The rubble started to clear. Sunlight blared in his eyes. The Doctor was a little beaten up. He had a few small scratches on his face and hands, his coat and clothes were partially ripped. There were rock and boulders littering the floor.
"Ethan!" He called. "Ethan!?" He saw the purple scaled fellow on the ground, limp. He ran over to him. He knelt and grabbed his arm to take his pulse.
Alive, but unconscious He thought. He grunted as he got up.
BLAM!
The Doctor quickly spun on his heel and ran in the direction. He saw Ethan lying on the ground, Magnum in hand, and was firing at a hooded ninja. He had a white ninja robe, with a rope slung across his chest with a little golden emblem attached to it. He also had a pair of golden shurikens in each hand. Ethan was badly damaged. He had a huge cut across his chest, a cut across his left eye, his right arm lay limp on the ground, bloodied hair, his overcoat was missing, and, oddly, his one leg was encased in a block of ice. Ethan saw the Doctor and screamed something before reloading. The Doctor mouthed "Cover your ears. Ethan dropped the gun and covered his ears just as the Doctor held his sonic screwdriver up above his head and pressed the button, giving of another ear-piercing screech, making the white ninja scream and fall to the ground. The Doctor ran to Ethan, who looked on the verge of death. The Doctor knelt and looked at his injuries
"My arm…" Ethan said in pain. "I… I think my arm is broken. Along with my leg."
"I'm gonna get you out of here," The Doctor said, trying to help Ethan up, but Ethan pushed him back.
"No, you need to help everyone else," Ethan said. "I'll just slow you down,"
"No, you-" The Doctor said, but Ethan pointed his gun at him.
"No, you need to help everyone else. I'm the least of your problems," Ethan said. "Now. Go." The Doctor nodded slightly and had a solemn face. He got up and left, leaving Ethan alone.
…
The Doctor was still beating himself up for leaving Ethan.
I should have forced him to let me help him The Doctor thought. He could be dead because of me.
"Hello?" He heard a raspy voice call out. He ran to the source of the voice. He saw a serpentine much like the purple one, but with a regular sized neck, red eyes, his pupils were swirling lines, blue scales. He has the flaps of a king cobra on his head. His head points forwards and curves at the end. Two fangs are visible. On the flaps, yellow swirl designs are visible with blue scales filling the gaps. On the top of his head, a yellow line goes down through the middle, with black spots on the line, white stripes going vertically down with the lines, down his back and along his tail. He has white scales in rectangles going down his chest, thin black scales surrounding the rectangles. Surrounding the black is yellow with yellow swirls at the ends. they are so close together, the yellow merges, white stripes going vertically. He had some bruises, but not too badly damaged. The Doctor ran to him.
"Who are you?" The Serpentine asked.
"The Doctor. You?" The Doctor said.
"I give my name to no one," The Serpentine snapped
"Alright, Duke of Sassytown," The Doctor said. "I'm just trying to help," The serpentine was fuming.
"I am not… whatever you said!" The serpentine said. The Doctor notices a bunch of papers in a manilla folder lying on the ground. He picked it up and opened it. "My name isssssss-"
"Skales," The Doctor said softly.
"H-How did you know that?" Skales asked.
"Apparently, U.N.I.T. has had there eyes on this place for a long time," The Doctor flipped through the papers. One of the purple fellow, or Pythor as he's named, one on Skales, one on the white ninja, or Zane, and so on.
But what was the most confusing thing in there was that there was a file for Ethan, saying his birthplace and planet origin were unknown. It didn't even say his species. The Doctor furrowed his brow.
What secrets is he hiding from me? The Doctor wondered.
"U.N.I.T.? Who'sssssssss that?" Skales asked.
"The United Nations Intelligence Taskforce," The Doctor said. "Basically a military corporation for defending Earth from aliens,"
"Earth?" Skales asked.
"Another planet, inhabited by humans. Don't get me started on the topic of Earth or Humans," The Doctor said.
"You really want don't want to get him started. Trust me," A voice said. The Doctor and Skales turned and saw Ethan standing there, leaning on a boulder.
"Ethan!" The Doctor said.
"I'm back," Ethan coughed. "And I'm staying,"
"Not for long,"
A blade plunged through Ethan's back, straight through his heart. Ethan gasped. The blade retreated, and Ethan fell to the ground, clinging on to life.
And the owner of the knife was Pythor.
