Flack rummaged around in his drawer with one hand as he waited for Mac to pick up. No matter how hard he tried, this particular drawer always descended into chaos. He needed more business cards. Aha. Got one. He pulled out a photo instead of the card he was expecting. The man smiled slowly. Him and Juliana at the sea lion pool. He'd forgotten to give her the photo before she flew home. They didn't exchange numbers or emails so he hadn't heard from her since she left well over a year ago. Still, it was a fond memory.

"Taylor."

He sat up from his slouch. "Hey Mac. I've got 15 owners of stolen Ferraris coming down to the precinct. The sixteenth one is on vacation in Bali." Flack sighed, looking at the pile of case files on his desk. This was going to be a lot of interviews. "Any chance you can help me out?"

"Sure. Lindsay is free until the evidence gets to the lab, I'll bring her too. When's the first Ferrari owner coming down?" Maybe he had time to grab a quick breakfast.

"Hey Flack!" Liu shouted from somewhere behind him.

"One sec, Mac." He put the phone against his shoulder. "What?" he yelled back over the general hubbub of the busy room.

"Been gardening lately? Because there's a beanstalk here to see you," Liu said teasingly.

Flack rolled his eyes. Liu was 50/50 for jokes, half side-splittingly hilarious and half too bad to ever mention again. This one definitely fell into the latter category. He spun around in his chair. "The hell do you mean, gard-"

Juliana. Peering through the glass panes of the precinct doors. Her gaze found him and a brilliant smile lit her face.

"I'm gonna have to call you back," he said hurriedly into the phone. The detective tried to hang up the phone without taking his eyes off her. As if she would disappear the moment he looked away. He missed the cradle and he heard the phone thump onto the desk, but he didn't care. Don rushed across the room and burst through the doors. He kissed her, oblivious to everything except the woman in his arms.

When they finally separated, she was blushing furiously at the cacophony of whistles and applause, courtesy of Don's fellow officers.

"I'm sorry about the pack of hooligans." The man stuck his head back into the room. "You lot can shut it. I'll deal with you later." His words were somewhat dampened by his huge grin. "And Liu, put my phone down!" Once his phone was back in its cradle, he took Juliana's hand and led her outside. A little way from the door, he stopped and kissed her again.

"What a warm welcome," she said playfully.

"What are you doing here?" he asked, unable to think of anything more eloquent to say.

The debt wasn't paid off yet, but it was manageable now. After many promises to be careful, carry pepper spray at all times, and call every week, her family had finally relented. "I am moving back to New York," she beamed.

Don wrapped her up in a bear hug. "Oh my God!" he laughed. He thought she was just visiting at best. But moving back? That just made his entire year. His cheeks hurt from smiling. His cell phone rang and he checked the screen. Mac. "Okay. I'm on a case and I have to get back. But dinner? You have to tell me everything I've missed. I'm off at 8 tonight. If there's no hostages and no high-profile suspects," he added.

"I will meet you here." She kissed him quickly before letting him answer his phone.

"Flack."

"Officer Liu just told me you will be indisposed for the next hour because of a lady friend," Mac said, trying to keep a straight face.

Juliana overheard. She raised an eyebrow suggestively and pressed up against him.

'Stop that!' he mouthed at her. Tempting as she was, he was on the clock. Three of the Ferrari owners were already on their way. He cleared his throat. "No no no. No such thing."

She granted him mercy and took the tiniest step back. But her smouldering eyes told him what she had planned for after dinner. Maybe before dinner too.

He pinched the bridge of his nose, trying to focus. "Interviews start in half an hour. After I kill Officer Liu."

A/N: Anything further, I leave to your imagination!

Flack has a very hard time dealing with Angell's death, and I liked the idea that someone could come into his life and help him through it. By no means has Juliana gotten him to "move on" from Angell's death. He will always miss Angell. But his day with Juliana was fun and he was able to feel like he wasn't betraying Angell's memory.

Personally, I don't think that they would work out in the long term. Their relationship starts based on physical and sexual attraction. Fundamentally, they are incompatible. Juliana loves routines and wouldn't handle Flack's constantly changing schedule well. Flack has been canonically established to like tough women who can fend for themselves (see Angell and Lovato). Juliana laid down to die because she thought it was her time and deep down Flack would see this as too great of a personality trait to overlook. I think they would break up eventually, but not without adding some positive experiences to each others' lives first.

P.S. I am not Dutch and I sincerely apologize to anyone who is Dutch if Juliana is horribly incorrect as a character. Please write me if you have any experience or input on the Dutch, I would love to hear your opinion.
