Chapter 22

After the session with Halsey and there post on Instagram blew up, Beca got to work on the beats for Emily's songs. One song could be interpreted as a break up or a love song, depending on your view of things. The other was about the moment you realize your falling for somebody, which was something that hit home with Beca. Beca was actually able to relate to both songs, making this process that much better. As she was working on the beats her phone started ringing.

"Hello?" Beca picked up without checking the i.d.

"I got news for my favorite producer!" Halsey said happily.

"Oh yeah? Hit me." Beca chuckled.

"We're releasing two songs tomorrow! We have to pick with ones." Halsey happily said.

"Ghost, it's your album. It's your choice honestly." Beca said.

"But this album wouldn't be possible without you. So I want you to have a say." Halsey said.

"About this, you pick one and I'll pick one?" Beca asked.

"Deal. I really want to do Now or Never." Halsey answered.

"Great choice. I pick Bad at Love." Beca said back.

"Excellent pick. So that leaves Alone. We'll just drop that in the future." Halsey said.

"Perfect. See you tomorrow." Beca said and ended the call.

She went back to work on the beats as Stacie was in bed sleeping. Looking over at Stacie, Beca went back to her earlier thoughts. Something about the tall girl always made Beca feel secured and loved. Beca owed Stacie a lot for helping her get to this point, if it wasn't for Stacie then Beca would of probably gave up on music. Stacie was the one to pick her up when she was broken, and help her realize she was worth it. That it was Chloe's lost and she did nothing wrong to cause the breakup. Stacie made Beca's last year of college one of the best ones she had, she helped Beca put out her demos which got her noticed by DJs and producers.

Even when Stacie's modeling career took off, she always made time for Beca. She could of been off at parties and fashion shows but instead chose to be with Beca. There twice a week best friend dates that Stacie always made sure happened that sometimes felt like actual dates, hell they were even more enjoyable then the dates with Chloe. Beca who was still staring at Stacie sleeping was smiling at how peaceful she looked.

All the protectiveness they have for each other and all the love they have. Maybe I like her as more then friends? Beca thought.

Shaking her head and deciding that she should probably talk to someone about this, she went back to working on the beats. She finished about an hour later and saved everything. Changing into a pair of white sweat shorts and a red sports bra, she hoped in bed next to Stacie. Stacie instantly rolled over and pulled Beca towards her as if she was waiting for her. Beca smiled and wrapped an arm over Stacie's waist and nuzzling her head in the crook of Stacie's neck.

The two woke up the next morning in the same exact position. Stacie woke up first and smiled at the smaller girl in her arms. Ever since that conversation with Aubrey, Stacie couldn't help but think about Beca. Stacie really did want to let Beca figure things out on her own. She didn't want to complicate anything and distract her from her music. But at the same time she just wanted Beca to be hers.

At that moment Beca started to stir "Stop it you creep." Beca mumbled and pressed her face against Stacie's neck more.

"I'm no creep." Stacie said in a fake hurt voice.

"Oh no? What do you call staring at someone while they sleep?" Beca said pulling back and starting a Stacie.

"Well you're not someone. Your my best friend, so you could call it admiring." Stacie beamed.

"Fine weirdo. Still creepy, especially since your smiling so bright at-" Beca looked at the clock "9:45 in the morning." Beca chuckled before stretching.

"Well darkness, someone has to smile." Stacie laughed as she got out of bed.

"Alright sunshine let's eat before I got to work with sunshine jr." Beca said as she changed into a yellow cropped sweater and some black joggers and a pair white converse.

"It's amazing how your taste in clothing as changed since you got into the industry." Stacie chuckled.

"What do you mean?" Beca asked as she picked up a black dad hat and her usual silver aviators.

"I mean back in college you had the whole alt-girl emo-ish look. Now you have variety. You have the athletic looks, street looks, casual and then professional." Stacie said grabbing her bag "You've expanding your wardrobe based on the people you work with."

"Well like I've said multiple times, I'm not the same person I was in college." Beca said as they headed towards the elevator. "Besides wearing jeans and combat boots everyday got real uncomfortable."

The two met up with Emily after they ate and headed towards the same studio they used with Halsey. Once they had everything set up Beca pulled up the two beats.

"Alright Em, the first one I'm going to show you is for Let Me Go." Beca said as she clicked play.

Emily's face lit up when she heard the beat and instantly knew this was going to be amazing. "That's amazing Becs!" Emily exclaimed.

"Thank you. Next is going to be for Starving." Beca proceeded to press play and leaned back in her chair.

Once again Emily feel in love with the beat and was amazed at how quick Beca was able to put this together. "Wow Becs, you know I'm always shocked at how quick you can create beats." Emily chuckled.

"It's what I love to do." Beca shrugged then turned to Stacie and raised her brows.

"You already know I love it B." Stacie smiled.

Beca smiled and turned towards Emily "Alright klutz, get your butt in the both." Beca said as she started playing with the soundboards.

"Stace come here." Beca called Stacie over and the taller girl quickly stepped next to her "Alright so while Em and I are in there you need control the boards." Stacie nodded "All you have to do is hit record and follow the screen." She pointed to the laptop "It'll tell you when to raise and lower the volume, just pay attention to the level."

Stacie nodded "Yes captain." And did a mock salute.

Once Beca gave her the go ahead Stacie hit record. Beca and Emily started to sing and their voices meshed perfectly for this track. Being in the same acapella group was really helping them balance out each others tune and be in sync. Beca had more of a deeper and low voice sounding a bit raspy in the song. While Emily brought the high and loud voice setting the tone for the overall feel of the song. Once they finished and played it back, all three girls couldn't help but smile and nod along with the song.

"Wow you two sound amazing together. Talk about a summer hit." Stacie said.

"Yeah who would have thought acapella would pay off." Beca laughed.

"This is exactly what I had envisioned." Emily gushed.

"Head back in there for Starving." Beca said.

Once Emily had finished and they reviewed it, Beca deemed it ready to go.

"Who's got you feeling this way Em?" Beca raised a brow.

"There was a guy I was talking to but we were both so focused on getting our careers started that we realized we need to let each other go." Emily answered before sighing "You know the old if you love something let it go saying, that was what inspired Let Me Go. Starving was when I realized that I had actually fallen for him."

Beca patted her on the shoulder "I get that Em. There beautiful songs, written by an even more beautiful girl." Beca smiled.

Emily hugged Beca tightly "Thank you Becs. For always being someone I can call big sister. Thank you for giving me this chance." Emily said on the verge of tears.

Beca hugged her back "Your welcome Em. Thank you for being the little sister I never had. And as far as this goes? Like I told you before, you earned this. Your madly talented and deserve to show the world your art." Beca smiled and pull away.

"Love you grumpy." Emily smiled.

"Love you too klutz." Beca chuckled.

"You two are adorable. If only badass Beca Mitchell could see this." Stacie shook her head.

"Hey! I'm still badass." Beca glared at Stacie.

"Shorty, your a cupcake." Stacie laughed and patted Beca's head.

"I'm a badass." Beca pouted and crossed her arms.

"Badasses don't pout." Stacie raised an eyebrow.

Beca stomped her foot "I was so not pouting Conrad." Beca narrowed her eyes.

"Sure you weren't cupcake." Stacie smiled "Now you know the studio drill." Stacie said as she grabbed her phone.

"I'm a badass." Beca mumbled and turned towards the desk next to the soundboards.

"Ohhh picture time!" Emily clapped and smiled.

Emily stood next to Beca who was sitting on top of the desk. Emily warped her arm around Beca's waist and Beca rested her arm atop Emily's shoulder. Beca did her traditional smirk while Emily was smiling from ear to ear.

Beca proceeded to post it to her Instagram simply saying "Coming soon." Emily posted the same picture captioning it "Can't wait."

The three hoped into the car and went back to the hotel. Once arriving there Emily headed to her room to shower while Stacie turned to Beca.

"So what now B?" Stacie asked.

As Beca was going to answer Halsey and CR came up to them "Yo Beca." CR said.

"What's up CR?"

"Change of plans for the performance." CR said and nodded towards Halsey.

Beca turned her attention to Halsey "So turns out we're performing together tomorrow!" Halsey smiled.

"Dude seriously?" Beca smiled.

"Yup! And I was thinking of debuting Now or Never and Bad at Love during our performance." Halsey said.

"Hell yeah. That sounds awesome." Beca responded.

"Great. So tomorrow morning at sound check you to could go over how exactly y'all want the set up to be." CR said as she walked away and called up someone.

"This is going to be epic to watch." Stacie said.

"It's going to be crazy to actually preform with you." Beca said turning towards Halsey.

"Like wise." Halsey smiled.

The three went to their rooms and decided to freshen up before they all went out to dinner together.

"Tomorrow just got a whole lot crazier." Beca thought to herself.
