I'm looking for opinions from anyone who was read more than one of my stories. Among all of them, the full stories and the one shots, which were your favorites? Which concepts did you like the most? Let me know in a PM or the reviews if you want, I'm really interested!
As always, thanks for all the love and happy reading!
A friend.
That was all the little boy wanted, a friend. Someone to play with so he wouldn't be so lonely. Lucy wasn't sure how to go about helping him though, since she only had one friend of her own. She worried day and night, much to the chagrin of her Zodiac. How could she call herself a goddess if she failed to provide this one little thing for her follower? How could she hold her head up high if she couldn't grant the one wish she'd been given?
Eventually she decided to create a spell. Using the charisma of Leo, the innocuousness of Aries, the relatableness of Gemini, and the devotion of Capricorn, she created an aura for Natsu that would radiate those traits and draw kids in. It was subtle, so it wouldn't grab everyone's attention and overwhelm him, but it would draw in other kids like him that would make good friends.
During his next visit, she remained invisible, but for the first time she finally approached him. While he talked to her, she stood behind him and rested her hand on his head. She was still too scared to reveal herself, so once she was done, she retreated so she could continue to listen to him fill the silence, happy with her solution.
Then all too soon, regret began to eat away at her. Since she had kept her distance before then, it had bothered her a little less than she hadn't spoken to him yet. Having been close enough to touch him, even with the barrier between their worlds, she found herself reconsidering the distance once more. When he finally left for the day, she retrieved her flowers and headed home. Upon her return, she spied her reflection in the hallway mirror and was reminded once more why she didn't like others looking at her.
She carefully ran her finger along the scar over her cheekbone. She'd had it for so long, she barely even paid attention to it anymore, but since Natsu had started visiting, her emotions had slowly come back, and with them, her shame.
The gods and goddesses were perfect beings. They were beautiful, intelligent, flawless beings with power and an ageless body that would never perish. They glowed with a light so bright and pure, it was hard for humans to look at them, to fully appreciate their divine visage.
Except for her.
It was obvious to anyone who looked upon her- her glow was only half as bright as any other goddess, making her less appealing than the others. All because of her scar… her scar that marked her as what she was.
A damaged goddess, with little power, and even less influence over the decisions of her pantheon.
Of course she hadn't shown herself to Natsu yet. As soon as she did, he would see he'd chosen a broken goddess to worship and move on to a better choice. Once he did, she'd be alone again, and she wasn't ready for that ust yet…
Still, if she didn't reveal herself soon, he was liable to leave on his own. Without any sort of sign of her existence besides her shrine, he would eventually leave in favor of a goddess who would at least respond to him, if not give him something for his efforts. Lucy turned away from her mirror, ignoring the way her heart hurt as she searched for her bag.
She had work to do.
