Despite the demands from everyone, Skylar adventured off to find Sly herself. The impatience grew strong within her as the gang fell asleep on the cold desert sand. Skylar was adventurous, and she didn't care what the consequences were from her doing what she wanted to do.
As she treaded along the cold and lonely desert, she thought of her dad. She often worried how he was going to react meeting her for the first time. She also thought of Daniel as she was wondering. How would he react to her wondering off? How would he take it if something were to happen to her?
She didn't care much about her thoughts. All she wanted to do was find her dad and make things go back to normal. A confusing mixture of anger and worry flooded her head. Anger because of his actions leading him to being lost and worry that he will not believe her, and things will never return to normal.
After walking for what felt like hours, she finally saw some lanterns lit across a pathway, illuminating a small ancient Egyptian city. She smiled big, realizing her small journey was over. She ran right through the city with no regard of who could see her. All she was determined to do was find Sly.
Skylar ran straight across the empty city and ran into a large ancient building with a huge wooden door with gold cats engraved into it. She wasn't too sure how to open the darn thing. Looking upwards she saw the door was locked with some sort of ancient key. She thought to pick it, but she wasn't familiar with ancient locks. Instead, she scanned the area for an alternant route.
Scanning the area really made her realize the beast she was about to tame. The palace was enormous, built with sturdy ancient Egyptian bricks. The door was bordered with wooden spikes and the palace was surrounded by a moat with hardly any water in it. Up above, the roof was a flat wooden roof with spikes at the 4 corners. The building was shaped like a cube and in front, two giant cat statues guarded the gates.
Skylar felt rather intimidated by the palace. It was something she had never seen before. Still, this didn't stop her from finding her dad. She noticed a sharp knife laying on the brick pathway leading to the palace and she structured an idea in her head. She grabbed the knife and noticed it pierced through the crevices on the bricks. She figured ancient Egyptians didn't have the best bricks, but it didn't really matter to her. She was going to get into that palace.
She climbed just like a spider all the way up that palace. The knife at least helped her get a boost up, and her swinging skills allowed her to swing across the wooden boarders above the spikes. She gripped the wooden stilts that sat beside each corner and continued to climb up. Once she reached the roof, she noticed a door that led straight into the building. She quietly opened it and stuck her head down to scope out the guards. Her long blue hair hung from the ceiling, but the two guards that were down below didn't notice it.
Skylar waited for an opportunity once the guards left the room. She didn't consider the strangeness of ancient guards leaving their posts, and swung herself to the wooden beams across the ceiling. She looked down and noticed the room was absolutely stunning. The floor looked to be paved in gold and the walls were covered in the ancient Pharaoh's prized possessions. She even noticed the Pharaoh had his signature wig hanging right beside his red velvet throne. Skylar scoped the area for a few seconds. Just before she jumped down, she heard two voices enter the room.
"Well I do say Mr. Cooper, you really have outdone yourself."
"Thank you, Slytunkhamen. That really makes me feel so much better."
Two raccoons entered within Skylar's view. She gasped as she observed one familiar face. One raccoon had a square beard, a tall headdress, and heavy eyeliner. He wore no shirt with a brown woven skirt, brown sandals, and carried two cooper canes. The other raccoon looked the most familiar. He wore similar clothing to the other raccoon, but he didn't have any eyeliner or the large headdress. Instead, he wore a rather small headdress, but it was covered in jewels. He only carried one cane, but this was no ordinary cane. Skylar recognized it from anywhere. It was the cane she was hoping to see.
The Cooper cane.
This was Sly Cooper she was looking at.
"Silvester Cooper, you have learned all of my wisdom I obtained from the years. I have taught you everything my father and his father has taught me."
Sly looked over to Slytunkhamen. "I hope I can provide a service to your Pharaoh. As you know I really need to find my way back. I don't belong here."
Skylar's eyes grew wide as she continued to dangle from the wooden beam.
Slytunkhamen held the two canes behind his back. "I understand, Silvester. Like I mentioned before, I am unsure if my Pharaoh can provide any assistance to help you back. I'm sure if he talked to one of our Gods, they can help you. You have helped us so much. Without you, that thief would've still had our Pharaoh's precious treasures. Those are all he has to offer to the Gods."
Sly stood his cane up and leaned on it. "It was the least I can do, sir."
Slytunkhamen stood silent for a few moments twirling his two canes around. "Do you know of an eagle owl that has flown through this city? He doesn't look like he is from around here."
"Eagle owl?"
Skylar grew an urge to speak about Clockwerk, but she wasn't sure if that was who they were talking about. She continued to dangle from the beam, listening to Sly and Slytunkhamen's conversation.
"Yes. An eagle owl keeps flying through here. He is scaring our locals. I'm worried he may be lost."
Sly wasn't sure if he should be worried or not. "I have not seen an eagle owl, but I'll find out who he is for you. Does the Pharaoh want to know?"
"Yes, and he sent me to check." Slytunkhamen responded. "I'm sure he is just lost. When we find him, we can find out what's going on. Our city never gets intruders, however. We are the safest city in Egypt easily."
As soon as Slytunkhamen finished his sentence, Skylar lost her grip and fell down to the floor, just inches away from her head. She sat up and looked up at the two raccoons, who were greatly startled. They both turned around and saw Skylar sitting, looking straight up at them. Slytunkhamen raised one of his canes to slay her, but soon stopped as he realized she was only a child.
Sly wasn't sure how to react to the intruding Skylar. He was confused how she even entered the palace in the first place. There was no way a child could enter the palace and manage to fool two master thieves. Despite their disbelief, the 12-year-old Skylar remained sitting on the floor, trying to process the situation and trying to formulate how she was going to explain this to Daniel.
"State your purpose, small child." Slytunkhamen demanded to Skylar.
Skylar stood up slowly with fear Slytunkhamen was going to kill her. "I wasn't trying to intrude." She nervously stated.
"State your name and purpose then, child."
Skylar swallowed. "I'm Skylar…and I'm…I'm looking…I'm looking for him." Skylar pointed to Sly as she said this, making Sly even more confused.
"You're looking for me?" He raised an eyebrow.
Skylar stood as still as a rock in fear she would be killed. "Yes…and that is my only purpose…I promise."
Sly looked over at Slytunkhamen and back at Skylar. "Why are you looking for me?"
Skylar started to sweat. She wasn't really the nervous type but knowing that Slytunkhamen could kill her at any moment and get away with it made her extremely nervous. "Mr. Cooper, you just need to trust me." She started to explain. "I'm someone you need to trust."
"I don't know you." Sly crossed his arms uncharacteristically. "Whatever you need you can tell both of us right here and be on your way. Don't try to steal anything from us either, your immature self is dealing with two master thieves."
Skylar felt like crying, but she held back her tears. She didn't expect to hear such words come from her dad's mouth. From what she has heard he was sarcastic, but he was very friendly to everyone. He didn't seem like the type to be so threatening and hateful. "Mr. Cooper…"
"My name is Silvester." Sly corrected.
Silvester? Skylar thought this was rather odd. Since when did Sly want to be called Silvester? "I'm sorry…Silvester…but I really need to tell you something, and I don't think you are going to believe me. I'm Skylar…"
"I already know you're Skylar." Sly interrupted.
"I'm Skylar Fox…your daughter."
Sly stood silent for a moment, trying to process that information. He looked over at her with shock and confusion. He has a child? When did this happen? How old is she? All these questions poured through his head all at once. Instead of trying to figure out the situation, he accused her of lying instead.
"I'm not lying…Silvester…I really am your daughter. I can prove it!"
"Who is your mother?" Sly asked sternly.
"Carmelita Montoya Fox." Skylar blurted.
Okay she for sure wasn't lying. Sly might not remember much but he does remember that beautiful vixen. He missed her quite a bit and meant to talk to her as soon as he could get back to Paris. He hoped in the back of his head that she would just come out of nowhere to arrest him, but throughout the time Sly has been trapped in Egypt, he never got such a visit.
"C…Carmelita?" He stuttered.
"Yes!" Skylar yelled. "Carmelita is my mom. Sly…I mean Silvester…you need to come home with me. I can get you back to Paris, but we need to go back now. Carmelita is counting on you!"
Sly was still unsure to trust her or not. Just as soon as he was about to start questioning, the palace door busted open, revealing no one other than Daniel, Nathan, Rascal, Bentley, and even Penelope all standing with intense anger. Daniel was the most furious, with steam almost being seen coming from his head.
"Skylar!" He yelled. "I told you to wait for us!"
Skylar turned nervously over to Daniel, revealing Sly Cooper behind her to the gang. Daniel's anger instantly faded as he saw his long-lost brother staring straight at him. "Baby brother!" He yelled running over to him for a hug.
Sly didn't really hug Daniel back. He was so taken back at the sudden events he wasn't sure what to do.
"Sly it's me, Daniel! Don't you remember me?"
Sly thought long and hard for a moment, until he remembered Daniel suddenly disappearing from his family as Sly was put into that orphanage. Sly often tried not to think about Daniel too much to avoid the pain, but it was unavoidable. He missed his brother.
"Baby brother." Daniel smiled.
