Chapter 1: The Immortal Samurai
(Opening A/N: This is a crossover of the anime Jormungand and the Netflix movie The Old Guard, it turns out that an immortal Samurai from feudal Japan has been living as a mercenary and he has died over 1,000 times earning the title, "The man of 1,000 deaths" but it seems that a pharmaceutical company is interested in learning about his immortality and try to harness his secret of staying alive forever, but he also wants to make money by selling weapons, and he has a score to settle with another sworn immortal who betrayed him by killing his family, and thus the deadliest game of cat and mouse begins. This story is rated M for blood and gore, strong graphic violence, adult language, nudity, use of drugs and alcohol, and for sexual content AKA Lemons, and as for the disclaimer I don't own Jormungand for that is owned by Keitaro Takahashi and The Old Guard is owned by Netflix, so without further ado here's the first chapter.)
[Oda Castle 16th Century Japan]
Two samurai charged into a burning Oda Castle in order to assassinate lord Nobunaga Oda, both samurai were members of the Takeda clan, their target was right in front of them.
"You've got nowhere to run Nobunaga, it's all over for you!" The first samurai said as he drew his katana.
"Insolent fools if you strike me down, I will forever curse your soul to walk this earth till the end of time!" Nobunaga sneered and the Samurai cut down Nobunaga killing him, just then a black mist began to swell around the two Samurai as a pair of demons possessed their bodies infusing their flesh and bones with the curse of Nobunaga cursing them with immortality.
Just as they were about to escape, a group of archers and musketeers aimed their weapons at the two samurai as they were hit with musket balls and arrows, the two Samurai who were cursed with immortality laid on the ground as the archers and musketeers left the area knowing that their job was finished. The castle burned to the ground as well as crushing the duo.
As soon as the castle collapsed, the samurai who was cursed with immortality woke up since it was a really bad memory from hundreds of years ago. His English name was Jason Thorn but his actual samurai name was Hashimori Sanada.
He changed his name after immigrating to America, he's fought as an American during many countless wars, The American Revolutionary, Civil, World War I and II, the cold war, Vietnam, even Afghanistan and Iraq.
He is now a soldier of fortune or a mercenary for hire, since his wars are never really over, he walks the earth as an immortal war machine hell bent on tasting the sweet release of death which he cannot attain due to the immortality that was cursed upon him.
"Babe are you alright?" The woman asked him if it turns out that this was his second wife since his first and their children were killed by his partner.
"It's alright, I just had a bad dream is all." Jason said as he slid out of bed.
The wife then showed that she was actually four months pregnant with their soon to be coming child.
He then slips on denim jeans and a black t-shirt and his boots.
"Where are you going exactly?" The wife asked holding her hand over her stomach, and Jason also placed his hand over hers showing that he is willing to protect what is his unlike his old family from the past.
"I'll be back...just need to take a walk."
"Alright. Be safe."
"Same to you."
After giving his wife a kiss, Jason walks out of the house. When he leaves, his wife starts to feel worried about her husband as she doesn't know what's bothering him. It's clear that Jason hasn't told his wife who he really is nor that he's immortal.
Jason then grabs his leather jacket, katana, and a semi automatic Glock 28 handgun as he straps it onto his belt.
He then reaches inside the jacket as he pulls out a pack of cigarettes as he flicks out a cigarette, puts it between his lips and as soon as he went outside as he lit the cigarette and took a puff and due to his immortality not even nicotine or alcohol poisoning can kill him.
And smoking made him feel more human even though it was a horrible habit for him.
(Great how am I supposed to tell Amanda that I am an immortal and that I can't die let alone age?) Jason thought to himself and it turns out that Amanda is the name of his wife that he married two years ago.
Just then an elderly man appeared behind Jason with his gun drawn to the back of his head.
"You got another one?" The elderly man asked with his finger curled around the trigger as Jason slowly reached into his Jacket pocket and pulled out the pack, he then quickly grabs his gun and points it at the elderly man, to Jason's surprise it was Lehm.
"You son of a bitch, you almost gave me a heart attack." Jason said as he and Lehm put their guns away.
Lehm took a cigarette off of Jason and Jason lit it up for him.
"The boss lady wants to see you, she says the offer is still open, and we could use someone of your capability to get this job done also it should be good pay for your wife and your upcoming kid." Lehm insisted no gun to the head or offer he can't refuse type of shenanigans.
"Alright, then I will accept the boss lady's offer and when do we begin?" Jason asked, and Lehm broke out into a smile, he then pulled out a phone and dials a number, the phone rang three times and there was a woman's voice on the other end of the line.
"I trust that you are accepting our offer?" The woman's voice asked and it turned out he met the woman before, her name was Koko Hekmatyar, the head of the European branch of H and C Logistics Inc. or HCLI for short. It turns out that they're in the arms dealing business basically selling weapons for the sake of world peace.
"Yeah I'm taking up your offer and I accept, when do we begin?" Jason asked, and it seems that they were being trailed by some federal agents CIA to be precise and they also were keeping an eye on Jason since they know about Jason's immortality.
"That's our guy, we might want to keep an eye on him!" Said the first agent.
And then a 2006 Hummer H3 rolled up as Ugo the driver shows up pick up both Jason and Lehm, and as soon as the two men got into the Hummer, Jason began to have his suspicions about them being followed since the government is interested in finding out about his immortality but he wants no one, not even Amanda to know his secret.
I mean it would be bad enough if she found out that she was carrying an immortal's child or something were to happen to the kid, he swore he would protect the ones he loved even if it meant risking his own immortality for that sake.
And he knew that being a mercenary and a father were two of the toughest jobs ever.
He had a family once but it seems that they were killed in 1946, by his "Friend" who fought alongside him back during the Feudal Japan war and also helped strike down Nobunaga Oda.
But he still couldn't shake the feeling of being followed, and he knew that the agents inside the matte black sliding panel door van were following them.
'Seriously, talk about being conspicuous, you guys really need to come up with something better than that.' Jason muttered to himself, and Ugo began turning off a street as he knew the van was still following them.
Luckily for Jason he came prepared he had a caltrop tucked away inside his jacket and he could still the pain of stepping on one.
Jason then opens the window and tosses the caltrop onto the street without the suspecting tail to realize they were about to run over a caltrop that Jason left on the road until the caltrop did it's job and punctured the driver side front wheel as the driver got out and began to curse.
"Motherfucking piece of shit! We lost them!" The driver said, kicking at the flat wheel.
[Flashback to two weeks ago…]
Jason was enjoying a good shot of whiskey as an albino woman wearing a white two piece suit and she was followed by a woman with an eyepatch over her right eye along with a Japanese man with glasses and of Lehm.
"Jason Thorn I presume." The albino woman said as she sat on a bar stool next to him and he had another shot of whiskey poured for him.
"Can I help you?" Jason asked.
"My name is Koko Hekmatyar, and I hear you're a hard man to kill." Koko said as she handed the man her card, H&C Logistics Inc.
"Pretty obvious that I don't want to be found." Jason said, showing that he was wearing a wedding band on his left second finger showing that he is happily married.
"Relax, it's a business proposal, I'm in need of a man of your stature, in fact if you do this job for us you and your wife will be all taken care of in finances." Koko said with a smirk.
"I'm listening." Jason said with undivided attention for the businesswoman.
"I run a European arms dealing business and I am in need of someone to be my bodyguard. What do you say, you don't have to answer right now I'll give you two weeks to come up with an answer." Koko said as she then ordered a sex on the beach.
Jason then pulled out his bill fold and pulled out a $100 bill to pay for not only his drink but also Koko's drink as well.
"I gotta get back to my wife, she's probably worried sick about me." Jason said as he grabbed his jacket and headed out the door with Koko's business card in hand he then tucked it away inside his jacket as he then grabbed his helmet and got onto a 1994 Ducati sports bike, of course the alcohol doesn't even affect him either since he drank 3× the legal limit and he is still driving as if he was sober.
As soon as he got home Amanda came and greeted him with a kiss.
"Did you find any work honey?" Amanda asked and Jason pulled out a card showing that he might have some work lined up for him.
He loved everything about his wife, her long beautiful blonde hair, her soft sea green eyes, her beautiful snow white skin and even the fact that she was carrying a child inside of her.
The loving couple then went into the living room and they sat there watching TV.
[Present Day…]
As soon as Jason looked at the cargo ship which is going to be his temporary residence when he conducted business with Koko, just then his phone rang and it turned out it was Amanda.
"Hello?" Jason asked as he answered his phone, and it turned out even though he is an immortal, he adapted to the ever growing world of technology.
"Are you taking the job babe? Because if you are, please promise me you'll come back for the birth of our baby." Amanda said on the other end.
"I promise I'll be back before the due date." Jason as as he ended the call with the Mrs.
"Who was that if you don't mind me asking?" Lehm asked, Jason then showed his wedding band, and he knew then and there that he was a married man.
"How long have you and the Mrs. been married?" Lehm asked out of curiosity.
"Two years and we were finally blessed with a kid." Jason said knowing that the kid is still mortal just like it's mom.
Then the rest of the team shows up, Wiley, Mao, Lutz, Valmet, Tojo, along with Koko and Jonah were all there to greet their newest member.
"Everyone, I would like to introduce our newest member to the HCLI team, Jason Thorn. We lost someone close to us and Jason here will be a fine addition to our team and also, he's an immortal." Koko said, letting Jason's secret out into the open.
The young boy known as Jonah was a little skeptical about Jason's immortality.
"Are you really an immortal as Koko said?" Jonah asked as Jason then pulled out his Glock and pointed it into his left hand squeezing the trigger firing off a single bullet through his hand and sure it did hurt him, but the wound quickly healed up in a matter of seconds.
"Does that answer your question?" Jason asked, still stinging from the pain of shooting himself in the hand.
'Memo to self, do not shoot yourself in the hand to prove you're immortal, it still hurts like hell.' Jason said to himself.
[Meanwhile with the members of Immortal mercenaries known as The Old Guard…]
Andy was aiming a KRISS Vector .45 submachine gun aimed at the ready in case any armed guards were going to shoot at her and she knew that she had lost her immortality and she could die.
They were infiltrating a mansion owned by a pharmaceutical conglomerate, who was using their money to hunt down an elusive immortal and use his immortality skills in order to make an immortal drug of some kind.
The place was heavily guarded since there were armed guards patrolling the area of the mansion.
Of course Andy wanted to know what this company wanted with this mysterious immortal and she decided to have the rest of the team give her cover since he wanted to see what they were planning.
She goes up to a security camera and shoots it causing one of the security feeds to go snow blind.
"We got a camera out, someone go check on it, the surveillance monitor said as one of the guards came out of the mansion to check on the camera but he had a M4A1 carbine assault rifle in hand and pointing out towards the front gate.
Andy kept her position against the wall to the mansion's front driveway as the gate opened and the armed guard came down the driveway.
Andy screwed on a silencer making sure nobody would hear the gunfire, she waited until he came close to her as the guard noticed the security camera was shot and busted causing him to draw closer, as soon as the guard was close enough, Andy pops out of cover and fires four shots all four of the shots went through the guard's head as soon as the guard's corpse dropped back first, she grabs the guard's corpse and puts it into a car shutting the door making sure that no one found the body and reported it for more backup.
As soon as Andy made it inside the mansion, she then began to dig through the piles of information looking for anything on a mystery immortal, she then sees a computer which was still logged in and it was still on, she then began to pull out a thumb drive and placed it into the computer as she began to copy all the information on it.
She then turned around and saw a timeline on the immortal the company was looking for.
Andy then saw a Civil War picture with a man standing behind a then sitting Ulysses S. Grant and he was another one of his Generals and the secret successor to the Union Army.
Andy then saw the name of the mysterious man, "Jason Douglas Thorn."
She then knew that she needed to find him and find out the secret to his immortality, and if there was a way to keep her immortal as well.
The thumb drive was full of the information on Jason and all that was left was his last known location, and it seems that she found out where he and his wife were, San Modesto, California.
