Chapter 3: Secrets

[That Monday after the job interview, Henry walked into school as proud as ever. He was a superhero sidekick!]

Charlotte: Hey, Hen! Did you get the job?

Henry: Did I get the job? What do you think?

Charlotte: Yes?...

Henry: But get this, I'm Kid Da-

[Henry covers his mouth noticing his mistake quickly. He remembers the oath, "Never ever ever tell anyone that I am Captain Man's secret sidekick.]

Charlotte: You're what now?

Henry: I'm a kid... We're all kids!

Charlotte: Yeah... *weirded out*

[Suddenly, the bell rings for 1st period.]

Charlotte: Let's go to 1st period... Kid.

Henry: Yeah, let's go... *slightly embarrassed*

[After school, Henry and Charlotte walk to Henry's house. They didn't really have homework, so they went into Henry's room.]

Charlotte: Hey, Hen. I just noticed something.

Henry: What's up?

Charlotte: You never told me how the interview went.

Henry: Oh, yeah. It was crazy! There was this guy behind the counter named Gooch, and he was petting a Venus flytra-

[Beep Beep Beep! Beep Beep Beep! Henry's watch was going off three times, which meant there was an emergency and Ray needed him.]

Charlotte: Why is your watch beeping?

Henry: Uhhh... It's reminding me to... exercise... Yeah. Gotta run!

[Henry quickly runs out of the room to go to the Man Cave!]

Charlotte: See you later, I guess...

Henry: Bye!

[Henry runs as fast as he can to Junk-N-Stuff. After he gets there, he goes down to the Man Cave, going through the same craze of the elevator ride after the first time in Junk-N-Stuff.]

Henry: You have got to get that elevator fixed!

Ray: Kid, you're finally here.

Henry: What's the emergency?

Ray: There's no emergency.

Henry: You beeped my watch three times... You said that meant there's an emergency.

Ray: Oh, you're right. There's no emergency.

Henry: Really, Ray? You made me leave the girl I like for nothing...

Ray: Ooohhh, who's this girl?

Henry: Her name's Charlotte. Super cute, funny, adorable.

Ray: High School romance, I remember it like it was yesterday.

Henry: Eww, dude.

Ray: There's no emergency, I just wanted to show you something, one of tons of things out of our new gadgets as superheroes. Voila! Gumballs!

Henry: Woah! You mean I can transform into Kid Danger like you did into Captain Man when I first met you?!

Ray: Yeah. Cool, huh?

Henry: I love it!

Ray: But be careful, to other people it may look like ordinary gum, so if they chew it and pop it, they might find out your secret.

Henry: Got it.

Ray: Try it out.

[Henry pops a gumball into his mouth. Remembering what Ray did the other day, Henry blew on the bubble gum and transformed into Kid Danger.]

Henry: How did you make this, dude?

Ray: Schwoz made it.

Henry: What's a Schwoz?

Ray: You'll meet him later.

[Henry's phone started ringing. It was his mom calling him about dinner.]

Henry: Ok mom, I'll be home in 10 minutes. I gotta go home for dinner, Ray, you should come sometime.

Ray: Ony if I get to meet your mom.

Henry: Please stop...

Ray: Remember kid: Be careful with the gum, and just so you know, the red gumball is for changing into Kid Danger and the blue gumball is for changing back into your regular clothes.

Henry: Gotcha! See you later, Boss!

Ray: Bye, Kid Danger.

[Henry immediately smiles at that name. After he gets home, he's suprised, but is also happy that Charlotte stayed for dinner. After dinner, Charlotte's mom told her she could spend the night, and she was happy to, because could she spend time with her crush! She slept in his room and they talked for hours until they both fell asleep with Henry in his bed and Charlotte on his couch. This was the best night ever for both of them!]
