Chapter 1: Daywalker
Taking place in an underground lair that's pretty much invisible to human eyes, sitting on a throne is a man in noble's shirt that is white and dark blue with a cravat, a long black leather coat with gloves, pants and boots that match it. He has stylishly messy blue-violent hair, blue eyes that look rather demonic, and semi-pale skin.
The man smiles a bit and says in a British accent, "So... The prodigal child has reawakened. About time, too. Well, up at'em."
A little later, the same man and some other men as well as some women, each dressed pretty fancy, are sitting at a table, with the man from before at the head.
"So, it seems that, after 500 years, the one that's been a thorn in our side has reawakened." says the same man.
"The Daywalker, correct?" asks another man, this one having gelled back brown hair while wearing a dark blue and red nobleman's outfit.
"Indeed." says the man from before. "She's been hidden from our presence for many years, and protected from all harm. However, it goes without saying, after so many years, her powers have considerably waned."
"Then I say we kill her now, and be done with this." says a woman, this one having dark green hair while wearing a white and purple dress belonging to a high class lady.
"Unfortunately, there are many factors to consider." says the man. "For one, obviously, she is still the only one of our kind able to walk in daylight, so that clearly complicates some matters, and while we want her dead, we still need aspects about her if we're to overcome our annoyances. Deadly annoyances, but still annoyances. Plus, there are others we know of that are still our enemies, and you all know they have yet to go away. One in particular is a far bigger roadblock."
"Yes. Her." says another man, this one having a natural boycut of black while wearing a silver and red noble's outfit.
"Correct." says the man. "So if we're going to bring about the Daywalker's demise, we need to be smart about it."
"What do you suggest, Lord Alec?" asks an elderly-looking man with salt & pepper hair while wearing a black and red noble's outfit.
"From the intelligence I had gathered, on April 8th, much of the continent of Magvel will be holding a celebration due to recent events 2 years ago." says the man answering to name of Alec. "Apparently, the Demon King was resurrected, and tried to once again bring the land to destruction. You know how that all goes. But it seems a new group of heroes fought back against him, and completely eradicated him when compared to Grado and his band of heroes so long ago."
"That's about a little over two months." says a woman with silver hair in an elegant ponytail while wearing a dress of black and pink. "You're asking us to wait a while"
"Like we haven't waited long enough already?" asks the same man with black hair. "Besides, if you think about it, the humans will be too busy with the festivities, and we can use that as a cover to kill the Daywalker and capture her essence. And we all know such festivities are a night time activity, so the opportunity couldn't be any more perfect."
"Still, she could use that time to power herself back up if she decides to drink any blood or devour souls." says a man with teal hair while wearing a purple and gold noble's outfit. "And that's time we don't need to waste."
"Well, we don't want our prey being TOO easy." says the same man with brown hair. "After all, where is the challenge if we don't have fun with the kill? With so few out there being able to handle our strengths, you can already tell this will be like shooting fish in a barrel, with the Daywalker as the main catch. And it's been more than 500 years since the people of this world have fought vampires, so I doubt they could handle our strength and magical abilities in such a way. It only makes perfect sense."
"Agreed." says Alec. "So it's settled: we take our chance in over two months, and get our payback against the Daywalker on April 8th. All in favor, say 'Aye', all opposed, say 'Nay'."
The rest of the group goes "Aye!"
"Good. Now, I think it's high time we prepare, and this time, this insult on our reputation is going to be expunged" says Alec. "One way or another."
- A Small Comfort -
Later on, the girl that awoke starts to make her way out of the cave while wearing a brown robe to cover much of her body. Thankfully, she's managed to get the excess blood off of her chin, and as she gets outside, her eyes wince a bit when it comes to the sun rays hitting her, but she manages to adjust, looking at all the nature around her, and the brilliant blue sky over her. She smiles a bit, but goes back to looking solemn as she continues to move onward.
After a while, as the sun is starting to go down, the girl comes up to a small house near a village, and outside is a young woman with blonde hair that is tending to some laundry. The girl notices this, but tries to move on ahead without being noticed.
However, the young woman catches wind of the girl, and says, "Hello there. Are you okay, young lady?"
"Huh?" asks the girl.
"Oh dear." says the young woman.
She goes over to the girl, and says, "This robe... Are you... Don't tell me you're not wearing any clothing. Oh gracious, what happened to you? Please tell me it wasn't bandits."
"Uh... No... I... Uh... I don't remember much." says the girl. "I don't remember... Where I come from. Or what I am."
"Do you even remember your name?" asks the woman.
"I, uh... I think... Ester." says the girl. "That's right. My name is Ester."
"Come on inside, Ester." says the woman. "Let me get you cleaned up and dressed; I think you really need it."
"Well, what is your name, milady?" asks Ester.
"Oh, my name is Melina." says the woman. "Don't worry, you're safe now. Now come on inside."
Later on, Ester is in a small bathtub, the bath water obscuring her quite large breasts while Melina works on her hair.
"You desperately needed a bath." says Melina. "How long have you gone without one?"
"I... Don't know." says Ester.
"Ah, right, you currently have amnesia." says Melina. "Don't worry, I was once in the same boat."
"Really?" asks Ester.
"Yes. I was once captured by bandits, and was kept in their custody for so long." says Melina. "All the violations I suffered. Don't be offended when I say I don't wish discuss them. And for a while, I couldn't remember much, even after Grado's own General Duessel rescued me."
"I'm so sorry, Melina." says Ester.
"Afterwards, Duessel set me up in this far away home to give me better protection so I would be obscure from any more bandits." says Melina. "Suffice it to say, I'm not fully recovered, but I'm leagues better than I ever was before. Still, so many years under those ruffians, how could one fully recover from such trauma so quickly?"
"I have no answer." says Ester. "Still... You said 'Grado'. That name is familiar."
"Well, Grado IS the land you're currently in." says Melina. "But again, amnesia."
"No, the name is familiar in a different way, but... I don't know why." says Ester.
"Huh, you couldn't be friends with the ancient hero of the same name, could you?" asks Melina. "No, you couldn't; Grado has long since been dead after he defeated the Demon King."
"Demon King?" asks Ester.
Suddenly, images flash before her, and she grabs her head in pain.
"Ester! What's the matter?" asks Melina.
"I don't know. Maybe some memories breaking through." says Ester. "Can we... Change the subject now? I don't want to talk about Grado or this Demon King."
"Fair enough. I think a nice change of topic is in order." says Melina. "Say, you seem to be about my daughter's current height, so I think I might be able to find some clothes that'll fit you. Of course, your chest and backside are a bit bigger, so I might need to give you some of my underwear."
Ester blushes a bit and says, "Th-Thank you."
"Don't mention it." says Melina.
Later on, Ester is in a bedroom wearing some blue, bikini-style panties while she puts on a matching strapless bra as she looks herself in the mirror to make sure she's fastening the hooks correctly.
As she gets it all on, she feels comfortable, making her smile warmly.
Melina comes in and says, "Ah, a perfect fit for you! Here's some of Amelia's clothes when she was still living with me back in our old village."
Melina hands to Ester what look to be a country-style tunic that is white, pink and turquoise, a pink flared miniskirt, short socks and some white laced boots.
Ester takes the clothes and begins to put them on. After getting the fully dressed she poses subtly for Melina and asks, "So, how do I look?"
"Oh, very adorable, Ester." says Melina. "It suits you perfectly. Like it was meant for you."
"I guess it was." says Ester.
"You really are a lovely girl." says Melina. "I know there are women out there that would kill to have your looks."
"They wouldn't seriously do that, would they?" asks Ester.
"Just a figure of speech. But... I've heard there are some that have tried before." says Melina. "Ah, forget I said anything. Say, I want to fix your hair up some, if that's okay. A pretty girl like you should have some style."
"Well, if you do that for me, I think I have a small idea of how I want it." says Ester.
"Oh, well... Do share." says Melina.
After a quick time lapse, Ester is using a hand mirror to look at the back of head in the dresser mirror to see the back of her hair has a braid going around it from one side of her head to the other, and her hair looks fit for a princess, being shoulder length, with a couple of locks draping over her shoulders.
"It's perfect." says Ester. "I don't know why, but... I really want it this way."
"Looks like you were made for it. Makes you look even more gorgeous." says Melina. "Anyway, now that's done, I think it high time I get you something to eat."
"Well, I am hungry." says Ester.
"Then let's do that, and then later, I'll get your bed ready for tonight." says Melina. "Now come, it's time to get dinner ready."
- Newfound Peace Shattered -
Later that night, Ester is in bed, her boots off and sleeping soundly, but starts to shift a bit in her sleep.
Soon, in her dream, a voice from a bright light calls out to her saying, "Ester. You have finally awakened. It seems the world has awoke you from your long slumber. But does that mean it is truly ready for you? I guess that depends on how it handles things. Will this be a new era of prosperity? Or will it usher in a wave of calamity? It seems I must return to see what I can do for this world. Do not worry, my dear Ester. Soon, you and I will be reunited, and we'll see what lies ahead for our destinies."
Ester suddenly wakes up with her eyes shooting open wide, and she sits up, rubbing her head, asking, "What was that voice? It seemed like it knew me. I hope I'm not suddenly going crazy."
Suddenly, Ester hears some commotion, with a man's gruff voice saying, "Alright, you no good wench! You escaped us once, and we don't take kindly to that kind of infidelity! You're coming back with us!"
"No, please!" says Melina's voice. "Why can't you bandits just leave us people alone!?"
"That old Gradoan dog got the best of our men last time, and we'll be damned if we're going to let the whole of Magvel think we've become so weak." says the same male voice.
"If you think I'm going back, you're more foolish than you think!" says Melina's voice.
Hearing this, Ester wastes no time getting her boots back on, then rushes outside to see Melina being confronted by some bandits, each with various weapons.
"Melina! What's going on here?" asks Ester.
"Ester! Go back inside! I won't have your blood be spilled for my sake!" says Melina.
"Oh, what have we here?" asks the bandit. "You been keeping this otherworldly beauty with you? You're a naughtier woman than I thought."
"No! Leave this girl alone! Just leave us both alone, please!" says Melina.
"Wow, I think I'm seeing a goddess in human form! Probably the best catch yet! We really scored here, men!" says the head bandit.
"No, you can't do this to us!" says Melina.
Ester pushes Melina to the side as she goes up to the bandits.
"Ester! What are you-Are you mad!?" asks Melina.
"Listen, all of you! Leave us alone before you get hurt badly." says Ester with extreme sternness.
The bandits laugh jovially, and one mocks Ester saying, "Oh, the little thing says she's going to hurt us!"
"Yeah, that's a good one! You must be a regular court jester if you think a tiny thing like you is going to be injuring the lot of us!" says the lead bandit.
"Look out, boys! The little village girl is going to make us sorry!" another bandit mocks.
"Ester, you can't mean to take them all on your own." says Melina. "They'll hurt you, and do even-" Ester says, "Don't worry, Lady Melina. I'll make sure they don't harm either of us. Trust me." As Ester says that last part, she looks at Melina, and her irises have once again turned that glowing, bright, brilliant red.
"E-Ester?" asks Melina.
Ester looks at the bandits again with those same eyes and says, "Now, leave us alone, or there is going to be trouble the likes of which you have never experienced. Believe me, I can deliver in spades."
As Ester says that, the wind picks up around her, and she becomes deathly focused like a wolf ready to strike at any moment.
"What the hell are you?" asks the lead bandit. "You supposed to be some kind of mage, or other mystical mumbo jumbo?"
Without warning, Ester dashes forward at high speed, and kicks the lead bandit in the chest super hard, causing him to gag violently with the air being forced out of him with the force of a battering ram going at 40 miles per second, and he gets sent flying onto his back, crying out in pain as he clutches his chest after landing, shouting, "SHE BROKE MY RIB CAGE! ARRGGGH, IT HURTS! IT HURTS!"
"No way!" says another bandit. "She's only a little girl! How is she that strong!?"
"Never mind that! Get her!" says another bandit.
Ester wastes no time and dashes in again, kicking and smashing bandits left and right, sending them flying in truly damaged states. One bandit tries to hit her with his axe, but she grabs the blade and breaks it off with little trouble before using it to slash the bandit dead.
Melina watches in horror as Ester mutilates the bandits horribly until there is just one left.
"Rrrgh, what kind of freak of nature are you!?" asks the remaining bandit, truly fearing for his life.
"You brought this on yourself." says Ester. "You have no one else to blame."
"You're a monster!" says the bandit. "One of the servants of the Demon King probably!"
"Compared to you all who tried to harass an innocent woman, and me just defending her? Who's the real monster in this?" asks Ester.
"Don't justify your actions, you freak!" says the bandit as he goes in for an attack.
Ester effortlessly knocks the sword out of his hands, followed by grabbing him by the collar, and soon, she looks at his neck hungrily as she bears her fangs, and wastes no more time in biting down, the bandit's blood flowing down her throat as if she's found the best tasting wine in the world.
"Impossible! She's a vampire? And in broad daylight? H-How... How..." thinks the bandit before the life leaves his eyes and body.
Ester tosses the lifeless corpse away, and stands there looking satisfied before her eyes return to purple, and she comes to her senses, realizing she just drank blood again, the truth horrifying her, and she looks back at Melina, who looks even more scared by Ester than she did the bandits, especially in noticing the blood on Ester's chin and even her fangs.
Becoming increasingly worried about what Melina will think of her now, Ester runs away.
"Ester! Wait!" says Melina. "Oh dear, she's... I didn't think vampires were real. What has today turned into?"
- Returning Powers -
After feeling like she's gotten far away enough, Ester remains in the forest to avert human eyes while she sits by a tree to catch her breath for a bit before she goes back to crying.
"Why? Why me?" asks Ester as she cries. "Why am I like this? Am I cursed or something?"
As Ester cries in the fetal position, she hears a deep, demonic, male voice call out to her saying, "Ester. Do not grieve. It had to be done."
"Huh? Who is that?" asks Ester. "I hope I'm not going crazy."
"It is us, your powers." says a kinder, female voice.
Soon, appearing over Ester's shoulders are two round objects-over her right is a red, fleshy orb with demonic eye in the center while covered in differently designed eyes, and over her left, and a blue holy-looking orb covered in glowing, different colored glyphs.
"Who... What are you two?" asks Ester.
"It has been a long time, Ester. We are the manifestations of your powers as the Daywalker, the most powerful vampire in this world." says the blue orb. "I am Aiya, the warrior angel. I am currently taking the form of the Sphere of Order."
"And I am Sergus, the demon knight, taking the form of the Eye of Chaos." says the red eye.
"I see. Let me ask you: do you both know how or why I was given these powers?" asks Ester.
"Sadly, we only remember as much as you." says Sergus. "It has been a long time, and if you don't remember much, then neither do we."
"Regardless... Because of the blood you have drunk so far, your powers are reawakening." says Aiya. "They're not fully there yet, and there's still much to go. Plus, to get more of your powers back, you will not only need to drink blood but also devour souls."
"But, why must I do that? I don't want to hurt people." says Ester. "Can't there at least be another way?"
"Sadly there is not, but you can still continue to protect the innocent if you so wish. Even so, this is what you must do, Ester." says Aiya.
"And since your powers haven't fully returned, we shall protect you from harm." says Sergus. "After all, if you die, both Aiya and I die."
"I see. So... I guess I have no choice." says Ester. "If these instincts are going to continue to kick in when facing bad people, I need to accept it all and just do what I can to protect those that can't protect themselves while building up my power to do my protecting more efficiently. Still, to have these powers... The gods must be cruel."
"Worry not too much, Ester." says Sergus. "We'll be by your side."
"Yes, being both your swords and shields until your full powers have returned." says Aiya.
"Well, at least I'm not alone, but... Where do I go from here?" asks Ester. "I guess we just keep moving forward. But for now, I want to rest."
"Go ahead." says Aiya.
"We'll keep watch." says Sergus.
"Thank you, both of you." says Ester. "For some odd reason, I feel I can trust you both. We'll see where that goes form here on out."
