A/N: Next week I will probably only release one chapter or no chapter at all. I am going on a trip and there is very limited signal available. I will probably have something written but I more than likely will not be able to publish it. I will try my best with my hotspot, but there is no guarantee it'll work. Anyway, just thought I'd clear that up really quick. I won't abandon this story. I made too many promises I would finish it aha.
Daniel still couldn't wrap his head around why Clockwerk has Sly or what he was planning on doing when he finds out everyone was after him. He remembered seeing his parents get slaughtered by Clockwerk and his minions, nicknamed the findish five. It was crazy to think he was still around, but whatever the reason he was still alive he needed to be stopped.
"Lucifer isn't very original. No wonder he's angry. I'd be angry too if my name was that. It literally means Devil." Nathan crossed his arms and mumbled.
Rascal raised an eyebrow. "I'd be angry if my full name was Nathan Cooper." He started to laugh a bit.
"At least I have a career other than thieving, punk."
"Okay that's enough, Nathan." Daniel growled. "Rascal is 12, grow up."
"Yeah." Rascal mocked. "Grow up."
Nathan rolled his eyes. "Okay, whatever. All I am trying to say is that Lucifer is unoriginal, like naming a dog Fido or something. That just seems odd to me. Like did his parents destined him to be evil or something?"
"Nathan, I don't think Lucifer is our main concern." Rascal replied with a raspy tone. "What about that name he mentioned, Clockwerk. That to me sounds ominous by itself, but the fact that whoever that is might have Sly should be who we should focus on right now."
Daniel stood silent, remembering what Clockwerk had done to tear about his family. "Nathan, Clockwerk is no villain you want to tango with, trust me."
Nathan stopped for a moment. "You know Clockwerk? How come you never really mentioned him to us?"
Daniel stood there quietly, trying to change the subject of their conversation. He eyed over to Skylar, being unusually quiet.
Skylar stared off into the distance at the pyramid. "I'm scared. What if Sly isn't even over in whatever town is over there? What if there's no town there at all?"
Nathan sighed in disappointment. He could see Skylar was genuinely concerned about this whole Sly thing, and it seemed out of character for her. Skylar had more of a 'worry free' personality and never really paid attention to what was really around her. This, strangely, makes her an excellent thief. Her lack of fear and determination helps her with everything she does and be able to keep a clear head. Trying to perform the signature Cooper moves was never a good idea when having too much on your mind. It requires a clear and quiet mind, which Skylar luckily had.
Nathan walked over to her and put a hand on her shoulder. "It's okay, Skylar. I'm sure we will find Sly. Remember, Bentley is looking too. We aren't alone on this…"
"Sly is for sure here." Rascal stated. "Why else would Lucifer be here?"
"Maybe to fool us…" Daniel suggested.
Rascal frowned and dug through his large jean pockets. He pulled out an obscure diamond shape device, modeled with that terrible 2000s translucent look. It sat on a small black box and was covered in buttons.
"We can call Bentley and see what we can do." He suggested as he started fiddling with the machine. "He might even know how we can stop Clockwerk."
Skylar turned around and stared at the strange looking device in awe. She had always been fascinated with her brother's unique technological gadgets and gizmos.
"Hello?"
Projected from the flat tip of the diamond was a holographic image of the genius turtle, sporting his signature safari hat and round glasses.
"Bentley?" Rascal leaned close to the device.
"Rascal is that you? Can you hear me?"
"Yes!" Rascal yelled. "We are in Egypt."
"That's great!" Bentley exclaimed. "We're still fixing the time machine on our end."
Daniel approached the diamond and stood beside Rascal, leaning in close to the hologram. "I don't think that's necessary, Bentley. Some guy named Lucifer just came to us and told us Clockwerk has Sly!"
Bentley didn't respond and just stared blankly into the camera for a while. He didn't think he heard that correctly. Clockwerk? No way. Clockwerk's hate chip was destroyed. His parts are completely destroyed. How would Clockwerk have Sly?
"Bentley?" Rascal tilted his head, trying to figure out why Bentley was so quiet.
"You said Clockwerk…right?"
"Yeah." Daniel corrected. "He might have Sly."
Bentley lowered his glasses, revealing his tiny black eyes. "Clockwerk is nobody to be tangoing with, fellas. He will be your worst nightmare."
Daniel crossed his arms. "Clockwerk is more than just a nightmare. He literally wants my family destroyed. He killed our parents, and we still do not know to this day why."
Bentley began to shake. "To prove that the Coopers aren't anything without the Thevious Raccoonus! I'm not sure why he wants to prove this either, he never really explains this. Whatever the circumstances, Carmelita destroyed his hate chip years ago. The Clockwerk parts decayed right before our eyes. Sly will even tell you, time caught up with that eagle."
"We need to save him!" Skylar urged the group. "Sly could be in great trouble! We have to go after him!"
"Not so fast, Skylar." Bentley interrupted. "Clockwerk is no villain you guys have dealt with before. I need to get there; I can help you guys defeat him. I've helped Sly defeat him not once but twice!"
Nathan stood still for a moment, trying to process the words Bentley was saying. "Come here? You don't even know where this Clockwerk guy is."
Bentley narrowed his eyes. "I can find out. I've done it before, Nathan."
"Well, please come help us." Skylar pleaded. "Sly might be in trouble!"
"I'll be there as soon as Murray's van gets repaired. I need to find a repairman."
Nathan smiled. "Penelope hasn't fixed it yet?"
Bentley looked back at the mouse who was working hard on that van. "No, not yet, and I need things to speed up."
"Call 188-252-4725. That's a good mechanic I know. He can help you get it done."
Bentley smiled. "Well thanks, Nathan. I guess your side work wasn't really a bad idea after all."
Nathan grinned. "Car detailers are the best, especially if they're Coopers behind closed doors."
Daniel rolled his eyes. "You only do that work to make some extra money, Nathan, don't boast about it."
Back in Paris, Bentley quickly dials the number to the mechanic Nathan recommended. The phone rang for what seemed like hours, but somebody managed to answer.
"Thank you for calling Paris's finest automobile detailing and mechanical company, my name is Bob, how may I help you?"
Bentley swallowed in nervousness. He wasn't used to talking on the phone to strangers, but he needed to talk to this guy if he has any hope of fixing the van. "Um, yes. I have a van that needs to be repaired. Our friend wrecked it, and we need it fixed ASAP if you wouldn't mind."
"Is it totaled?"
Bentley started to sweat. "No…no sir I don't think so. One of your employees, Nathan, recommended your service. He told us you were the best…"
"COOPER!" The voice yelled over the phone, nearly blowing Bentley's eardrums. "That jackass raccoon stole our work van! Forget it, I'm not helping you."
"But…" Bentley tried to reason with the stranger, but the stranger was furious over the phone, so furious Bentley could almost feel the heat of his anger through the phone.
"Oh, and when you see him, tell him his ass is FIRED." The voice yelled once more.
Bentley almost started to cry. "Look, I'm not here to start any fights. I'm not even really friends with Nathan. Look I'll pay you whatever you want, just please fix the van. I really need it ASAP. I promise whatever you demand you will receive a check for it tomorrow."
The voice went quiet for a few seconds, giving Bentley a hint, he may be starting to calm down. "Okay, I'll take a look at it, if you make sure I never see that lying thief again."
"I promise." Bentley excitedly responded. "I greatly appreciate it."
