Better Together Chapter 14: "Stargazing"
GiddyReflections: Haha, I was thinking of throwing in a song too! XD
Also…I just totally forgot about my LPS fanfic…YIKES. So I'm updating that today as well as Nobody Listens.
"Aunt Daisy, I'm home!" June yelled. She had on a yellow backpack.
Home. That's a strange word.
The house had a pastel orange background with a white sofa in the corner. A table with rose-gold legs stood next to it, as well a small wooden shelf housing few books.
Daisy poked her head out from the doorway from the living room to the kitchen, "Great, just unpack your stuff and go upstairs! I need-"
"You need complete silence to work on the stupid clothing, so I need to get out of here and not disturb you." June grumbled, hearing that phrase way too many times.
She walked upstairs, gripping the railing with her right hand. The upstairs wall was a ridiculously bright purple color.
It basically looked like Barney had thrown up all over the wall. Daisy had said that they should have "enlightening colors" for this house, but it made the whole place look more like a kids' daycare center rather than an actual house.
She looked around the hallway and opened the door to the room she shared with her two sisters. A desk was in the corner, and a triple bunk-bed with orange sheets in the middle, purple sheets on top, and yellow sheets on the bottom was on the side of the room.
"Hey, you're here." April said, not looking up from her laptop. The 11 year-old brushed her bangs out of her face, staring intently at the screen.
May was sitting on the middle bunk, not paying June any mind whatsoever. She was focused solely on the tennis racket she was holding, making the ball on top of it bounce up and down, "20…21…22…23…24…25…"
June raised an eyebrow, "Ooooookay…I'm just gonna unpack in the corner." June unzipped her bag, taking out all of her books.
'Everything you need to know about fractions'
'Introduction to pi'
'How to solve for x'
As she took the last book out and started zipping up her backpack again, she spotted something on the very bottom of the inside. She stuck her hand inside and fished out a small piece of paper, immediately cramming it in her pocket.
"Oh second thought…I'm…gonna go." June laughed anxiously. She closed the door behind her and ran to the bathroom, slamming that door behind her as well. She looked around suspiciously as if something was watching her, then unfolded the note.
Meet me at the fields tonight.
-Louie
The sheet of paper crinkled in June's grasp, who sighed, carefully considering the action in her head. If she were, hypothetically, to sneak out, Daisy would murder her.
Eh.
- Time Skip, Louie-
Louie sat on the ground, staring at the night sky. The grass felt cool underneath his palms, which were supporting the rest of him upward.
Something moved next to him, "Louie?"
Louie flinched a little, not knowing how to respond, "J-June?" He stuttered, "What are you doing out here?!"
June narrowed her eyes, "Didn't you write me a note saying that you wanted me to come here?"
"No…"
June handed it to him, barely seeing the boy in the dark.
Louie squinted, "This is Huey's handwriting."
June rolled her eyes, "That explains it." She started to walk away, but Louie tugged on her arm.
"Don't go…just…just watch." He pulled her closer to him. June looked at the sky, watching the stars twinkle. There weren't many lights around here, making it the perfect spot for stargazing. She rested her head on his shoulder.
Louie sang:
(To the music of "Never Enough")
I want to hold my breath
I wish we could stay this way
This moment can't end
You set off something in me
Reality or dream, I would say dream
Can you feel it tonight?
Hold my hand,
Won't you share this moment with me?
'Cause June, without you
All the shine of a million lights,
All the stars in the night sky
Won't ever be enough,
Ever be enough
Bright rays of sunlight still are still too dull,
Oh
Towers reaching infinity, still too low
It won't
Ever be enough
Ever be enough
Ever be enough, ever
It won't,
It's not enough
Ever, ever
It's not enough
Ever, no
Ever be enough,
Ever be enough,
It won't
It won't
It won't
It won't ever be enough!"
June smiled, looking into his eyes. By the end of the song, both of them were blushing.
They watched the stars for a little while, laughing and pointing out weird shapes groups of stars made.
June's phone started ringing, "Oh! I need to go home. This was, um, fun."
Louie blinked, watching as she disappeared into the night.
Even if it wasn't for long, Louie still counted that one of the best moments in his life.
Don't forget to review, follow, and fav! :) ;D
