The story takes place right after the season 10 finale, after Dean killed Death, the Mark of Cain was removed and Darkness was released into the world. I mentioned before, new characters will be added and thrown in the story and I will bring back several former characters from the show in the upcoming future.
Chapter 97 More Things That Go Bump In The Woods
Dean and Ava were running together for their lives further and further into the eerie forest as they were now panting in sweat. They were both nearly side by side with Ava a little ahead of Dean as Dean had to make sure Ava was either with him or ahead of him after their last ordeal which he still partly blamed himself despite Ava swearing it was not his fault. Both of their legs were now getting sore and they were tired, but their fear and their survival instincts kept them from stopping, in fact they just kept running faster and faster as they were determined to escape from what was chasing them.
The sound of the creature chasing them seemed further and further away and they were relieved that they managed to outrun it, but they knew in time it would catch up as they kept their running not once slowing down. Then to their luck, they come upon another river and both of them stop now out of breath. Dean had to bend down a little to catch is breath while Ava just looked out for that creature that was after them.
"So, what now, do we swim for it?" cried out Dean in a sarcastic tone who by now stood upright again.
Ava just looked at the river and looked back to where they could hear the sound of that creature knowing it was heading their way.
"There is only one thing we can do and that is to get into the water" Ava cried out.
"Are you kidding me, I was joking about that swimming for it" replied Dean.
"Dean, it's the only way, trust me on this" said Ava and she grabbed Dean's hand and lured him to the river quickly.
"Perfect, I'm not in mood for a nice bath" replied Dean again sarcastically.
Ava dragged Dean quickly toward the river and soon, she stepped into the water dragging Dean with her.
"Come on, hurry before that thing catches up to us" she told him.
Soon both of them still holding hands stepped into the dirty looking water as Dean just cringed not just from how cold the water is but also how nasty it looked and he couldn't imagine what nasty things are in the water. They stepped further into the eerie water as they heard the growling sound of the creature that got louder and they knew it was getting closer. Both Dean and Ava were now deep into the water until their heads were only sticking out and Dean was still cringing to the cold feel of the water plus, he didn't like being in the middle of what appeared to be a filthy river. Ava was holding onto Dean's hands and now the two were facing each other.
"Okay, that thing is getting really close now, we have to dunk and hold our breaths" she told him.
"You are so going to owe me long-hot sex after this, I'm telling you" he told her squirming in the water now restraining his disgust.
"You're on, now quickly duck" she said and soon they both dunk under water.
Within moments, the creature appeared still growling. The creature was quite big, it had the body of a lion and the face that almost looked human but not quite and it had a very large long tail of a scorpion. It had stopped running but was now looking about curiously like a dog walking about and sniffing on the ground. It kept on walking about looking around the area slowly not making a hurry to leave as if it sensed that Dean and Ava were still around somewhere. As it kept sniffing about, Dean and Ava who could no longer hold their breaths quickly popped up slightly above the water really quietly half way, so that the only part of their heads were sticking out. They both caught their breaths making sure not to make any noise and luckily the creature had it's back turned at that moment and didn't see them. After a few seconds the creature turned around and Dean and Ava at the exact same time quickly bopped back down into the river before the creature had time to see them.
The creature then walked near the river continued sniffing about like a bloodhound. After few moments, the creature finally seemed to give up it's search and starting walking away. Dean and Ava popped up slowly again from the river part way to catch their breaths just enough time to see the creature walk slowly away into the woods. When it was finally out of sight, Dean and Ava then pop their heads up higher into the water now relieved.
"That thing is gone now and hopefully we won't run into it again" said Ava.
"Good, now can we get out of this choca- river" replied Dean.
Soon the two of them climb out of the river all wet and a bit cold. Both Dean and Ava had their arms slightly wrapped around themselves to keep warm although it's no use.
"Oh gawd, I hate being so wet" replied Ava looking uncomfortable as she moved around a bit.
"Hey, it was your idea to get into the river not mine" Dean reminded her.
"I know, that was to hide from that beast as I figured it couldn't pick up our scent in the water" said Ava.
"Good thing you were right, or we would have been snack food for sure" said Dean.
"Anyway, I could just get out of these wet clothes right now" said Ava.
"Hey, now you're talking" said Dean with a grin on his face.
"Hey, I mean we both may need to get out wet clothes since it could be god knows how long for them to dry" Ava replied.
"The two of us in the woods naked, you do have a one-track mind" replied Dean again with a sly grin.
"It's just until our clothes are dry alright, Mr. Dirty Mind" said Ava amused by his remarks.
"Okay, okay, I admit I couldn't stomach walking around these woods in these wet clothes either" said Dean.
"So lets go find a nice spot and all" said Ava.
"I know and get undressed" Dean finished.
Ava just ignored Dean's remark and turned towards the wooded area.
"We should go in the opposite direction that creature went" she suggested.
"Good thinking" Dean replied.
Ava still had her arms folded around her body trying to keep a bit warm.
"Oh, I really could use is a warm shower, I wished I could do that while we're waiting for our clothes to dry" she said.
"Not to worry, I can think of what we could do to warm ourselves up while we're waiting" Dean said again that same sly grin on his face.
"Oh, shut up" Ava said with a brief laugh as she playfully nudged Dean's shoulder.
"Come on, lets get out of here" she said.
Later that day, there were under a large tree with their clothes hanging on the branches. They were both now in their underwear with Ava also still wearing her bra and her once pinned up hair was now let down and loose hanging down to her shoulders and also wet. Their shoes were lying on the ground nearby and both Ava and Dean were sitting under the tree now snuggled up together in order to keep themselves warm as they were both still wet as ever. They were both silent for a while, but Ava was the one to first break that silence.
"You know, I wonder what the others are doing right now?" she asked turning to Dean.
"What, you mean Sam, Gwen and Madame Bess?" Dean asked as he turned his head towards her.
"Yes, I mean, I don't think Rowena killed them or anything since she didn't kill us, but I wonder what she did do to them, did she zapped them somewhere too or are they out there trying like crazy to find us, maybe Madame Bess saw where we are in one of her visions or performed one of her séances and they are all out looking for Rowena right now" Ava replied.
"Yes, that could be it, Sam out there relentless trying to locate Rowena, never going to stop until he finds her and forces her to bring us back, Madame Bess and Gwen are probably helping using their visions and for all we know they are close to finding her right now" said Dean.
"Do you really believe that?" asked Ava.
"I don't know, I would like to think that's what's happening and it could be, the one thing I do know is Sam would never give up trying to find me" Dean said.
"Well, that's good and all but there is also the chance that Rowena zapped Sam and the others to some place that is just as creepy as where she zapped us and they are out there trying to stay alive hoping we're out in the real world trying to find them" Ava said.
"I know that could be a possibility Ava" said Dean.
"Or maybe she's holding them captive now with the help of that witch friend of hers or whatever and they need rescuing" Ava went on.
Dean just paused a bit with a slight worried look on his face as he knew what Ava was saying could be true.
"As much as I hate to admit it, I've worried about that too but even if that is the case, like I told you before, Castiel is still out there, and I know by now he knows we're all in trouble since he never heard back from us and he's already tried to contact us and he'll figure out that Rowena is behind us being missing. And despite him being on mission with his army of angels, we are more like family to him as he's to us and he would stop at nothing to find us, he'll never give up trying to find Rowena so he can find out what happened to us even if that means getting extra help like our old pal Crowley" he told her now feeling a bit more relieved again.
"Yeah, I know, your little frenemy the King of Hell, even so I would forever grateful if your angel pal finds that witch and make her get us out of this place and I would even be grateful to the King of Hell if he has anything to do with us being rescued form here God help me though" Ava replied.
"Hey, I know this place is no paradise but there are some perks to being in this utopia from Hell" said Dean.
"Yeah, like what?" asked Ava.
"For one thing, you and me huddled together under this tree practically naked, that's one of things I can enjoy" said Dean with a grin on his face.
"Yeah a bet" replied Ava with a grin and an almost laugh.
They paused for a while and Dean's expression suddenly changed from grin to a more serious look as Ava began to relax her head on his shoulder again feeling a bit tired now. Then Dean spoke up again.
"You know Ava, don't worry, I promise you we will get out of this, I just know it. I was sent to hell, trapped in purgatory and managed to come out of that and now I just know in my gut the two of us will get out of this being trapped in the underworld as you call it" he told her.
Ava just sighed as she continued to rest her head on Dean's shoulder feeling quite more as the cuddled up together and quite safe in his arms that for a moment right there and then she never wanted to be out of them.
"I know, I believe you Dean Winchester, I can believe anything you say right now" she said and soon they both were silent for a while.
They both sat cuddled up under that she for what seemed the longest time as they both had for a while at least dozed off in each other's arms. Many hours later their clothes had dried. By that evening, they were both wearing their clothes now dried clothes again and they started traveling a bit for while hoping not to run into any more creatures. They were both getting a very tired and Ava legs were getting sore, so they stopped to rest and again under another large tree. Ava must have been more tired then expected as it no time she dozed off again laying her head on Dean's shoulder and Dean just sat there quiet not wanting to wake her just yet as he didn't feel like getting up either.
Just then Dean heard a noise, it sounded like almost like a high voice of someone singing a tune although he didn't know what that tune was. He turned to glance at Ava who was still asleep resting her head on his shoulder. Dean instantly decided to wake her and shook her awake.
"Ava, Ava wake up" he cried.
Ava quickly opened her eyes and lifted her head off his shoulder.
"Huh, what!" she cried out.
"Do you hear that sound?" asked Dean.
Ava started rubbing her eyes a bit as she was still a bit sleepy.
"What sound?" she asked who was still a bit confused.
"That sound" cried out Dean and soon Ava too heard the high pitched voice of someone singing what appeared to be a tune.
The voice sounded hauntingly beautiful as did the tune of whatever song. It was all quite strange and mystifying at the same time.
"What is that?" cried out Ava.
"I don't know it almost sounds like a woman's voice, like a woman singing?" said Dean was feeling a bit creeped out about it.
Ava, was also creeped out about that voice or who or whatever it was. "Oh, Dean, this is creepy do you think it's another creature or something?" she asked looking a bit nervous.
"We've met plenty of freaks in this place already I wonder what's next a Cyclops" replied Dean sarcastically.
"Oh, Dean this can't be good no matter what" said Ava kind of frightened even though she had to admit the sound didn't sound scary at all but it still freaked her out.
"Well, I don't think we should just sit here like sitting ducks, we better investigate what this sound is coming from just to be prepared for anything" said Dean.
"Okay, I don't want to just sit here not knowing what that sound is or who" said Ava.
The two then got up from under the tree and now standing, they both looked around wondering in what direction that sound was coming from.
"Hey, I think it's coming from this way" said Dean as he pointed towards the right and soon they made their way from where they heard the sound as it got louder and they knew they were getting closer.
"I think I know where that sound is coming from, I think it's coming from that river nearby" said Dean as he was leading the way with Ava right close behind him.
"I know, but what can it be, it almost sounds like a person and not a creature singing a beautiful tune" said Ava.
"Yeah, this thing or whatever could make an album" said Dean again being sarcastic.
They continued walking rather quietly and cautiously through the wooded area looking about their surroundings now and then until they reached the river and the singing sounded even louder than before. Then as they looked about the river they both saw something that shocked them both leaving their mouths hanging open. Standing right in front of the eerie looking river was what appeared to be a beautiful woman. Her skin was very pale looking almost white as snow but a young beautiful face with long almost white blonde hair that hung almost to the elbows. Her eyes were a very pale blue and she had a perfect shaped nose. She was wearing a long white long-sleeved dress that hung down covering her entire ankles. Her mouth was now open as she kept singing the same beautiful but haunting tune over and over again. She looked like a beautiful woman out of a storybook.
Despite how creepy all of this was, Dean couldn't help but be mystified or mesmerized by such a strange beauty and Ava even noticed Dean's mesmerized stare he gave this mysterious woman.
"Gee, she looks almost human, we haven't seen many of those not since we first arrived. Plus, she speaks or I say sings, not like those zombies we saw our first day here" he said who still couldn't take his eyes off the strange woman.
The woman continued her singing and was now staring right at Dean as her eyes met his and she didn't take her eyes off him at all not even noticing Ava, but kept her gaze on Dean in an almost hypnotic way. Ava started to notice this too as she saw that both Dean and this woman were just standing there glaring into each other as if nothing else around them mattered and neither seemed to take their eyes off the other for a minute. This was making Ava a bit uncomfortable even more as she didn't understand what was happening but sensed this wasn't good. She then tugged at Dean's arm.
"Dean, I'm getting a bit nervous about all of this maybe we should just leave" she said to him.
But Dean didn't respond, like he couldn't even hear her but kept on staring at the woman as if he was in some trance.
"Dean, did you hear me I think we should go now" replied Ava more urgently as she tugged on his arm even harder now was really getting scared.
Dean still didn't respond and but kept gazing at the woman with a calm peaceful look on his face. Whatever was going on it appeared that this strange woman had him completely in a hypnotic trance and nothing not even Ava could snap him out of hit.
"Dean, what is the matter with you!" cried out Ava as she tried to shake him out of his trance, but it was no use, Dean acted like she wasn't even there.
Then the strange woman lifted up her left hand and had it forward as if she was gesturing Dean to come to her. Within a moment, Dean started walking towards the woman as Ava just stood there worried.
"Dean, Dean what are you doing!" she cried out to him but he wouldn't respond to her just kept going over to where the woman was as Ava kept calling out to him.
Soon he was standing right next to her as the woman turned to face him now placing her hand on his face and lightly stroking his face as if she was his lover. Ava just stood there feeling helpless, shock, scared and a bit of jealousy as she didn't know what to do, this woman whatever she was had Dean in a total trance and she knew she was going to do something bad to him and she wasn't going to let that happen.
"What are you doing bitch get away from him!" she cried out to the woman, but she ignored her and within seconds, the woman removed her hand from Dean's face and suddenly Dean collapsed to the ground.
"Dean!" called out Ava as she began moving forward.
Dean was now lying on the ground on his back now unconscious with is arms slightly sprang out.
"You leave him alone you goddamn freak or I'll kill you!" cried out Ava to the woman as started walking up to her real fast almost running.
But then the woman quickly turned to Ava and her once beautiful face now looked grotesque with her sharp fangs like an animal or vampire, her eyes suddenly glowing red and her skin now hideous. Ava stopped dead in her tracks as she saw what the thing looked like and was now taken aback. The creature then turned to Dean again and suddenly got down on her knees, kneeling down to Dean as she was going near his face. Ava started to figure out what that thing was and knew Dean was in danger and that she had to save him. She suddenly pulled out her lighter and using the sweatshirt she had wrapped around her waist and balling it up walked real fast up to that creature again. The creature was now practically on top of Dean with her face almost touching his and was going near his neck.
"Hey bitch, wanna play with fire!" cried out Ava who then flicked her lighter until fire was streaming out and she held out the flicked lighter at the woman hoping the small fire would make her back away.
It appeared to work as the creature got up from Dean and backed away a bit. Ava kept sticking the flicked lighter up close to the creature's face as it appeared to lunged at Ava but then backed off from seeing the fire now revealing her grotesque appearance at her making that screeching sound again as it roared at Ava. Ava then took her lighter and lit her now balled up sweatshirt in the other hand on fire. Now holding her shirt that was now started to burning and the fire was spreading quickly, she threw the shirt right at the creature and it landed near her feet touching the helm of her long dress. Soon the end of the creature's dress began to set on fire and the creature looked down and started to howl even louder waving her arms around as if in pain before retreating running towards the river right into the water until she was waist down in it. Then seconds later it got out of the river and just seemed to give up on its prey and turned around and fled into the dark woods soon out of sight.
Ava stood there and watched the creature's every move the whole time. After it was out of sight, she turned to see her burning shirt still on the ground and seeing there was no other way to put the fire out, she ran towards the river literally pulled off one of her shoes from her foot without untying it first and put it down in the river scooping up some water using her shoe as a cup and ran quickly towards the burning shirt and poured water down on it. She did this repeatedly a few more times until the fire was out. Then she just dropped her shoe and quickly ran towards Dean who was still on the ground unconscious. Ava knelt down over him and starting to shake him awake.
"Dean, please wake up, wake up Dean, Dean!" she cried out as she kept shaking him and started slapping his face a few times first lightly then harder.
Dean finally opened his eyes looking a bit disoriented. "Hey, what the hell" he cried out as he moved his head around trying to figure out what's going on then looked at Ava.
"Oh, good you're okay" she cried out relieved.
"Yeah, shouldn't I be?" Dean replied.
"I was scared that you were done when that thing was going to attack you" Ava said.
Dean just laid there still looking confused and then his eyes lit up as if he was remembering something he forget.
"Hey, the last thing I remember we were found that woman or whatever she was in white who was singing like some opera singer or something" Dean replied.
"Well, that woman was actually an empusa" said Ava.
"A what?" asked Dean confused.
"An empusa, I just remembered about the Greek mythology on them too. They are female creatures who how the power to induce a man in a sleep like paralysis and then drain him of his blood like vampires. They can take form of beautiful women to lure unsuspecting men and their true forms are ugly creatures with fangs kind of like medusa and that thing put you in some kind of trance lured you over to her put you in a sleep and was about drink your blood" she explained.
"So you're saying that chick was actually some ugly creature who put me in a trance like Count Dracula and put me to sleep and was about to snack on my blood" Dean said as he sat up.
Ava nodded her head. "Bascically and she would have if I hadn't stepped in saved your ass, and luckily she fled but it cost me my shirt" she told him.
"So, you saved my life?" asked Dean.
Ava nodded grinning. "Yes, I did" she said.
"Guess that makes you my hero this time" he said sarcastically.
"Well, it makes us even you saved my life once before" she told him and Dean smiled back glaring at her.
"Wow" he said.
"Wow, what?" asked Ava.
"Still can get over being hypnotized by some beautiful babe who was actually some ugly hag trying to drain my blood" he said.
"Do you really thing she was so beautiful?" asked Ava.
"Hey, don't be jealous she wasn't as hot as you" he replied.
"Oh really" said Ava grinning.
"Yeah, really, you're quite a babe, I prefer the hot kickass chicks over ones trying drink all my blood any day" he told her in a sarcastic tone.
"Well, that's good to know, I'm just glad you're okay" said Ava.
"Yeah, now that you're here" said Dean still grinning.
Before any of them knew it they two started kissing on the lips and the kissing got more passionately until they started removing their clothes and gave into their sexual pleasure once more seeming to forget about what just happened moments earlier and not worrying about anymore oncoming danger. The two just got lost into each other in their intimacy where the only thing that mattered was that the two of them together.
