Welcome to the world

It was a cold night in October. William sat in a meeting with the council as usual, discussing a group of shadowhuntes going against the Clave. They want all downworlders gone, as they are a threat to humans. The group has become more threatening the past year and are blaming William for bad leadership for protecting downworlders (Downworlder is the widely used term to refer to beings that are said to be part human and part demon, such as werewolves, vampires/vampaneze, warlocks and faeries). After many hours of discussing on what to do, Ervin (how are the consul (the top leader) and also Williams's father) told William to go and check on his wife. His new baby have been born.

William rushes home to his Family. When he opens the door he saw his older son Jack sitting on the couch, not too happy about the newest member. And how could blame him? It is not fun to get a new sibling when you are 14 years older. William ignored his oldest and went to check on his wife and his new child.

"It is a boy" Olivia said and looked down on her sleeping baby. "What should we call him" she asked and looked at William. After thinking, he called on Jack. "What" Jack questioned as he reach the bedroom. "What should we call you little brother" William Asked and saw his sons eyes lighting up. Jack mumbled to himself "what about Darren". "Darren" "Darren Shan" I love it, his father said and gave him a big hug. William guided his son to his mother and new little brother. Jack looked at him questioning. "Do you want to hold him" his mother asked him and gave the baby to jack. "I guess you are not as bad as I thought" jack said and hold his brother tightly.

A few days went, and the family had a lot to get used too. Jack was busy training to become the best shadow hunter in the world. His biggest role model was his grandpa Ervin, he wanted to become just as good leader as his grandpa and father, but first he had a lot to learn. Before he could become a leader, he had to fight demons and protect the humans. While he was training with his sword outside the house, he saw grandpa coming. He run to his grandpa and jumped into his arms. "Why are you coming so rarely now" jack asked. "You know why jack" Ervin said and put Jack down. "There are a lot going on at the moment, but how's your training going" Ervin asked and looked down on his grandson. "Amazing, Look at what dad taught me" and proudly showed a move with the sword. "Very good, now what is a shadow hunter's job on this planet" Ervin questioned to see if jack have been listening in school. "To fight, and someday end, the plague of demons on Earth. We are dispatched to every place on Earth to fight against demons, Shadow hunters have also placed the responsibility of upholding the peace and secrecy of the Shadow World, as well as the protection of the mundanes (humans) and the world in general from the supernatural" Jack said and looked up at his grandfather. "Very good my young one, you will become a great shadow hunter and one day a great leader just like your father" Ervin said with pride. "But I came to see your little brother, will you lead the way" Ervin asked and Jack took his hand and guided him to his mother and father.

The next day Darren was to be presented to the people as all children from highly respected leaders was. Hibernius Tall was the one to present the newborn child. He raised the child so everyone could see him. Many Shadow hunters had come to Alicante who was the capital and only city in Idris. Idris is the homeland of the Shadowhunters and is protected by the demon towers, forcing demons out and protecting the city.

Idris is in Central Europe. It is a small country between Germany and France, with protective spells and warding's all around, all over the borders, preventing mundanes from entering. When they attempt to cross the border into Idris, they are simply transported into the next border without noticing. Idris is mostly forest and mountains, littered with vampires and werewolf packs.

Years went by and Darren grow stronger and smarter every day. William have already started to teach his young son to fight and using sword, although he was only four. "You are never too young to learn" was something he always said to Olivia, as she was scared that Darren would be hurt. One thing Darren loved was to be with his grandfather, but he was barely seeing him now. The group of shadow hunters that wanted to kill all downworlders have become more aggressive, so there was barely any time for him and grandpa. Darren was never out of sight, he could barely go outside and he never know why. Darren was so bored now, as his brother was just sent to a Institute in new York after he graduated the academy in Idris, and was now a worrier.

"Pleas, can we go out to the forest and have some fun, I'm bored," Darren begged to his mom while dad and grandpa was at the meetings. "You know we can't leave Darren, it's very dangerous outside," Olivia said thinking about what the group of Shadowhuntes have threatened to do on their youngest son. Darren stomped to his bedroom. "Mommy and Daddy had been worries; no one would hurt him if they know how his family was" Darren though and looked outside his window. He saw many flowers wanted to pick up. He opened the window and climbed out. He went further and further into the forest as he picked up one flower at time. He saw a shining light up on a hill, and he wanted to see what it was. As he reach to the top of the hill, he saw a mirror reflecting the sun.

Back home Olivia notice Darren's window was open, she shouted his name, but no answer. She immediately called William and started to track down her son. William and Ervin run to the back of the house and saw Olivia already went after Darren. They suddenly heard Darren's scream and run towards the sound. Ervin saw one of the attackers ready to shoot Darren with an arrow, bus he was faster. He shoot an arrow perfectly in his head, killing him immediately. William run to Darren to protect him from any other attackers. "This will not be the last time you see us, that boy is dead" one of the attackers said before they escaped. Ervin took up another arrow ready to shoot but they were out of reach. William Was kneeled down to his wife. Laying lifeless with an arrow to her heart. Sacrificed herself so her son would liv. Ervin picked up Darren how stood there in shock. He could not take his eyes away from her bloody body. He was shivering in fear and did not understand what was going on. A group of shadowhuntes came, to see if they could track down the attackers, some of them stood behind with William to help him. Ervin took his grandson back home and comforted him until he fell asleep. There was only one way he could keep his grandson safe, even if that meant he had to say goodbye to him forever. He started to cry, thinking about it, but it was the only way, at least for a while. He hold his grandson close, and know he had to talk to his son about what had to be done. It was the only way to keep him safe. He had to be given to a mundane family, atleast for a good while, till that group have been taking down once and for all…
