Somewhere in Season 5, before TOW Everybody Finds Out.

I know I said the conversations would be between the six main characters, but I've changed my mind. I thought it would be more entertaining if I used some of the other characters as well.

GOOD ENOUGH

He watched from the corner as she burst out laughing talking to Rachel and other childhood friends. Her smile was still one of the favorite things in the world. She was always gorgeous, but in that red dress and wearing that perfect smile, she was a knockout. He couldn't wait to get his hands on her after they went back home.

He wasn't so sure about going to this party, but just seeing her so happy made it all worth it. Yes, she was pretty nervous on their way over, but he was able to calm her down and talk some sense into her irrational fears. All of them involved her mother, as always. He secretly loved the calming effect he seemed to have on her. He prayed it would never go away, because it made him feel needed. Needed by her especifically, which was that much more important to him.

"How long have you been in love with my daughter?"

The question made him choke on his own saliva. He turned around as he tried to get himself together.

"W-what?" His voice was hoarse as he came down from his choking session and stared unblinking at Judy Geller.

"I said, how long have you beenー"

"I heard you." He stopped her. "I meant, what made you think that?" He couldn't have been hiding that badly. Wasn't he allowed to look at a friend with appreciation for their natural beauty? Meh, maybe he wasn't hiding that well.

"Body language, of course." Judy answered with a wave of dismissal. "Just answer the question." The woman was a lot more intimidating than he ever gave her credit for. Maybe even Monica's father would've handled this using a less aggressive approach.

"Body language?" Chandler tried to laugh, but it came out as a nervous chuckle. He cleared his throat. "That's awfully ambiguous."

"Are you really going to continue avoiding the question?" She crossed her arms and he swallowed. The woman was a lot shorter than him, but the way he was making her feel made him believe she was as tall as Ross and as terrifying as pitbulls. "I'm not leaving here until you answer me."

Chandler had no idea what Judy wanted to hear, which only left one option: tell the truth. However, he wouldn't tell the whole truth. He could avoid the part about him sleeping with her daughter for the past four months.

"I'm not sure." He sighed and his eyes automatically found her in the crowd. She was still laughing. He calmed himself with the knowledge that she was happy. "It just kind of snuck up on me." He looked back at Judy, preparing himself for everything from a slap to a hug. He was pretty sure she didn't like him, even though he had no idea why, so he thought the slap was a lot more likely.

She was silent for a moment, probably analyzing his expression to check if his words were true.

"Does she feel the same way?"

Good question, Judy. Very good question.

"Can't you figure out from her body language?" He fixed her with a smirk, but the woman was not amused. He swallowed and cleared his throat again. "Sorry, I recur to humor when I'm nervous."

She was still waiting for an answer, but he realized he didn't have one. Monica seemed to be on the same page as him, but he was never very confident about his driving on the commitment road. He usually crashed and burned.

"The truth is, Mrs. Geller," he started with a sigh. "I have no clue if she feels the same way. I know she cares about me as more than a friend, but I'm not sure if she's quite where I am." He explained, as truthfully as he could. It would do no good to lie to her, especially in the constant angry mood she seemed to be in.

"I see." She said, her only reaction was uncrossing her arms and joining her hands in front of her body. He shifted his weight from one foot to another, waiting. "Why haven't you told her how you feel?"

"Talking about my feelings? What kind of hell is that?" He joked before he could remember she didn't appreciate his antics. His jaw almost fell when he saw a hint of a smile on her face and a sparkle on her familiar blue eyes.

"What is it that you plan to do, then?"

"I plan on doing nothing." He told her, encouraged by her positive reaction. "I'll be patient for the first time in my life and see how it goes. Basically, I'll follow her lead."

"Don't you think she would appreciate someone active in their pursuit?"

"I'm not completely passive." He smirked, but stopped immediately. He cleared his throat and avoided her eyes. "I mean, I just don't say it with as many words as someone else would." He smiled softly. "Sometimes, when she has late shifts, I try to come home from work earlier and sneak in her apartment to clean as best as I can before she comes back. A-and sometimes, when she's too stressed out, I watch that god awful movie with Julia I-don't-know-who that she likes so much." He breathes in. "And when she's really sad, I try to cook and always fail, because I know it makes her laugh every time." He stared at his shoes. "I do those things and hope that maybe, deep down, she knows how much I care."

They were silent, and he found himself lost in thought, remembering every time she was sad, or exhausted or anxious. It hurt him almost as much as it did her, and not doing anything about it simply wasn't an option. He needed to make sure she felt better. Always.

"Ok." Judy said and his eyes snapped back up at hers. She was staring at him curiously, but there was closure on her tone. "You can go now." She nodded her head in Monica's direction. He looked at her with a raised eyebrow.

"That's it?" He asked, confused. "Aren't you going to tell me I'm not good enough for her?"

"Do you think you're good enough for her?"

"No." He answered promptly.

"That's the first step to become good enough."

Then, she left.

A/N: Unfortunately, it's possible that I won't be posting anytime soon. I've got a lot of stuff to do now that the second half of the year is rolling, so my posts won't be weekly anymore. More like monthly.

See you soon :)
