela back?" Raven asked as she opened the front door.

"Sure," Blake replied before Yang could come back with a snarky reply. Neela hugged Blake again before giving Yang a wink and heading into the woods with Raven.

"I understand that you've trained with Yang and Blake for years now, but you need to work on your speed against enemies whose moves you don't already have memorized. Being sure and attacking fast can always help give the upper hand, especially paired with power which you definitely have," Raven instructed her. She put her mask back on and took a battle stance, her sheath spinning quickly to Earth as she prepared her opening move.

"What are we doing first?" Neela asked.

"I'm going to gauge your style," Raven told her. "A blind run for you with the exception of the few times you've watched me fighting your mom and the Fang members."

"Okay," Neela agreed.

"I won't be as soft as those teachers," Raven told her with a gleam in her eye.

"When do we start?" Neela asked. Before she could blink again Raven was already coming down on her, Neela's eyes wide as she panicked and pulled herself back with her grapple instinctually, the air off of the blade cutting her Aura and if it'd been broken already she would have been left with a permanent scar across her cheek. The moment her feet met the ground Raven was coming down on her once again, Neela's body froze as the red streamed from her grandmother's mask like a Grimm's skull. Raven stopped just short of Neela's chest, reaching out with her hand and pulling her in close.

"Are you ready?" Raven asked. Neela's eyes searched the mask, unsure that she was in fact ready. She nodded slowly, Raven tossing her away and allowing her only a moment to regain her wits. "It's not good enough to defend if the enemy doesn't attack you in a way that destroys your defense. Just like I've learned to anticipate and plan my attacks in advance, your defense needs to happen in the same manner. That way, the only way they can break through is if they overpower you."

"I think I get it," Neela replied nodding. Raven moved again with speed that Neela couldn't imagine keeping up with, trying the same move again as last time, but as she landed she maneuvered her sword into the way of Raven's, blocking the first blow before Raven took out her legs and pinned her to the ground by her shoulder.

"Lesson two, even if you're not sure of what you're doing, do it quickly," Raven told her.

"There's no way that I'll be able to keep up with your speed," Neela retorted.

"Don't say that, because it's not true," Raven replied. "I kicked Qrow's ass on a daily basis until he learned to fight like this. Not to mention, don't you have that thing that you can do with your eyes?"

"I can't use it on the fly," Neela stated. "It…" Neela stopped and thought it over. She knew that she could, but it wasn't something that her body handled well, it normally drained her aura faster than fighting an enemy that she couldn't beat normally. "I can only do it while I'm not moving."

"Then we teach you to do that first," Raven told her. Neela glanced at her, her eyes lighting up as she reached up for Raven's hand. Raven pulled her off of the ground and took a step back to look her over. "Trust me, every huntress and huntsman does it. Some of us it takes a little longer to learn, but in time you'll be able to use it in battle, might even make you as powerful as that aunt of yours."

"Everyone does?" Neela asked.

"Yang learned how to use hers without taking uncanny amounts of damage. Blake used to only be able to create a temporary clone. Even my own semblance had its limits at one point," Raven told her.

"How do I do it?" Neela pleaded. Raven chuckled and put her hands on her hips.

"Ever the eager one, yet you won't tell Eliana that you're in love with her," Raven noted.

"I want to be the one to tell her how I feel," Neela explained. "But…"

"You're afraid of what she'll say?" Raven answered for her. "Both responses scare you? Both leave you wondering, what next?" Neela looked at her for a long moment, that's exactly how she felt and she guessed that Raven must have felt those same feelings at some point when she was much younger. "I know how you feel, Neela. However, I won't be much help with that, I've only ever been good at pushing the people that I care about away."

"You're working on it though, aren't you?" Neela asked. "Isn't the most important thing now that you try to fix it?"

"Sometimes it doesn't feel like fixing it will be enough," Raven replied staring back at the cabin.

"Anyways… Semblance training?" Neela asked. Raven chuckled.

"Right," she said turning back to her pupil. "I guess we'll try and start you off with something simple. I'll restrain myself so that I'm not moving so quickly, I want you to use your semblance and then keep using it after you begin defending. Just defend from where you are, you don't even need to move if it eases the strain." Neela nodded at her and thought about Eliana fighting Neo at the beginning of the school year. Had Eliana been advancing her semblance all this time?

"Ready when you are," Neela noted.

"Now!" Raven shouted at her. She ran from roughly fifty yards out, Neela activated her semblance and concentrated, watching as Raven came in at what seemed slow motion and she lifted her sword quickly to block, her mind struggling against her and protesting, but she did so anyway and their blades clashed off of one another, Raven had a clear strength advantage that Neela was able to note. Neela only withdrew slightly, causing Raven to pull back into a full swing and giving Neela a window to make a weak stab at Raven. If it had landed, it hardly would have done any damage, but it was enough to catch Raven off guard, and the older woman leapt back in surprise, allowing Neela to throw herself forward as she pulled her blade back for a stronger attack. Moving her feet forward caused an instant, dull headache that she could ignore for the moment, but with every passing second, it would grow worse.

Raven's blade met Neela's with a force that caused sparks, and Neela could see the smirk through Raven's mask, she knew she was doing well, and she knew that Raven's next move was to overpower her. The blades crashed repeatedly with blinding speed, Neela's body shaking more violently the more she strained and she struggled against Raven's seventh blow, it knocked her onto her ass and she lost the grip on her semblance, chest heaving as she found herself out of breath, sweat soaking her body. Raven held her hand out to help her up.

"How did I do?" Neela gasped as she stood.

"Is your Aura still intact?" Raven asked. Neela felt her body over, consulting her scroll and noting that she was at roughly twenty percent and she nodded.

"Yes," Neela replied. Raven removed her helmet and fluffed out her hair.

"Good, I'll give you a few moments and then we'll continue," Raven said.

"No, you won't," Yang said from behind Raven. Raven froze for a moment before turning around to face her daughter.

"Why not?" Raven asked.

"She's too young to be learning how to do that," Yang informed her. "She could end up getting hurt." Raven's breathing rate increased as she tried to keep her temper in check, but everyone knew where Yang had gotten her own angry tendencies from.

"Mom, I'm fine," Neela protested.

"Not now, Neela," Yang scolded her. She turned back to Raven. "She wasn't raised like you were. I don't want her learning that yet." Yang stopped for a moment and thought things over. "I know it'll help her, but I think it's too much for her to handle right now."

"It won't be as dangerous as evolving my semblance was," Raven informed Yang. "I could have been ripped apart any of those times I tried creating a portal that wasn't to you, Tai, or Qrow."

"If you care about what I have to say, you'll stop teaching her that technique," Yang dismissed her walking away.

"You're saying we have to stop?" Neela asked, her voice biting slightly. She immediately realized her mistake as Yang glanced back at them, her eyes red as she looked at the two of them.

"You can keep training," Yang informed her. "Just not that." Yang headed back to the cabin and left them in silence with each other.

"Was that some kind of test?" Raven asked more confused than Neela.

"I think she's just being overly protective, but normally that's Blake's job," Neela offered with a shrug. "Let's get back to that speed training you wanted to do." Raven stared at the cabin for a few more seconds before nodding and joining Neela once more.
