The story takes place right after the season 10 finale, after Dean killed Death, the Mark of Cain was removed and Darkness was released into the world. I mentioned before, new characters will be added and thrown in the story and I will bring back several former characters from the show in the upcoming future.
Chapter 120 The Long Train Ride
The very next morning after breakfast, Sam called Gwen right away to finally tell her that he also wants to continue seeing her and that he is coming up to St. Paul to visit her likely the next day and that he will let her know when he's coming. They continued to talk for about another half an hour then said their goodbyes since Sam needed to get train tickets for his trip. He went online on his laptop to purchase the e-tickets at the train station in Newton, where he would be sent the e-tickets via email and then print them out which beat buying them at the station or getting them sent by the regular mail.
"So, you're really doing this?" asked Dean as he stood over Sam while he was on the laptop.
"Yeah, Dean, I told you I was and if I'm lucky I could get catch the train tomorrow" Sam told him not looking up from his laptop.
"Hey, you know Sam, we could just get Cas to come by and chauffeur you at your little girlfriend's house" Dean said with a smirk.
This time Sam did look up and turned to Dean.
"Nah, I don't want to bother Cas and have him be at our beck and call, unless its something really important like a case we're working on. Hey, if you don't feel like driving me out, I'll just catch the bus to Newton" he said.
"Hey, I didn't say anything about not wanting to take you. Of course, I'll drive you out there, I was just making a suggestion to make it easier for you. I have nothing special to do anyway accept hang out with the kids there, at least I it's a chance to get out of this bat cave for a while" Dean said.
"Thanks" said Sam who smiled.
Sam was able to order and receive the e-ticket emailed to him and printed it out with the printer they have. The e-ticket was for tomorrow morning and Sam planned to spend a week in St. Paul and reminded Dean to call him if there is a lead for another case which he would cut his trip short and Dean agreed.
"Just take as long as you like in the meantime Sammy there, and give me all the juicy details when you get back if you know what I mean" Dean replied with a smirk and quick wink and Sam just nudged him in a playful way with a little laugh.
Then he looked serious. "You know Dean, I still think you should go see Ava while I'm away or invite her to come here" Sam reminded him.
Dean expression changed to serious too. "I'll think about it Sam" was all he said.
"Fine just think about it please" Sam replied and dropped the subject.
Sam spent most of the day with the others as Adam and Charlie teased him a bit about his trip to see his new "girlfriend", but Sam just laughed it off. Later that evening after dinner, Sam prepared for his trip and he called Gwen again to let her know that he was coming by train tomorrow and won't get there until late at night. They talked for almost an hour as Gwen promised to show Sam around the city some more and about what she had been up to since last seeing each other until they said their goodbyes again. Sam then spent the remaining night hanging out with the others some more, then he and Dean retired for bed early as they had to get up very early next morning while Adam and Charlie stayed up a bit longer just hanging out. They both managed to get a good night sleep and got up very early the next morning. Both of them had a quick shower and got dressed and with Sam all packed they headed out the door in no time. Both Adam and Charlie were still in bed asleep, but Sam already said his goodbyes to them last night and Dean told him he would tell them goodbye for him again since he had to leave early and would be gone by the time they got up.
It was a real long drive to Newton and Sam ate some snacks he got out of the kitchen and a bottle of juice for his breakfast while on their way there. Once they finally arrived at the Newton train station, Dean walked him inside the building.
"I could wait with you if you want" Dean said.
"That's okay Dean, I'll be alright, you can head back if you like" Sam told him.
"Okay, just take care yourself and good luck up there" Dean said.
"You too Dean" said Sam as Dean gave Sam a friendly pat on the shoulder and headed off.
After Dean left, Sam eventually made his way out back in the waiting area which was outside near the train tracks as he waited among a small crowd of people. Sam took the time to take to call Gwen on his iphone to let her know he was at the statin and was on his way there. They didn't talk long before they said their goodbyes and as he waited for the train. The train finally arrived after waiting for a little over twenty minutes and when it stopped at the tracks, he picked up his belongings and entered the train. After finding his seat, he placed his belongings in the rack above and then just sat down. The conductor walked by checking for passengers, tickets and soon when he approached Sam, he showed him his e-ticket from his iphone which he already had out. Sam continued to wait for a while when the train eventually started moving. He just sat there and relaxed listening to good music on his iphone with the headphones now in his ear. He was relieved he didn't have to sit next to anybody and had the seats to himself as he wanted his own space although, although there was a chubby woman sitting across from him talking a bit loudly on her iphone but Sam paid her no attention.
The ride on the train was extremely long and quite tedious at times, and Sam spent the entire time either listening to music on his smart phone or surfing the internet, reading a book that he brought with him or sleeping. He even phoned Dean just to check up on him and the others and they were all doing fine from what Dean told him. Adam and Charlie were researching on the latest lores on creatures and pagan gods to amuse themselves and Dean was just passing the time watching his porn DVDs. After ending their conversation, he thought about phoning up Gwen too but he decided against that as he rather just talk to her in person plus he was still quite tired and decided to get some more rest. Sometimes, he was disturbed by the chubby woman across from him by her snoring when she dozed off which bothered him a bit, but he managed to go back to sleep himself. The only time he ever got up was to either use the restroom or during meal times at the dining car where he ate lunch and then dinner as the food was quite good and he had nice full meals. The train ride felt like forever when he was woken up by the voice over the voice speaker announcing their arrival in St. Paul.
Sam wiped his sleeping eyes a bit and sat up a little in his seat then looked outside to see it was real dark outside. He checked his watch and saw that it was really late at night as it had been a very long trip. When the train finally stopped, Sam got up and got his baggage from the rack above and managed to squeeze his way into the corridor which was crowded by other passengers lining up to get off. Sam soon found his way off the train outside into the dark night. He went inside the train station which was bit crowded despite how late it was. He to sit down on a bench next to a couple sitting nearby and a guy talking on his iphone but Sam didn't care. On his smart phone, he checked the number for the local cab on the internet and then dialed the number to get a ride to a cheap motel that he also researched. He decided this time not to stay at Gwen and Madame Bess's home since he didn't know how comfortable Madame Bess would be with him under the same roof as Gwen knowing there are now romantically seeing each other since the last time he stayed there he could since her weariness of their attraction with each other. He felt she might be possibly concerned over what could happen under her roof, so it was just better to stay at a motel this time while he's in the city.
After getting off his phone, Sam left the front entrance of the train station and waited outside the area for his cab. He waited a little over fifteen minutes for the cab to come which by that time it was a little after 11:00. He got into the cab and they drove off into the busy street while the friendly driver tried to chat him up even though Sam wasn't in the mood for conversation he listened to him and engaged as much as he could. The cab arrived at the motel and Sam paid his fare and got out then headed to the motel which was an all-nighter. After checking in a room from the night desk clerk, he entered his room placed hall his luggage on the floor and just flopped in his bed. It was too late to call Gwen now as she was likely in bed or headed to bed and he didn't want to disturb her at this time and the same went for Dean back home, besides he was quite pooped himself after that long train ride then the cab ride. He did get up to turn on the TV and watch some news while he just undressed down to his boxers got into bed into bed and watch some more TV until it was getting close to midnight so he flipped it off with the remote control turned out the lamp and got some sleep.
I know this was very short chapter, the others will be longer, I only have several more chapters to post and a few more to write before the end. Hope you continue to enjoy.
