Chapter 6: A Prickly Situation

(Doop Doop Dunes Grotto)

Mario, Luigi, Marco, and Loewy crash landed in these dark and dusty caverns after falling off the bridge. Starlow was just fine do to the fact she could float.

Starlow- Everyone alright?

Mario- I think that depends on your definition of alright, Starlow.

Starlow- Oh come on now! Waylaid again?! How are we ever going to make it to Bowser's Castle at this rate.

Then Marco saw a pair of legs sticking out of the ground upside-down next to him.

Marco- Loewy, did you get yourself stuck in the ground again.

Then Marco heard Loewy's voice speaking to him from behind.

Loewy- Actually, I'm over here, Marco. But I think my butt landed on a sharp pointy rock…OWCH…

Mario- It's Luigi…Marco, Loewy, help me get Luigi out of the ground.

Mario, Marco, Loewy, and Starlow pulled Luigi out of the ground. But Luigi kept coughing up a bunch of dirt and sand after that.

Luigi- (Cough)…thanks you guys…(cough)…but where are we exactly?

Starlow- I believe it's the Doop Doop Dunes Grotto, a set of underground tunnels that travel directly under the desert. But let's put on our thinking caps, fellas. Those two clearly aren't going to let us pass without a fight.

Then Mario, Luigi, Marco, Loewy, and Starlow saw the two Pokey segments in a high up ledge in the Doop Doop Dunes Grotto.

Luigi- But they're up there and we're down here.

Marco- Let's see if we can find a path in this underground cavern that can hopefully lead us up to those two Pokey's body segments.

(1,000 years ago)

There was still an empty blank space of land where the Mushroom Kingdom used to be standing while the remaining members of the original Super Mario Brothers' Team were still searching the area for the whereabouts of Marco and Loewy. Eventually, Jet Kimberly stopped dashing around in her jet Copy Ability after her stomach began to growl.

Jet Kimberly- And here I thought using one of my speed copy powers would help with the search for Marco and Loewy, but we've still gotten nowhere and I'm getting hungry.

Icarus- Didn't you just eat those two dozen strawberry shortcakes you brought all the way from Popstar less than 15 minutes ago?

Jet Kimberly- Well, I'm hungry again.

Wolf- You're always hungry since you're a bottomless pit and your power literally involves eating your opponents

Chaos- Well…it's not that much different than Ihsoy and how he always wants to keep eating.

Then King Kong sees something in the distance and from an angle, it looked like Marco's silhouette.

King Kong- Marco! King Kong find!

Then King Kong rushed over and wrapped his arms around the thing he thought was Marco.

Simba- King Kong…that's a cactus you're hugging, mate…

As soon as King Kong realized this, he jumped in pain and his butt landed on a bunch more cacti. This made King Kong jump in pain again and he began rubbing his rear on something he shouldn't have.

Azra- Is King Kong…

Prince Calmly- Rubbing his behind on a bunch of poison ivy…yes he is.

Chaos- Sucks for you, Azra! Since you're the medical specialist in the group!

Everyone else began to make church giggles at Azra while Azra glared and groaned at King Kong.

Azra- (Groan)…we had better find out what happened to Marco, Loewy, Princess Amethyst, and the rest of the Mushroom Kingdom before long…because this is testing my patience…

(Back at the Doop Doop Dunes Grotto 1,000 years later)

Mario, Luigi, Marco, Loewy, and Starlow managed to finally get to where the segments of both the Pokeys were placed.

Marco- Now that we've gotten to where the Pokeys are raising from…

Marco draws his sword.

Marco- We can bring them down to our level.

Then Marco swatted away each segment of each Pokey until both of them. After a while, the both the Pokey from the present and the Pokey from the past were lowered to four segments high and at their level. And the Pokey's were not happy about that. The Pokey from the past tried to drop its body at them, but they dodged it. Mario and Luigi each pulled out a fire flower and turned into Fire Mario and Fire Luigi as they shot multiple fireballs at the Pokey from the past. When the smoke cleared, the Pokey from the past was covered in soot before it collapsed to the ground in pieces. The Pokey from the present tried to launch its remaining segments at Marco, but Marco swatted them away with his sword. Before the Pokey could do anything else, Loewy rammed into it with his green missile attack and knocked it against the wall. Once both the Pokey's were defeated, Starlow noticed a warp pipe in the wall.

Starlow- Hey guys, I think I found a way for us to return to the surface.

(Back in the Dry-Dry Desert)

Mario, Luigi, Marco, Loewy, and Starlow arrived back by the bridge they were knocked off of in the previous chapter.

Mario- Now hopefully, we can cross this bridge without any problems.

Unfortunately, Mario spoke too soon. Because a large cannonball with Bowser's insignia on it smashed the bridge to pieces.

(Castle Koopa)

Bowser and a Goomba were standing at the controls of a large cannon.

Goomba- We destroyed the bridge, Master Bowser!

Bowser- And what about Mario and his ancestor?

Goomba- I'm sorry to report that they were not hit. But the link between your castle and the desert has been demolished!

Bowser- Hmph! Can't you grunts do anything right?! The goal was to take out MARIO! Luckily, I've planned for your incompetence! Just keep firing! We've got enough cannonballs to overcome your pathetic aim!

(Back at the Dry-Dry Desert)

While Mario, Luigi, Marco, Loewy, and Starlow were still in shock over the bridge being destroyed, another cannonball was launched. This time, it hit them and knocked them all to the ground. While Mario, Luigi, and Marco were knocked out, Ludwig, Wendy, Larry, and Roy appeared.

Roy- HAHA!

Wendy- Got the wind knocked out of your sails, didn't you?

Larry- Hold on, wasn't there a guy from the past who looked like Luigi with them?

Ludwig- He probably got crushed in the impact.

Larry- And didn't Mario's ancestor also carry a fancy looking sword with him?

Roy- He must've lost it somewhere.

Ludwig- Roy! Wendy! Larry! We gotta get these three to the secure location!

Roy- Right! Hey guys! We got a pickup for you!

Then this swarm of Koopa Football Players rushed in and grabbed Mario, Luigi, and Marco. But little did the Koopalings notice, the magic book was also dropped and lying on the ground.

Wendy- Guess that's the end of them. Well, that was easy!

As they were all about to leave, Roy saw the strange book on the ground.

Roy- What's this? A book? Guess those losers must've dropped it. I wonder if it's important.

Bowser Jr and Slicor Jr's voice- Hold on!

Then Bowser Jr and Slicor Jr rushed in and walked up to Roy.

Roy- Oh, hey there, squirts.

Bowser Jr- Don't you throw my book away! I'm gonna tell dad on you!

Roy- Uh? But I didn't even know this book was yours! Here, just take it! Just don't tell on me.

Bowser Jr and Slicor Jr picked up the magic time book. Little did they know, Loewy and Starlow were hiding behind a large cactus while Loewy was holding Marco's sword.

Loewy- This is bad! Not only do they have my brother and the future Mario Brothers, but they also got the book!

Starlow- I know! Without that book, we might never get you all back to your correct time period! We need to get it back!

Loewy- But first we rescue Marco and the others! I can't do this adventure on my own.
