Chapter 4
AYA
"Have you heard?"
"Otohata-san and Hoshino-san."
"I did! I know they're dating. But the announcement last night?!"
"I knew she was princess like!"
"Can't wait for their wedding!"
I hate it. The way they talk about me, about us, as if we cannot hear them. I know this was coming but still I am not used of people talking about me. It makes me more conscious of my every move especially when those eyes are following me. It's an added pressure.
"Aya-chan!" Rie and Satsuki called. At least some people still treat me normally.
"What are you doing walking around without bodyguards?" Satsuki joked.
"I'm still a student you know. I can't possibly study and concentrate with them lurking around. Besides it was a condition my parents have agreed upon," Yeah. First time in my life that I had a deal with my parents. Well I had help from Rei anyways. I'll accept the bodyguards but not within campus. They could stay outside and wait.
It's such a wonder on how fast they agreed when he butted into our conversation. They must have been charmed by him. Anyone would be charmed if it was him.
"So tying the knot eh?"
I blushed at that.
"You are so lucky Aya-chan! You're getting the guy of your dreams!" Rie said. Her eyes are twinkling.
Realization hit me. He dated me just because Ran asked him to. Now he's marrying me because our parents told us so. Plus the possibility of me marrying a stranger. He might have pitied me that much.
"Aya-chan?"
"Ha-hai?"
"Are you alright?"
I nodded and said, "I have to go. I'll be late on the first period. See you around Rie, Satsuki!"
REI
"Way to go man!" The guys were cheering at me as if I just won a lottery.
"Hoshino Aya? Pretty, intelligent, kind…"
"Don't forget a very hot chick! You've got the whole package Otohata!"
I shot him the look that could kill. Yeah, he got the description right but the way he said it doesn't sound good to me.
"She got those curves, you know?" he continued describing her as if she's one of those girls who's using their looks to get the attention of any man they would want.
"I bet her skin is as smooth as silk. Very tempting. Any plans Otohata?"
That did it. I stood up and went to the guy. I know I had that cold expressionless face that made me so popular. It makes the girls scream, but it makes the guys nervous, especially this one.
"Never talked about her that way again," I leaned in to him and whispered making sure that only him could hear the next words. "If I ever hear you again referring to her that way, I'll make sure you'd be begging for forgiveness. Remember, I am the future head of a powerful clan in Japan." He gulped and nodded. I guess we had that clear right now.
I stood up and patted his shoulder before going back to my seat with a smirk on my face. I could be scary if I'd want to.
She doesn't deserve to be referred to that way. Not under my watch at least.
"You usually ignore stuff like that," Yuuya said as he took the seat beside me. "That's the first time Rei that someone had gotten into your nerves and you acknowledged them."
"What are you implying?"
"Nothing."
"The guy was describing her like some kind of girl," I snapped out.
"Hey, I wasn't saying anything. Why are you so defensive?" he chuckled. Really, Yuuya is enjoying this. I raised a brow on him indicating that this isn't funny anymore. He knew what that means. "I just hope you figure it out sooner. It's for you and Aya anyway."
Just then the professor went it. The subject was left hanging. Figure out what?
YUUYA
Rei is so in denial. She has been dating the girl for a year and yet he couldn't admit to himself that he had already fallen for her.
Aya has been that persistent but she herself haven't noticed the progress she made. Couldn't blame her though. The Ice Prince seldom showed emotions anyway, more so did he said anything about what he's feeling.
I heard them the last time. How Rei admitted he likes Ran. Somehow part of that was true. I always knew he had a soft spot for her. He always does things if it was Ran who's asking. It was one of his deepest secrets but who would thought that the densest person in the gang would be the one to notice. She was that observant of him. She felt it but was afraid to ask until recently.
It was painful for Aya to hear his words. He could be such an asshole if he'd want to. "That wounded look says 'No'. Just don't blame me for your hurt feelings, okay?" I heard him say those exact words the day she confronted him with her suspicion.
"So how are they?" I was again summoned by Rei's parents right after my class. I love spying for them but sometimes they call at the most inconvenient time.
I was about to get out of the campus when a black car stopped in front of me. If it was any person, they'd be nervous thinking it was some kidnapper. But for me, I just sighed. Here we go again.
"Any progress?"
"Rei has been more protective of her lately. Making sure that no one talks bad about her," I think I just saw a shine from the Aki-sama's eyes. "But no changes at all when they're together. Same old." She sighed in disappointment.
"My Lady, if I may, don't force them too much. I know Aya is still feeling the same way for him. Rei would probably just need some whacking to realize his own feelings."
"Right," she said as she took another sip from her tea. "Thank you for looking after them, Yuuya."
"It's my pleasure. Besides watching Rei is kind of fun."
"How about you? I saw you hanging around the heir of the Honda's last night. Mami, right?"
"Oh-"
"You're so cute, my dear." she commented on my blushing face. How did this conversation ended up to be about me?
"The Honda's are kind people. I'm sure there wouldn't be any problem with her parents. Just treat the lady very well," she reminded me.
"Hai!"
