CHAPTER 3: TALK ABOUT PAR FOR THE COURSE

The weekend had arrived and Charlie Brown and Frieda had went to the new indoor mini golf course at the mall. They were excited to try out the new course. Some of their friends were there, as well. Linus and Eudora had shown up, as did Marcie and Franklin. Claudia was working at the place collecting golf balls and bringing them back to the dispensary. As they got ready for the first hole, Charlie Brown noticed something was off with the decoration.

"Frieda, look at that frog's mouth," he said. "Doesn't it look kind of crooked?"

"It does, hun," said Frieda. "Try to sink the ball in there, though."

And Charlie Brown hit his ball and it did go in. But all of the sudden it shot out sideways, rather than head for the hole.

"Did you see that?!" he gasped. "The ball shot over into the next course! I know I'm clumsy, but I'm not THAT clumsy!"

"Let me try," Frieda replied. And she hit her ball the same way. And, again, the ball shot out sideways going the opposite direction of Charlie Brown's ball.

"Well that's different!" said an exasperated Frieda.

"Let move on to the next hole," suggested Charlie Brown. And they went over to Hole 2 where Linus and Eudora were.

"Oh hi, Charlie Brown and Frieda," greeted Linus. "How are you enjoying the new mini golf place?"

"I don't know, Linus," said Charlie Brown. "So far the ball on the first hole shot both our balls sideways instead of going directly to the hole."

"Well, we're having a time on this second hole," Eudora replied. The second hole was a zig-zag course, but someone had forgot to saw in openings to the hole.

"Who in the world constructed this?!" wondered Frieda.

"Someone who didn't know what they were doing, obviously," retorted Linus. "Why don't we go over to the third hole?"

And the kids went over to the third hole which was the typical windmill hazard. Charlie Brown hit his ball first and it did make it into the hole in the windmill, but it never exited out of the backside.

"Good grief, who was the guy in charge of building this?!" fumed Charlie Brown.

"Why hasn't the ball come out yet?" wondered Frieda. Franklin and Marcie walked up.

"Hey gang," greeted Franklin. "You having issues with this course, too?"

"It was like complete morons built this place!" said an angry Eudora.

"I th-think I know what the issue is." Claudia, dressed in her uniform, walked up to the gang. "When they built this, it was a r-r-rushed job. They were t-trying to finish it in b-b-breakneck speeds, they forgot t-to complete it c-c-correctly."

"Oh brother!" sighed Charlie Brown.

"Well, someone should make them finish the job!" fumed Marcie.

"I agree!" added Frieda.

"Well this was a bust," said Linus. "Anyone up for a film at the multiplex?"

"Sure," said Charlie Brown. "Frieda?"

"Absolutely, baby," she said. "Let's see that new paranormal film."

"You and your horror movies, Frieda," said Eudora. "Why do you love them so much?"

"Anything to give me an excuse to cuddle up to my man here." And she hugged Charlie Brown. So all the kids said goodbye to Claudia as she went back to work, and headed for the multiplex to catch a movie.
