Better Together Chapter 18: "Schemers Gotta Scheme Part 1"
"Louie!" Huey called from downstairs, "We're going on another adventure! Come on! Dewey and the others are already in the Sunchaser!" He called from the bottom of the staircase in McDuck manor. He wore his blue backpack strapped over his right shoulder and hanging off the left side, and had his hands cupped around his beak so that his voice would project better.
Louie's reply came muffled by something that sounded like fabric, perhaps by his covers. Huey predicted he was probably in bed.
"No." He said almost instantly.
Huey groaned, "Don't make me come up there to drag you."
A minute of silence passed.
Huey frowned and tapped his foot on the ground, not understanding why Louie was being so uncooperative. It was his fault; he could have ended everything on a nicer note. He could have called June back. If he was going sulk about something all day, then shouldn't he have thought before he acted?
Huey climbed up the stairs and down the hall, opening the door to the room he shared with his brothers.
"Come on. Get up." The triplet in red told his brother. Louie frowned and sat up.
"Okay, okay, I'm coming." Louie rolled his eyes, hopping off the green bottom bunk.
"I have a plan." Huey said, "While we're on our adventure, we can figure out a plan on how to get June back."
Louie raised an eyebrow, "So let me get this straight: Your plan involves getting a plan?"
Huey shrugged, "You have a better idea?"
"No." Louie replied curtly. He put his hands on his hips, "But June's all the way in Cape Suzette. How are we going to get her back? We can't change Daisy's mind."
Huey smirked, "I never said we're changing Daisy's mind." He motioned for Louie to follow him downstairs and out the door so that they could go to the Sunchaser, and Louie wondered what he had to say.
Huey looked at him when they were through the front door and in the front of the manor, "You can scheme without June, can't you?"
Louie scowled, "Don't be stupid, of course I can scheme!"
"Great. 'Cause we're going to need that."
Louie curled his beak, "You know, you usually aren't this mischievous. At least compared to Dewey. And Webby for that matter."
Huey grinned and elbowed him, "It's not mischief if it involves reuniting my brother with," He clasped his hands together for this part, "his precious-!"
"Ew." Louie scrunched up his beak in disgust, "Just get on the plane." He climbed through the flight doors, avoiding a piece of metal poking out from underneath him, courtesy of Launchpad's inability to repair the plane. Although, if we're being honest, it wasn't like the plane was super easy to repair- it was practically ancient, with at least 14 safety violations.
That is, counted by a granny in a span of six seconds.
Still, Louie couldn't imagine his life being otherwise without the crash-happy pilot, nor could he imagine it without his other friends and family members.
He couldn't help but wonder…
How did June feel about leaving everyone she knew behind?
Don't forget to review, follow, and fav! :) ;D
