The story takes place right after the season 10 finale, after Dean killed Death, the Mark of Cain was removed and Darkness was released into the world. I mentioned before, new characters will be added and thrown in the story and I will bring back several former characters from the show in the upcoming future.
Chapter 102 And Then Two Came Back
Not much time had passed in Madame Bess's house as the group were all still disgruntled in the living room standing in front of one of the paintings hanged up on the wall behind a couch. Castiel had demanded Rowena use her spell to release Sam and Gwen from the painting. Rowena just smirked at him with a smug look on her face once again.
"But the problem is my dear, in order for me to do that, I have to be able to use my powers and for that to happen you'll have to take these chains off me" she told him as she lifted up her arms to show the metal chains that are still on her wrists used to make her powerless.
Castiel didn't like the idea of doing anything to make her powerful again but lucky both he and Crowley had back-up plan just in case.
"Alright, we had already prepared for that" said Castiel who then turned to Crowley.
"Prepared for what?" asked Rowena curious.
"You'll see mumsy" replied Crowley in a sarcastic tone.
Then one of his minions picked up the large duffel bag from the living room floor and placed it on the couch, unzipped it and pulled out another long steel chain with big neck shackle. Crowley continued to pull it out and hold it up.
"What the hell is that?" replied Rowena still looking confused.
"Oh, this new toy, is a device that is used to control powerful beings. You'll see, with this new baby on you, you will still be able use your powers, but we can control how you use them. Just a safety procedure to ensure you don't turn against us again mother dear" he told her sarcastically.
"Oh, how thoughtful of you my dear boy" Rowena fired back.
Crowley just walked up towards her holding the chain.
"Just hold still mum, this won't hurt" he said as he placed the neck shackle around her neck and locked it, then he held on to the end of the chain with a firm grip and turned to Castiel.
"Okay, angel luv, it's now safe to take those chains off her" he told him.
Castiel then removed the chains wrist shackles from around her wrists and dropped them on the floor while Rowena just rubbed her wrists that was a bit sore.
"Oh, perfect I'm from one prison to another" she replied not too thrilled of her predicament.
"Hey, you should consider yourself quite lucky mum, we can't take any chances with you, after everything so I'd be grateful if I was you" replied Crowley in a calm tone.
"Yes, I'm so grateful to you all" she said sarcastically.
"Enough now, can you perform the spell to get Sam and Gwen out of that painting or what?" Castiel demanded.
"Yes, it's time you release my granddaughter from wherever you sent her" Madame Bess added in as she was determined to see her granddaughter again.
Rowena sighed "Very well, lets get on with it already" she replied.
Crowley held firmly to the long chain around her neck and looked at her sternly.
"Good, now I command you to bring Sam and this Gwen back to where you sent them right now" he ordered.
"I'll do my best" said Rowena in a defeated tone.
She then turned to face the painting again and raised both her arms and soon started chanting in non-English words that nobody understood as they all just stared at her wondering what was going to happen. Within moments, a stream of blue glowing rays flowed out just like a science fiction movie in waves from Rowena's hands. Then the blue glowing rays covered the painting entirely while everybody kept looking on in amazement.
Somewhere inside the painting, Sam and Gwen were just sitting middle of the forest under a tree cuddled up together as they were engaging in conversation.
"Sam, I wonder if we will be in this place forever or it will seem like forever" said Gwen turning to Sam.
Sam didn't know what to say to Gwen as he had been thought about Dean, Castiel, Adam, them trapped in this place and wondering even if they do get out of this place and back to reality what will that mean for them. The idea scared him a bit and made a part of him not want to leave but the other part of him was desperate to get out of this place and back to his brothers, Castiel and back to the world.
"I don't know Gwen, I not sure anymore and I'm think we should stop worrying ourselves about it or it will make us crazy and maybe one day when we least expect it, we will be free" he told her.
"You're right, I know but I can't help thinking about my grandmother and our life back there as much as I've enjoyed being in this place with you. Lately, I've been thinking about her more and everybody else and wondering how long, will it be a like a year like it was with your brother and that angel Castiel when they were trapped in purgatory or a month or many months. That thought has always worried me but just recently it seems to scare me even more, and I can't stop thinking about it today" she told him.
Sam turned and started with is hand he started stroking Gwen's hair.
"I doubt it will take a year for us to get out here. Castiel is relentless and he if really wants to find Rowena he will and won't stop searching for her no matter what" Sam told her.
"But what if Rowena has done something to him or what if she's left the country by now" Gwen said worried again.
"One, no matter how powerful Rowena is, Castiel is far more powerful and clever, there is no way he'll let her destroy him and and two, he would search all around the world if he had to and never give up until he catches her. That is just who he is and he won't let it take a year to do that I can promise you" said Sam although he too was beginning to wonder and worry himself some the things Gwen was telling him but didn't want to admit so he had to convince himself of what he was saying.
Gwen just sighed and relax her head on his shoulder.
"I guess your right again but even if what you say is true and we get out of this place soon I have to ask again what will…"
Gwen wasn't able to finish her question because just then, they both felt a heavy gust of wind on them which was quite strange since it never gets windy ever in this place. The wind was getting heavier each time and the felt it on their bodies. The strange thing though that the wind didn't affect anything in this place as none of the grass, or branches on the trees swayed at the blowing of the wind. Sam and Gwen however were affected by the wind as they felt it on their bodies it made their hair and clothes sway and Gwen had to brush strands of hair from her face. They both then quickly got up in confusion.
"Sam what on earth is this, this never happened before?" she asked looking all bewildered.
Sam was just as dazed as she was and didn't understand. "Beats me" he told her.
The wind was getting stronger and stronger as they felt it brush violently against them and before they knew it, they saw stream of blue glowing rays coming out of nowhere and fly towards them in waves. Gwen was scared and was prepared to run in fright as she gasped. But Sam quickly grabbed her.
"Sam, I'm scared!" she cried out in terror.
But Sam didn't appear so frightened and just grabbed a tight grip on her wrist.
"Don't be afraid Gwen, I think it's going to be alright, I just feel like it is" he cried out.
"How can you be so sure!" cried out Gwen who still wanted to run away.
"I just know it is you got to trust me on this okay!" Sam cried out facing her.
Gwen was facing him too now and glaring right into his eyes she started to feel afraid a bit less and she felt more safe with at him at her side that she could believe anything he said.
"Okay, Sam I do" she cried out as they both gave a quick smile to each other.
Then they both turned back to face the flowing blue glowing rays that was coming at them and within moments they were both completely surrounded with the blue glowing rays and within seconds, the blue rays started flowing back into sky disappeared along with Sam and Gwen. The blue glowing rays were now no longer surrounding the painting but now formed into a large ball-like figure in the middle of the living room and within seconds quickly disappeared and the only thing left was Sam and Gwen now lying on the living room carpet as the strong wind had sent them down to the floor and they both sat up looking quite dazed out from their experience.
They just looked around their surroundings in amazement still trying to process what had happened to him and where they are now. The others however didn't pause to process anything, the moment they saw it was Sam and Gwen, Madame Bess quickly cried out to her granddaughter with a look on her face so filled with joy as if she hadn't never been glad to see someone in her life.
"Gwen!" she cried as she rushed over to her granddaughter.
"Sam!" cried out Adam shortly after Madame Bess cried out to Gwen and he too rushed over to where Sam was.
Both Sam and Gwen quickly got up from the floor and when Gwen saw her grandmother, she too had a look of joy in her seeing her again.
"Grandmom!" she cried to her and they both soon rushed into each other's arms hugging each other both now crying a bit out of joy of seeing each other again.
Adam rushed over and gave Sam a hug overcome by his emotions as Sam was a bit taken aback of Adam being there but gave him a little hug anyway. Then Adam pulled away a bit.
"Oh Sam, I'm so glad we got you back again, you have no idea" he told his big brother.
"I'm glad to see you too Adam but what are you doing here?" Sam asked as he was still mixed on feeling half thrilled, yet half confused of Adam not being at the bunker where he should be.
"I brought him here, he insisted on being here when we captured Rowena and force her to bring you guys back" explained Castiel who also was feeling quite thrilled on seeing Sam again too despite trying to contain his emotions.
Sam just smiled as he looked up at Castiel noticing him for the first time and he eyes lit up at the sight his angel friend and comrade.
"Castiel" he cried out and ran up to the angel and gave him a big hug who hugged him back.
"It's so great seeing you again, I just knew you would never give up until you found a way to get us back" he said as he let go of Castiel.
"I never did" said Castiel with a smile and a look on joy at seeing one of his best friends again.
"We never did" corrected Crowley with smirk.
Sam turned to notice Crowley for the first time. "Crowley?" he said.
"In the flesh luv, and you're welcome by the way for helping your angel buddy here find dear mummy and making her release you from the drawing world" he said in a witty tone.
"You helped to get us back?" Sam asked still curious that Crowley would help them after everything that went down the last time plus he had been missing since the hold Darkness thing.
"Yes, he did, I summoned him for his help to find Rowena, I couldn't do it alone and he brought some extra help to locate and trap her and we did" said Castiel.
Sam then turned to Rowena acknowledging her too for the first time since arriving back as he saw that she had some big steel chain neck shackle around her neck with Crowley holding the long chain. She just glared at him with a calm smirk as if nothing had happened.
"Well, Sammy it's good to have you back, aren't you going to thank me for getting you out of that painting were you two were trapped for eternity" she said smugly.
"The only thing I'm going to do is demand you tell me what you did to my brother!" cried out Sam as he was about to walk up to her before Castiel came up and pulled him back.
"Sam, it's okay we will get Dean back I promise you that. The only thing that matters right this moment is that we got you back you and Gwen" replied Castiel still in his emotions.
While all of this was happening Gwen and Madame Bess still expressing their joy at seeing one another again after so all this time.
"My child, when I saw that witch blast you to wherever, I was so scared out of my wits, I didn't know what she done to you or where she sent you or if I would ever see you again" she said to her granddaughter as she had both her hands on Gwen's face and tears smeared on hers.
"Same here, I was scared at first that I would never see you again either or what Rowena had done to you but I was fine we both were fine" she said turning to Sam.
"I still can't believe she trapped you two inside one of my paintings" said Madame Bess.
"Yes, but we were both okay, we were safe. I worried we would never get out at first, but Sam always assured me we would someday and here we are. I felt so safe with him there with me" she said turning to Sam again who glared at her as they both smiled at the other for a moment.
Madame Bess turned to Sam and finally rushed up to him.
"Yes, I'm glad to see you too young man" she told him as she gave him a hug too and he hugged her back.
"Same here ma'am" said Sam.
The two let go of each other as she still faced him.
"I'm glad at least if she had to be trapped with someone it was you" she told him and she meant it.
"Thank you ma'am and I'm glad you're okay too" said Sam.
While Madame Bess was confronting Sam, Gwen greeted Adam.
"And you must be Adam, Sam and Dean's little brother. I know we never met but Sam told me a lot about you that I feel like I know you already" she said as she walked up to him and gave him a little hug as a greeting.
Adam just looked a bit awkward. "Well, he's told me a bit about you too. So, you're a psychic too just like your grandmother huh?" Adam replied as he didn't know too much what to say.
Gwen let go and just nodded friendly.
"Yes, I'm sure you're glad to see you brother again now Sam's back we'll get Dean and Ava back as well don't you worry" she told him as her hands were placed on both is shoulders.
"I'm not at least not anymore" Adam said.
Madame Bess was now greeting and hugging Castiel and Crowley who had been mostly silent during this reunion finally spoke up.
"Alright, alright everybody is glad to see everybody, group hug and all and as much as I'm getting sappy over this little family reunion, just to remind you'll that we're not done. Now that we got back one half of the dynamic duo, time to get the other half back" he said in a loud voice.
Sam suddenly looked real serious forgetting about his joy of being back and seeing all of his friends again.
"That's right, we need to get Dean and Ava, where the hell did Rowena send them anyway?" asked Sam.
"To the Underworld" said Castiel.
"The what?" asked Sam confused.
"Rowena said she sent Dean and Ava to the Underworld where they've been trapped all this time" Castiel told him.
"The Underworld, meaning from the Greek mythology?" asked Sam taking all of this in.
"Yes, I'm afraid so Sammy dear, mummy sent your big bro and his little girlfriend to the land of the dead, in Hades and all and yes it exactly exists just like hell" said Crowley still in his witty tone.
"What, Dean and Ava are actually in the Underworld?" asked Gwen also looking bewildered.
"How much is this hard to process" said Crowley a bit impatiently.
"Crowley" cried out Castiel turning and giving him an annoyed look.
Then he turned back to Sam.
"Sam we need to talk and I will tell you everything" he told him.
