Roadie Elodie
Next morning:
Elodie opened her eyes to too much sun coming through the windows. They'd forgotten to close them last night. She was flat on her back having untangled from Sabine sometime in the night. She soundlessly slipped out of bed walked to the bathroom did the all important morning pee but when she returned to bed she saw the curtains were drawn Sabine was stirring. "E. L.," Sabine's new nickname for Elodie, "babe can you set an alarm on your phone for 11:30 do not let me sleep past then cause the tour people want me in rehearsal at 1pm we'll need breakfast stuff beforehand." She said this all in a sleepy barely conscious voice that was surprisingly on it this early in the AM.
Elodie quietly answered yes grabbed her phone entered the info as requested. Sabine heard the stop of phone clicking pulled back the covers patted the bed offering it up to Elodie in an enticing while also sleepy way. Elodie put her phone back down to charge crawled back into bed as Sabine turned her face from her pillow to her. Her eyes were shut but her face was smiling. "Come sleep more with me babe". The two curled up into each other and drifted off to sleep. They woke again with the phones alarm kissed each other got up got dressed and went down to the hotel breakfast. They were met by Sabine's tour people who gave her all her final info for the show later that night then they drove her Elodie to Sabine's rehearsal with the new road band.
Elodie tucked herself into a corner and watched Sabine's process and how her music was made it was pretty amazing for her she was not only amazed by Sabine's talent musically but by her focus on arranging everything to be and sound exactly how she wanted. Elodie was awed by each musicians too they all had such a intimate connection to their instruments yet a business like focus on learning the music producing a solid product. For Elodie it was like pulling back the veil of magic to see how it's done and instead of being upset the secrets are revealed she was intrigued and her love of music and production was heightened. She started taking notes on production elements writing down her own preferences and aesthetic.
Later after rehearsal as Sabine Elodie we're being driven back to the hotel for dinner then prep for the show Sabine turned to Elodie asked her about her opinion on rehearsal. "Ok, so what did you think do we should ok I mean as good or solid as Jake the boys back home?" Elodie said yes but gave no details so Sabine said, "El please I feel a bit lost here no one really knows me on this tour, without the guys I'm feeling a bit lost I need some real feedback. I mean you know my music. I see you at our shows singing along I know you know music I just need someone to tell me if this is sounding like well ME my sound or if it sounds robotic and lab produced."
She grabbed Elodie's hand and gazed at her earnestly. Elodie hesitantly responded, "Well, yes it does sound like you, it's just maybe to me it feels hesitant like everything hasn't settled yet like everyone is a bit to tense. Maybe they wanna please you you wanna please them sound good so there is a bit stiffness there. Um, well like in Stay on the Line. Everyone needs to layback a on the choruses like that pause in the music when your singing the chorus "Stay on the Line/ Pause/ I just wanna hear your breath/ Stay on the Line/ Pause/ Until you come. They just need to hit those pauses better for a fuller impact then jam outa bit more when you improv. I think it might be something that time working together will just sort out. But I do think the timing on EVE is off. Like they are behind you or you are behind them. Maybe during sound check run that song so that they can have a fresh feel for it." Elodie finished to a stunned Sabine gaping a bit in silence.
"Wow", Sabine said. "Oh god no was that too much do you hate me oh god I didn't mean to be so critical it's just that you asked I did take some notes ..." Sabine cut her off with a kiss pulled back, "No, no that's exactly what I wanted someone who knows to evaluate things from outside of it to help make it better. Yes babe that's it your totally right." The two kisses again Sabine asked, "can you do this at that show too take notes then help us walk through them in rehearsal the next day?! That would really firm all this up for me." "Sure!" Elodie said leaning back in her seat with relief and excitement. "Oh damn this is gonna be great my girl helping out on tour doing this behind the scenes," Sabine reached over kissing Elodie gently and pulling her to her putting her hands all over her body. Elodie responded by swinging herself over on top of Sabine kissing her neck as Sabine gripped her ass then the car stopped right as Elodie was hopping off Sabine the door opened and their driver said, "The hotel ladies, I'll be back for you at 6pm for sound check". The two laughed grabbed their stuff and headed into the hotel holding hands still giggling.
Later before the show started Sabine Elodie were in Sabine's dressing room at the venue Sabine was doing some elaborate hair makeup while Elodie stared at her quietly singing the song on their Spotify list. "You know El you do have a pretty voice I might just have to pull you on stage some time!" "Oh god oh god no I would be terrified terrible it would ruin everything." Elodie cried out. "Hum wow now given that reaction you either have a phobia or methinks the lady doth protest too much!" They laugh a knock at the door tells them Sabine has 5 mins before the show. She finishes getting ready opening the door to go catch up with the rest of her new band as they all head towards the stage.
Elodie is left in the dressing room unsure if she should follow but does. She stands in the back on the side of the stage as everyone is crowding around for last min pep session. The band is announced everyone but Sabine rushes out on stage and pick up their instruments. They start playing the intro to King of Shadow and before Sabine walks on stage she kisses Elodie hard on her cheek leaving a big lipstick print and whispers, "thanks #1 fan I'm overjoyed to share this with you" and then saunters on stage to applause and wolf whistles, picks up the mic and breaths, "this is for you" while looking at Elodie.
