Anyways, Enjoy!

Chapter ~ When Time Stands Still

Light shown through the old orphanage, the beds all empty, save for one. Young Abel snored quietly, cuddled into a ball, a small smile on his face.

He began to wake, leaning forward, and yawning, letting his body stretch, before looking out towards the window. He sat there for a few seconds, before a wide smile crept onto his face.

"It's my birthday!" He screamed in delight, jumping on the bed.

"It's my birthday, it's my birthday, it's my birthdayy!" He continued to chant, before falling down onto the bed.

"I wonder if Mr. Xavier will come to visit me! I did tell him it was my birthday!" Abel questioned to himself, before rolling over to the bed.

"Minun, hey Minun, it's our birthday!" Abel called out in delight. For the past three years, the two had declared that they would share a birthday, since neither knew Minun's actual birth date. Every year had been a celebration between the brothers and Mayleen; no other children cared to participate.

But that didn't matter to Abel, he had all needed already with him.

He poked his head down to awaken his brother, only to see a note where his bed was. He picked up the note, squinting as he read it.

"Abel, happy birthday! Minun came with me to get a few things, please meet us in the fields!" Abel read out loud, before grinning! "Oh boy, is there gonna be cake! I hope there's cake!" Abel shouted out, before he barged out the door, rushing towards the field.

Xavier walked through the doors of the orphanage, a proud look on his face.

He had timed everything so well, and without failure. Today, on Abel's birthday, Xavier was going to adopt Abel. It would be the perfect birthday gift.

There to greet him at the door was Mayleen, her Gengar at her side as usual.

"I was wondering when you were going to show up. Are you excited?" She asked, knowing that Xavier had been planning a long time for this moment.

Xavier smiled. "Excited and nervous at the same time.. I hope he'll be happy." The young man explained sheepishly.

Mayleen shook her head with a laugh. "Don't worry, I'm sure he'll be thrilled. Come, he and Minun should still be asleep." She said. The two walked towards the back, eager to break the good news to Abel.

X.x.X

Abel ran up the field, a bright smile on his face. As he ran, he noticed that there wasn't anybody by the tree where they always met. Abel shook it off, deciding that it was just Mayleen and Minun playing a trick on him.

"Ok guys, I know you're hiding, come on out, let's celebrate!" Abel called out, looking around the field. He was met with more silence, before he heard a small squeal.

He turned over to the tree, his smile dropping as he watched Minun fall to the ground, tied up with rope, and a rubber glove covering a majority of his head.

"Minun!" Abel called out, running over to his brother, before another figure fell out of the tree, landing on top of Abel. The young boy couldn't hold the weight of the figure above, and felt his body plummet to the ground below.

Abel groaned in pain as he sat there, before the boy above him got up.

"Geez, that hurt.. stupid rat." Marcelo insulted, rubbing his back, before he realized who he had fallen on. He grinned maliciously, before looking at the tree.

"It's time!" He called out. Two other boys fell from the tree, this time landing on their feet. A Cubone also fell from the tree with them.

"Huh? Marcelo, what are you doing?" Abel questioned, fear in his eyes.

Marcelo continued to just grin at the boy, before kicking him in his side.

"We're just here to give you your birthday present.. it's something you've had coming for a long time!" Marcelo declared, before he looked at Cubone.

"Boneclub on that stupid rat!" Marcelo demanded. Cubone nodded, before proceeding to wack Minun across the head. Minun wailed out in pain, only to receive another kick from one of the boys. Minun was flung back over to Cubone, who proceeded to strike Minun again.

Abel began to tear up. "Stop, stop this! Why, why are you hurting him!?" Abel called out, only to be struck by Marcelo, this time taking a blow to the head.

"Shut up freak." Marcelo barked. Abel tried to get up once more, only to be kicked down by Marcelo once again.

Minun held his side in pain, before he felt Marcelo strike him across the face. Abel wailed in pain, as Marcelo picked him up, only to punch him again.

"It's about time you finally learned your place, freak." Marcelo explained, putting a foot on Abel's stomach, pressing down hard.

"You're here because your parents didn't want you. They didn't want you or the stupid hyper body that came with you. You know what that makes you?" Marcelo taunted, pressing his foot down harder.

Abel said nothing, only groaning in pain.

"It makes you below us! You don't get to have anything! No family, and no friends!" Marcelo finished, lifting his foot, and slamming it back down.

"Augh!" Abel screamed, holding his stomach in pain.

Marcelo grinned again, before walking over to Minun. "Cubone, Bone Club, hit the stupid rat until it stops breathing."

Abel's eyes opened wide. "No.. no you can't!" Abel yelled, trying to lift himself up.

Cubone lifted it's bone once more, before it began to repeatedly strike Minun. Minun could only sit there in pain as he took the attack over and over, blood beginning to spill from his body.

Cubone lifted it's bone once more, ready to finish Minun, before Abel's screaming could be heard.

"No!" The young child screamed, running straight into the Cubone, and diving into Marcelo.

Marcelo's eyes widened as he fell to the ground, a punch connecting to his face. He howled in pain, only for another punch to connect to his face.

Abel threw punch after punch, striking Marcelo across the face each time. "I don't care what you say about me, nor do I care about what you do to me!" Abel shouted, tears streaming down his face, "But I won't let you hurt Minun! He's all I have!" Abel screamed out.

Abel pulled back another punch, only to feel his arms be grabbed by the other bullies. They dragged Abel off of Marcelo, who got up with a scowl.

Blood trickled down Marcelo's nose and mouth, indicating that Abel had punched rather hard. He dragged himself over to Abel, before rearing back his fist, and socking Abel across the face, as hard as he could. He waited for Abel to recover, only to strike him again, and again. Marcelo said nothing as he continued to strike Abel.

Finally, having had enough, Marcelo walked over to Cubone, before grabbing it's club. He held the sharp end to Abel, and got ready to strike once more.

Abel's eyes widened as he watched Marcelo wind back his arm. "No, stop! You're trying to kill me!" Abel screamed out, trying to snap Marcelo out of his senses.

Marcelo stopped for a few seconds, not responding. The wind howled across the field, giving noise to the currently silent scene. Marcelo looked up at Abel, with a grin across his face. Abel struggled to get free, only to find the other bullies were holding him tight.

"Goodbye.. trash.." Marcelo taunted, before he swung the bone at Abel.

"Trump Card, Eevee!" Xavier's voice rang from across the field. Marcelo turned his head to see white streaks of light being fired off from Xavier's Eevee, with Xavier and Mayleen not far off.

The powerful streaks of light struck across the field, creating enough force to push back all of the children and pokemon.

Abel felt himself get flung across the grass, before he landed softly against ground. He looked over to see Minun just a few feet away. Using the last of his strength, he got up and ran over to Minun, untying him and taking off the rubber Glove.

"Minun, are you ok?!" Abel questioned, holding his dear friend in his arms. Minun opened his eyes slowly, taking in his surroundings. Once he saw Abel, his face lit up; jumping onto Abel's shoulder and nuzzling him to show he was fine.

Abel laughed, glad to have his friend back.

Marcelo got up from the force of the explosion, looking up in fear to see Xavier and Mayleen run towards them.

"Gengar, use Hypnosis!" Mayleen called out, her Gengar appearing from the shadows, and releasing his hypnotic waves.

Marcelo scrambled to get up, dodging the attack, unlike his friends, who noticed too late, and were put into a silent slumber. In a desperate attempt to run away, he scrambled for the forest, only to feel a force strike him in the side. He fell to the ground like a sack of rocks, looking up to see an angry Abel and Minun facing him down.

Minun's cheeks sparked with anger, before he struck the young bully with a Thundershock. Marcelo hollered out in pain, before giving in to his injuries, and fainting.

Abel and Minun looked at each other with cheeky grins, before they too succumbed to their pain, both friends falling to the ground.

Xavier's eyes widened in fear, running up to the boys. "Abel, Minun! Speak to me lads!" He called out, picking up Abel, and shaking him slightly.

Abel opened his eyes slightly, looking at Xavier with a smile. "Some.. birthday.." He claimed, before closing his eyes. The last thing he heard was Xavier and Mayleen discussing what they should do with the children.

Professor Omni burst through the doors of the hospital, not stopping for even a second when he rushed past the receptionist, he merely tossed her a card as he rushed by her. The receptionist examined the card, and once she saw who it was, she said nothing.

Omni continued to rush past the halls, nearly tripping over his own feet until he stopped at the hall with security guards. He handed them his ID, and was quickly allowed access further in.

From the inner halls, Omni continued to rush, until he came to another door. Surrounding the door from the halls were Ash and Co, each with worried faces.

Omni stopped his mad dash, staring at Ash.

The young adult hadn't even noticed Omni come in, deep in thought. On his shoulder lie Serena, asleep.

"Ash? How did you get here?" Omni asked, confused.

Ash, finally hearing Omni, looked up; his eyes lit with Aura. "They let us in since we made the initial call." Ash answered, looking back down. "Iris and Lance are in there as well."

Omni's eyes widened from the news, but quickly shook it off. He looked back at the door.

"How.. bad is it?" Omni asked, hesitant to even go inside the room.

Ash continued to stare at the floor, deep in thought. "It's not good, his body is charred, there's even a possibility the attack reached his organs.. it would be a miracle for him to survive now." Ash answered.

Omni nodded, his eyes starting to tear up. As we went to open the door, Lance quickly stepped out, his eyes filled with confusion and sadness. He looked at Omni, only giving him a curt nod, before taking his leave.

Omni didn't look back as he entered the room.

The room would have been pitch black, had it not been for the light of the stars piercing through the window. As Omni walked in, he stared directly at Abel, who was lying in bed, multiple IVs attached to his body. On a bed next to his lay Minun, in similar condition. Next to Abel's bed lay Iris, her head resting on Abel's bed, tears in her eyes.

Omni slowly began to approach the three, making as little noise as possible. He grabbed a chair from the opposite side of the room, and placed it next to the foot of Abel's bed. He sat there, and stared at Abel, his hands on his chin, as if in deep thought.

Iris looked over, wiping her tears from her eyes. "You.. you must be Professor Omni." She stated, her voice dry from her previous crying.

Omni looked towards her, and nodded. "And you must be Iris.. my boy's said a lot about you." He complimented.

Iris blushed slightly "Only good things, I hope." She responded. The two sat in the silence of the night for what seemed like forever, neither knowing what to say.

Finally, having enough of the Silence, Omni looked up. "Why was Lance here?" He asked, curious as to what business the Kanto/Johto champion had with Abel and Iris.

Iris shook her head, her eyes filled with a fiery rage. "He came to ask what happened. I told him what had happened, and he had the nerve to say otherwise. That fool will follow Oak until the ends of the earth." She claimed, a deep frown filling her face.

Omni looked on in shock at the mention of Oak. "Oak? Oak did this?" He asked frantically, looking up towards Iris. "Oak is the one responsible?!" He demanded. This was finally beginning to worry Omni. Oak was nothing but an old man, how could he have caused all the damage?

Iris nodded, trying to stay calm compared to Omni's frantic movements. "Yes.. he used some power that I haven't seen before, to make his pokemon extremely powerful, it took everything myself and Abel had to defeat him, but in the end, it wasn't enough to stop this from happening.." Iris explained, breaking down into tears.

"It's all my fault that this happened, it's my fault that Abel might die!" She cried out, tears streaming from her face.

Omni, unsure as what to say, could only frown as the Unova Champion cried out in pain. He looked towards his Son, examining his charred body. The wounds clearly went beyond his skin, Omni could see that much. A tear finally shed from his eyes, his pain finally beginning to leak out.

"It's just like Sophie and Sandra all over again" Omni thought to himself in pain. He looked towards Iris, who had finally begun to stop crying.

"Please, Iris-" Omni called out, getting her attention. "Tell me everything that happened, I must know."

Iris wiped away her tears, a look of determination spreading across her face, she nodded, and began to tell her tale.

X.x.X

Abel felt nothing, not his body, clothes, nor his pain. All of his senses felt as if they had left him completely, as if nothing remained of him. Suddenly, he heard a loud howl of wind, and began to feel the gust of said wind pierce his body.

With a jolt, the teen woke up, quickly slinging his body up, only to feel extreme pain from doing so.

Taking a few minutes to take a breather, Abel examined his surroundings. He appeared to be in a never-ending room, surrounded by grass and white roses that littered the field. He looked at his hands, to see them burned to a crisp; his clothing was that of hospital garnets , covering what Abel knew was the rest of his burned body.

He couldn't quite recall what had happened beforehand, but he remembered Iris, and a double Hyperbeam attack. The rest of the details were foggy, and he couldn't recall the exact details of anything. He slowly stood up, feeling less pain than he did originally, but still enough to make him wince.

He surveyed the area with more detail, noticing that there were items strewn across the field around him. Upon approaching them, he realized they were his pokeballs, Talonflame's, Sceptile's, and Tyrantrum's, to be exact. He was unsure how they got there, but knew he couldn't just leave his friends behind. He picked up their pokeballs, and shrunk them, placing them within one of the pockets in his clothes.

He looked around a little more, before noticing a small lump of white and blue lying limp among the roses.

Abel's eyes widened in fear, realizing it was Minun. He rushed towards his brother, ignoring the pain that struck him as he did so. He knelt down, and scooped his brother up in his arms. He examined Minun, noticing that Minun looked burned, much like Abel, but to a lesser degree. His body was limp, and Abel could feel many broken bones in his body. He teared up, fearing the worst, before he noticed Minun's eyes flicker.

The little mouse slowly opened his eyes, seeing his brother's face. He smiled slowly, not daring to move, less he hurt himself even more.

"Hey buddy, how are you feeling?" Abel asked, holding his brother carefully.

Minun squealed out quietly, keeping his smile.

Abel smiled back at him, keeping him cradled within his arms. "So.. are we dead?" Abel asked to himself, standing back up.

Minun looked over the area, having seen it for the first time. He sat there in silence, awed by the area around him.

"It's strange.. I don't feel dead, but I don't feel alive either?" Abel continued to ask himself. He looked back at Minun. "What about you?" He asked, hoping to get some reassurance.

Minun shook his head, having no answers for his brother.

Abel sighed, unsure of what to do, before a force began to pull at his soul. He turned towards the force, feeling it pull him. He looked at Minun, who seemed to be feeling the same force pull on him too. Minun looked back, confused.

"Well, do you think we should follow it?" Abel quizzed. Minun looked back in the direction of the force, unsure of what to do. He looked back at Abel, and grinned.

Abel grinned back at his brother. "Guess so, no better direction to go I suppose!"

With that, with Minun still in his arms, Abel began to walk towards the force that pulled him in it's direction.

Abel and Minun continued to walk through the silent space, following the force that pulled them in it's direction. Neither spoke on the way, barely having enough strength to walk.

Abel began to feel his feet give out on him, before he finally fell to the ground, writhing in pain. Minun could only look at his brother in fear, trying his best to comfort him by nuzzling him.

The young teen gripped his side in pain, before he began to feel the force pull once more. Finding the will to move on, Abel got up, and began to keep walking towards the unknown force pulling him towards it. He looked towards Minun, seeing the fear in his brother's eyes.

"Hey, don't worry, I'll be fine." Abel assured him, looking back up. "It'll take more than a couple of burns to keep me down." He joked, continuing to walk.

The brothers continued to walk for what felt like hours, days even, before something other than roses began to come into sight. Upon further inspection, Abel noticed that it was the orphanage where he grew up. His face scrunched up in confusion, as he approached the doors, feeling the pull grow stronger.

As he got closer and closer, images began to appear around him. They were the other kids who had lived among him in the orphanage. Closest to him were Marcelo and his other friends, and the Cubone he had. They stuck their tongues out at him, before running away. As he approached even more, he noticed a family appear; A husband and his wife, along with two other girls, one was a little older, while the other appeared to be the same age as Marcelo had been. Behind them stood Omni, Aunt Sandra, and Sister Mayleen, who all smiled at him. As he smiled back, he found himself finally at the door.

The door was old and beaten, and it pulled him towards it as if it had a grip on his heart.

Not wanting to wait any longer, he looked at Minun, both brothers nodding, before he pushed the door open.

Not a moment later, the scenery around the brothers began to change rapidly, the roses were blown away by a powerful gust of wind, and the orphanage dissolved into nothing but the doors Abel had just opened, before finally sucking him and Minun in. As soon as they had passed, the doors slammed shut, quickly dissolving themselves.

Abel felt his body come into contact with the floor, dropping Minun in the process. Both brothers moaned, expecting to feel extreme amounts of pain from the fall. But to their own surprise, the pain never came.

Abel looked up, before sitting up only to once again feel no pain. He looked at his body, noticing that, while he was still charred, he felt no pain at all from sitting up. Deciding to test it further, he jumped to his feet, once again feeling no pain.

Minun, feeling the same effects as Abel, jumped to his feet in excitement, before leaping onto Abel's shoulder, nuzzling the young teen.

"Hey, knock it off, that tickles!" Abel laughed in excitement, nuzzling his cheeks with Minun's in response.

The two brothers laughed, before the force that originally pulled them appeared once again, this time much stronger than before. Abel's eyes widened as he turned to confront the source of such power.

He nearly fell back in shock as he and Minun found themselves face to face with none other than Arceus.

The God of Pokemon stared at them silently, not saying anything nor moving at all.

Abel felt his body begin to tremble, both in fear and excitement. Minun tried to move, but felt himself unable to, his body paralyzed with fear from what he was seeing.

The brothers returned the stares of Arceus, the silence of the room filling the air like water, before the silence was finally broken.

"Welcome, young heroes" Arceus greeted, his voice filling the room with power. Abel and Minun could only shiver from the immense power.

"Are.. are you the real deal?" Abel asked, confusion dripping from his voice.

The God let out a bellowing laugh. "Yes, it is I." Arceus answered, with a calm voice.

Abel looked at his brother, their eyes wide as can be, before staring back at Arceus.

"I guess that means we're truly dead, aren't we?" Abel stated, falling to the grown, landing in a sitting position.

Arceus nodded, turning away from the brothers. "I'm afraid so. The attacks go deeper than just your skin. Your bones and Organs were also hit in the process. Your bones are weak, and your organs burned with your body. And Minun put too much of his strength into his final attack, shattering his body." Arceus explained, facing away from the brothers.

Abel nodded in understanding, looking at Minun. "Guess we finally went to far." He stated, his brother nodding sadly. "Yet, at the same time, I don't regret anything.. If it hadn't been me, it would have been Iris, and I would never forgive myself if I had let that happen." Abel claimed, looking towards the sky with a proud smile. "I just hope Dad will forgive me." Abel said to himself, looking towards the ground.

Arceus turned back to the two; they looked as if they were grinning. "Oh come now, I didn't call you here just for you to die." He said with a small chuckle.

Abel and Minun looked towards Arceus with hope in their eyes. "What do you mean?" Abel asked, finally standing up.

"Abel, your life has been that of a Hero. I know of your endeavors across your journeys, as well as your deed in saving Xavier Omni from the terrorist attack many years back. You have also done me a bigger favor by aiding Ash and his friends. It would be a shame for you to die now." Arceus explained.

In a flash, Arceus began to emit waves of aura from his body. Abel's eyes widened, quickly throwing his arms up, braced for impact. Much to his surprise, however, the waves of aura merely phased through him.

Abel and Minun felt a cool breeze flow through their body as the waves phased through them, as if it were cleansing them. Abel looked at his body, seeing the charred marks slowly begin to fade away. Eventually disappearing completely.

Soon after, the waves of aura stopped, Abel still staring at his hands in shock. "W-what happened?" He asked, looking back towards Arceus in shock.

"I have revived your bodies, and repaired your damaged bones and organs as well. Here, you'll notice that the effects took place rather quickly. In the real world, it will take longer. You will, however, survive, the both of you." Arceus answered, staring the two down.

Abel and Minun sat there in shock, before they began to grin wildly.

"Wow, thank you so much Arceus! You really are the greatest!" Abel screamed, jumping into the air. Minun jumped with him, leaping high into the air, only to come crashing down onto Abel.

The brother's fell onto their backs, groaning in pain, before they began to laugh it off.

Arceus smiled at the two, before speaking up once more. "As I did mention earlier, your wounds in the real world will take time to heal; I estimate it will take a week at most; just in time for the third round of the tournament."

Abel couldn't wipe the smile from his face, looking back up towards the God of pokemon. "Arceus... thank you." Gently, he lay down on his back, ready to rest until it was time to wake up.

Once again, however, Arceus emitted a chuckle. "Hold on another moment. I have one last gift for you." He claimed.

Once again, Abel and Minun both sprang up from their original positions, this time with more fever, thanks to their healed bodies.

"Really?!" Abel asked in shock, his eyes beginning to sparkle in excitement.

Arceus turned away from the brothers, slowly walking away. He turned towards them, and beckoned them to follow him.

"Yes. As thanks for all you have done, I intend to grant you one wish. Anything you desire, it will be yours." Arceus claimed. In truth, they already knew what Abel would wish for, Arceus just wanted to hear Abel say it, for their own dramatic affect.

Abel looked towards Minun, his eyes wide from shock after hearing Arceus' words.

Minun looked at his brother, reading his eyes. Excitement filled his face, nodding at Abel, signaling him to go ahead and make the wish Abel wanted to make.

With a wide grin on his face, Abel looked towards Arceus. "Well, it's always been my wish to meet Dialga, mine and Minun's both. It would be an honor if you could make that happen."

Arceus grinned, "Consider it done." In a flash, Arceus' eyes began to glow with power, and a pillar of light began to emit from the Hall of Origins.

The three sat in silence, the brothers unsure of what to say or do, before a loud howl was heard. In mere seconds, a portal formed mere yards away from Arceus, with the mighty Dialga floating out.

Dialga roared ferociously, a more unstable power flowing from him, unlike the calm and intimidating power of Arceus.

Abel and Minun sat there in silence. They had spent so many years trying to track down Dialga, they had dreamt of it for so long, and now the legendary pokemon that they sought out was right in front of them, waiting for them to approach. Despite all that, neither moved. They couldn't, the power of these legendary pokemon was too great.

Arceus spoke to Dialga in a tongue that neither Abel nor Minun could understand. The legends before them continued to speak in this language for a few moments, before Dialga nodded. With what looked like a smile, Arceus vanished, leaving the three alone.

Dialga looked towards the brothers and began to approach them.

Abel felt himself began to visibly shake in fear and excitement. He glanced at Minun only to see his brother still frozen in place. As the young teen turned back towards Dialga, he found the legend staring him right in the face, making Abel jump back in shock.

"Uh.. H-hi." Abel greeted, waving towards the dragon.

"Hello, child." Dialga responded, speaking in a gruff voice.

"I-it's a pleasure to finally meet you in person." Abel said, trying to keep himself calm.

"...Hmf.." Dialga grunted, turning around. With a giant leap, Dialga jumped towards the other side of the hall.

Abel and Minun looked at each other, confused, until Dialga spoke up again.

"Well?" Dialga shouted from across the hall, snapping the two out of their confusion. "Arceus spoke to me about you, and how you are as a trainer."

"He.. did?" Abel questioned, still unsure as to what Dialga was getting at.

Dialga grunted again, nodding. "That is correct. However, I wish to see for myself what kind of trainer you are." With that, Dialga got into position, letting out a roar of power.

Abel threw his arms in front of him, as the wind generated from Dialga's roar pushed against him, with Minun clinging onto Abel's shoulder. The two brothers looked at each other, beginning to grin wildly, finally understanding what Dialga was getting at.

Abel reached into his pocket, grabbing a pokeball. He grasped it into his hand, before holding it out against Dialga.

"Very well." Abel stated, giving off a toothy grin.

"I accept your challenge!"
