The story takes place right after the season 10 finale, after Dean killed Death, the Mark of Cain was removed and Darkness was released into the world. I mentioned before, new characters will be added and thrown in the story and I will bring back several former characters from the show in the upcoming future.
Chapter 111 Good Time To Just Have Fun
The next morning, Dean, Sam and Adam were up already in the kitchen having their breakfast. Dean ate the usual while Sam and Adam had scrambled eggs that Adam fixed and a sausage. Charlie still wasn't up as she slept in since they all stayed up quite late last night and none of the guys decided to wake her letting her get her rest. They weren't sure what she would like so they didn't fix anything for her but would wait until she got up and if she wanted some eggs and sausage too Sam would fix it for her or she could just have whatever she wanted.
"Boy last night was great, it felt like something we hadn't had in long time" said Dean who was finishing up his meal. Dean and Adam were already finished with their food and both nodded in agreement.
"Yeah, that's because the whole gang, was here with Castiel, Ava, Gwen, Madame Bess and Charlie. They were all here having a family- like meal together. And that's what it felt like, family. And now with Charlie back here with us, it almost feels like our family is compete" said Sam.
"Yeah, I second that, that Charlie seems cool, we're both gamers and she even promised we will be gaming together sometime in the future and she also can play chess" said Adam.
"I'm just happy we got her back in our lives even if that bitch Rowena did have her the whole time, it doesn't matter now just that we don't lose her ever again" said Dean.
"Are you guys talking about me?" said a voice.
The guys all turned to see Charlie standing there just having come down is now dressed wearing a nice dark blue long-sleeve blouse and black jeans with smile on her face.
"We thought you were still asleep" said Sam.
Charlie nodded her head.
"Yeah, I was but got up not too long and ago, took a nice long shower to wake myself up" she said.
The guys had already showed her where the bathroom with the shower was just before leading her to her bedroom so she would know where it was the next morning.
"Well, we're glad you're up kiddo, hope you had a nice rest" said Dean.
"I did" Charlie replied and walked over to where they were.
"What's for breakfast?" she asked them.
"Well, me and Adam got eggs and a sausage if you like that we fix it for you" said Sam.
Charlie just sighed.
"I'll just have some toast and a sausage and a cup of coffee" she replied.
"Your wish is our command" said Sam sarcastically and he was prepared to get up and fix it for her but Charlie stopped him.
"No, don't bother Sam, I fix my own toast and sausage just show just show me where everything is" she said.
"Okay" replied Sam.
Sam led Charlie to the refrigerator and showed her where everything that she wanted was, then watched her as she put the bread in the toaster, cooked a sausage in the pan on the stove and poured a cup of the coffee and in between time they all chatted.
"You know, I feel like doing something today, rather than be cooped up here all day" she said to the guys while eating her breakfast.
"Yeah, you have the right idea, I get tired too of being cooped up in this mausoleum all the time" replied Adam.
"Hey, this place has many things to do, it has it's own shooting range, a library of books, a pool table, this place is like our own personal amusement park" replied Dean.
"Yeah, but sometimes you just need to get outside and do something fun, get some fresh air and now with the Darkness gone and I'm back here with you guys and free from Rowena, I'm ready to finally do something fun" said Charlie with glee.
"I second that, I try to get these guys to get out of this place more often and able to succeed sometimes but I guess it's hard to keep up in their old age and all" said Adam teasingly.
"Old age, what old age" replied Dean mockingly offended.
"Yeah, me and Dean may not be youngsters anymore but we're hardly wrinkled and grey yet" replied Sam.
"Okay then prove it, like Charlie said lets all go out and do something today. You guys told me about all the fun things you two did when you weren't hunting, I mean back in your youth and all" said Adam teasing again.
"Okay that's it, you're on, we can find something to do today" said Dean, who was getting a bit annoyed by Adam's remark even though he knew he knew his youngest brother was goading him.
"We will, but what Dean?" asked Sam a bit bothered that he didn't get a vote in this.
"Yay, let's paint this town red already" said Charlie excited by the thought of getting out of the bunker.
"I don't know, we can go to the nearby bar and play pool or go fishing or something" said Dean.
"I vote we play pool. I don't think I'm up to fishing today" said Adam.
"Yeah same here, I mean I don't have any fishing gear or anything" said Charlie.
Dean then turned to Sam. "What about you are you up for this?" he asked his brother.
"Well, now that you are finally including me yes, I'm game" said Sam.
"Hey, maybe call up Castiel your angel pal and the whole gang is set" said Charlie still excited.
"Well, I don't think Castiel is up for it, playing pool isn't his thing" said Dean.
"Okay it will just be us four" said Charlie still smiling.
"Cool with me" said Adam.
Then Charlie's smile changed a bit as she looked both at Dean and Sam. "You know, I wondered if you two haven't giving those two chicks a call, you know just to let them know if they're okay?" she asked him.
Both Dean and Sam glared at her a bit surprised.
"Uh, what makes you say that?" asked Dean before Sam had a chance to.
"Well, you know I just figure you want to, come on I know those girls have to be still on your mind especially after what I saw last night" she said.
"Come on, Charlie, by now Ava is probably back on the road again heading home to Colorado, she doesn't need me to check up on her like some clingy boyfriend" said Dean.
"Yes, and Gwen and her grandmother have been through a lot, they can use some space to readjust now that they're safely back home, I don't want to bother her just yet" said Sam.
"Oh, come off the BS, you guys aren't fooling me, I know you want to talk to them again, you're just avoiding it like you're afraid of something" she told them.
"Hey, look Charlie, we just don't want to do anything right now, so much happened we can all use some space, it doesn't mean we will just avoid them but it's for us to work out" Sam explained not too comfortable talking about Gwen this morning.
"Yeah, whatever he says" Dean added.
Charlie just kept glaring at them back and forth and wasn't too convinced but she didn't want to push it as she could see they are not in the mood to talk about it this morning maybe she can bring up again after they get back from their outing.
"Okay, okay bitches, I'll back off for now, but I still say you two are being a bit chicken in talking to your girlfriends" she said.
"They are not our girlfriends" corrected Dean awkwardly.
"Whatever you say Dean" Charlie said with a smirking look on her face showing she is not convinced.
"Yeah, whatever she says" Adam added.
"Shut up" both Dean and Sam told him.
After Charlie had finished up her breakfast, all four of them continued to just hang around and chat but nobody brought up Ava and Gwen again. Sometime later, Adam and Charlie decided to play another game of chess while Dean and Sam decided to just leave them to it and sat down to talk each other some more.
"You know Charlie is right, we don't want to admit it but neither of us hasn't stopped thinking about them, Ava and Gwen that is" Sam told him seriously.
"Not you too Sam, look I wasn't up to going over it with Charlie and now with you" said Dean who wanted to avoid the discussion altogether.
"But we can't avoid this forever, so we might as well talk about it Dean. I know I need to get this off my chest" said Sam.
"Well, I'm not you Sam, don't need to get any thing off my chest" Dean replied a bit defensive.
"I miss her, there I said it's only been a day and I miss Gwen and last night I had trouble getting to sleep because I couldn't stop thinking about her and the time we had trapped in her grandmother's painting" he told Dean.
"Yeah, that really was a not so forgettable experience, I still can't believe Rowena whisked the two of you off in some drawing like freaking Mary Poppins" Dean said with a smirk.
"Neither could I, we were both wondering how or when we would ever get out and see you all again. But it wasn't all bad Dean, me and Gwen really bonded in ways we never did before, I mean I confided in her details about my life I that I never did with anyone not even Jess" Sam said.
Dean just sighed with a look of empathy and understanding. "Yeah, same here with me and Ava, I mean being stuck in that scary place was no amusement park, at least you two had it easy. But we also got to bonding, telling each other more things about our lives, I mean we really bore our souls among other things" Dean replied with a look of longing.
Sam noticed and he couldn't help but ask him, "Dean did you and Ava, you know do the deed?"
Dean looked a bit awkward as he quickly turned to Dean. "What?" he asked in reflex as he was taking off guard.
"You know did you and Ava do it?" asked Sam again curiously.
Dean kind of shrugged his shoulders and gave his brother that look as if he was holding back something.
"Well, yeah we did on more than one occasion, I might say" he told his brother.
"Wow" replied Sam who didn't know what else to say.
"Hey, what about you and Gwen, did you two, you know?" Dean asked thinking it was Sam's turn to fess up.
Sam just nodded with an awkward look on his face. "Yeah, we did on more than one occasion" he said.
Dean just sighed again quite impressed. "Wow, this so ironic you know" he said.
"What do you mean ironic?" asked Sam.
"I mean that Rowena sends us both away to some wherever each paired with those chicks and we both end up getting some action and bearing ourselves to them I mean talk about deja vu" he replied.
Sam paused for a few seconds and thought about it but then spoke up again.
"But seriously Dean, we didn't just have action with some random chicks, we had sex with two women we have both bonded with and felt a connection to for a while now. I mean I remember how you and Ava were back when we were trapped in that parallel world and last night when how the two of you looked at each other when you said goodbye and that kiss. And it was the same with me and Gwen. Face it Dean, Ava and Gwen are more than just a brief fling, had we have with them is something far more" said Sam.
Dean just had a serious look on his face indicating he couldn't deny Sam's words but remained silent.
Sam then went on. "What did Ava want to talk to you about yesterday exactly last night?" he asked him.
Dean always knew this discussion would happen even though he didn't really want to open up about everything between him and Ava he knew he couldn't avoid it forever, so he decided to just get it off his chest already.
"Oh, just that felt what we had between us was something special and that she didn't want it to end and thought that we could possibly have a chance to make it work, no matter how crazy that sounds right?" Dean replied expecting Sam to agree with him.
"Why does it have to be so crazy?" Sam asked which kind of surprised Dean who turned to face him.
"Come on, Sam, its not that I can just call her up everyday and ask her out to a dinner or a movie" he replied.
"I know that but what exactly did Ava say?" Sam asked.
"Well, she thought we could just get together once and a while and she could occasionally visit the bunker or hope that we get to do more cases together in the future, but face it Sam, our track record isn't exactly good, Ava won't want to just get together once in a blue moon forever, what if she wants something more permanent in the future" Dean replied.
"Well what if she does?" asked Sam. Dean eyes lit up as he couldn't believe what Sam was saying as they both had long giving up the idea of them ever having any romantic relationships. That was something that didn't fit in their lives.
"Did you just serious ask me that, Sam, you know damn well we don't do relationships that just doesn't work for us, and maybe it wasn't meant to for guys like us" he said.
"So, what did you tell Ava, because from that kiss she gave you, I suspect it wasn't a goodbye forever" said Sam.
"I kind of didn't really give her an answer, I just told her I think about it but couldn't make any promises and she told me she wasn't giving up any chance for us that easily and she hoped I see it her way that we are meant for each other" said Dean.
"Oh, so what are you going to do, you can't just avoid her and keep her hanging" said Sam.
"I know that but I guess I don't really know what to say, I know I should tell her that there is no chance but when I with her or hear her voice, something in me just stops and can't go through with it" Dean said.
Sam just sighed and kind of shook his head. "Yeah, I get it" he told him.
"Really, well what about you and Gwen, what did you two discuss, although I figure it was the same thing huh" Dean said now his turn to be curious.
Sam nodded his head. "Yeah pretty much. "But just like with you and Ava, I felt it wouldn't be enough for us just to get together occasionally, sometime in the future we would want something permanent and that would complicate things. But she took it even further and suggested if that time came, then she would be willing to move down here in Lebanon if that what it took" he told him.
Dean's eyes really lit up now. "Gwen said she would move down here in town?" he asked taken a bit aback.
"Yeah, that what she said if that's what it takes to be together, she would be willing to leave her home and her grandmother so she can live in town and be closer to me so we can have a better relationship" Sam told him.
Dean still looked amazed by what he just heard. "Woah, well what did you say about that?" he asked him.
"Of course I don't want her to leave her home, and grandmother since she seems to be only close family she has but she said she never expected to live with her grandmother forever anyway, and that her grandmother would want her to be happy and find love with the right man even if that meant leaving place she grew up in" Sam explained.
"Oh boy, that's a bit much" Dean said.
"You're telling me" Sam said.
"Well what did you tell her?" Dean asked.
"Basically, the same as you, we agreed not to make a quick decision although I can't make any promises I did promise her I would think it over more and consider it. Either way she told me she is not giving up the idea, would even move here down here sooner if to convince me" Sam told him.
"Hey, well you can't avoid her either, you know, you got to tell her it's either over or it isn't" Dean reminded him.
"I know that Dean, but I'm in the same pickle as you, I know I should tell her there is no chance for us but I just couldn't when I was with her last night and looked in her eyes and hear her voice, something in me just stops dead in my tracks" Sam explained.
Both of them were silent for a few seconds as they both stared ahead with the same sad expression on their faces.
"Boy, oh boy, look at us, Sammy, both of us have the same girl trouble, never thought that would ever happen" Dean said.
"Neither did I, did Ava ever say she would move down here?' Sam asked.
Dean shook his head a bit.
"No, but it wouldn't surprise me if she did. You know as I'm thinking about it, it doesn't sound so bad with them here in town" Dean said.
"Dean..."Sam replied but Dean cut him off.
"I'm serious, having them around right here in this hick town doesn't sound all bad" he told him.
Sam took the time to think about it and couldn't help but agree even though he wanted to be realistic and didn't think it would be a good idea in the long haul.
"Still, Dean we have to be realist on this one" Sam said.
"You always have to be the realist Sam, that's your problem" Dean replied.
"Well one of us has to be, we got to figure out how to resolve this Dean" said Sam.
Before he had a chance to finish, he was interrupted.
"Hey, guys what are all you talking about?" asked Charlie.
The brothers looked up to see Charlie and Adam now in the room looking right at them with smirks on their faces.
"Oh nothing guys, nothing important" Dean lied not wanting to discuss with them about the women again.
"Yeah, it was no big deal" Sam agreed.
But Charlie and Adam didn't look convinced. Charlie just smirked again. "Hmmh, you know Adam I think their holding out on us. Bet they were talking about something they don't want us to hear" she said to him.
"Yeah, I think that's exactly what it is" replied Adam also smirking.
"Hey, knock it off you two" replied Dean smirking along with them.
"Besides, me and Sam have decided where we should all go today" he told them.
"We did?" asked Sam a bit curious.
Dean just have him an annoyed look for not playing along and Sam caught on.
"Oh yeah, we did, in fact we think we should all head out right now" Sam told them.
"You have, where in fact are we going?" asked Charlie.
"We think we should head out to the bar right here in town where we can play pool or shoots some darts, then we can just go on a nice joy ride out of town afterwards, just drive around for while" said Dean.
"But we never went to the local bar when we went out guys" Adam replied.
"That's because with the Darkness and all, the bar here was often full of chaos, with brawls, somebody pulling a knife or gun, the police had to be called a lot over something. I mean whenever we went into town for anything, there was almost always a commotion, store owners were packing rifles at work to stop customers from getting out of order. I mean with the bars outside of town, was a bit less destructive then these small towners. But now with Darkness is gone, things probably cooled down a bit" replied Dean.
"Yeah, I remember, seeing some of the chaos whenever we out of the bunker, makes me much more relieved Darkness is gone and things are least back to normal some. I mean hadn't seen much trouble since daylight was back whenever I left the bunker and walked into town for something" Adam said.
"Well, I for one can also can't wait to get out of this place even more now, so lets go bitches" replied Charlie with a smile.
Within ten minutes, all four of the gang were in the Impaler in the garage driving out of the bunker. They drove into town to the local bar and as they predicted the bar wasn't at all chaotic like before. In fact, it was quite calm. They saw a few familiar faces they seen when they visited the bar in the past. The regular bartender who name is Reese also remembered them as customers who had occasionally come into the bar greeted them friendly.
"Hey, you two, I haven't seen in guys in here for a while now" where have you all been?" he asked them.
"Well, Reese, we're sorry we haven't come in an a long while but with that strange incident of the daylight vanishing and the sky being dark all the time, we heard about all the chaos that was happening here around town including in here, and it just made us real uneasy, so we decided we should just lay low for a while at least until the chaos cooled down and now that daylight is back and all which is a miracle, we felt it was safe to come back now" Dean said.
"Yeah, I mean it was quite scary during those times, and everybody is still reeling from it. It's been the talk of the whole town now. Nobody understands how it all happened and why" said Reese.
"Yeah, I know man, I guess it's one big mystery, and a real miracle, something of a biblical story" Dean said.
"I know, my old friend Hunter who is bit religious believes God may have been mad at us all because we took the planet for granted so he took the daylight away until to teach us a lesson until we got our shit together" said Reese.
"Who knows, man, anything is possible" replied Dean.
"True, but of course many fools just used it as an excuse to go crazy and cause hell and perhaps God saw how so much out of control things got that he brought daylight back to bring order back again but it showed all our true nature. Hunter believes God may have been testing us for sure" Reese went on.
"Hey, only God only knows, no pun intended" Dean replied as Sam just rolled his eyes.
"Well anyway things have cooled down a bit, I don't have to worry about grabbing my rifle every few minutes and looking over my shoulder, some of my other regular customers started returning too. I see you guys brought a couple of friends with you as well" said Reese noticing Adam and Charlie.
"Oh, this is our little brother Adam, who's come up to stay with us and this is an old friend of ours who's also staying with us too as long as she likes" said Sam introducing Adam and Charlie to the bartender.
"Cool, well what can I get you guys?" asked Reese.
"Just the usual Reese" said Dean.
"Oh, I'll have a beer" said Charlie. "Me too" said Adam.
"Okay then, coming up" said Reese.
Soon they were all at a table drinking their drinks and eating snacks that they also ordered.
Later on, after they finished, the group went to the pool tables and played a game of pool for about over an hour.
Then Charlie decided she wanted to play a game of darts which she did, and she and Adam even competed against each other, Charlie won. Then the gang had enough and decided to leave the bar and went on a little joy ride, driving around the small town and then out of town, although they weren't any interesting places to go in the small towns. They then drove out of the county to a bigger city, and Charlie managed to talk the guys into going to an arcade and playing on the video games despite their reluctance on taking part of a childish activity but she strong armed then into it and soon enough they were all enjoying themselves on the video games with child-like enthusiasm along with the kids there.
They also stopped by the supermarket to get some more food especially for dinner before heading back to the bunker. By the evening, they had their meal and then Charlie and Adam decided to play some chess which this time Adam won although Charlie teased that he let him win. They later sat and watch some television and talked some. Charlie suggested they go fishing the next day and they all seemed willing as Dean and Sam had to admit they had a great time with the four of them. Before they all knew it, it got very late and was time for bed so they all decided to retire.
"You know guys, I had a great time, it was awesome hanging out with all of you" she told them.
"Same, here Charlie, we enjoyed every moment of it too" said Dean.
"We got definitely have to go fishing tomorrow, I hadn't had so much fun in a long time and to spend it with you guys again." she said.
"We understand, and the same goes for us" said Sam. "
Yeah, that goes for me too even though we never knew it each other before, you're pretty cool, Charlie" said Adam.
"You too there kiddo" replied Charlie using Dean's old phrase. "Well, night bitches, see you in the morning" she told them.
"Same here Charlie" Sam told her.
Charlie headed to her bedroom and after she was gone Adam turned to the guys. "You know, the thing I never get is why does she keep referring to us as bitches?" he asked them curiously.
"Uh, we explain later" was all Dean said.
"Yeah, well, I guess I'll retire too, so see ya" he said and soon he too headed up to his room.
Dean and Sam were the only two left. And they turned to each other.
"You know, this really was the best day I ever had in a long while with Charlie back and all" said Dean.
"I know, I haven't realized this is the first time we could just relax and enjoy ourselves with Darkness is gone and Charlie is back, it can never get any better than this" Sam said.
"Well, we better get some shut eye, tomorrow we're going fishing" Dean said.
"Yeah, Charlie sure is energetic since being back, but I guess she just wants to make up for lost time being Rowena's slave" said Sam.
"Well let's just indulge, she deserves it after everything she's been through and so do we" said Dean.
"I know, and I'm looking forward to it, really before we wind up with another case" said Sam.
"Yeah, well night Sam, I heading up" Dean told him.
"Same here" said Sam.
Then the two brothers also headed upstairs to their rooms to get a nice good night sleep.
