"When are they supposed to come over?" Oswald asked only to quickly dodge out of the way as Mickey franticly ran around his house, tiding up.
"Any minute, really," Mickey said, glancing out the window before picking up the Windex and cleaning a smudge he had noticed.
"I don't think you really need to clean," Ortensia tried, sitting on the sofa as she watched the mouse cross the room to put away the cleaner and rag. "This place already is spotless."
Mickey turned to look around at his living room, about to admit the cat might be right only for the doorbell to ring. "I got it," he announced, rushing over to the door.
"I didn't miss their arrival, did I?" Minnie asked as the mouse walked in, passing a stressed Mickey. She looked him over before shaking her head. "I'm guessing not?"
"Maybe you can force him to sit down," Ortensia sighed.
"Yeah, I think he might be having a panic attack," Oswald crossed his arms over his chest as he leaned against the sofa's arm rest.
"I'm not having a panic attack, I just want everything to be perfect," Mickey admitted only for Minnie to grab hold of his hand.
She pulled him over to his recliner and forced him to sit down before leaning over him and smiling sweetly. "I don't think she'll hate you if your house is dirty."
"Yeah, but she'll be staying here until Friday," Mickey explained. "And I still don't know what it was that made her stop talking to me."
"I don't think it was your house," Oswald tried.
"It probably has nothing to do with you," Minnie offered, dropping herself next to Ortensia on the sofa.
"But then what?" Mickey asked, rubbing his fingers over the bridge of his nose. "We used to talk about everything growing up, what changed?"
"Growing up," Ortensia said. "Look at Homer and me. We used to hate each other, but now he does what he thinks is protecting me."
"Speaking of Homer, isn't he and your father coming down tomorrow?" Minnie asked.
"Don't remind me," Oswald rolled his eyes.
"They're coming down on the three o'clock train," Ortensia informed. Minnie and Oswald's faces turned at the name of the train, reminding the cat of her own trip on it. "Any word if the police have found Pete or Julius?"
"They're still looking, and Cleo, Julius' wife, isn't giving them any hints," Mickey said.
The doorbell rang again, startling Mickey out of his chair. He pulled open the door and smiled. "Hi Amelia-" he cut himself short at seeing a mouse with his arms around his older sister.
"Hi Mickey, this is my- er- boyfriend, Andrew," Amelia said, her cheeks blushing.
AN: Wow, 5 years between the last one and this one⦠Let's see, what's happened in the middle. Got a book published (Harley Davis: Teenage Superhero), working on its sequel, moved, getting mental help. And honestly it was a Bible study that made me pick up the Oswald Adventures Series again, but doing so has made me happy again. Never realized how much Oswald meant to me.
As for this story, it doesn't have too much adventure to it but it does have a lot of character to it. Don't worry, the next one is already in the works and does.
Thank you for your patients. I hope to do better for this small community of Oswald fans. He deserves that.
