Amity sat with her eyes fixated on the brunette ahead of her, completely missing the professor calling her to the board. It wasn't until Boscha threw a ball of paper at her head that she was finally able to come back to reality.

"Miss Blight? Can you please come up here with your abomination and show the class how to properly create a second one within itself?"

Amity nodded, a bit flustered having been caught off guard but walked to the front. Facing her classmates, she began to summon her abomination and do the second summoning spell when her eyes finally got to Luz's face. Ever since Luz had started school, she always smiled and gave Amity encouraging human hand signs for support when she had to stand in front of a crowd. Today, however, Luz wasn't even looking at her. Her eyes were looking down at her desk and her hair was messier than the usual.

"Miss Blight, the assignment was to create a second abomination, not turn it into one of your classmates! Please take a seat and be prepared by next class."

Amity's face turned a bright red when she noticed her abomination had taken the form of Luz without her even realizing it. Seeing the dark faceless version of her crush reminded her of Grom and after not getting Luz's usual positive energy, a heavy feeling sunk in her chest. Did she do something wrong? Was Luz mad at her? What if she had noticed the folded corner she made on her Azura book?! Amity's brain was on fire as she came up with every possible scenario in which Luz ended up hating her and never speaking to her again. As these thoughts polluted her mind, the brunette turned around and gave her a weak smile.

"Don't worry Amity, I'm sure you'll do great by next class, you always do!" Luz's voice was cheery but her eyes looked dull and actually perhaps a bit red. Had she been crying? While Amity's worries faded back into the vault in her head, new ones began to replace them.

"Luz, are you okay?" she asked once class was over and everyone began to walk out. Luz didn't get up from her chair and she didn't answer Amity's question. As she put a hand on Luz's shoulder, the human girl jumped and looked at Amity with wild eyes. Amity could now fully see the bags under her eyes and the swelling that came from a night of crying. "What's wrong?" she asked a bit more direct this time. Luz tried to wave it off and gave another weak smile. Before Amity could say anything else, Luz was already walking away to her next class.

The last class of the day was one Amity got to share with Luz again. Today they were learning dream casting and controlling. The professor had asked the students to pair up so they could work together after class and monitor their dreams. Without a trace of the weird energy she had been giving off before, Luz rushed to Amity and grabbed her by the arm.

"Hey-yo partner. Ready to get your dream on?" Amity smiled as she saw her usual Luz come back before realizing their arms were locked together. Without thinking, she pushed Luz's arm away and crossed her own against her chest.

"Uh yeah, Luz! Sorry, you just surprised me, haha, partner. What a funny word. Buddy, pal…partner. Yup, that's us."

Amity could feel drops of sweat starting to form on her forehead as Luz stared at her for a few seconds. Willow saw this from her desk and decided to give Amity a break for once. Kinda.

"Hey Luz and Amity! Sooo, you guys are uh partners now? I mean for the assignment of course." Willow smiled innocently and made small talk with Luz as she gave Amity a look. She was planning something. "I was thinking, since I'm going to be partnering with Skara and she's friends with Amity already, why don't we have a sleepover? It'll be a great way for all of us to hang out a bit more together and do homework at the same time!" Amity's face went blank as she thought of what sleeping over at the owl house would be like. Her and Luz talking about the last Azura chapters. Her and Luz eating cookies while King and Hooty tried to fight for their attention. Her and Luz teaming up to defeat Willow and Skara in a pillow fight. Her and Luz sharing a blanket while they watched something on Luz's human box. Her and Luz.

"Sounds great! Don't you agree Amity?" Luz asked with a smile. She swallowed her gay thoughts and panic to give her friend the most casual smile she could give back. "Yeah, that a great idea! Thanks for suggesting it Willow!" her eyes threw a dagger at the young witch. She had just put her in both her favorite dream and worst possible nightmare.
