Finding Sly with the information Dimitri gave to Bentley was going to be a lot harder than what it sounded like. There were so many questions rolling though Bentley's head: what if the two guys were lying? What if Dimitri misheard? What if Le Paradox was lying? What if an ancient Egyptian artifact didn't come from the same time period Sly is located? Is Sly even alive? If Sly was found, would this severely break time? Most importantly, who was that creature and why does it want Sly? This question bothered Bentley the most, mostly because He had no idea if this creature was a friend or foe. But first, he needed to find out what, or who, it was.
Bentley sat in his wheelchair for a while with his head resting on his arm. "I have no idea what to do." He admitted to Dimitri, who was standing right in front of Bentley, listening. "I don't want to stick an Egyptian artifact in, and it end up being from the wrong era." He grew more frustrated as he went on. "I wish I would have just designed a time machine where you could manually input in the year and time you want to go to, but no I had to design this piece of junk…" Bentley swatted at the Cooper van with the giant clock sitting on top of it. He took a deep breath and started to calm down. "Okay, I wish I would've made a manual time machine instead of one you throw the artifacts from the time period. But I rushed, mainly because I wanted to impress…her"
Bentley remembered that little purple mouse, Penelope, just like as if he talked to her yesterday. He still didn't understand why she did what she did to him. He thought all this time she liked Sly. But if Bentley would have figured out sooner what her motives were, he would've at least stopped her.
Dimitri grew more sympathetic towards Bentley and reached over to put his hand on his shoulder. "Hey dude, it's okay." Dimitri wasn't really sure what to say to comfort the clearly depressed turtle. Instead, all he could do was just listen, even though that was the last thing he wanted to do.
Bentley sniffed. "I loved her…" After a few more minutes of diving into his pity party, Bentley quickly shook off his emotions, clearly changing his demeanor in what seemed like a millisecond. He sat up straighter in his chair. "But that's okay. I have so much to do I don't have time to think about her. I have a friend who needs me the most right now, and it is my duty to find him."
Dimitri smiled big when he heard this. "That's the spirit, turtle."
"How is that machine going, Ras?"
In a tiny little apartment stood a racoon that appeared to have a fox mixture in him, more a fox. He stood very small with no muscles to speak of. He had an abnormally large head for his size, but he made up for it with the crystal blue eyes he obtained. He wore a red sweatshirt with jeans and black Converse sneakers. To finish off the look he styled a blue baseball cap he wore on his head on a daily basis.
The apartment appeared to have been redesigned as a lab of some sort, but more of a child's science lab that would normally be filled with toy sets of microscopes and ant farms. The apartment had an oak wood flooring with a gray paint coating the entire wall. Two windows sat beside the flat screen television, overlooking the beautiful and bright Paris streets. The apartment only had two bedrooms, but they managed to make it work.
"You know how I feel about that nickname…"
"Fine." The creature who was talking to the small raccoon started to get irritated. It stomped its foot on the floor. "What do you want to be called, then?"
"My name…Rascal…"
"This suit is getting hot." The creature moved around the parts from the suit in an attempt to get cool air flowing through. "Can I take this hunk of metal off?"
Rascal looked back at it and smiled. "Okay, as long as you keep safe, though."
Bentley sat at his old white desk with a giant blueprint stretched across it. The desk was quite cluttered, filled with old pens and paperwork not one person would love to sort through. He tapped his pencil on his chin as he was thinking.
Once I find out what items were stolen, I can figure out what time period they may have belonged to. Bentley started writing. I need a way to figure out, however. Bentley reviewed his blueprints he had made just the other day how he would manage to find Le Paradox. I suppose I can try to befriend a cop or two so they can let me in on the paperwork Carmelita had constructed when the museum was robbed. To gain their trust, I need to at least talk to them quite a bit, and really sweet talk my way to get what I need. He frowned as he was thinking about this. Well, I wish Sly would be here, he could sweet talk his way out of any organization! "I have an idea!" Bentley shouted.
Dimitri turned his head from the tv show he had been watching on Bentley's brand new 4k flat screen tv. "What?"
"I'm going to dress as a cop and sweet talk the guards into getting me the files on Sly's disappearance. To gain their trust, I'm going to need a cop uniform, Dimitri."
"I got you covered, bro." Dimitri smiled. "I'm sure I have a cop uniform laying around in my costume box somewhere."
"Once I gained their trust, I'll review the case files Carmelita had created on Sly's disappearance. Only then will I find out how the museum's security works, since Carmelita was bound to have recorded it. Not to mention it'll probably contain the items that were missing from the museum when Sly went missing. This will narrow down our options to what time period Sly might be in." Bentley tapped his chin while he thought some more. "Dimitri, since you say you might have a police costume, I'll need to make good use out of it. I also need you to round up Murray, he will play a role in helping me make a getaway when I get into the museum when it closes."
