Chapter 1: Merging of The Future and Past

(Princess Peach's castle)

The door to an old attic was opened and letting in a small crack of light into the room. Shortly after, Toad slowly walks into the dark attic.

Toad- You feel that draft? There's a hole somewhere in the wall and it's letting in cold air through the castle.

Toad turned towards where a looming shadow was shaking and shivering. Turns out it was Luigi cowering by the door.

Luigi- Toad, did you really have to drag me up here to this spooky and dusty old attic?

Toad- Sorry, I guess it is a bet creepy in here.

Then Toad walks over to the window and opens up the curtains, making the room a bit brighter.

Toad- That should do it, now that we can see. Now, where is that draft coming from?

Luigi and Toad took a look around the room, but then Toad spotted something above a large bookshelf.

Toad- Aha! There it is!

Luigi- That's pretty big for a hole.

Toad- It's pretty high up…and my legs are pretty short…I don't think I can reach it by myself, Luigi.

Luigi- Alright, I'll go up there and see for myself.

(Toad Town 1,000 years ago)

In the distant past, Marco and Loewy, the original Super Mario Brothers and ancestors of Mario and Luigi, were strolling along Toad Town. Marco still having his father's sword sheathed and strapped to his hip.

Marco- Another cheerful day, I see…

Loewy- It sure is, Marco! But what's wrong with it?

Marco- It's been six months since we've defeated Tabuu…but everything has been so…quiet as of late…

Loewy- We did just save our entire world from a god of extraordinary power. Maybe all the badies are too scared to face us since we've defeated Tabuu.

Marco- You think King Slicor would give up his desire to take over the Mushroom Kingdom?

Loewy- I guess you have a point, but he was part of that rumble. He might still be recovering after that epic battle. I mean, Chaos and the rest of the team have been trying to recover since then. But let's enjoy this piece while we still can.

Marco- You're right, Loewy. This peace and quiet time is well deserved.

Marco and Loewy continued walking towards the market in Toad Town. But little did Marco and Loewy know, something unexpected was about to happen to them…

(Princess Peach's attic present time)

Luigi had jumped up on one shelf and was about to jump to the bookshelf where the hole in the wall was just underneath. But before Luigi made the jump, he saw a mouse scurry out of that hole.

Luigi- YIKES!

Toad- What's wrong, Luigi?

Luigi- I just saw a mouse rush by!

Toad- A mouse? I must've missed it. Anyway, you're not scared of a little mouse, are you? Please finish checking out the hole in the wall.

Luigi- (Sigh)…alright…

Luigi jumped to the bookshelf and took a look inside the hole. But as soon as Luigi peeked into the hole in the wall, he heard Toad screaming.

Toad- HELP!

Luigi turned around and saw that mouse he saw before chasing Toad around the attic. Eventually, Toad ran up and jumped on the bookshelf Luigi was standing on. Toad almost knocked Luigi off the bookshelf at the same time. Luigi regained his balance and turned to look at Toad.

Luigi- What's the big idea, Toad?! You almost knocked me off this damn bookshelf!

Toad- Uh…Luigi…you do know the mouse is standing behind you…

Luigi slowly turned around and saw the mouse. Luigi jumped in shock and fell from the bookshelf and faceplanted onto the floor. But as soon as Luigi got up, the dust accumulated around his face and was giving Luigi's nose a strange feeling.

Luigi- Aaaa….aaaa….aaaa….CHOOOOO!

The force of the sneeze caused Luigi to crash into the bookshelf again. When Luigi crashed into the bookshelf, the mouse ran away and Toad fell back onto the floor. However…that wasn't the only thing that fell down. A large red book leaned over as it teetered from the edge of the bookshelf.

Toad- Luigi, does that book look…

Before Toad could finish, the book fell and landed on Luigi's head.

Luigi- Owch! Shit! Why does this always happen to me?!

Toad- Snap out of it, Luigi! That book is doing something weird!

Luigi and Toad looked at the book. It was lying open on the floor, but all of its pages were blank for some reason. But there was a noticeable light coming from it.

Luigi- What the hell…

(Toad Town 1,000 years ago)

Marco and Loewy were browsing through the market while all the other Toads were having a pleasant day.

Toad at the fruit stand- Well, if it isn't our brave heroes! What can I get for you Super Mario Brothers today?

Marco- Let me just see what you have in stock and I'll let you know.

Loewy- That cantaloupe looks juicy today…

Suddenly, the entire town began to shake so abruptly like there was an earthquake. Loewy clung to one of the building and noticeable cracks appeared in the part of the building under his grip.

Loewy- MARCO! What's going on?!

Marco was hoping on one foot while trying to keep his balance.

Marco- I…don't…know…

Then a bright light shined and completely engulfed the entire Mushroom Kingdom.

(Back at Princess Peach's attic in the present time)

Luigi and Toad were still staring at that book as the light shining from it got brighter and brighter. Eventually, the light burst as hundreds of what looked like Toads, Goombas, Koopas, and others erupted out of the book. The roof of the castle popped right off as all the lifeforms that were launched from the book were scattering all over the Mushroom Kingdom.

Luigi- What just happened…?

Toad- I'm not sure.

Suddenly, Luigi and Toad noticed there was a moving figure in the room near where they were standing. When Luigi and Toad turned around, they saw a young woman lying on the ground. She looked very similar to Princess Peach, only her dress appeared to be a different color. She struggled to get up and held her head with her right hand.

Princess Amethyst- Oh…my head…everything keeps spinning…

Toad- Uh…Princess Peach…?

Princess Amethyst- …What are you saying…I'm…Princess Amethyst…

Princess Amethyst eventually pulled herself together and realized she was in an unfamiliar location.

Princess Amethyst- Huh…what's going on?! Where am I? Who are you two? And why do you look like Loewy?

Luigi- Who's Loewy?

Toad- This is very strange…

Luigi- I think we need to show this to Mario.

(Castle Koopa in Dark Land)

Kamek walked into Bowser's throne room where Bowser was sitting on his throne.

Bowser- Kamek, what's the status on our plans to invade the Mushroom Kingdom?

Kamek- Well sir…it's trucking along and…

Bowser jumped from his throne and stomped on the ground after he landed.

Bowser- What kind of progress report is that?! Speed it up! Get it done!

Kamek- Y-yes, sir!

Bowser- And I want you to nip this little Mario problem at the bud! Tell the other minions to hunt those retards down and destroy them!

Kamek (mutters under his breath)- Sheesh, would it kill you to say please?

Then Kamek heard what sounded like Bowser's roar coming from behind him. Kamek jumped as soon as he heard it and he quickly dropped to his knees.

Kamek- A thousand apologies, your highness! I was only talking to myself!

Voice that sounded similar to Bowser's- Where the hell am I?!

Kamek- …has his highness taken up ventriloquism?

Kamek turned around and was shocked at what he saw.

Kamek- My word!

There stood a giant monstrous Koopa King that looked very similar to Bowser.

Slicor Koopa- What the heck just happened? This doesn't look like my castle. But it does still scream "Evil Koopa King" and I do like that! GWAHAHAHAHA!

Kamek- But…but…but…

Then Bowser noticed Slicor and began walking up to him.

Bowser- Hey! Who the **** is this guy and how'd he get in my castle?!

Then Slicor noticed Bowser and began walking towards him as well. Eventually, Kamek was completely sandwiched between the two and Kamek struggled to get loose.

Bowser and Slicor (at the same time)- Who the **** is this guy?!

Kamek- My eyes must be playing tricks on me! There's two Master Bowsers?!

Bowser- I don't know how you sneaked in, but get out! This is MY castle, you flimsy knockoff!

Slicor Koopa- Oh, puh-lease! I happen to be the all mighty Koopa King! If anyone's the knockoff, it's you, asshole!

Bowser- Even your insults are knockoffs! Get out before I rearrange your face!

Slicor Koopa- I'd like to see you try!

Bowser and Slicor pressed their faces up against each other's and it looked like fire was building up in both of their mouths.

Bowser and Slicor Koopa (at the same time)- Grrrrrrrrr…

Then Bowser and Slicor jumped at each other and a cartoonish scrap cloud appeared where the two Koopa Kings were beating each other up. Kamek narrowly got away from getting in the middle and tried to calm himself down.

Random Goomba- Master Bowser!

A Goomba rushed in during all of this and was a little surprised at what he just saw.

Random Goomba- Uh…Master Bowser…

Then Bowser and Slicor stopped fighting for a moment, but they both looked like they had been beaten to a pulp. Bowser had blood coming from the left side of his nose and Slicor looked like his jaw was slightly out of place.

Bowser and Slicor Koopa (at the same time)- What is it?! Can't you see I'm busy?!

Random Goomba- Uh…sorry to interrupt…Just, uh…go back to whatever it was you're doing…

Then Bowser and Slicor resumed to beating each other up.

Kamek- Master Bowser is…well…occupied at the moment. Can I help you?

Random Goomba- There's a flurry of strange Toads and minions pouring down from all over the Mushroom Kingdom!

Kamek- Say what now?!

Random Goomba- A whole bunch of them seemed to have been launched from Princess Peach's castle. They just appeared in the Mushroom Kingdom all of a sudden. But the strangest part is they all seem to act like they come from a completely different era in time. Like they're from the past or something. Maybe at least a 1,000 years ago.

Kaster- I see, this is starting to make some sense. I did hear about a magic time book.

Kamek almost jumped when he heard Kaster's voice behind him. He turned around to see another Magikoopa who looked almost just like him.

Kamek- Who the hell are you?!

Kaster- I'm Kaster, Magikoopa and second in command to King Slicor Koopa. And I take it, his impulsiveness is in that scrap happening over there…

Kamek- Yes…as is his impulsiveness, King Bowser Koopa. But what's this about a magic time book?

Kaster- There was rumor that a book which has the power to link two separate time periods together was hidden in the Mushroom Kingdom. I'm guessing this is what's happening and why we're all here. But I don't know if we've traveled from the past of future.

Kamek- You said Slicor Koopa?

Kaster- Yes.

Kamek- Slicor Koopa ruled Dark Land 1,000 years ago. In short, you traveled from the past.

Bowser Jr's voice- What's the big idea, copycat?!

Kamek and Kaster looked towards the other end of the room and saw Bowser Jr. with another young Koopa who looked like a smaller version of Slicor Koopa.

Kamek- And I guess this explains our situation…

Slicor Jr- What's?! It's pretty obvious that YOU'RE the copycat! That said, you picked a pretty nice style to jack!

Bowser Jr- Thanks. You know, it's like looking in a funhouse mirror. Crazy! But anyway, you showed up at just the right time. Things were getting boring around here.

Slicor Jr- The name's Slicor Jr and my papa's king of the Koopas! Please to meetcha!

Bowser Jr- I'm Bowser Jr and my papa is the real king of the Koopas!

Kamek and Kaster (at the same time)- My head is starting to hurt…

Then Kamek and Kaster narrowly avoided a blast of fire that came from either Bowser or Slicor as the two Koopa Kings continued with their little rumble.

Kamek- Master Bowser!

Kaster- Master Slicor!

Kamek and Kaster (at the same time)- Please calm down! Hey, can we get a little assistance here?!

Then the scrap cloud which was created from Bowser and Slicor's fighting reached over Kamek and Kaster.

Kamek- Hey! OWCH! Leave me out of this!

Kaster- Please, not the face! OWCH! I think you just knocked out my tooth, Master Slicor!

(Princess Peach's throne room)

Mario, Princess Peach, Starlow, and Toadsworth were standing in the throne room when they suddenly heard a loud noise coming from upstairs.

Mario- What was that?!

Princess Peach- You don't think it's Bowser again?

Then they heard a few Toads in the hallway screaming.

Random Toad- Oh my gosh!

Second Random Toad- NO WAY!

Princess Peach- Huh? What seems to be the matter?

Then Luigi opens the door and lets this strange lady who looks very similar to Princess Peach into the throne room.

Mario- MAMA MAI! Am I seeing double here?!

Then Princess Peach looks at Princess Amethyst and Princess Amethyst does the same. They were both surprised as to how much alike they looked. Right down to every last feature. The only difference was the color of their dresses. The two princesses approached each other.

Princess Peach and Princess Amethyst (at the same time)- Are you…me?

Mario and Starlow rushed up to Luigi.

Starlow- Luigi, do you have any idea what the hell is going on?!

Mario- Why are there two princesses?!

Luigi- I'm not sure. This strange book fell over and a whole bunch of Toads and other creatures ejected right out of it before scattering across the Mushroom Kingdom. Then Toad and I found this lady. She looks just like Princess Peach, but she says her name is Princess Amethyst.

Princess Peach- Princess Amethyst?

Starlow- You know that name?

Princess Peach- She's a previous ruler of the Mushroom Kingdom, but her reign was 1,000 years ago.

Princess Amethyst- Wait! Are you saying I'm in a different time period?!

Princess Peach- It looks that way.

Mario- Luigi, you said this happened when you knocked over a book?

Luigi- Yes…

Mario- Show it to me!

Luigi hands Mario a strange red book. Mario opened it, but the pages were all blank.

Starlow- I know what that is! It's a magic timeline book. It has the power to link two periods in time together. In short, merging the past and future.

Mario- But do you know how to undo this?

Starlow- I think you need to find everything that was taken from past and brought to our time and then put them back into the book.

Princess Amethyst- But I think there's one problem with that. I'm afraid I wasn't the only one who time traveled through that book. Many of my subjects were pulled in with me and I'm afraid I don't know where they could be. The poor Toads! They must all be so scared and confused, being in a distant future they know nothing about!

Princess Peach put one hand on Princess Amethyst's shoulder.

Princess Peach- Don't you worry! I'm sure Mario and Luigi are more than happy to find them all for you. Right, Mario and Luigi?

Mario- I'm on it, Princess!

Luigi- Uh…this seem like a lot of work and…

Starlow- Of course you'll do it, Luigi! We'll never fix this mess if you don't!

Toadsworth- Don't you worry, princess of the past. We'll take good care of you and the Toads of the past until we can send you back to your time.

Princess Amethyst- Oh…well thank you!

Mario- Come on, Luigi. We got a long search for us to do.

After Mario and Luigi left, Princess Amethyst looked as though she was pondering something.

Princess Peach- Is something the matter?

Princess Amethyst- Oh, nothing really! It's just…Mario and Luigi…they actually remind me of another pair of brothers from my time. They're names are Marco and Loewy. And they also call themselves the Super Mario Brothers. I wonder if they're related somehow?

(In a cave somewhere)

Marco and Loewy were lying on the floor of a cave. Marco began to stir as water drops from a stalactite above him kept dripping water on his face. Marco got up and rubbed his head.

Marco- Mama mia! What the hell just happened?!

Marco noticed Loewy was lying next to him but not awake.

Marco- Hey! This is no time to be taking a nap, bro!

Marco shook Loewy a bit in an attempt to wake him up.

Loewy- (Yawn)…just five more minutes, mommy…I won't be late for school…I promise…ZZZZZZ…

Marco- Ok…you leave me no choice…

Then Marco pinched Loewy in the rear and Loewy jumped and hit the ceiling of the cave. Loewy hit his head on a stalagmite before crashing back down to the ground.

Loewy- What was that for, Marco?!

Marco- Sorry, but…I think we're lost…

Loewy looked around and didn't recognize at all where he was.

Loewy- Where are we?

Marco- Don't know where or how we got here. Last thing I remember is the bright flash in the sky that appeared above Toad Town.

Then Loewy quickly turned to look over his shoulder.

Marco- What are you doing, Loewy?

Loewy- This is usually the part where Kyrin pops right behind me while at the same time startling me before informing us about the situation.

Marco- Loewy…Kyrin is still…you know…after what happened with Tabuu…

Loewy- Right…I forgot about that.

Marco- Come on. We need to see if we can find Princess Amethyst. Making sure she's safe should be our top priority.

Loewy- Assuming we can keep ourselves safe. I've got a feeling we're not prepared for whatever awaits us.
