"tris, wake up!" christina shakes her violently as tris tiredly opens her eyes, "what?" she sighs. "dauntless are having an escape drill come on let's go!"
"where's tobias- i mean four?"
"i don't know, he probably already left with will! i couldn't find him either."
" let me just get dressed."
as tris gets dressed she worries about where tobias is what is happening. why would they all of a sudden have an attack drill? they haven't for the last 5 years? "do we need to go get the initiates?" tris asks,
"yeh, i think so."

"come on, get dressed!" tris shouts, waking them all up.
"why?" one of the candor initiates asks.
" because we're having an attack drill." tris informs them, "don't ask me again."
finally they're all ready to go. tris leads them to the pit where everybody is standing in long lines. where is he? tris thinks. this better be good. she spots eric and walks over to him.
"stay here." she says sternly. "if any one of you is gone when i get back you will be sorry."
"ok." they all say in slow unison.
as she walks over to eric she chews on her lip to distract herself from the fact that tobias is missing. " hello." eric says. she can tell by his tone of voice and his greedy smile that this was planned. " what's going on?" she asks.
" we're having an attack drill."
"who would want to attack dauntless?"
"annnyyyboddyyyy" he winks and walks off.

she spots him and runs as fast as she can towards him, the impact almost knocking him over. " whoah, hey." he says calmly.
" where were you?"
" erm."
"where?" she asks, more strictly this time.
" haha fine i was taking the dauntless born to the pit."
"why didn't you wake me up?!"
he reaches for his back pocket and pulls out a long thin stick with two lines on it and dangles it in her face.
" how did you get that?"
" i was cleaning the bathroom and i found it in the cupboard."
" i- you-we..."
"tris...it's ok."
"i was going to tell you i swear!"
" well i know now." he says
beaming.
