Chapter 27
Beca and Halsey had spent the whole day Sunday together talking music, label stuff and mainly about the Stacie and Chloe situation. Stacie was busy with her masters and some potential modeling gigs that she was considering. Aubrey along with Jesse were currently going over the remodeling numbers and time frame. While the rest of the team was dealing with the response over Beca's new singles. Meanwhile Chloe was packing for her flight from California to NY and was feeling nervous due to the last time they were all together. Chloe still wasn't over her feelings for Beca despite Aubrey telling her about Beca and Stacie. In fact, seeing Beca and Stacie that way was making her incredibly jealous and a bit annoyed.
So here we are Monday morning with Aubrey getting ready to head out to the airport to pickup Chloe and bring her to her and Jesse's house. Beca was busy today with Jesse going over what she wanted the studio to look like and what she wanted it to have. Aubrey had a whole best friend day planned out and was hoping this trip would go smoothly. She arrived at the airport thirty minutes later and headed inside to wait for her best friend. Forty-five minutes later she spotted Chloe and the two embraced each other in a tight hug and headed towards the car.
"Excited?" Aubrey asked.
"Honestly I'm nervous." Chloe answered back.
"Look I talked to Beca and she said that she'll they to get along as long as you don't try anything." Aubrey said the last part sternly. She really didn't want Chloe going all jealous and doing something stupid.
"I'll try Bree. You know I'm still not over her and seeing them together is hard." Chloe sighed.
"Chloe I really don't want any drama this time ok? So please just think before you do anything." Aubrey said.
The rest of the drive to Aubrey and Jesse's was spent with the two talking about what to do and what locations to visit. After about thirty-five minutes they arrived at the house and Aubrey showed Chloe the guest room.
"Where's Jesse?" Chloe asked as she put her bags on the bed.
"With Beca going over some stuff about her label." Aubrey answered helping Chloe unpack.
"She got a late?" Chloe asked.
"Oh um yeah she just bought a building and their going over the remodeling." Aubrey replied.
"That's great for her, does she have anyone signed yet?" Chloe asked.
"So far two people. Halsey and Emily." Aubrey said.
"That's huge. I'm proud of her, she's really living her dream." Chloe smiled sadly.
"Yeah so between that and Halsey being here, she's going to be extremely busy." Aubrey commented.
"Oh what about Stacie?" Chloe asked curiously.
"Well she just passed everything she needed for her masters, so she's in the middle of the whole receiving and graduating process. Not to mention some modeling stuff she has to go over." Aubrey answered.
Chloe nodded and continued to unpack. Of course Stacie finished her master's early on top of being this world popular model Chloe thought. "Good for her." Chloe said.
Meanwhile Beca was in her office with Jesse. "Jess all this looks great. Just make sure each recording room is completely sound proof, I don't want one room disturbing another." They had agreed on having four different recording booths, two rooms that'll be used to record different instruments, a nice sized reception area and two break rooms. The interior would be painted in darker colors to go with the nightmare name and theme. Beca wanted this studio be unique but really accessible with the all the newest equipment and gear.
"Alright Becs, so you're looking at about two weeks' time with the remodeling. I got them to get it done quicker for some tickets to your next show." Jesse chuckled.
"That's perfectly fine Jess. Thanks." Beca laughed.
"So you and Halsey got everything?" Jesse asked.
"Yup were all good. She's officially signed to Nightmare Records along with Emily." Beca smiled.
"Any news when Emily is going to release her stuff?" Jesse asked.
"I wanted to do it soon. I think she does too, we just have to get her over here." Beca answered.
"Well Aubrey is probably with Chloe by now so I'll leave you to it. I need to go and at least make sure everything going good." Jesse announced as he started making his exit.
"Alright Jess. Good luck with that." Beca joked.
"You're not going to be able to avoid this forever you know." Jesse laughed.
"I know but I can delay it." Beca shrugged as she gathered up her things "I told Aubrey I'd let her know when I'm completely free."
The two headed out with Beca telling Halsey to meet up with her back at her house.
"What's up?" Halsey asked as she sat down next to Beca.
"Check out these songs I got." Beca said handing her the pages.
Halsey scanned them over "Wow Beca, they're amazing. Is this about Stacie?"
"Yeah, except for the last one. The last one was about Chloe." Beca answered.
"Well what are you going to do with them?" Halsey asked.
"I don't know yet. I just wrote what I was feeling. I don't know if I should release them or just play them for her." Beca said.
"Well regardless, she'll end up hearing them. Might as well just put together an album and get everything out there. Plus, people could use this for when they're in a similar situation." Halsey said.
"You people just want me to put together an album huh?" Beca joked.
"Well it'd be good for you and now for the label. Our albums could boost the label." Halsey shrugged.
"Yeah I guess you're right." Beca agreed.
A few hours later Halsey was showing Beca some of her baking skills when her phone rang.
"Hey Bree." Beca answered.
"Hey Bec. Free tomorrow?" Aubrey asked.
"Wow that was quick." Beca joked.
"Come on Bec think about it this way, get it out the way quicker." Aubrey said.
Beca took a deep breath and sighed "Fine Bree. Just tell me when and where. Might as well get this out the way." Beca said.
"How does 12pm sound? we can go to the pizza spot we always go to?" Aubrey asked.
"Yeah that's fine Bree. I'll be there." Beca agreed.
"Thank you so much Bec." Aubrey said happily.
"Your lucky you grew on me Posen." Beca joked.
"Yeah yeah Mitchell, love you too." Aubrey said.
"Night Bree." Beca said as she hung up.
"Everything good?" Halsey asked stirring some batter.
"Yup. Meeting up with Aubrey and Chloe tomorrow so you know." Beca shrugged as she attempted to try some batter.
Halsey quickly swatted he hand "Claws off." Halsey said pointing the spoon at Beca.
Beca and Halsey opted to watch some crappy TV while devouring the brownies and cookies that Halsey had made till they both went to bed.
Beca woke up the next morning and got in the shower and decided to go with light makeup before drying her hair. She headed towards her closet went with an outfit similar to when she recorded with Halsey. She was wearing a black sleeveless Colorado Rockies jersey with only a black bra underneath with a pair of grey ripped denim shorts and a pair of purple, white and black Jordan 1s. Once she checked herself in the mirror she decided to put on a white dad hat just in case since she was going out to public and didn't feel like getting spotted. She grabbed her typical silver mirrored aviators and her car keys of her favorite car, her matte black Dodge Challenger Hellcat. Shooting a text to Aubrey saying she was on her way to the pizza shop, she started the car and took off.
Aubrey and Chloe were already parked waiting for Beca to arrive when Aubrey got the text.
"Alright she just left, so she should be here in about 10." Aubrey said replying back "Okay drive safe."
Chloe was trying to keep cool but was having a hard time, she was nervous for multiple reasons. One being the last time she saw Beca, Beca slapped her hard. She also made that comment about Stacie. And of course their history, mainly Chloe not staying in contact and destroying their relationship. And of course her feelings for Beca, the feelings that seem to never go away no matter what she does.
"Relax Chlo. As long as you stay cool, this will be fine." Aubrey reassured.
Truth is Chloe didn't know what she was going to do, if she would be able to control her emotions or let them overcome her self control.
Beca meanwhile was just hoping nobody tried anything stupid. She really didn't want to cause a scene in public due to the possibility of something getting leaked to the media. Also she just hoped no one would spot her and tip off the paparazzi. She arrived and parked a couple spaces away from Aubrey's white Lexus RC F. Aubrey got out when she heard Beca's car, Aubrey knew that sound anywhere. Aubrey walked over to Beca's car and gave her a small side hug.
"Nice of you to welcome us with your presence." Aubrey smirked.
"Well in the famous words of Kanye "My presence is a present"." Beca joked.
Aubrey rolled her eyes "Alright Kanye come on."
The two approached Chloe "Hey Beca, nice car." Chloe said with a smile.
Beca gave a small head nod "Hey Chloe and thanks."
Chloe took in Beca's outfit and was trying not to stare too much. God she looks just as beautiful as ever, Chloe thought. The fact that Beca's bra was on full display was making things difficult for Chloe.
"So are we going to eat or just have an old west stare down?" Beca asked.
"Let's go in." Aubrey said as she motioned towards the door.
The trio walked in and went to the counter to order. Beca went with three slices of extra cheese, Aubrey with two Hawaiian and Chloe went with two of the meat lovers. Once they got the food and drinks they headed to a table in the back corner next to the windows. The first couple of minutes were awkward till Aubrey gave Chloe a look.
"Hey Beca?" Chloe asked slowly.
Beca looked up and nodded her head so Chloe continued "I know you hate me at the moment but I just want to apologize about everything that happened in San Fran. I know me showing up wasn't what you wanted but I missed seeing everyone and really did want to show my support. And also for that Stacie comment." Chloe said.
Beca just nodded "Listen Chloe, that whole San Fran incident honestly just got out of control. Seeing you just brought out all the anger and rage I held in for two years and then the Stacie comment was the breaking point. I know you want to be friends or some shit but I don't know about that." Beca said.
Chloe nodded "I get it." Chloe said and took a sip of her drink.
Aubrey had gotten a call at that moment and excused herself to handle it. That left Chloe alone with Beca who had just finished her last slice. Chloe who was sitting next to Beca couldn't take her eye off the small brunette decided to scoot a bit closer.
"So Beca tell me about the label?" Chloe asked smiling.
Beca who looked surprised that she knew "Umm yeah I just got everything finalized." Beca answered.
"So you really have Halsey and Emily?" Chloe asked.
"Yeah, figured I sign two talented females that I knew first." Beca responded.
Chloe meanwhile had discreetly gotten closer to Beca "I'm happy that you're living out your dream." Chloe smiled.
The two were unaware that someone had actually spotted Beca when she had taken off her sunglasses and posted something to social media. This caused the paps to immediately head to the location to get some pictures of Beca.
"Thanks Chloe." Beca said just now noticing how close they were.
Beca was about to say something when Aubrey came back "Sorry about that." Aubrey said placing her phone back in her bag. Chloe quickly scooted back to her original spot.
The three were there for another five minutes till Aubrey finished her last slice and her drink. Once she finished up they all headed back to there cars.
"Thanks for agreeing to this Bec." Aubrey smiled.
"Yeah no problem Bree. I know you wanted this." Beca shrugged.
"Nothing happened while I was gone right?" Aubrey whispered.
"She got really close to me but other than that not really." Beca answered.
"Ok that's good to hear." Aubrey said relieved.
Beca nodded "Well I'm going to meet up with everyone at the office." Beca said heading to her car.
Unbeknown to the trio that the paparazzi had snapped some pics of the meet up and were about to upload them everywhere. Stacie who was looking forward to spending time with Beca after not being able to the last two days, logged into twitter when she saw the pictured on her timeline. The picture showed Beca sitting down with Chloe leaning close to her face and smiling, of course from the angle of the picture it looked like Chloe leaning in for a kiss. To make matters worse the caption read "Beca Mitchell spotted enjoying her pizza date with a new partner." Stacie couldn't believe what she was looking at, she had a million thoughts running through her mind. Why was Beca with Chloe? Why was Chloe smiling and that close? Why didn't Beca tell me? Did she not feel the same about me? After everything that's happened did she still have feelings for Chloe?
Stacie was feeling betrayed and hurt, she really thought Beca was over Chloe and ready to move on. She quickly exited twitter and fell on her bed and let some tears spill. At that moment her phone alerted her she had a text, she reached over and saw it was from Beca.
Smurfette: Want to come over? I missed you these last couple of days! plus Halsey wants to see you.
Stacie just ignored it and put her phone down and went back to staring at the celling letting her thoughts run wild. Five minutes later she got another text from Beca.
Smurfette: I'm at the office right now, just LMK.
Stacie once again ignored the text and didn't bother to move from her bed. She just continued to ignore all of Beca's calls and texts.
Beca meanwhile was sitting in her office going over some stuff for the label and the new building. Her attempts to contact Stacie kept going unanswered and she was getting worried because Stacie never ignored her or never got back. But this time it was obvious that Stacie was distant and after not seeing her for two whole days Beca was confused. Beca wasn't sure if she had done something to cause this or if Stacie was just busy and didn't have the time. Beca was about to finish up when CR came bursting through the door along with Jesse.
"What the hell is this!?" CR exclaimed throwing her phone on the table.
Beca who was startled by the thud the door made when it was thrown open then the phone slamming against her desk looked up at CR and Jesse "Geez guys ever heard of calmly entering?"
"Explain." CR said sternly pointing to her phone.
Beca grabbed the phone and her eyes went wide, she was currently reading the same article that Stacie had seen.
"Oh shit." Beca said.
I'll probably do a double upload later today since it's 1am where I'm at. I'll upload the next chapter of this story and probably the first chapter of my new story. If not today then tomorrow.
