Oliver and Eb were out in the field doing chores. Lisa was also outside, tending to her garden.

A black cat walked by. It rubbed against her legs. Seeing it, she screamed, and it ran off.

She looked at her legs. "I know vhat I must do!" she finally said.

She picked up the hose and turned it on. Then she went to a bare spot of dirt and watered it, turning it into mud.

And then, she slipped her shoes off and stood barefoot in the mud! She continued adding more water into it. She then stomped in it, covering her feet with the mud.

Soon afterwards, Oliver and Eb came back to the house.

"I like your new shoes, Mom!"

She smiled. "Thank you, Eb!"

However, Oliver wasn't impressed. "Lisa! Why are you standing barefoot in the mud?!"

"I'm getting vrid of a curse!"

"A curse?"

"That's vright. A black cat just rubbed against my feetz!"

"That can be deadly!" said Eb.

"Oh, you and your silly gypsy curses!"

"It's not silly, Oliver! I have to keep the mud on my feetz for at least an hour."

"Oh…wipe your feet off, before going back in the house!"

"I vill, darling."

An hour later, she went inside. Oliver was relaxing and watching TV.

"Is the curse lifted?"

"Yes, it is, dahling."

"Hallelujah! Oh, I see you cleaned off your feet."

"Just like you asked, me."

"But there's something you forgot?"

"There is?"

He pointed down'; she was still barefooted!

"Oops! Sorry! I'll put my shoez on."

She went back outside and came back with her shoes on.
