"This had better be some kind of emergency," Ilia insisted as she opened the door to the beach house. "You kept sending me messages all the way here and it was starting to wear on my last nerve, so either you do some explaining right now or I'm leaving for the day and we can reschedule our dinner." As Ilia closed the door behind her she was slammed against it, a woman about her height the perpetrator staring deep into Ilia's eyes with a hunger that could not be misinterpreted. A fire that made Ilia wonder how it was that she still had clothes on. The girl was starving sexually, her hot breath on Ilia's neck, though it flared something within her and she wondered if this mystery aggressor had a semblance that paired with her desires.
The woman wore a white v-neck that was low cut, accentuating her breasts nicely and doing little to nothing to hide the black lace push up bra that she was wearing. Layered over that was a cropped, brown leather jacket that wasn't buttoned but matched her knee-high boots and mini skirt that was hardly long enough to conceal the ending curves of her ass. Ilia was convinced that if she bent in the slightest, anyone passing by would get an eye full. Her pink eyes melted Ilia, trying to loosen her up. Her deep blue hair at the roots became white at the tips through a slowly lightening gradient, it was pulled away from her face in a loose single french braid that became a ponytail.
"You must be Ilia," she breathed inches from Ilia's neck. "I wonder how you taste…" Her teeth grazed the runaway's clavicle before she was physically removed by someone behind her. Vin had grappled her and trapped her against the bar, making sure not to make direct eye contact with the attacker.
"She's mine, Yvonne," Vin scolded, keeping her trapped for a long moment.
"You can share, can't you?" Yvonne asked coyly, though it almost came off as a cry for help.
"I will not," Vin sternly declared. Ilia broke free of the chill that had paralyzed her and she made her way over for a proper introduction. Vin glanced back at her with apologetic eyes. "Try not to look her in the eye for too long, okay?"
"She can do as she pleases," Yvonne insisted as she broke free. "She's a free woman." The last member of IVRY brushed herself off, extending her hand. "Yvonne Pervenche, pleased to do you."
"No," Vin blurted. Yvonne sighed.
"Pleased to meet you," Yvonne tried again shaking Ilia's hand.
"Ilia Cherny," Ilia replied as Yvonne glared at Vin before heading around the corner for the living room. Ilia watched her walk away before standing beside Vin. "She seems like a charmer."
"That's one way you could put it," Vin agreed. "Anyway, I just wanted you to come over so that we could talk about the reservation I made."
"We couldn't have done this over a call or text?" Ilia asked incredulously.
"Maybe I wanted to see you," Vin offered. "Is there anything wrong with that?"
"You could have just said that you know?" Ilia growled.
"I know, but sometimes you don't want to just hang out," Vin replied. "Sometimes you act like your team is more important."
"When we're training, yeah! They are!" Ilia informed him.
"Are we still doing dinner?" Vin asked her. She glared at him hard for a long minute, her face red before she exhaled slowly and nodded.
"Yeah, we can still do dinner," she sighed.
"We could make it a double date!" Yvonne declared. Vin waved his arms, yanking on Ilia and shaking his head while mouthing 'no'.
"Sure, I don't see why not," Ilia replied. "I think it's more fun that way."
"Ilia!" Vin whispered angrily.
"You did this to yourself," she replied quietly. "You have a boyfriend then?" Yvonne chuckled and walked over to them.
"Not exactly," Yvonne replied.
"Girlfriend?" Ilia corrected.
"No," Yvonne answered, walking her fingers up Ilia's shoulder before Vin swatted them away.
"Why don't you just stay in tonight?" Vincent pleaded.
"And here I thought that you wanted me to do more activities with the team," she noted. "I was just hoping that I could tag along and maybe Ilia could bring one of her friends. Male or female, I'm not picky, just something attractive, you know."
"I think I know someone who wouldn't mind," Ilia mentioned.
"It's a date then!" Yvonne declared hugging herself before strutting through the house.
"Are you insane?" Vin asked moving quickly to Ilia and lowering his voice. "Who do you have in mind anyway?" Ilia shrugged and gave Vin a knowing look.
"Well…" Ilia began. Vin's eyes grew wide as he shook his head.
"Oh no…" Vin started taking a step back. "You can't be serious."
"He's the only one who will agree to it," Ilia noted.
"She'll eat him alive!" Vin shouted.
"And that's what I dreamt about in first period yesterday," Cobalt told Titus as they sat with Lykos for lunch. "What do you think it means?"
"Trust me, Cobalt, you don't really want to know what I think it means," Titus insisted, picking up a hot dog to take a bite. "I'd probably have you evaluated by some of the best psychiatrists that the Atlesian Military has to offer. Of course, that costs precious time and money that I am not willing to give them and they wouldn't be willing to give up themselves."
"I already told him it's just a normal teenage hormone ridden thing to dream about," Lykos replied. They ate in silence for a moment before Titus spoke again.
"So the controls for these mechs are on the girls' asses?" Titus said. "Is that right?"
"I can't believe you said that out loud," Lykos noted.
"I can't either," Titus replied. "That seems like poor designing to me. Even if they look the way you say they do, wouldn't the guy have to lean pretty far forward most of the time? That can't be great as far as lumbar support goes."
"I'm so proud of you," Cobalt said. "You've come such a long way since someone removed the stick from your ass." Titus elbowed him in the gut, doubling him over.
"I'm just gonna go with what Lykos said," Titus agreed. "You're just a horny bastard."
"How do I fix that though?!" He demanded. "It's like I can't help it!" Lykos and Titus stared at him with their mouths agape.
"Did your parents never have the talk with you?" Titus asked.
"Not that!" Cobalt shouted. "I know all about that! But I can't get a woman and there is no way that in the dorm room with my teammates in there that I can-"
"Hey, what's up?" Ilia asked sitting down beside Lykos on the opposite side from Cobalt and Titus.
"Cobalt's blood pressure," Titus replied. "Need something?"
"Yeah, from Cobalt," she answered. Titus and Lykos both looked at him as he began to sweat and pointed to himself.
"Me?" He stuttered.
"You are Cobalt, right?" Ilia noted. He nodded.
"Right," He agreed.
"Vin and I were wondering if you'd want to go on a double date with us and his teammate…" Ilia inquired. Cobalt's eyes lit up as he leapt to his feet.
"Ivory!?" Cobalt fantasized.
"Yvonne," Ilia said. His mind derailed and he stared at her for a moment like the word was foreign.
"Who?" Cobalt asked.
"A teammate of theirs that is never around. She wanted to go with us and asked if I'd set her up on a blind date," Ilia informed him. "You came to mind. If you don't want to though, I did think of asking Tawney as a backup…"
"I'll do it!" He declared. Titus and Lykos looked up at the beaming otaku.
"Alright," Ilia confirmed. "See you at seven at the Mistrali Bistro down by the piers." Ilia leapt back up and rejoined Neela, Eliana, and Bái.
"I've never seen him turn white, green, and red at the same time before," Neela mentioned. "What did you tell him?"
"Neela's turned that color this week every time someone tells me that she has something to talk to me about," Eliana noted. Ilia and Bái laughed.
"You mean like right now?" Ilia asked. Eliana glanced over at Neela who buried her face.
"Look up here, I missed it," Eliana pleaded.
"No!" Neela replied muffled through her arms.
"One of Vin's teammates wants to go on a double date with us so I invited Cobalt," Ilia told them.
"Ivory?" Eliana asked.
"You asked Cobalt?" Bái added.
"Why not Neela?" Eliana speculated.
"I'm fine," Neela groaned.
"She's not," Eliana whispered to them. "She could use a lover."
"I'm a Faunus you know," Neela scolded.
"Faunus need love too," Eliana pointed out.
"Not that!" Neela shouted.
"Then what?" Eliana asked.
"Even if you whisper I can still hear you!" Neela reminded her. Eliana nodded slowly.
"Right, right," Eliana said.
"I thought about Tawney, but when Tawney opens her mouth all that ever comes out is facts about Neela," Ilia told them.
"I'm good at that game!" Eliana exclaimed.
"We know," Bái said with a smile.
"I can go," Eliana offered.
"It's not Ivory, and I already invited Cobalt," Ilia told her. "Besides, don't you and Neela have work to do today? The graduation is coming up quickly and as first years, we're in charge of making sure the thing goes off without a hitch."
"You're starting to sound like Titus," Neela noted. Ilia covered her mouth.
"That did sound pretty by the book, didn't it?" Ilia asked. They nodded at her.
"What all are we in charge of again?" Eliana asked them.
"Oh you know, the stuff that the teachers can't be bothered with," Tawney said as she sat. "Chairs, balloons, setting up the stage, not to mention that everything that I just listed off has to be retrieved from a storage unit out in Forever Fall first."
"What will they be doing?" Bái asked her.
"Most of the teachers cut early for vacation from what I hear," Tawney explained. "There'll only be a hand few here the last day, and probably fewer at the ceremony."
"Why do they get to be done earlier than us?" Bái pried further.
"It's vacation sure, but normally when Yang and Blake took leave early some years it was so that they could have peace and quiet for finishing up grades, grading the finals, and preparing the curriculum for the following year," Neela detailed.
"That's what they wanted you to think," Tawney scoffed, shaking her head. "To think that you'd actually believe that."
"It's true," Neela insisted rolling her eyes.
"Wanna fight about it?" Tawney asked standing up, cracking her knuckles with a smirk.
"I'll fight you," Eliana insisted leaping up.
"Sit down, Elli," Ilia instructed. Eliana did as she was told and Tawney sat back down with a sigh. "Did the girls tell you I got Cobalt a date?"
"Well, if she doesn't leave him halfway through the date or try doing anything really rape-y with vines, I think we can call that a win in the book of Cobalt," Tawney noted.
"Vines?" Neela questioned.
"Long story," Tawney replied.
"You're not jealous to see him going on a date?" Eliana asked. "You two seem pretty close."
"What?" Tawney asked, caught off guard. "Cobalt and I are more like siblings with how much we fight, right? I'd much rather go on a date with one of you three." Tawney's eyes grew wide and she stopped stirring her food around her plate as she looked up at them.
"Which three of us? I was just thinking there were two," Ilia pointed out with a smile. Tawney stood up and left with her tray.
"I'm gonna go kick it with the guys!" She called back. "Fellas."
"Want to hear about Cobalt's dream?" Titus asked with a grin that struck an instant nerve. Tawney returned to the girls.
"Ladies," Tawney said, taking a seat without giving them any more acknowledgment.
"Back so soon?" Neela asked.
"Neela, don't you have something to tell Eliana?" Tawney asked. Neela gritted her teeth.
"No…" Neela sneered.
"Okay," Tawney replied. "Must have misheard a rumor going around." Eliana glanced up suddenly.
"Wait, doesn't that mean that you have to help set up for the ceremony too?" Eliana asked Ilia glossing over Tawney's remark.
"I'm doing it tomorrow," Ilia told her with a wink. "I've got everything figured out."
"Cobalt, I told you to meet us at the Bistro, not at my dorm room," Ilia groaned as she let him in.
"I'm nervous," Cobalt replied as he closed the door behind him and looked at the four of them.
"Almost as presentable as the first time we met him," Neela jested.
"Almost?" Cobalt asked. He wore a black polo with Beacon's crest, khaki slacks to complete the look.
"Yeah," Eliana agreed. "Almost."
"Thanks for the confidence boost," Cobalt replied dejectedly.
"You look good," Neela insisted. There was another knock on the door, startling Cobalt before Ilia shoved past him and opened it. Vin stepped in, wearing the same flashy outfit he had the night that he met Ilia at the dance, with Yvonne steps behind him, wearing what she had that morning. Cobalt's jaw dropped along with Eliana's.
"It's nice to finally meet all of you," Yvonne said. "I always hear the craziest stories about your team from Vin, not to mention in the school paper. Everyone knows you guys are the best of the first years and with that Faunus killer that you took down in Mistral, you all might as well be a full-fledged team!"
"We're flattered," Titus offered.
"I'm in love," Eliana replied in a daze.
"She is not," Neela bit off defensively.
"We'll be leaving now," Ilia chuckled as she took Vin by the arm and stepped out into the hallway. Ilia paused for a moment, looking back into the room before Cobalt broke free from his own paralysis and followed after them, offering his arm to Yvonne.
"Ilia was right, you are quite the looker," Yvonne said playfully.
"You're not too bad yourself," Cobalt stuttered. Yvonne laughed.
"I like him already," she said.
"And you said that this was a bad idea," Ilia jested. Vin rubbed the back of his neck.
"I didn't quite mean it that way," Vin confessed. "I was just hoping that maybe we could have some alone time tonight." Ilia sighed.
"You know I'm not ready for… that…" Ilia reminded him quietly.
"Are you sure?" He asked. She glared at him. "Right. We'll wait then."
"So, how is the food at this place that we're going?" Yvonne asked as they reached the stairs. "Surely a rich boy like you has been there once or twice.
"It's pretty good," Vincent said.
"I've never been there," Cobalt mentioned in unison. There was a long silence before Yvonne spoke.
"What was that?" Yvonne asked.
"Sorry, I thought you were talking to me," Cobalt replied. "My parents have a lot of money, my father has been making weapons for the Vale police force and local huntsmen ever since he graduated from the academy." Yvonne's eyes lit up and Vin shook his head.
"Is that so?" Yvonne asked.
"Yvonne," Vin scolded.
"Calm down," she replied. "I'm just getting to know him."
"As I was saying before, it is pretty good," Vincent repeated. "Ilia and I have been there a couple of times."
"Great," Yvonne declared.
"How are they doing?" Vincent asked as he took a sip of his water and stared into Ilia's eyes as she looked past him.
"Well, I'm not the best at reading lips, and I'm not a Faunus, so it's not like I can hear them per se, but it doesn't look like they're saying a whole lot to each other right now," Ilia told him before meeting his eyes and looking away blushing. "Don't look at me like that."
"But you're just so beautiful," he confessed. She kept her eyes averted.
"I'm flattered, I really am, but I used to hear those kinds of words all the time when I was in a bad place," Ilia told him. "So thank you, really, but just… don't overdo it with the compliments."
"Sure," he agreed, nodding. They glanced over at Yvonne and Cobalt again, both of them pretty quiet but Yvonne would say something on occasion and chuckle.
"I just wish things were going a little better for them," Ilia said. "Especially Cobalt. He can be a bit of a creep from time to time, but his heart is normally in the right place. Normally…"
"I don't see it, but I guess I'll take your word for it," Vin replied with a laugh.
"So you invent things, huh?" Yvonne asked him.
"Not anything as nice as my dad has ever made, but a few things here and there," Cobalt explained. "Made a bracelet that allows one of my friends to control her semblance better. Just finished up something else for her that is a bit of a surprise."
"Can you tell me?" Yvonne asked him. Cobalt nervously twiddled his fingers.
"It's nothing against you, but I prefer not telling anyone about it just in case it doesn't turn out," Cobalt said sheepishly. She nodded.
"Understandable," she agreed, drinking the last of her water.
This is going horribly, isn't it? All this small talk… I've hardly asked her anything about herself, but I'm afraid that if I say too much that I'm just going to ruin everything and it'll all just be over in an instant! Think Cobalt! Play it cool! What would you do in one of your dreams right about now? Crazy unrealistic nonsense, that's what! That doesn't work out here in the real world! If this all falls through at least I can say that I went on a date this year, which is really one more than I expected. Plus I pretty much saw Tawney naked so, two goals in one year? I can't complain, can I?
"You two ready to blow this joint?" Vin asked passing by their table with Ilia.
"You two are done?" Cobalt asked.
"We thought about dessert, but I don't think I could eat much more if I wanted to," Ilia admitted. Cobalt stood, extending a hand and helping Yvonne out of her seat as he threw his lien onto the table and they wandered out onto the pier and headed for the beach house.
"So what's it like staying on the water in such a nice house?" Cobalt asked. "We have a lot of money, but the majority of it goes into savings, my parents just live in a small apartment in the middle of town."
"The sun rises and sets through my window every night over the water," Yvonne said as they strolled slower than Ilia and Vincent, the couple gaining distance away from them as they enjoyed the moonlight. "Really hard to complain about that, to be honest." She stared out at the water for a few seconds before turning to Cobalt. "So, what keeps you going?"
"To be honest," Cobalt confessed. "I've been wondering about that myself for the last couple of days. I don't exactly fit in, and my shenanigans kind of just get me in trouble…"
"Why did you decide to come to Beacon?" She asked as she toed closer to the water, staying where the water wouldn't quite reach her feet.
"To become a hero," Cobalt admitted.
"And that doesn't drive you?" She asked. "If that's your dream, go for it!" He laughed. Who was this girl and why was she so optimistic?
"What keeps you going?" Cobalt asked her.
"Can you two hurry up back there?" Ilia asked. "Vin says he's going to lock you out and he knows you lost your keys, Yvonne!"
"Coming!" She called back. She motioned Cobalt with her head. "Let's go!" They chased Ilia and Vin down, managing to slide in as Vin was shutting the door, Cobalt giving him the thumbs up.
"With the way she ran back, I was starting to think you were serious," Cobalt huffed out of breath.
"He was," Ivory called from the couch with a wave. "He's locked me and Rowan out on several occasions."
"We have a curfew for a reason," Vin said as Ivory bobbed her head back and forth mocking him.
"Like what?" Rowan asked popping his head up next to his sister. "You're the only one under the microscope, none of the rest of us here are family."
"Thank Oum," Ivory said.
"You wouldn't want me as a brother?" Vin asked sarcastically.
"No," she replied flatly. "Not to mention we've done things that no brother and sister should do together."
"Ivory!" Vincent yelled. She laughed.
"Such a gentleman," Ivory joked, waving him off. "Whatever…" Yvonne dragged Cobalt past them all into the hallway connected to the kitchen.
"I had a good time," Cobalt offered, rubbing his chin as he looked about awkwardly.
"I did too," she said. She placed a hand on his chest. "But… it doesn't have to end yet you know." Now we leav… what did she just say?
"Come again?" He asked. She moved in closer, her body pressed against his, giving him an unashamed view of everything that normally crossed his mind when he was left alone with someone as attractive as her.
"I said that it doesn't have to end yet," She repeated as she kissed him hard on the lips taking him off guard. They were soft, but more importantly… they were real.
"Are you sure this is okay?" He asked her, breaking free for a moment before she reached past him and opened the door to her room.
"It's more than okay with me," she growled, shoving him into the room as she slammed the door behind her. They all glanced down the hallway, Vincent shaking his head.
"And here I thought that they weren't hitting it off," Ilia noted.
"This is the first time you're meeting Yvonne, isn't it?" Rowan asked. She nodded.
"Yvonne has never walked through that door before with a partner and not ended up in the bedroom within about 5 minutes," Ivory explained. "If they weren't going to have sex, Yvonne would have left Cobalt at the door back in the dorms."
"Is she some kind of sex addict?" Ilia inquired.
"That's not quite the way to put it," Vin noted.
"It's more like a pastime for her, it's like a fun puzzle for her that ends with sweet, sweet orgasm," Rowan answered. Ivory shoved him.
"Don't word it that way," Ivory shouted at him.
"It's true!" He defended. Vin nodded.
"She'll probably have a date set up with someone else by the end of the week," Vin told her. "The only reason she came back here was that the dorm wouldn't offer much privacy." Vin walked to the kitchen and poured himself a glass of milk before gesturing towards Ilia.
"No thanks," she replied. He shrugged and put it away, downing it in one swallow.
"You know that you can stay here for the night if you don't want to go back to the dorms," Vincent offered.
"Vin," she scolded, getting upset. "What the hell is your problem!?" Ilia walked to the door, unlocking it and leaving quickly without closing it after her.
"What did you do?" Ivory asked him.
"Nothing," he defended loudly waving his arms.
"I don't buy that," Ivory said standing. "You told me what happened last time, just lay off of her for a bit."
"You don't know how badly I want her," Vin snapped before he realized what he said. His eyes widened. "It's been a while, you know?"
"Has no one in this house heard of pleasuring themselves?" Ivory asked. She pointed at Rowan and glared at him. "Do NOT answer that."
Cobalt's body jerked awake, his chest heaving as he looked around the room, noting an endless body of water just outside the spotless glass window that spanned the entire wall, the light glaring off of the ocean pierced his eyes as the beauty of it all shook him. He wasn't at the dorm, which meant that he hadn't some sort of fever-induced fantasy. He glanced over, Yvonne's naked body lay sprawled out across the bed next to him. Cobalt's mind melted entirely as he lay back down and Yvonne cuddled up to him.
"How did you sleep?" She asked. How did I sleep? Can we talk about the thing that happened before that, because that was insane!
"Great," he said, enjoying the warmth of her skin.
"You were way better than I expected if I'm telling the truth," she laughed tracing his chest. She sighed.
"So can we do this again sometime?" Cobalt asked.
"Never really been my thing…" she confessed biting her lip. He exhaled deeply.
"I know," he retorted. She looked up at him.
"What?" She asked.
"Rowan's has told me more times than I can count that it almost seems like you're trying to set a record or something," Cobalt chuckled. She furrowed her brow.
"Is that what he said?" She asked. Cobalt nodded. She looked out the window. "You said wanting to be a hero drives you." She laughed. "I know it might sound crazy, but I want to experience as many people as I can in my life. I figured that if becoming a huntress could help me achieve that, so be it."
"I've heard crazier things," Cobalt assured her. She gave him a questioning look. "Okay, no I haven't."
"And yet you're asking me if we can do it again?" Yvonne laughed.
"You miss one hundred percent of the shots you don't take, or some nonsense like that, right?" Cobalt asked. She smirked.
"You know what," she told him. "If I ever have a night that goes awry, I'll consider you." He shrugged.
"I can live with that," he agreed.
