Just across town was a small-town home, much different than Carmelita's small apartment. It had two stories, three bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. The master bedroom was on the ground floor just across from the living room and the two other bedrooms were located upstairs, connected by a bathroom and a large multi-purpose room. Rascal sat in the living room, playing his PlayStation on the 4k HD tv.

The home was extremely modern. The walls were painted a light gray color and the couch was clean white and shaped more like a square. The glass table connected the living room and modern kitchen. There were a few modern paintings on the wall, but very simplistic. Daniel entered the modern home and spotted Rascal playing his PlayStation.

Daniel walked over to him and leaned forward to observe what he was playing. "I see you're playing Ratchet and Clank?"

Daniel flinched and paused the game. "Oh, yes, I'm sorry Daniel time got away from me."

Daniel smiled in understanding. "It's okay, it's not really late anyway. I know you've had a busy week. By the way, where is your sister? I haven't seen her all day."

Just as he said this, the front door swung open, revealing a lovely female raccoon in a fairly short pink dress. Her shoes were some serious pumps which seemed to be hurting her feet. She wore a silver necklace and a pearl bracelet. Her eyes were emerald green and her hair was black cut into a pixie style.

"Ah, Catherine, it's so good to see you baby."

Catherine smiled. "Same as you, Danny." She set her white purse onto the solid granite countertop and walked over to Daniel. She wrapped her short arms around his torso and kissed his cheek. "How was your day, sweetheart?"

Rascal made vomiting gestures towards the two lovebirds. Daniel laughed. "I've had a pretty good day, sunshine. I'm trying to figure out where Skylar is."

She paused. "Skylar is missing again?"

Rascal groaned. "She's not missing, Catherine. She just went out."

Catherine released Daniel and placed her hands on her hips. "She went out?"

"I'm sure she'll be back any…"

Interrupting Rascal entered none other than Skylar through a window behind the couch, shattering it. She tumbled onto the floor and slowly raised her head up, noticing the clearly angry Daniel and his girlfriend. "…Hey Daniel, hey Catherine."

Daniel looked at the shattered window and his eyes grew extremely large and angry. Angry wouldn't have been the best way to describe it, he was livid. "Skylar, I would consider myself an easy-going guy and I don't think I get upset easily but seriously? That window is going to cost me a fortune!"

Skylar pushed herself up from the steel coffee table. "Okay, sorry Daniel it was an accident."

Daniel twitched his eye. "I…whatever. That's not important now. What I really want to know is where have you been all day? I left at 6 AM this morning and I come back at 5 AM and you hadn't been home. What do you think your mother would have said? Also, why are you in that black suit carrying that helmet?"

Skylar blushed. "Well, you see…"

"She was the masked dude." Rascal interrupted.

Skylar looked at him with a death glare. "Yes, whatever. I used it because I'm trying to find Sly."

Daniel twitched his eye again. "You were the one terrorizing Le Paradox?"

Skylar gave a nervous smile.

Daniel wanted to slap her, but instead he tried to put himself into her shoes. She was hurting for some answers, which she deserved. Still, he worried sick about her. All he could remember was Carmelita meeting with him for lunch about a year ago. They had known each other for quite some time at this time.

Carmelita and Daniel sat at a local small pizza joint, eating some delicious pepperoni pizza with some wine. Carmelita wasn't really dressed fancy, just wearing a basic red t-shirt and jeans. Daniel wore his signature navy blue shirt and pants with his black gloves.

"Daniel, I wanted to ask you something."

Daniel leaned in closer to Carmelita to listen. "What would that be?"

Carmelita sighed. "Well, I'm not sure if Sly will ever return, you know?"

Daniel's eyes grew sad. "You think he might be missing forever?"

Carmelita didn't make eye contact. "I'm not sure, Daniel. But just in case, my job isn't always safe, you know?"

"Well, I guess enforcing the law on criminals isn't usually the safest thing to do…" he nervously laughed.

Carmelita giggled, but she didn't find the remark funny. "Daniel, if something happens to me, I want you to take care of Rascal and Skylar."

Daniel stopped laughing. His color rushed out of his body and his pupils dilated. "Carmelita, I don't think I would be the best person to take care of your kids."

She looked up at Daniel with pleading eyes. "You're the only one I trust, Danny. You're the closest thing to a father they have right now. I don't trust anyone else."

Daniel felt flattered, but he still wasn't sure if that was a good idea. He loved those kids more than he loved himself but taking care of them wasn't the best option in his head. He didn't exactly have a child friendly home and he was worried how Catherine might have reacted. Catherine wasn't the biggest fan of children, and the last thing he wanted to do was make her angry. Still, Carmelita trusted him, and that convinced him, regardless of how scared he was. Besides, the chances of her dying seemed low to him. She was Inspector Fox after all.

"I'll do it…" He said quietly.

Carmelita smiled. "Well, then it's settled. I hope nothing happens, but if something were to happen, keep an eye on Skylar. She is a Cooper after all. I don't want her to live a thieving life like her father."

Daniel smiled. "I'll do my best, Miss Fox."

Present Day

After Daniel's little flashback, his anger towards Skylar started to fade. She just wanted her father back, and Daniel couldn't blame her. As much as he wanted her safe, she was a Cooper, and she was going to live like a Cooper. "I just want you to be safe, Skylar." He told her.

"We just want Sly here." Rascal added. "Skylar has been trying to seek help for me to build our time machine so we can go get him."

Skylar blushed. "Yeah, Daniel. I actually met one of Sly's best friends. His name was Bentley, and he's a genius turtle."

Daniel half smiled. "You two confuse me sometimes. Penelope has been helping with the machine, Rascal. Has she not been helping lately?"

"I don't entirely trust Penelope." Rascal stated. "She keeps going on and on about not being a puppet or something. It weirds me out."

Catherine grinded her teeth. "Penelope?"

"Don't worry, Cathy, she's just helping us find my brother."

Catherine sighed. "Okay, I trust you."

"I talked to Bentley, Rascal." Skylar smiled.

Eagerly, Rascal sat up closer to her. "And?"

"He's going to help us!" She cheered.

Daniel raised an eyebrow. "Wait, why do we need Bentley's help? I thought Rascal was building the machine with Penelope."

Rascal sat back into the couch. "I'm pretty sure Bentley has the Thevious Raccoonus, Daniel."

"Okay, pause everyone." Daniel quietly shouted. "Who is Bentley? Why do we need his help, and especially why does he have the Thevious Racconus?"

"Bentley is Sly's best friend. Sly used to be part of a gang based on my research and what mom told us in the past. Bentley, I think was the 'brains' of the gang. I don't know why he has the book, but I'm pretty sure it's for a good reason." Rascal explained.

Catherine yawned in boredom. "Okay, I'm going to bed. My brain is about to explode." She leaned over and kissed Daniel. "Goodnight sunshine."

"Goodnight pumpkin." He responded.

As soon as Catherine shut the master bedroom door, Rascal continued. "Bentley has a time machine, but I can't use it. It requires a specific object from that time period to work."

"Well, regardless of what we need for the time machine, we need a plan for what we are going to do when we get to Sly."

Rascal cracked his fingers. "Well, my idea was to explain to Sly who we are and why he needs to return home."

Skylar looked at him and folded her arms. "And what makes you think he won't think we're lying?"

"Well you look just like him, Sky." Rascal argued.

"Okay, quite arguing." Daniel intervened. "Simply talking to him might freak him out, especially since he's been gone for so long. We will need to gain his trust, and I know just how to do it."

Rascal looked up at him. "And how would you do it?"

Daniel smiled. "Coopers will trust certain individuals who can prove themselves."

"Mom, dad, I'm home!"

A rather fit young male raccoon walked through the front door, clearly dirty from head to toe. He looked similar to his father but was much taller. He wore a navy-blue button up shirt with some dirty jeans and carried a blue cane similar to Sly's. His tail was solid black, and his hair was nicely combed forward.

Daniel was sitting on the couch with Rascal, discussing what to do with Skylar. The male raccoon approached them.

"…Dad I'm home." He emphasized.

Daniel looked up at him, surprised. "Nathan! I didn't expect you to get home so early! How was work?"

Nathan brushed his pants off. "Terrible, like always."

Rascal looked at the raccoon, clearly very irritated. He folded his arms. "What exactly do you do again?"

Nathan laughed. "Ras, we go through this every time."

"Don't call me that." Rascal growled.

"Fine." Nathan crossed his arms. "Rascal, I am a car detailer."

Catherine rolled her eyes. "Why can't you two get along every now and then? This bickering gets old. Nathan, you're like 15 years older than Rascal. Rascal, you need to fight with someone your own age."

Rascal narrowed his black eyes. "He's not a Cooper."

Daniel looked over towards the irritated Nathan. "Rascal, you know he goes on heists in his spare time. Why is that such an issue?"

He sighed. "I guess it's really not. I just don't understand if he's the greatest Cooper on the planet why can't he help us find Sly?"

Nathan closed his eyes. "I have to work, Rascal. What do you need from me anyway? I don't want to get all entangled with your time machine plans. You'll accuse me of messing it up!"

Rascal and Nathan didn't get along too well because of their opposite personalities. Ever since Rascal had to live with Daniel, they never really got along. Nathan doesn't mind Rascal too much, however, Rascal dislikes his cousin because of the fact he doesn't really help much with finding Sly. Nathan is extremely passionate about his family, and that includes Sly, but he would appear to prefer to work rather than hang out with the gang.

Daniel smiled at him. "So have you spoken to your brothers? How are they doing?

Nathan leaned up against the white wall. "Kieran is fine, I haven't talked to him today. I saw Ashton earlier with his girlfriend, but I didn't say anything to him."

Ashton and Kieran were both Daniel and Catherine's children as well. They were born when Daniel was really young, but he managed to pull through with Catherine. Kieran was more of the calm child in the group while Ashton was more of the party type. Nathan was the hard worker, but he would much rather be stealing money and pulling heists even, some might even argue he was better at thieving than Sly. All the children took after their Cooper roots with pulling heists and taking things that don't belong to them. Kieran and Ashton might not have been as familiar with all of the moves Sly used to do, but they still helped tremendously with heists, especially when they teamed up with Nathan. Ashton lived across town with his girlfriend, Ashely Cobb, and Kieran lived in an RV just across the street with his two best friends. Nathan saw Kieran a whole lot more often than Ashton, but they still remained real close as they grew up.

Skylar had disappeared into the kitchen for a peanut butter sandwich. She emerged with half of a sandwich in her mouth and smiled. "Nathan!" She tried to speak with a sandwich in her mouth.

Nathan laughed. "Don't talk with your mouth full." He advised.

Skylar swallowed her sandwich and took a breath. "How was your day?"

Nathan flipped his cane. "Not too bad, I guess."

She smiled as a response. "That's great, Nathan. My you look so nice today. Did you get a new haircut?" She somewhat flirted.

Nathan raised an eyebrow at Skylar's odd behavior. "What do you want?"

Skylar smiled and pulled out a large piece of paper in her pocket. "I need a mechanic to work on the Cooper van so we can go back in time!"

Nathan blushed. "Skylar…I'm not a mechanic. I'm a detailer, remember?"

She frowned. "I already told Bentley I knew a mechanic that could help fix the van! Someone named Murray crashed it in a derby apparently. I really need someone to fix it or we can't go back in time!"

"Woah, slow down sis!" Nathan said as he was making stopping gestures with his hands. "Who is Bentley? Cooper van?"

Skylar blushed in embarrassment. "Oh, I'm sorry. Bentley is Sly's best friend. He's going to help us find Sly when we go back in time."

Nathan smiled. "Wait, so you know where Sly is?"

She rubbed the back of her head and slouched slightly. "Well, we don't know EXACTLY where he is but we do know he might be in ancient Egypt."

"Aye!" He cheered. "So, I get to finally meet my famous uncle, Sly. How exciting!"

Rascal stood up from the couch. "Well, Nathan, we can't go anywhere without that van!"

"I honestly don't really know how to fix a car." Nathan lowered his head. "I mean…I can try, but I can't make promises."

Daniel raised an eyebrow. "So, wait, a van is going to be our time machine? When were you going to tell us this, Skylar?"

"Bentley told me that's what his former time machine was. He has it now, it's just damaged. We need a mechanic to fix it."

Rascal crossed his arms. "The problem, Skylar, is that our time machine will be superior to Bentley's. We will be able to manually enter a time code and go back in time from there."

She frowned. "We don't have anywhere to sit. Besides, if we have the van, we will always have a method to transport."

Daniel stood silent, but then suddenly got an idea. "Wait, if we have the van, Sly might be more likely to trust us! He will recognize the 'Cooper van,' right?"

"Well, I would think so." Skylar explained. "I don't have much information on it, but I would think Sly would be familiar with it."

Nathan frowned. "I don't think I can build a time machine."

Rascal smirked. "I built the time machine. You just need to fix the van so we can install it."

Skylar narrowed her eyes towards Rascal. "WE built the time machine."

Daniel tugged his hair in irritation. "Okay, who cares WHO built the time machine. All we need to do now is we need to get that van fixed so we can travel at all. Once we get that taken care of, then we can try to convince Sly to come home with us. Deal?"

"Deal!" The group said in unison.
