Chapter ~ Ruby Royals
Wallis took a sip from his tea as he and Emie watched Micheal and his friend train together. It had been a couple hours since they had begun trailing the two, so Wallis already knew that this trainer was his teammate for the tournament. Anabel was her name, a frontier brain from Kanto. After watching her battle, he was confident that he would beat her.
He also took the time to count the pokemon Micheal had on him, examining each one. Sure enough, they were the same pokemon Micheal had escaped with all those years ago.
Wallis laughed to himself. "It seems his family hasn't grown any since our last encounter, has it?" He exclaimed, looking over towards Emie.
Emie had spent the last two hours glaring at the girls who were with Micheal. Sure, one of them was clearly too young to be seen as a threat, but she did nonetheless. He hair had changed color to a sickly green as she glared daggers at the girls in the party, before jumping as Wallis smacked the table lightly enough to get her attention.
"Hey, don't stare, less they notice." Wallis demanded, getting Emie to look away with a frown. The two continued to watch the trainers, before Micheal called his Gallade over, talking with Anabel.
Wallis saw it as the perfect opportunity to move in. "Let's go." He declared, sitting up from his seat. Emie followed suit, giggling to herself giddily

The cool breeze blew through the park, providing a nice retrieve from the surprisingly hot winter day. Caleb and Aubree sat on the grass, watching as Justin and Anabel trained their pokemon. For the past hour, the two had worked with the pokemon they had on them, working to find a good team composition.
With Justin was his: Mew, Gallade, Absol, Blissey, Chesnaught, and Aegislash, while Anabel was sporting her Espeon, Alakazam, Bruxish, and Metagross.
After the two had been training for the better part of the hours, Anabel sighed heavily, before sitting on the ground. "Ok, I think I know what team composition we should go with." She explained, watching Justin as he sat down next to her.
Justin wiped the sweat from his now cocoa brown hair, using his hands to shade himself from the glaring sun. "And what would that be?" He asked, turning his attention to the Salon Maiden.
"Well, I believe we should lead with Aegislash and Metagross. While they share a bit of the same weaknesses, I noticed that your Aegislash has some prominent Physical attacks that can match well with Metagross' Special attacks." Justin responded with a nod, prompting her to continue.
"After that, I believe Blissey and Alakazam make a good combo as well. Alakazam is extremely powerful, albeit frail. Your Blissey has a lot of supporting type moves, such as Heal Pulse and Heal Bell, not to mention her naturally high defenses, I think they will work well." She declared.
Justin looked over towards the Nurse-like pokemon as she tended to everyone's wounds from training, scolding Absol for her use of Guillotine in the process. "Yea, I think that would work perfectly." Justin agreed, turning his attention back to Anabel.
Anabel clapped her hands together. "Perfect! And Finally, I think Gallade and Espeon would work wonders together.. I have my own Gallade back home, you see, and the two work together perfectly, and given your Gallade's fighting prowess, I think they'll work just as well, if not better." Anabel declared. Justin only sighed in response, much to Anabel's curiosity.
"Unforunately, Gallade isn't much of a 'team player' these days. Not even with his own teammates, so I'm afraid it wouldn't work." Justin explained, looking towards the psychic type pokemon.
Anabel frowned, looking towards the solemn pokemon. "Do you think it comes from an event in his past?" She quizzed.
Justin tensed up, before answering. "Yea.. kind of a personal thing.." He explained.
Anabel gave a curt smile, before standing up. "Then just leave it to me!" She declared. Justin looked at her in confusion, before she explained.
"As you know, I can calm the human emotions, giving them a wave of relief. I can also do the same for pokemon, with the added benefit of curing them of their depressive states! I believe that if I were to have a few minutes to pick at his emotions, I could help him get back to his old self!" She suggested.
Justin began to smile, automatically agreeing to the proposal. "Hey, that might work! Let's give it a try."
Justin stood up, and snapped his fingers. "Gamma, to me!" Without hesitation, Gamma, who had been listening in on the conversation, sprang into the air, landing right next to Justin. He looked towards Anabel, and nodded, before approaching her.
Anabel giggled. "He likes to get right to the point, doesn't he?"
Justin nodded, laughing in response. "I'm afraid that's been a trait of his forever. But go ahead, and work your magic." Justin declared.
Anabel nodded, before resting her hand on Gamma's head. A strong purple aura began to surround Anabel's hand as she weaved through Gamma's emotions.
She looked towards Justin. "What all can you share with me about Gamma. The more I know, the more I can do." She explained.
Justin put his hand to his chin. "Let's see.. well, I've been with Gamma since he was born; I hatched him out of an egg. He's strong and protective; having traveled with me through all my journeys, I would say he's easily my strongest pokemon. He also... no wait that won't be of much help." Justin hesitated, running info through his head that could help Anabel.
"No, tell her what you were gonna say. Every piece of information is valuable, no matter how small" A somewhat nasally voice declared.
Everyone shifted their attention towards the voice. In an instant, Justin, Caleb, and Gamma froze, the hair on their skin standing straight forward.
Wallis and Emie walked forward, smiling at the group as they did so.
Caleb stood up in an instant, his eyes turning a dark shade of black as he eyed the two trainers. After getting a good look at them, the two hadn't appeared to change too much. Same hair, same nasally voice. The only real difference were the obvious features that came with adulthood.
All the emotions that had crept their way into Justin's mind had sprung forward in a matter of seconds, fear rising within him. He turned towards Gamma, seeing a flame begin to kindle in the Psychic type's eyes.
Before Gamma could do anything, Justin returned him to his pokeball, more afraid of what Wallis and Emie would do to Gamma, rather than the other way around.
Wallis and Emie continued to approach the group, before Anabel got in front of them.
"I hope you don't mind me asking, but who are you two, exactly?" Anabel asked politely, before being gently pushed out of the way by Wallis. As they did so, Anabel caught Emie giving her a nasty glare.
Wallis didn't give an answer until he was right next to Justin, plopping his elbow down on his shoulder. "My name's Wallis, and this is Emie. It's a pleasure to meet you, we're good friends with 'Justin' here. Or, should we call you by your real name, since we know it?" Wallis taunted, grinning at Justin.
The young adult said nothing as he shoved Wallis off of him, walking away from the two. "Leave me alone."
Emie spoke up, her hair turning pink. "Come on, Mikey, you're not still grumpy about what happened all those years ago, are you?" She asked in a cute voice, only infuriating Justin more.
Aubree looked over to Caleb, having stood up herself. "Hey.. how do you know those guys?" She asked, getting the hint that something was amiss.
Caleb continued to not respond to Aubree, beginning to step towards Wallis.
"Come now, I thought I taught you never to turn your back on a superior, Micheal." Wallis said, his words dripping with malice. He grabbed a hold of Justin's shoulders, only to throw his other hand up, blocking a punch from Justin.
Everyone went silent as things began to escalate. Justin's pokemon stood on guard, glaring at the people they knew all too well.
Anabel reached for her phone, beginning to call the police, before Wallis spoke up again.
"If you want us to leave so badly, we will. But only after you and I have a match. I'm curious, how do we compare in battle now?" Wallis quizzed, genuinely curious himself.
Justin sat there for a moment, feeling the cold win pierce his skin. "I battle you, and you leave?" He asked, confirming Wallis' words.
Wallis nodded, his grin still plastered on his face. "An official Ruby Royal match. How about it?" He confirmed.
Justin stood there for a moment more. Weighing his options. He remembered most of the rules of a Ruby Royal match, except for one detail. He quickly deduced that it didn't matter, wanting to get Wallis out of here as soon as possible.
"Deal."

Justin and Wallis stood on opposite sides of the park, with Aubree, Caleb, and Anabel watching from the sidelines. Caleb had moved a park table over, and was now sitting on it, with his hands covering his face; completely intent on analyzing the battle.
Emie stood up as referee. "This will be a three on three match between the Ruby Royal Guild Leader, Wallis Alterne, and the ex Ruby Royal, Mic-Justin!" Emie stuttered, catching a glare from Justin.
"Let the battle begin!"

Neither Justin nor Wallis said a word as they launched their pokeballs into the air. Justin revealed his Chesnaught while Wallis revealed a strong looking Weavile.
Both pokemon glared at each other, before Justin snapped his fingers.
Chesnaught jumped into the air, before his fist began to glow an orange tint, indicating a Drain Punch.
Wallis grinned, before he whistled softly. Weavile grinned, and threw his hands up into the air, launching a giant sphere of ice towards Chesnaught.
Justin put his hands into an X shape, before clapping. Chesnaught's other hand began to glow the same orange tint, before he began to spin himself in the air, like a Hitmontop.
Chesnaught collided with the Ice sphere, creating an explosion that blew Chesnaught back into the air.
Wallis struck another pose, before Weavile began to multiply in number, zipping around the battle with the power of Double Team.
From the side lines, the group watched in awe as neither trainer spoke a word.
"'What's going on, why aren't they giving commands?" Aubree asked, watching in awe.
Caleb took a moment to answer, watching the battle continue. "Because that's not how Guild Battles work." He declared.
Anabel and Aubree looked at Caleb, completely confused. "Guild battles?" They questioned.
Caleb didn't respond.
Justin struck another pose, as Chesnaught began to flip in the air. His arms began to glow with tremendous grass energy, before giant vines began to extend from them, indicating a Frenzy Plant.
Wallis simply grinned at the attack, before he whistled, and struck another pose.
Weavile grinned, forming large ice shards in both of his hands. Just before the Frenzy Plant could strike Weavile, he dodged the attack, and then pierced the plants with the shards. In a matter of seconds, the ice began to expand throughout the vines, eventually reaching Chesnaught before he could recharge. Once the ice touched Chesnaught, a large, icy explosion occured, forcing Chesnaught into the ground below.
Once the dust cleared, Chesnaught was revealed to be completely knocked out. Justin frowned, before returning the Kalos starter, before releasing Absol from her pokeball.
"What was that attack?!" Aubree exclaimed, having never seen an ice type attack so powerful.
"Frozen Spike: It's the equivalent of a Frenzy Plant or a Blast Burn." Anabel explained, surprised that Weavile new the super attack.
Not taking a moment to breath, Justin pressed on the mega stone on his amulet. Absol began to glow with rainbow energy, transforming into her mega form.
Wallis whistled in fascination, before, snapping his fingers. Weavile grinned, before it began to launch an Ice Shard attack at Absol.
Justin shot his hands into the air and snapped, before Absol began to sprint towards Weavile, slicing each attack with her horn.
She leapt into the air just a little, before she struck the ground, creating a Stone Edge right at Weavile's feet.
The dark type pokemon didn't hesitate to jump into the air instantly, as Wallis whistled in short breaths.
Weavile's hands began to glow with orange energy, before smashing a Brick Break into Absol's back.
Justin struck another pose, as Absol attempted to get up, only to have her head struck with another Brick Break. Not giving her a chance to move, Weavile continued to strike Absol repeatedly until Wallis called him off.
Justin ran over to Absol, checking her condition. Absol lay on the ground completely wiped out, not even having a chance to look at her trainer. Justin sighed, before returning the Dark type pokemon.
"That Weavile.. is super strong." Anabel commented, watching it wipe the floor with Justin's team.
Caleb said nothing, watching Justin as another cold front blew through the park.
Justin sighed, knowing there was only one pokemon that matched Weavile's ferocity. Taking his pokeball from his belt, Justin sent Gamma out to battle.
Gamma glared at Weavile and Wallis, so desperately wanting to punch both in their smug faces.
Wallis called for a time out, before returning Weavile into his pokeball.
Justin looked over in confusion. "What are you doing?" He asked, impatient.
Wallis laughed. "Just thought I would make this battle a little more interesting!" He lobbed a premier ball into the field.
As the pokemon formed from it's pokeball, she sat on the ground, a shine appearing from her blue and white body.
Justin, Gamma, and Caleb all stared in shock as the pokemon looked around, before seeing Justin and Gamma. She stood up in shock, bringing her hands to her mouth.
Caleb stood up from his seat. "No way..." He exclaimed.
Aubree and Anabel sat in silence as well, but with a different side of surprise.
"Woah! He's got a shiny Gardevoir?!" Aubree exclaimed, admiring the pokemon before her.
Justin stood there in silence, falling to his knees as his eyes met Gardevoir's.
"..Delta?" He asked, looking to confirm that the pokemon before him was the one he knew.
Delta nodded her head, looking towards the human and pokemon she knew all too well.
Anabel looked towards Caleb, who was still standing up.
"What's the connection here?" She quizzed, sensing that the three knew the Shiny Gardevoir very well.
Caleb kept his eyes on the battlefield, taking a few moments to speak up.
"That's Delta. She's Gamma's sister, and Justin's second starter."
Anabel and Aubree both looked at Caleb, not believing a word he had just said.
"What? No way, if she's Justin's pokemon, then why is she with Wallis?!" Aubree demanded, now starting to connect the puzzle that had been this entire day.
Caleb said nothing, sitting back in his seat, watching the battle continue.
Wallis laughed. "This should be good." He threw out his arm, snapping his fingers.
Delta didn't move, instead her eyes were tearing up, as she ran over to Gamma, hugging him.
Gamma hugged his sister, the fierce fire within him began to shrink, as he too began to tear up.
Wallis continued to snap his fingers, trying to continue the battle. Much to his dismay, Delta ignored him.
Justin couldn't help but smile. He ran up to his two starters, looking at Delta.
"I can't believe it's really you!" He declared, hugging Delta, who gladly returned the hug back. In an instant, Delta felt a shock strike her, before she fell to the ground.
Justin and Gamma cried out, before Delta was returned to her pokeball by Wallis.
"Stupid Gardevoir. After all this time, seeing two pathetic failures makes you weep like a child." He growled, before throwing Weavile back out. "I should have known better."
Justin stood there for a moment, trembling in anger, before rushing towards Wallis. "You'll pay for that!" He cried out, throwing his fist towards Wallis, only to be struck across the side by Weavile.
Justin was launched across the field, sliding across the ground, groaning in pain.
"Justin!" Anabel called out as she, Caleb, and Aubree rushed over to his side, helping him up.
"You alright, man?" Caleb asked, concerned for his friend.
Justin sat up, groaning slightly. "..Yea I'm alright. Hurts though."
Wallis walked over, glaring at Justin with disgust. "How dare you try to hurt me mid battle, Micheal. If you want to make me pay so badly, then win with your Gallade." His look of disgust then turned a cocky grin. "Better yet, use your Weaponize power against me. Last time, it was almost enough. Who knows, after eight years, surely it's crazy strong, right?" He taunted.
"Unless, of course, you still feel like a failure for what you did. All those pokemon you considered your family.." Wallis declared, his voice dripping with mockery.
Justin looked towards the ground, remembering the events that occurred eight years ago.
Caleb patted his friend on the back, giving him reassurance. "You got this man!"
"..Yea.." Was all Justin could mutter, as he walked back to his side of the field.
Gamma stood still, in shock of the events that just happened. His sister was right there, he had held her within his arms, and just like that, was gone.
He didn't hear Emie call for the battle to continue, nor did he sense Justin's signal, before Weavile smacked him across the face with a powerful ice type attack.
Reality came back to him in an instant, and he stood up.
Kalos Gym Leader Theme
He turned towards Justin, the two trainers nodding solemnly.
Justin snapped his fingers, intent on winning this battle. Gamma's arms and legs began to glow with the energy of Close Combat, before he rushed Weavile, intent on ending the weasel pokemon.
Wallis shook his head, before he clapped his hands. Weavile dodged to the side, before grabbing Gamma by his arm, and lobbing him back to the other side of the battlefield.
Not giving the opposing team time to breath, Weavile launched a barrage of Ice Shards at Gamma.
As Gamma stood up, he had no time to brace himself for the powerful shards of ice, as they smashed into him repeatedly.
As soon as the attack died down, Gallade fell to one knee, exhausted in only a matter of seconds.
"What's the matter over there! Don't tell me the gap between us has only grown!" Wallis called out, a grin plastered on his face. "Show me your true power! If you won't, then I'll show you mine!" With that being said, Wallis struck another pose.
Weavile grinned, before jumping high into the air, and forming a large cube of ice, intending to blast Gamma with Frozen Spike.
Justin looked up, knowing that the only way Gamma was gonna beat that attack was if they weaponized.
"Gamma!" Justin called out, with his starter pokemon facing him, looking beaten and tired.
Justin extended his arm, holding his fist out. He nodded at Gamma, who nodded back. Slowly, Gamma stood up and extended his arm towards Micheal.
At the same time, Weavile launched the Frozen Spike attack at Gamma. The attack soared through the air, with no chance to miss.
Everything around Gamma and Justin went pitch black, as a strong psychic line extended from the two brother's hands. They moved without falter, extending towards the connection that would give them the power to win the battle.
However, at the very end, the lines stopped, and began to fade away, as Gamma and Justin watched hopelessly.
Light returned to pokemon and trainer just for them to see the Frozen Spike connect with Gamma's entire body, creating a massive icy explosion that covered most of the park in ice.
Once the dust settled, everyone looked forward, seeing Gamma, who was still standing.
His body was coated with bruises, snow, and ice, as he shivered.
Before a word could even be said, Justin ran out towards Gamma, as the Psychic Fighting type began to fall to the ground. Justin caught him just in time as he collapsed, completely knocked out.
"Gallade is unable to battle, which makes Wallis the winner with a clean three-zero victory!" Emie declared.
Caleb and other others could only watch in pity as Justin sat there, holding Gallade in his arms.
The cold breeze that once gave reprieve from the hot day was now replaced with a bitter chill, filling everyone with sorrow, save Wallis and Emie.
Wallis walked up with Weavile, shaking his head at the two.
"I must say, I really expected more, Micheal. But oh well, I guess I'm just naturally stronger, like always," He declared.
Justin returned Gamma from his pokeball, glaring daggers at Wallis. "Give me back my pokemon." He demanded, referencing Delta.
Wallis shook his head once more. "Tsk tsk, I'm afraid you've got it all mixed up Micheal." He stated.
The young trainer looked at the Ruby Royal leader in confusion. "What are you talking about?" Just then, the last rule of a Ruby Royal battle came to Justin. He realized he had made a fatal mistake.
Wallis only grinned. "The rules of a Ruby Royal battle clearly state, that whoever wins gets their choice of the loser's pokemon." He explained, pointing at Justin's belt of pokeballs, pointing at the one Premier Ball Justin had.
"And I think that Mew of yours is looking quite nice!"
