Chapter 2: When Two Mario's Meet
(Back at Peach's castle)
After searching around the castle for nearly an hour, Mario and Luigi eventually found eight Toad's from the past in the castle and brought them to the throne room.
Princess Amethyst- I see you've found the Toad's that also got pulled into this time period. Thank goodness you're all alright.
All of the Toad's from the past immediately ran up to Princess Amethyst like a child being reunited with their mother.
Toad from the past- Princess Amethyst!
Second Toad from the past- Waaah!
Third Toad from the past- I was so scared!
Princess Amethyst- Aw, don't cry! You're all safe now!
Starlow- Wow, they seem to love Princess Amethyst as much as the Toads of this time period love Princess Peach.
Princess Peach- They must all still be in shock over appearing in this time.
Fourth Toad from the past- That's part of it…
Fifth Toad from the past- But actually, there's one more thing…
Toad from the past- There were so many more of us that got sucked into place…
All eight Toad's from the past (at the same time)- And they're all missing!
Princess Amethyst- Oh dear…
Sixth Toad from the past- And not only that, but we saw some of Slicor Koopa's minions come out of that book too.
Seventh Toad from the past- Could this mean Slicor is here too?
Mario- Slicor Koopa…why does that name sound familiar…?
Princess Peach- Is this Slicor like Bowser? A mean Koopa King who bullies everyone to get his way?
Princess Amethyst- Wow…you pretty much described Slicor Koopa perfectly.
Princess Peach- Oh no! If this Slicor Koopa did come to our time and he meets up with Bowser…I really don't want to think of what could happen…
Eighth Toad from the past- But do you think Marco and Loewy also got pulled here? Maybe they can beat Slicor like they always do when he tries to kidnap you.
Mario- Wait! Marco…did you say Marco?
Eighth Toad from the past- Yes. Marco Mario and his brother Loewy, also known as the Super Mario Brothers, have defended the Mushroom Kingdom from all threats. At least…in our time. In fact, the two of you look almost identical to Marco and Loewy.
Starlow- Mario…you ok? You're looking like you've seen a ghost.
Luigi- Mario…do you think…
Mario- That it's the same Marco Mario that Kyrin told us about…
Princess Amethyst- Kyrin?!
Mario- Yeah, Kyrin is a friend of ours who helps us from time to time.
Princess Amethyst- It's just…Marco and Loewy also made friends with a god named Kyrin…but he…
Princess Peach- Something the matter, Amethyst?
Princess Amethyst- It's nothing! Right now, we should focus on finding my lost subjects lost in this time.
Mario- You're right, princess of the past. If we want to return you all to your correct time, we need to find everyone and everything that came from you time and put them back in that magic book.
Princess Peach- This may be your greatest challenge yet…I mean, this will be like a needle in a haystack.
Starlow- Not to worry, because I'll be going with them. Come on, Mario and Luigi!
Mario, Luigi, and Starlow left the throne room to begin their search.
Princess Amethyst- Now that I think about it…Mario and Luigi really do bare a strong resemblance to Marco and Loewy. If they are in this time as well…maybe they can help Mario and Luigi.
Princess Peach- I take it they're just as skilled in battle as Mario and Luigi?
Princess Amethyst- Comparing what I know about Marco and Loewy to what I've heard about Mario and Luigi…could be. I know they can take care of themselves better than the Toads from my time confused and lost in this time, but I sure hope they're alright too.
(At a cave somewhere)
Marco and Loewy were still wondering around the cave they woke up in the last chapter as they tried to find a way out. Loewy was clinging to the back of Marco as they moved though the cave.
Loewy- This place is a little spooky…
Marco- Probably because it's unfamiliar territory for us. The Zombie Caravane where Azra's zombie friend, Goreytops lives isn't so bad once you get to know the zombies living there.
Loewy- Speak for yourself…
Shortly after, a bunch of Goomba's jumped out and surrounded Marco and Loewy.
Goomba- It's the Mario Brothers! Get them!
Second Goomba- Hold on…are you sure that's Mario and Luigi?
Goomba- Red, green, and matching mustaches.
Second Goomba- But these guys seem…different…but I don't know where to put my finger on it.
Third Goomba- I agree. No plumber's clothes, not hats, and since when does Mario carry a sword?
Goomba- Who cares! We defeat the Mario Brothers, Bowser will reward us!
Loewy- Huh…what are these Goomba's talking about?
Marco- Not sure, but if these Goomba's want a fight…
Marco slightly unsheathes his sword by tapping the handle with his thumb.
Marco- …I say we give it to them…
A Goomba charged for Marco, but Marco easily dodged the attack and punched the Goomba into a wall in the cave. Another tried to attack Marco from behind, but Marco jumped over the Goomba and landed a jump attack as a counter. Another Goomba tried to head bonk Loewy, but Loewy dodged it and did a jump attack on the Goomba. Two more Goomba's tried to jump Marco and Loewy from behind, but Marco quickly took hold of his sword and swung it behind him. The two Goomba's fell to the ground after getting struck with Marco's sword as Marco put it back in the sheathe strapped to his hip.
Marco- I'll admit, that was an entertaining distraction, but we still have to find our way out of this cave and make sure Princess Amethyst is alright. Come on, Loewy!
Marco began walking away and Loewy tried to rush after him.
Loewy- Hey! Wait for me, Marco!
Goomba- Marco…Loewy…not…Mario and Luigi…who were those guys…
(Later somewhere else in the cave)
Marco and Loewy finally found an exit to the cave and the sun was shining through opening.
Loewy- Marco, there's the way out!
Loewy began to rush towards the exit, but Marco tried to call out to Loewy.
Marco- Loewy, don't rush! It might not be…
Before Marco could finish, Loewy crossed through the exit, but there appeared to be no ground below his feet. Loewy quickly turned his head at the audience and waved a bit before falling down the cliff and into the ground below.
Marco- LOEWY!
Marco looked down and saw what looked like a meadow below as he scaled down the cliff to go after Loewy.
Marco- Where are my team when you need them…
(Meanwhile at the entrance to Pleasant Meadow)
Mario, Luigi, and Starlow walked out of Toad Town to begin their search for anything from the past that came to this time.
Mario- You sure some of the Toad's would be here, Luigi?
Luigi- This was the direction from the castle I saw everything that came out blew towards after they erupted out of the book. It would make sense to start here.
Starlow- I guess you do have a point for once, Luigi.
Suddenly, two Goomba's jumped out in front of them.
Goomba- Look! Isn't that Marco and Loewy?
Second Goomba- I don't know. They're not wearing the same clothes I remember Marco and Loewy wearing and doesn't Marco always have his sword by his side? I see no sword in this guy in red.
Goomba- Still, King Slicor will love us if we defeat them!
Luigi- What are they talking about?
Starlow- I think those Goomba's are from the past like Amethyst and those Toads who came out of that book. So to them, they think you're the Mario Brothers from their time.
Mario- We really don't have time for this!
Goomba- Too bad! I've got a duty to defeat any threat to King Slicor!
The Goomba tried to charge for Mario, but Mario countered with a jump attack. The second Goomba tried to charge Luigi, but Luigi punched the Goomba and knocked it to the ground.
Starlow- I guess this confirms that not everything that came from the past is exactly friendly.
Luigi- All the more reason to return everyone back to their own time.
Mario- But now I'm wondering…is he here in this time period as well?
Starlow- Uh…who are you talking about, Mario?
Mario- My ancestor…the one Tabuu and Kyrin keep telling everyone about…the one who led the original team that imprisoned Tabuu 1,000 years ago…
Starlow- Not sure. Princess Amethyst and the others were from a 1,000 years ago and I guess it would make sense.
Luigi- Next you're gonna say Tabuu from the past came here too?
Starlow- Please don't joke about that. One Tabuu is bad enough and he's worse that this situation.
Luigi- Fine, let's just continue with searching for…
Before Luigi could finish, he tripped over the Goomba from the past as it was trying to get back up. Luigi stumbled fell off a nearby cliff.
Mario- LUIGI!
Starlow- Can't say I'm surprised Luigi would goof up like this.
Mario turned and glared at Starlow for a bit.
Starlow- Sorry, but this does happen around Luigi frequently. But I guess we better see if he's alright.
(Later in another part of Pleasant Meadow)
After climbing down the cliff Luigi fell off of, Mario and Starlow split up to try and find Luigi. Mario walked around, but Luigi was nowhere to be seen.
Mario- Luigi! Luigi!
At first, Mario heard the echo of his calls for Luigi, but he eventually heard something else calling in the distance. And oddly, it sounded like Mario's voice.
Echoed call- Loewy! Loewy!
At first, Mario thought it was his own voice echoing in the meadow, but the fact that the voice was calling a different name made Mario believe he was not alone in this area. Regardless, Mario continued to try to figure out where Luigi was. But while Mario was walking while looking in one direction, Mario and someone else who was walking around this meadow bumped into each other and they both dropped to the ground. Mario didn't get a good look at who he just ran into, but he seemed about the same height and weight as Mario was.
Mario- Hey! Would you watch where you're go…
As Mario got himself back up, he saw a man who looked almost identical to him rubbing his head as he was pulling himself together after the collision. This man who looked like Mario had the same mustache on his face and was wearing red clothing similar to Mario. However, he wasn't dressed like a plumber, didn't have a hat on his head like Mario does, and there was a sheathed sword strapped to his left hip. Eventually, this doppelganger of Mario stopped rubbing his head and noticed Mario directly in front of him. And this man who looked like Mario seemed just as surprised as Mario was.
Mario and Marco (at the same time)- What the…WHO ARE YOU?!
And the fact that they had the same voice surprised the two of them even more. But before they could do or say anything else, a bunch of Goomba's jumped out of bushes behind where Mario was.
Goomba- There's Mario! Now's our…wha?!
Second Goomba- Another Mario?!
Then another bunch of Goomba's jumped out of the bushes behind where Marco was.
Goomba from the past- That's Marco! Now's our…wha?!
Second Goomba from the past- Another Marco?!
Both Mario and Marco quickly got back on their feet and took a stance to ready themselves for the Goomba's attack. Mario and Marco also noticed they were standing back to back with one another. Both Mario and Marco looked at each other and realized they other was not a threat to the other. They both gave each other a light nod before they began fending off the Goomba's attack. Two Goomba's charged for Mario, but he jumped over them both and countered with a jump attack on each. Then Mario punched a third Goomba and knocked it into a tree nearby. Meanwhile, Marco jumped on a Goomba that tried to attack him. Then three Goomba's jumped into the air and tried to bonk Marco. Marco quickly drew his sword and knocked all the Goomba's away from him and to the ground. Once all the Goomba's were defeated, Mario and Marco returned their attention towards one another. They both look alike, they both have the same fighting style, and they both seemed just as strong as the other. Marco sheathed his sword and turned to face Mario.
Marco- You…fight well…
Mario- Thanks…so do you. Who are you, anyway?
Marco- My name is Marco Mario, a knight of Princess Amethyst and defender of the Mushroom Kingdom.
Mario- Marco Mario…hold on! Are you the same Marco that Kyrin told me about?!
Marco- Wait! Wait! You know…Kyrin…
