Gods Among Us
Chapter 6
Central City
Barry Allen walked into the main corridor of STAR Labs with an ice pack on his shoulder. In a few hours, the injury he had on his back would heal but for right now, he had to use an ice pack to make himself feel better. Markos stood in the corridor staring at Barry's suit with a frown. He now stood in his armor making him look a bit more intimidating. Markos stood taller than just about everyone in the room at 6'6 and was built like a god. Everyone including Barry, Cisco, Caitlin and Shane. The room was silent as either everyone was afraid to speak or just didn't have anything to speak.
"It's too quiet in here, so what exactly are you?" Cisco asked, earning a glare from Shane. Shane tried to explain to everyone what Markos was but either Cisco didn't believe him or he just wanted to break the silence. Probably a mix of both.
"I am a Tarrin. The Tarrin God of Thunder, Lightning, Strength, Fertility and Honor." Markos said, turning around to face his questioners.
"So are there other gods where you're from?" Cisco once again asked.
"Yes but I am the last of my kind." He said with a frown as he began to look down at the ground with a somber tone. Everyone in the room detected his tone of voice and began to get quiet once again giving him time to grief over the losses of his species. It was true, Markos was the last one of his kind. And not just Tarrin Gods but Tarrins period.
"So I'm guessing Terminus has started."
"Yea, he has."
"He? What do you mean he? I thought it was a phase. Like Ragnarok."
"Ragnarok? Isn't that a movie?" Cisco asked as both Barry and Shane turned to look at him. Cisco simply shrugged his shoulders with a look of confusion.
"I thought it was too but clearly we both were misinformed. All this time, I let my father make me believe that I couldn't defend against it. The whole time, I could have. It was simply just one man. One man that I could've defeated if my father allowed me to instead of hiding in his own fear." Markos said as he balled his fist up in anger as electricity began to pulse through his hands.
"Hey, I'm sure he had his reasons. Maybe he was just trying to protect you." Caitlin spoke up in a gentle tone trying to console the powerful God of Thunder, who just lost his father.
"I could've saved him! I could've saved my planet! If it wasn't for his cowardice, this would've never would've happened!" Markos said as he turned around with tears in his eyes now as they began to cascade from his tear ducts. It was clear that he was still in pain from his father's passing. Especially when he felt that he could've been the one to save him but couldn't.
"You don't need to see me like this. I'm gonna go get some air." Markos walked out of the corridor with the tears of pain in his eyes. This left Barry, Cisco, Caitlin and Shane in the corridor looking at each other.
"So let me get this straight, he somehow got off his planet and got here. His dad lied to him about Terminus, making him initially believe it was like Ragnarok, but instead it was a person. A person killed his father."
"And his planet."
"So what does that have to do with us?" Cisco asked.
"He needs my help Cisco. I know more about his species than anyone else. Hell, maybe even him if we're being honest."
"I still don't think we should help him. I don't trust him." Cisco said making everyone in the room sigh.
"The man just lost his father." Caitlin pleaded.
"The man is alien god who if he wanted to could kill us all."
"We have to try. We at least owe that to him." Shane said trying to win over Cisco's support.
"We don't owe him a damn thing."
"No, Cisco. Shane is right. If we have the resources to help him we should. Especially if that guy that he's talking about is coming here. I'm gonna go talk to him." Barry said walking out of the corridor to go talk to The Prince of Tarr.
"Big muscle guy walks in and immediately everyone starts trusting him. 'I am the Tarrin God of Thunder'" Cisco said, mocking Markos in the last sentence earning a glare from both Caitlin and Shane. He turned to look at them both seeing there glare.
"What? Yea, I said it." Cisco said turning back around and walking over to his tablet to start doing what he could to help.
STAR Labs
Barry stood next to Markos who had his arms folded looking out at the sky. Barry didn't admit it but they both shared a similar pain. The pain of losing parents. Barry lost both of his parents in his lifetime. His mother at an early age and his father soon after.
"I'm sorry about your dad."
"I didn't even get to say goodbye. I didn't get to tell him that I love him. I've lost my mother, my brother, my father and one woman who believed in me the most. I lost the love of my life." Markos said getting choked up. Barry looked at him, feeling the pain he had. The only real thing that helped ease that pain were his friends and Iris. Markos was proof that even the most powerful beings had feelings.
"You know I've been alive for thousands and thousands of years. I've killed hundreds in the pursuit of peace. Many have tried, but none have succeeded. I'm only alive because fate wills me so. Before my path in life was to secure peace. But now my path will be to get vengeance for my people. For my father." Markos said balling his fist up once more.
"If what you're saying is true. If that threat is one it's way here. We need to tell the league. We need to alert them."
"How will your people feel about a God living amongst them?"
"We kinda already have one." Barry said with a smirk as Markos turned his head looking at Barry with a frown of confusion.
A/N: Once again sorry about the length. I'm just now getting back in the fray with this story, so I kinda gotta go back and look at my plans but it looks like Markos might be possibly meeting Diana next chapter. So we'll see how those two react to meeting one another. I'm gonna try my best to get back into this so I can keep pumping out good content for you guys.
