My first day of school of school was yesterday and I'm already dead inside. So in honor of it, I'm posting a fun chapter. I'm really excited about this chapter. It's actually the concept that inspired this entire story.

Well, On with the show...

Hazel and Piper were ready. The second Annabeth stepped into her room, they pounced. Earlier that week, they had gone dress shopping, and it was almost Spring Formal time. The unsuspecting blonde was ready before you could say Percy Jackson. It was knee length, and long sleeved. Cream colored with an assortment of leaves and flowers embroidered all over it.

Next it was Hazel with the makeup and hair.

Face was a little concealer, silver eye-shadow, and blush. Nothing too fancy. Her hair got put up in a braided crown around her head. Her friends also curled some of the loose strands. My hair's already curly, what the heck? Anyway she looked stunning.

"Okay now for the heels." Hazel spiraled towards her with a pair of white stilettos. "No way." Annabeth glared at her friend. "Not happening." "Yes." "No"

"Yes." After five minutes of convincing her i.e arguing. Hazel finally caved and she slipped on a comfortable pair of white sandals.

Once Piper and Hazel finished it was off to the dance.

Things happened much less eloquently in the boys dormitory. Jason, Frank, Leo, and Percy fumbled around the room. Pulling suit pieces from various places. (Somehow everyone ended up in Percy and Jason's dorm.) Frank accidentally ended up in Jason's pants, which left the room in hysterics. It took them several minutes to recover. Finally they were all in their (own) suits and dorky ties.

Percy's tie was blue with with porpoises on it ("They are NOT DOLPHINS VALDEZ!")

Leo's had flames and various fire-fighting supplies on it. While shopping, the boys had gotten it in honor of that time(s) he almost burned the kitchens down.

Frank's was a bright red and had blue paw prints.

Jason was the only one with a tie that said 'spring formal'. It was a bright yellow and had a black sunflower on the bottom. Off to the ball...

The gym was decorated with beautiful twinkle lights and flower garlands. Almost like something out of a cheesy romantic movie. There were lots of different snacks and drinks, and the music wasn't even cheesy. Definitely the least awkward dance they had been to.

When Annabeth walked down the steps into the decorated gymnasium, Percy was breathless. Her hair was shining in the light like spin gold. There was a sparkle on her eye and a spring on her step. He also noticed she was wearing a pair of sandals instead of heels like Hazel and Piper. How much convincing did that take?

Jason was staring at Piper, who was in a black floral dress and a side braid.

"You should ask her out," Percy whispered in his ear. Jason flushed scarlet but walked over to her. Not to ask her out but to 'talk'.

The second a song played that was even remotely romantic. Jason grabbed Piper. and Hazel pulled Frank off, leaving Annabeth and Percy by themselves with Leo. Who was off as soon as he saw the first attractive girl.

They watched as the rest of their friends retired to the dance floor. Percy stood awkwardly in front of Annabeth.

"Well, we should dance," She said, turning to him and pulling them onto the dance floor.

"UHhh Ok!" he replied.

They sucked. Truly. Percy kept stepping on Annabeth's toes- to the point where she started leading. Annabeth swore she heard Piper laughing from behind her. Still they spiraled clumsily around the dance floor'. It was perfect, in all it's sloppiness. Percy held her close and twirled her around. The couple was beaming brightly, and after a while they just swayed. With Annabeth's arms around Percy's neck and her head on his chest. Percy held her close.

But watching you stand alone

All of my doubt, suddenly goes away somehow

One step closer

Percy leans over and whispers in her ear. "Do you want to get out of here? She nods and they flee the ballroom together.

"Hurry up slowpoke!" Percy shouted from in front of her. Annabeth laughs as her dress flies behind her- they're running. Out of the ballroom and to the back of the school. The gardens are beautiful at night. With the trees casting shadows on every surface. In the distance you can hear the sound of laughter and music from the building behind them.

Suddenly Percy picks her up bridal style and starts running again. She laughs and slaps him lightly.

"Percy put me down!"

"Never!"

He finally sets her down on a rock in the center of the meadow, more like a clearing. A ring of trees shield them, and you can't even see the school. But she could slightly hear the sounds of the ball. She sees a speck of light. Fireflies. And suddenly the air is full of them. Like little stars. Annabeth tries to catch one and then Percy is helping too. Soon they're laughing and chasing around the little lightning bugs.

Their hands close around one, and inside a little bug glows. They open their palms and it flies away. Their faces are inches apart. All she had to do was lean over and kiss him. They were both leaning in…

"PERCY! ANNABETH!" Leo runs into the clearing and they jump apart. Percy's ears burned red and Annabeth had found a very interesting part of the grass to stare at. Leo, when he saw them, also turned a bright scarlet.

"Were you guys.. Oh gods. I'm so sorry! Piper was looking for you!" And he ran away. The pair turned towards each other

"I think we should…" Percy scratched the back of his neck.

"Yeah."

I have died everyday, waiting for you

Darling, don't be afraid, I have loved you for a thousand years

I'll love you for a thousand more.
