Chapter 11

Sophie and the others arrived in Boston and immediately went to Nate's old apartment which Hardison had determined had been bought by Nate through a trust which was set up by him at some stage, the bar was also owned by the Mastermind. They walked in to find the place completely deserted, almost as they had left it.

"Well we can't stay here." Sophie said looking around the empty room. There were so many memories here, both good and bad she thought, no wonder Nate had kept it. He had not told her he had bought the place, or the pub but Nate did not tell her everything.

"No we can't." Eliot agreed. Nate might have bought this place, but he had not kept it up, not for a place to come too and he wondered briefly why Nate had taken the trouble to buy it in the first place.

"No problem I'll get us some rooms." Hardison said working quickly on his phone as Sophie climbed up the stairs to the rooms above where he used to live.

Sophie moved to the bedroom and opened the door and it too was empty. She stared in at the place and thought about all the nights she and Nate had been together here. This is where their relationship had blossomed into something more. This is where he had opened to her in so many ways, where he had let her into his life completely. She sighed and then made her way back down the stairs to her waiting family.

"Ready to go?"

"Yes." Sophie smiled at the Hitter and walked out the door. Eliot was the last out turning and locking the door behind them.

They arrived at the hotel that Hardison had arranged for them and quickly got settled. It was late in the day and they were all quite exhausted. They had agreed that they would take the rest of the day to get some rest and then meet again in the morning for breakfast and to go through what they knew or did not know and what they were going to do next.

Sophie closed the door behind her and leaned against it. She was close to emotional exhaustion, she was worried about Nate, she was worried about Moreau and she was scared this whole affair was going to end badly for all of them.

"Damn you Nate." She said as she collapsed onto the bed. "Damn you for doing this." She whispered tears welling in her eyes.

What the hell was the man thinking? He was still recovering from a near fatal gunshot wound he was still physically weak, he was emotional, and he was drinking, and she had no idea where he was or how they were going to find him before Moreau did. She curled up into herself and pulled the pillow closer. She knew Nate was determined to kill Moreau she had seen it in his eyes. It was not like before this was not something they were going to be able to stop him from doing. Moreau had made a fatal error by killing that little girl, he had unleashed something in Nate, something that not she or the rest of the team were going to be able to stop. She only hoped that they would be able to prevent him from being killed in the process.

Eliot said good night to Parker and Hardison and then entered his own room. He dropped his bags and then dropped onto the bed. He was tired but he knew sleep would not come for him. He was worried about Nate and what was going to happen in the next few days. He knew Moreau and he knew Nate and with the two of them determined to kill each other he was not sure either one was going to walk away from this debacle. One thing he did know, not him nor Sophie nor any of them were going to stop Nate from doing what he wanted to do. He thought back to the conversation they had had, where Nate had asked him to kill Moreau if he failed and again it brought a shiver to him. He was not sure any of them were going to walk away from this the way they were, and he was afraid for all of them.

"He is really going to kill him isn't he?" Hardison asked as he and Parker walked into their room.

"Yes." Parker said taking the man's hand and leading him to the bed. "Yes I think he is."

"He can't Parker."

"We can't stop him." She said as they sat down. "We can only be there for him."

"It will change him." Hardison said softly. "It will change everything."

"I know." Parker said pouting slightly. "He is still hurt, and he is out there alone Hardison."

"Yeah." Hardison said knowing that Parker was more worried about Nate surviving this rather than if he was going to kill Moreau and how that will change him. "Well I am going to go over a few things before we go to bed."

"Find him." Parker said squeezing his hand tightly. "Please find him." She said pulling him in for a kiss.

"I will." Hardison said into the kiss. "I will so help me."

"Ok well I am going to go have a shower you do what you need to do and then we need some sleep." Parker told him as he pulled him close again.

"Ok girl." Hardison smiled at her and pulled out his computer getting to work as she disappeared into the bathroom.

Sterling walked into his room and dropped his bags before going to the mini bar and taking out a small bottle of whiskey. He thought about Nate and what he would be doing, hopefully he had found a safe place and was getting some rest. He was sure Nate was here and he was just as sure that Moreau was here in this town too. He sat down leaning back against the wall closing his eyes trying to put himself in Nate's shoes, to think like him. Where would he go? He did not think Nate would go to a hotel he would know Hardison would find him even under a false name. This was Nate's home, where he had grown up he would know where to go and remain anonymous. James Sterling was afraid for his friend. This whole thing could bring the man down again, back to where he had been. Nate had fought hard to get to where he was now and these people he was here with, Eliot, Parker, Hardison and Sophie were his family a family he may not have approved of in the beginning but one that had saved Nate, brought him back into the land of the living as it were. Nate was in danger of losing all of that, he was in danger of losing everything again and more than that he was in danger of losing his life too. Well Sterling thought to himself, all he could do was try to prevent that from happening, he was not sure how he was going to do that, but he would damn well try.
