The story takes place right after the season 10 finale, after Dean killed Death, the Mark of Cain was removed and Darkness was released into the world. I mentioned before, new characters will be added and thrown in the story and I will bring back several former characters from the show in the upcoming future.
Chapter 101 Getting Answers
More than an hour had passed since Crowley, Castiel and his minions stormed the mansion where Rowena and her coven were residing and now the three along with Madame Bess were back in at her house in Minnesota in the living room with Rowena who was still in chains as so much had happened in between.
First, Castiel and Crowley along with the help of his demons disposed of the corpses of the witches by burning their bodies deep in the woods and burying all of them while Olivette and Madame Bess who was no longer under Rowena's spell after Castiel forced Rowena to remove the spell off of her remained behind in the house watching over a defeated Rowena. The medium was more than less then thrilled when she was back to her normal self shocked at being under evil's influence as she put it in aiding Rowena and her coven. The first thing she did was demand to know what happened to her granddaughter and both Crowley and Castiel had to fend her off Rowena who just stood there looking smug not threatened at all by the medium's threats.
When Madame Bess was able to compose herself and comprehend all that had happened including Castiel arrival and his help in stopping the witch, she was so thrilled to see him again but she when forced to acknowledge Crowley and his demons she was quite weary and fearful of being in the presence of the King of Hell in his minions as they were all the source of evil presence. But Castiel had to calm her down and reassure her that he isn't a threat to her and is actually helping him in their goal to find out what happened to her granddaughter, Ava and the Winchester brothers. Madame Bess then calmed down a bit determined to know what happened to her granddaughter and was willing to trust Castiel although she still didn't trust the evil presence she was facing but she had to put that aside if that meant finding Gwen. After disposing of all the bodies, Crowley sent Olivette on her way as she was looking forward to joining her grand coven again all too willing to reveal to the witches at the coven and outside the coven what Rowena did to her and basically blacklist her among the witches community. She was a bit upset she wouldn't be taking the Book of Damned since Castiel insisted on holding on to it and she couldn't risk trying to overpower an angel and a group of demons including the King of Hell.
Then they made Rowena take the servitude spell off of James the owner of the mansion and his two domestic help and then Castiel erased away their memories of Rowena and any of them and made them all fall asleep by typically placing his fingers on their foreheads then along with Rowena, Madame Bess and Crowley left the mansion. Next stop was to take the servitude spell off of the other residents of Newport but Rowena insisted that the spell would be removed once she leaves town. With that, Castiel teleported with Madame Bess and Crowley with Rowena out of town back to the Madame Bess's house and here they were standing in the living room. Before they forced Rowena to tell them where the others were, Castiel insisted on teleporting again which annoyed both Crowley and Madame Bess who really wanted to find her grandchild. However, within a minute Castiel was back now with anxious Adam in the middle of the living room.
"Woah, man, I got to get used to that" he replied as he looked around his surroundings with curiosity.
"Oh, for hell's sake, why did you bring Baby Winchester to the party?" asked Crowley who wasn't to thrilled with fifth party being present.
"He's Dean and Sam's brother, I promised him once we had Rowena captured and powerless, I would fetch him and bring him along so he can be here when she brings them back" replied Castiel.
"Hey, all I care about is where are my brothers, are they okay, what did she do them!" said Adam impatiently.
"Hey, cool down there baby brother!' replied Crowley snarkily.
"No, I won't cool down, Castiel you told me that you captured this witch Rowena and she will tell us where Dean and Sam are and you can make her get them back, I've waited over a week, so why don't you guys make this witch tell what she did to them already" said Adam now more impatient as in angrily walked up to Rowena staring sternly in the face.
Rowena just grinned unphased by Adam's presence and glared right back at him. "Oh, my, you must be the littlest brother of the Winchester boys, nice to meet you, wow you are persistent just like your big brothers aren't you, I guess it runs in the family" she remarked all sarcastically.
This just angered Adam even more as he walked up closer to her now up in her face.
"Just tell me where Dean and Sam are what did you do them lady" he fired back trying to sound intimidating.
Castiel then stepped up and gently pulled him back.
"Adam, trust me we will get Dean and Sam back but you got to let us take care of this" he told him soothingly.
Adam was still anxious as he turned to face him. "Castiel, I just need to know where my brothers are already, it's been too long" he told him.
"I know Adam but like I said, we are handling it. I promise you we will make Rowena tell us what she did to them and bring the back to us" Castiel told him in a sympathetic tone.
"I hope so" said Adam calming down a bit.
"Oh, play me the violins" Rowena said snarkily.
"Hey, you!" Adam cried out walking up to her again real fast until Castiel grabbed him pulled him away again.
"Adam, calm down, don't let her get to you okay" he said to him in sympathetic tone.
"Hello Adam" said Madame Bess who after being silent this whole time decided to step in and intervene as she approached Adam.
"We haven't had a chance to meet yet, but I'm Madame Bess, me and my granddaughter Gwen also know your brothers. In fact, I'll say we all became good friends after going through quite a lot together. We were the ones that contacted them about Rowena's whereabouts since we knew they were determined to find her so in a way we're kind of responsible for this situation" she said.
"That isn't really accurate since Dean and Sam trying to track her down and wouldn't give up looking for her no matter what with or without your assistance" Castiel told her.
Madame Bess just glared at him sorrowfully. "Yes, I know that, but deep down I still can't help feel like partly responsible for bringing them up here although I know they were determined to find her anyway. Me and Gwen just wanted to help them like we did before, I guess we felt obliged to them. Now my granddaughter is missing because of that witch that I allowed to be brought to my house along with Dean, Sam and Ava and I had a hex placed on me making me her personal slave, so I can't help but feel a bit guilty for some of this" she replied.
"Like I said before, none of this is on you, you were only helping the Winchesters in doing what they needed to do. In fact, if it wasn't for you Rowena wouldn't have been stopped from her evil plans, and now we got the book back and she is rendered powerless again, we can make her get everybody else back and it will all be alright again" Castiel told her.
"Yeah, I agree with Castiel, I don't blame you ma'am, my brothers told me they had been hoping to find this witch and get some book back, I could care less about that I just want to get them back now" Adam told her. Madame Bess felt touched by both the angel and the young man's words just smiled thinking about her Gwen.
"Lets just hope we all get them back again" said Madame Bess.
'Yes, we can all be together like a big happy family again" Rowena said sarcastically.
"Stuff it mummy" Crowley fired back.
"Now that is no way to talk to you mother isn't sonny boy" said Rowena sarcastically again.
"Enough you two" cried out Castiel impatiently then he turned to face Rowena.
"Now you are going to tell us where Dean, Sam, Gwen and Ava are and you are going to tell us right now" he demanded.
"Oh, I just luv a man who takes charge there darling" said Rowena still trying to be snarky.
"I said spill it already, where are they Rowena!" said Castiel slightly raising his voice.
"Alright, alright, you don't have to get sniffy, well you can say when my dear departed friend Isadora came and rescued me from being chained up in that horrid basement for days, I sort of lost my temper and decided to teach them all a lesson" she replied.
"What did you do to them?" Castiel asked angrily.
"I'm getting to that luv. Well, anyway, like I said before, I sort of sent Dean and his little girlfriend on a wild goose chase to get the dragon's heart, making them believe that it was part of the ingredients for a spell to you know bring back the Mark of Cain on Dean, of course that was all a sham, there is no such spell, but alas, once I was free I was a able to cast a spell that sent Dean and Ava far away to a place of another world" she said slyly.
"Where!" cried out Castiel still impatient.
"Well, I'm afraid I sent them to the Underworld" she told him.
"To where?" cried out Castiel.
"You know the Underworld, Hades, the world of the dead" replied Rowena like it was no big deal.
"Bloody hell, the Underworld!" cried out Crowley taken aback by his mother's words.
"No freaking way, the Underworld with Hades, that just lore in Greek mythology, I remember learning from my high school class" said Adam.
"I'm afraid that isn't true, little tyke, in fact such a place does exist" replied Crowley.
"What, you're saying the Underworld from the Greek Mythology is real?' asked Madame Bess with a surprised look on her face.
"That' is exactly what I'm saying" Crowley told her as everyone except him and Rowena all looked shocked.
Even Castiel looked like he couldn't believe what he just heard as he turned to Crowley.
"That can't be, the Underworld was just a myth where humans are suppose to go when they die but that isn't true since that is what Heaven and Hell is for" he replied.
Crowley turned to Castiel and lightly shook his head.
"I'm sorry there, old angel pal, but this is the thing I guess the Man Upstairs didn't inform you and your little fellow winged buddies about. You see the Underworld is not just some made up fairytale, but it is actually real, just as real as your home upstairs and mine below" he told him.
"But how can this be?" asked Castiel confused.
"Yes, I like to know this myself" replied Madame Bess.
"Well you see dearies, the Underworld is a whole separate world from Hell run by the god Hades with only the main entrance, more like the front gate separating the two worlds. Of course, it is said a gigantic three-headed dog called Cerbes guards the entrance, that is so huge and vicious they make my hellhounds seem like puppies. Anyway, this world is where anybody goes who isn't neither evil or good. I mean they are too bad for heaven yet too good for hell, just somewhere in the middle, they get sent to the Underworld" Crowley finished.
"What, I always thought that purgatory is for people who was neither bad or good" said Adam who was still amazed at what he was hearing.
"Purgatory?" cried out Crowley who just shook his head again. "Oh, you poor ignorant lad, what have they've been teaching you. Purgatory is where all the monsters on this planet go to when they kick the bucket" he told him.
"What, you mean there is a place monsters like vampires and werewolves go to when they die, I just assumed they don't go anywhere since they had no souls anymore" said Adam still surprised.
"Like I said before what have they been teaching you?" replied Crowley.
"Well, this is all a surprise to me too then the things I learn about the supernatural seems to amaze me more and more and now this" said Madame Bess.
"Have you ever seen the entrance to this place?" asked Castiel.
Crowley shook his head. "No, but from what heard the story is Lucifer once did but he couldn't get through the gates to get pass that gigantic mutt and he couldn't use his hocus pocus to destroy the mutt as it had some kind of charm put on it by Hades. Besides, Hades is more powerful than any demon or archangel and he could be a force to be reckon with if any other deity challenged him like trespass in his world" he explained.
"Does that mean Dean and this Ava chick are in danger?" asked Adam in a worried tone.
"Don't worry laddie, I doubt that Hades would harm any living humans as he would know if they entered into his domain and they didn't do so on their own free will. Besides, it is said and this is only from what I heard that Hades doesn't involve himself or have anything to do with those sent to his world ever, of course this is only a rumor that goes around" Crowley said.
"But still are they safe, is there any danger in that world?" asked Castiel.
"Of course, I also heard that that place is filled with many creatures some dangerous even that you humans might have heard about already in lore that you don't believe exist, although they may not be a danger to the souls there who are already dead but to two living humans in the flesh that might be a bit different" Crowley told him.
"You mean Dean is in danger in that place" cried out Adam who looked scared of the thought.
"Don't worry Adam, Dean is a survivor, he's hunted and killed many monsters in this world, plus the time we both were trapped in purgatory together, he can more than capable of taking care of himself in dangerous surroundings" Castiel reassured him.
"Angel boy is right there laddie, the one thing I can count on about your big brothers is they always manage overcome any danger they're in like true superheroes" replied Crowley in a sarcastic tone.
"We just got to get them back and quick" replied Adam.
"We will Adam, I promise you that" said Castiel in a soothing tone although he was scared for his friends too.
He then turned back to Rowena. "Okay what about Sam and Gwen what did you do to them, are they okay?" he asked her in a demanding tone.
"Yes, where is my granddaughter, did you send them too to some far away place" cried out Madame Bess in anxious tone.
Rowena who had been silent and was listening to all the back and forth between them and quite enjoying the shock just smirked and spoke up.
"Oh them, well I sent the two lovebirds someplace different, much different" she said with a sly grin.
"Where to, where are they, tell us now!" said Castiel in a demanding impatient tone.
"Oh, I just love it when you get all demanding there, angel babe, turns me on a bit" she replied back smirking, but this was making Castiel even more angry. "Okay, okay, there, lets just say I sent the dear ones to less scary place" she said.
"Where!" yelled Castiel getting fed up with her vagueness.
"I transported the two inside one the paintings in this living room we're in" she said.
"What do you mean you sent them inside one of my paintings" replied Madame Bess not believing what she just heard as everybody else just looked confused to her comment.
"I mean what I said, I sent them inside one of your paintings. The lovely painting of a lovely scenery, the one with the drawing of a lovely running brook and a bridge and a cottage in the background that you have hanging on your wall" she told them.
"What, how could that be?" asked Madame Bess still shocked.
"Show us this painting!" demanded Castiel.
"If you insist" said Rowena slyly.
She then pointed to the painting of the one she described hanging on the wall behind the couch. "This is where I sent and it's such a lovely place, I'm sure the two lovebirds are enjoying themselves or have" she replied in a suggestive tone.
The others just stood there where the painting was and looked on in shock.
"Holy crap, Sam and this Gwen are really trapped in there, I mean how, is that even possible" asked Adam as he reached out to touch the painting.
"It's quite possible, little lamb, they are in a lovely paradise, a lovely scenery for eternity" Rowena replied.
Madame Bess who still couldn't believe all what she heard reach out and touched the painting with her fingers and just felt it. Then she was in a trance like state for several seconds as the others watched her curiously.
"Madame Bess, ma'am, are you okay" Castiel spoke up as he reached out to touch her shoulder.
Madame Bess then quickly stopped touching the painting and was out of her trance as she turned to him with an anxious look on her face.
"Ma'am are you okay?" asked Castiel again. Madame Bess took a breath.
"Yes, I'm fine dear. It's just that when I touched that painting, I felt their presence inside it. Rowena is speaking the truth, Gwen and Sam are trapped somewhere inside this painting, I could feel that within my bones and I can also sense that where ever they are, they are safe" she said with some relief.
"I still can't believe this, Dean is in the Underworld from the old Greek lore only it really exists and Sam is in a painting?" replied Adam looking so confused by all of this.
"Yes, quite impressive mummy, trapping one brother into the land of the dead and the other in a drawing like Mary Poppins" said Crowley in a sarcastic tone.
"Well, no matter what, you are going to get them out from there and bring them back" Castiel said in a demanding tone.
Rowena just sighed. "I suppose I don't have a choice" she said in a calm tone.
"No, you don't, you are going to bring them back or elseā¦" remarked Castiel.
Yes, I know, I know already. Well, I can bring Sam and the psychic back right now, but I will need ingredients to perform a spell to get Dean and his red-headed sidekick back from the underworld" Rowena interrupted.
"Fine, we will get the ingredients, you just perform the spell and you better succeed" warned Castiel.
"Yes, I know dear, or it will be my beautiful ass" she finished his sentence.
"You betcha" said Castiel in tough-guy tone.
Rowena just sighed again. "Well okay, shell begin getting you two boyfriends back then" she said with a smirk.
I just want to wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. I will post more chapters in January hopefully I can finish this story sometime by next year.
