No…
Jasiri looked at Janja with a gape. For a moment, the world seemed to stop moving. Everything seemed silent.
Her heart stopped for a moment.
She couldn't move for a moment.
Everything felt still and empty…
This is my fault...
Jasiri looked past Janja, and saw Madoa. She suffered a gash on her head. She was still alive as she was slowly getting up but she still looked unfit to fight now.
I shouldn't have let Janja risk his life like this….
Beside her, Cheezi and Chungu looked at Janja as a gasp. " Janja?" Cheezi said.
Scar started to laugh. " Thank you Reirei and Kiburi for that! Now we don't need to worry about that fool!"
Jasiri immediately started to growl as she looked up to him. " You'll regret this Scar!"
" Or what? There's nothing you can do to me, little hyena!"
Kion started to snarl as well. " You won't win Scar. No matter what you do. "
" Are you going to roar my ghost away or what?" Scar mocked. " There's no way to defeat me!"
With every word that came from Scar's mouth, Jasiri got more and more furious. Her claws were scratching the ground and her jaws just clutched even more than they had before. " Good thing you're made of fire, or else I would have snapped your neck."
" Well, lucky me then,"Scar chuckled. " Scar's army! Get rid of these fools!"
Kiburi looked from Janja to Jasiri immediately. " Gladly…" He smirked before approaching Jasiri.
Jasiri turned from Scar to Kiburi and snapped at him. Kiburi ran towards her but Jasiri pounced on Kiburi's head, making Kiburi's head hit the floor. Jasiri got off him only to turn back and bite his snout.
As Jasiri attacked Kiburi, Reirei focused on Kion and ran towards him and leaped to pin him. But as she leapt, Kion thought quickly and leaned back so that Reirei pinned him on his back. As soon as she landed, Kion used his back legs to push her off.
As Reirei was recovering, Kion started to think quickly and get up on his feet. There has got to be a way to defeat Scar. Especially with the roar!
He heard snarling from in front of him, and he looked up to see Reirei ready to launch at him again. Kion narrowed his eyes at her and bared his teeth. " Sick for you to agree on killing an ally of yours."
" He wasn't an ally," Reirei growled. " He deserved his death for betraying us."
" I'm sure his betrayal was for good reason," Kion snarled. " I'd betray a group that would kill me after I did what was right."
Kion took a quick glance up at Scar before returning his eye contact to Reirei. But how am I supposed to defeat a guy made of fire?
Reirei snapped and ran full speed ahead towards him. As she approached, Kion moved aside quickly right before she collided with him. Reirei stopped herself and readjusted herself to attack him again.
Meanwhile Kion faced her as he continued to think about Scar. If only there was a way…Wait…
Reirei walks up to Kion slowly this time, snapping at him with her jaws. Her ears were flat as her eyes pierced through him with anger. " You won't get away this time Kion!"
Fire… Fire! He's made of fire! Kion slowly started to back away from Reirei as she approached.
Kion continued to growl at Reirei, while backing up on the ledge, getting closer and closer to the edge. Kion lowered his body as she approached even more.
" Trust me, when I say this Reirei," Kion said. " If we're not leaving with Janja, you're not staying with Scar."
" Oh, and how are you going to do that?" Reirei sniggered.
" Yeah Kion!" Scar chuckled from behind. " How are you going to do that?"
Kion looked up behind him and looked directly at Scar. " Actually, a friend of yours taught me the perfect way to deal with fire." He smirked before turning back to Reirei. His smirk grew as he looked at Reirei.
Then his eyes flashed amber for a moment, before he was able to let out a smaller roar aimed only for Reirei, which made Reirei fly backwards. She tumbled for a moment after the roar stopped, tumbling into a pair of jackals that were snapping at Bunga on flat ground.
Before they could recover, Kion started to run towards the exit. He ran past everyone that was fighting as shouted to his allies. " Lion Guard! Hyenas! Keep fighting! I have a plan!"
The Lion Guard and the hyenas listened and carried on their fighting. Except Ono who flew over Kion. " What are you doing?"
Scar from behind him, had grown fierceous. " Get Kion!"
Kion looked behind as he saw some army members directing their attention towards Kion, even as they were struggling to get out of battles that they were already fighting. Kion looked back to the exit and shouted to Ono his answer. " I'm going to defeat Scar!"
He was able to reach the trail that lead him out of the volcano. As he ran out, he heard one of the army members growl at him. " Get back here you coward!"
" Find a good spot for me to roar at the clouds, will you?" Kion yelled to Ono.
" Uhh...umm… Affirmative!" Ono said and he looked ahead.
Kion stopped and turned around to the army members there. He didn't recognize any of them as any allies. He took this opportunity to stand and roar them away, to buy him more time. He looked back up to Ono. " See anything?"
" Yes Kion!" Ono confirmed as he nodded his head towards some big cliffs ahead of Kion. "There's a perfect ledge. I'll lead you to it!"
" Thanks Ono!" Kion said and started racing below Ono to find where Ono was talking about.
Kiburi groaned as his head hit the floor for about the tenth time. Jasiri had kept on pinning and biting him with every attempt. Kiburi was bleeding majorly from his snout and he had some wounds on his body. Kiburi was starting to get exhausted from fighting off the hyena by himself. Jasiri had hardly suffered a wound from him, being quick and clever with each move. She had now place her paw on his head, just like he did to Janja.
" What's wrong Kiburi?" Jasiri taunted. " Too exhausted to fight?"
" You're never going to defeat me…"
" Then how come you can't fight me? Is it because…" her next words came out in a passionate anger. " you only pick on others when they're weak or defenseless, coward?"
" No you stupid hyena!" Kiburi attempted to toss her off his head, but with Jasiri's strength and anger, alongside Kiburi's exhaustion, he only managed to lift his head up a little bit before colliding with the floor again.
" I believe you're the stupid one, Kiburi. You're fighting for someone, who only cares for killing. And even after Janja tried to correct his mistakes and Scar still got you guys to kill him, you still side with him! What makes you think Scar would care about you anymore than he did Janja?"
" Because I didn't turn my back on him!" Kiburi snarled.
" And yet, you still do all of his dirty work. Yet, even after all you've done for Scar, you'll never satisfy him."
Kiburi just laid there and his voice rumbled in anger as it grew.
" Come on Kiburi!" Scar yelled to him. " Enough talking! More fighting!"
Just then, another rumble had reached Jasiri's ears. It was louder than anyone else in the volcano. It seemed to have came from above.
Everyone in the battle had paused for a moment and looked up. A large cloud started moving over the volcano. It was slightly darker than the gray sky that was already over them.
Then suddenly, drops of rain started to fall around them.
It started off as a few drops for a moment.
Then there were more and more drops of rain.
More and more.
Scar had widened eyes as he looked down at the lava and back at the sky. " Why is there rain!?"
Jasiri stayed looking up at the sky. She stepped off Kiburi for a moment. She already knew why this was happening. Her pounding heart started to slow as she realized what would happen next.
Now Scar will be defeated!
Knowing this, she closed her eyes to embrace the rain .
As she got off Kiburi, Kiburi switched his attention to Scar as he saw the panic in Scar's eyes.
Scar was frantically glancing at his surroundings as steam started to rise from the lava. "What!? What's happening?!"
Jasiri looked back to Scar as Scar seemed to realize that he was meaning his end.
Fire, defeated by water.
Jasiri felt a small smirk as she witnessed Scar's defeat.
The army members looked with panicked gapes as the rain poured harder and harder. The more rain, the more steam that came up from the lava.
" No Kion! You guys should have got him before he did this!" Scar shouted as the steam surrounded him. Everyone could see that he was fading away slowly. " You cowards should have caught him!"
" Scar…" Kiburi whispered loud enough Jasiri could hear. He seemed frozen, uncertain of what to do.
From behind Jasiri, she could hear Reirei come up from behind. She turned over her shoulder to see her pass by. Past Reirei, in the back of the crowd, she could see Ushari look at Scar with a shocked gwack. He seemed too shocked to know what to do.
Jasiri looked back to Scar as Reirei stood up beside Kiburi." Scar?"
" You guys didn't do good enough! You guys need me! And now you won't have me! Now Kion will still have you as a group of cowards you always were! Stuck here! In a land of nothing!"
"But Scar-" Reirei tried to budge in.
" You guys are just as pathetic as Janja! Incapable of fighting for yourselves! Without me, all of you are useless! Hopeless! And now since you guys couldn't even catch a stupid lion cub, now you are back to being nothing!"
After what Scar said, Kiburi and Reirei stared up with their mouths shut tight. They didn't even bother to speak back.
Scar shouted in agony as his time started to pass. His face was becoming less and less visible as the rain continued and the steam grew.
After about another moment of the rain pouring, Scar had faded out of existence. He shouts had faded with him. The only thing that was in the lava was steam.
The rain poured more lightly once he was gone and eventually, the rain stopped too.
Kiburi and Reirei stood there silently with small gapes with what had just happened. Army members were silent and still as well. From their faces, they were clueless on what they would do now. Their leader was gone. The one that was going to help them win the Pridelands.
And not only was he gone, but he insulted as his last words before he left. They had carried out his plans for him to win over the Lion Guard. And he left insulting them.
As Jasiri looked over her shoulder again, she could see Kion approaching her. Kion ran over to her and started walking slowly when he was close enough. He stood right next to her with a small smile. " We defeated him, Jasiri."
Jasiri smiled back. " Yeah. We did." But as she said that, she looked past Kion and once again, her eyes landed on the one that they were supposed to save.
Almost immediately her heart sank and her ears flattened in sorrow. Kion noticed, and he frowned and flattened his ears as well.
Jasiri started making her way over to Janja. Her head was low as she padded over to him. Her eyes were met with tears as well.
When she was right in front of Janja, she laid down, looking at his face. She could feel her tears fall from her eyes more and more the longer she looked at him.
Kion approached from behind with teary eyes as well. The rest of the Guard went up to towards Kion and stood next to him. Even Scar's army looked on, interested in what was happening.
At last, the hyenas approached from the bottom of the ledge. Cheezi and Chungu looked at Janja with tears, seemingly still shocked on what to do. Nne and Tano flattened their ears as their heads faced the ground. Even Madoa got up and started slowly making her way over to the rest of the hyenas.
Jasiri had started to weep out loud and her weeps only got worse as she continued. After a moment, she began to speak.
" I'm sorry for this Janja," Jasiri whispered. " I...I shouldn't have let you risk your life like this!" She paused as she closed her eyes for a moment. Every memory of him has ran across her mind. Every fight. Every secret meeting. Every conservation. Every confession.
Everything.
She opened her eyes once again. " I'm sorry. I know it doesn't matter now. But-" Jasiri paused for a moment to catch her breath. " I hope you know that… I … still love you…"
She stopped and continued to weep. She settled her head between her paws for a moment before lifting her head back up slightly so she could make her way towards him more. Once she could touch Janja with her nose, she nuzzled his neck. " I love you Janja."
Jasiri rested her muzzle there for a few moments longer. She didn't say a word. She just wept as her tears fell to Janja's fur. With her eyes now closed.
Not a single being in the volcano said a word. If they weren't looking at Jasiri, they were crying themselves or looking at the ground.
But one voice spoke. It was quiet and weak but strong enough to hear what it was saying.
"Jasiri?"
Jasiri didn't answer the voice. She continued to cry.
" Jasiri?"
" What?" Jasiri whimpered through tears. She drew her nuzzle away to face the crowd behind her. The crowd seemed to look towards her with a growing gape, one by one. Jasiri gave them a confused glare. What's so weird?
" Jasiri?"
That's Jasiri realized that the voice was coming from behind her. Jasiri turned back look to where the voice seemed to be coming from.
As she turned, she was met with a pair of familiar amber eyes. The eyes made her flinch for a moment before she made eye contact again with those amber eyes. Looking back made her jaw drop.
" Janja…"
Janja slowly blinked for a moment before continuing.
" Jasiri? What just happened?"
