Chapter 3: Double the Mario Brothers

Mario had finished explaining several things to Marco Mario. About how that magic time book brought everyone and everything from Marco's time 1,000 years into the future, how Mario is the current defender of the Mushroom Kingdom, and even about how Mario knows Kyrin.

Marco- That's one interesting story. So me and everyone in the Mushroom Kingdom are now suddenly in the distant future?

Mario- Pretty much.

Marco- I honestly can't believe what's happening before my eyes. But at least Princess Amethyst is safe at the castle. Even if it's the castle of your time.

Mario- And I can't believe I'm talking to my ancestor that Tabuu and Kyrin keep reminding me of that defeated Tabuu all those years ago.

Marco (mutters)- …the promise I asked Kyrin to make…

Mario- Say something?

Marco- It's nothing! Say, you said you were looking for your brother?

Mario- Yeah. His name is Luigi. We got separated while looking for those that came from your time that are probably lost and confused about suddenly appearing in another time period.

Marco- Funny, because me and my brother, Loewy got separated before I crossed paths with you.

Suddenly, Starlow flew in and approached Mario and Marco.

Starlow- Had no luck finding Luigi and…

Starlow noticed Marco standing next to Mario and her jaw dropped at the sight of him.

Starlow- But…but…but…uh…Mario…why is there another Mario…

Mario- Starlow, this is Marco Mario. My ancestor from 1,000 years ago.

Starlow- No way! You're the legendary hero to save our world from being destroyed by that horrible monster, Tabuu?!

Marco- Yes, I did lead my friends to victory against Tabuu, but I don't really think I'm deserving of such grand praise. I'm just a knight from the Mushroom Kingdom who wants to protect his friends.

Starlow- Regardless, you and the team you've assembled are hailed as the greatest heroes in the history books. And I can definitely see the resemblance between you and Mario. Your faces are almost completely the same. Anyway, I didn't find where Luigi stumbled off too, but I think I heard his voice coming the west end. I was worried it could be a trap so I came to asked Mario to check since he's strong enough fight the bad guys.

Mario- Where?

(In another part of Pleasant Meadow)

Starlow led Mario and Marco to large tree in the middle of the meadow.

Starlow- It was right around here where I thought I heard Luigi's voice.

Marco- If I might ask, what does Luigi sound like?

Luigi's voice- That you Mario?!

Mario- Like that.

Marco- Sounds like Loewy's voice.

Mario- Luigi, where are you?

Luigi's voice- Up here…

Mario and Marco looked up and saw Luigi hanging from a tree branch by his underwear as he was getting a wedgie was the same time.

Mario- Luigi…how did you even manage…

Marco- That your bro? He actually reminds me of my brother, Loewy.

Mario- Can you help me get Luigi out of this?

Marco- Sure thing. Can you give me a boost?

Mario held his hands above his head to help Marco jump a little higher. Marco drew his sword and cut the tree branch Luigi's underwear was clinging to. Luckily, Mario managed to catch Luigi before he hit the ground.

Mario- You ok, Luigi?

Luigi- I'll be fine. But Mario…who is that…

Luigi points at Marco as Marco was sheathing his sword away.

Mario- Oh…this is Marco.

Marco- Hi.

Marco briefly waved his hand towards Luigi.

Mario- Luigi…this is our ancestor…

Luigi- You mean he's the one Tabuu won't shut up about for whooping his ass 1,000 years ago?!

Starlow- Apparently.

Luigi- I figured someone of his legacy would be more muscular looking.

Marco- I still have to find my brother who is also probably lost.

Luigi- Hang on! While I was stuck in the tree, I think I did see two leg wobbling around near the pond.

(At the pond in Pleasant Meadow)

Mario, Luigi, Marco, and Starlow arrived and saw the bottom half of a person sticking out of the ground. The legs of whoever was half buried were shaking around like crazy.

Marco- That's Loewy alright. How did Loewy even…never mind. Mario, Luigi, can you help me pull Loewy out of there?

Mario and Luigi nodded. Mario and Marco grabbed Loewy's right leg while Luigi and Starlow grabbed Loewy's left leg. It took some work, but they eventually managed to pull the other half of Loewy's body from out of the ground.

Loewy- Thanks, Marco. Don't know what I'd do without…

Then Loewy noticed Mario and Luigi standing next to Marco.

Loewy- Marco…why are there two of you and another me?

Marco- Because we're in the future.

Loewy- Uh…I'm really confused here…

Starlow- Wow…this Loewy character acts just as clueless as Luigi does.

Luigi- Hey!

Mario- It's a long story. Where do I even begin.

Mario, Luigi, and Starlow managed to explain the situation to Loewy like how Mario explained everything to Marco.

Loewy- 1,000 years in the future…can't say I've experienced weirder.

Starlow- And it appears that the only way to fix this issue is to find everything that came from your time and return it to that book.

Marco and Loewy looked at each other for a moment. Loewy lightly nodded before Marco turned to face Mario and Luigi.

Marco- If that's our only way of returning to our own time, perhaps Loewy and I should accompany you on this journey.

Starlow- Are you crazy?! You're in a distant future with customs you know nothing about! The world has changed over 1,000 years.

Marco- All the more reason to get everyone back to our correct time period.

Loewy- We are Mario Brothers too.

Marco- As you said, the only way for us to return home is to return everything from our time back to the book. I can't simply do nothing during a moment of crisis.

Mario- He has a point there, Starlow. I don't see why.

Mario extended his hand over to Marco and Marco grabbed it with his hand and they shook hands.

Mario- It should be interesting to see my ancestor in action.

Marco- Likewise to seeing why Kyrin chose you as my successor.

(1,000 years ago)

Where the Mushroom Kingdom once stood, now lays an empty space. Nothing as far as the eye could see except empty land. Suddenly, what looked like the nose of a wolf was pressed near one part of the ground and the sound of sniffing could be heard. However, it was not a wolf, but a young Hylian swordsman wearing the pelt of a gray wolf sniffing the area. Eventually, he was approached from behind by a white hedgehog with a cyan blue scarf around his neck and a young genie in a sky-blue dancer outfit.

Chaos- You do realize you're not really a wolf and that your nose can't actually pick up the cent of another living thing?

Wolf- At least I'm trying something!

Azra- So have we. Chaos and I were sending a message to Kyrin about this sudden disappearance.

Chaos- He hasn't responded yet, but hopefully he will.

Nearby, a large gorilla had taken a large tree and began stuffing it into his mouth. A female Star Warrior with a red bow on her head and a gray Tasmanian tiger with a scar over his right eye looked like they were trying to calm down the large gorilla.

Kimberly- Shit! King Kong is stress feeding again!

King Kong- King Kong worried about Mario Brothers! What if they hurt?!

King Kong stuffed the whole tree into his mouth and began chewing the tree before swallowing the bits he crunched in his mouth.

Simba- No reason to worry, mate! I'm sure Marco and Loewy are just fine! You can relax and stop with the stress feeding, King Kong!

Meanwhile, a young angle lands in an empty spot where Marco and Loewy's house once stood.

Icarus- My wings are tired. I need a break from flying for a bit, Lady Palutena.

Palutena (telepathically to Icarus)- But did you have to land where Marco's house used to be?

Nearby, a young prince with a red plated armor and a red cape was approached by three of his Poke'mon, a Pikachu, Charizard, and Ho-Oh.

Prince Calmly- Any luck?

Pikachu- Pika…(shakes his head)

Charizard- (Roar)… (shakes his head)

Ho-Oh- No luck on my end either, Master Calmly. I'm sorry…

Nearby, a Yoshi was running around the empty space were Princess Amethyst's castle used to be.

Ihsoy- Mario's! Mario's! Please tell Ihsoy where Mario's be?! Ihsoy miss so much!

Chaos- I know. This is quite the conundrum. In just one instant…the entire Mushroom Kingdom and everyone in it suddenly vanishes without a trace. Like it never existed. Such a thing is definitely unheard of.

Simba- Afraid the best we can do is keep searching and hopefully find a clue to what happened to Marco, Loewy, and the rest of the Mushroom Kingdom, mate.

Chaos- Alright everyone, let's split up and cover every square inch of this empty land that used to be the Mushroom Kingdom…again…

Kimberly- I wonder how many we've done this already?

Icarus- And still we've found nothing that could lead us to Marco and Loewy's whereabouts.
