Warning

This story will have a lot of angst. I'll be exploring many topics deeply and there will be your resident comedian at stand by as well, so a mix of comedy, angst and romance. This idea has been in my head for a looong time, so please do bear with me if it goes over your head in the starting. I'll try to explain I'm the following chapters.

There are a few things I've changed around.

1. UA isn't a high school, but a college. So minimum age is 18...there's a reason this is M rated you know. No explicit scenes but there will be a lot implied.

2. I will mention a lot of places that aren't specified in BNHA itself. I'll be constructing a lore myself which is NOT cannon.

3. There will be pairings but please do not kill me if I don't support your OTP.

4. I'll be trying to explain Quirks itself, so if there is something that blatantly goes against cannon lore, my bad, You can either PM me or just put it in the comments and I'll try to explain or rectify it within the following chapters.

5. Uploads will most likely be once a week, as my main focus is still my original novel, Convergence of Fate. It's been on hold for some time now because the gods decided they wanted to see how much pain my head could undergo before I smashed it into the wall.

Alrighty. Hope you enjoy and let's pray to whatever Gods that this doesn't become a cringe fest.

I - Excitement and Regrets

July 16, 2164

Mustafu, Japan

It was a bright sunny day in Mustafu. The weatherman predicted a much needed span of holiday worthy weather after an intense heatwave. Families finally got out of their houses and spent the evening in parks while children were finally allowed to play outside. This was a day of relaxation and enjoyment. However for a certain family, relaxation was the last thing on their minds.

A certain green-haired four year old was bouncing on the worn out seats of the city's many cabs.

"Are we there yet?" He asked once more to a woman sitting beside him. She smiled with amusement, her dark-green locks framing her face.

"You do know asking me won't make you get there any faster?" She said, a light smile playing on her lips.

"But I can't wait! I'm gonna finally know my quirk!" He said, a grin stretching across his face.

"I can't wait either Izuku. Unfortunately none of us have a time-manipulating quirk now do we?" She said, wincing immediately after saying that, knowing the rant that was going to ensue.

"A time-manipulating quirk would be so cool! Imagine if that's actually my quirk mom! I could rewind stones off of people and I could zip around!" He said giggling and bouncing once more.

"A time quirk is very, very, very rare," She said poking him on the stomach with every 'very' and making him laugh once more, "and most quirks are a slight mutation of their family."

"But what if-" Izuku began once more, ready to prove his point once more before stopping when he realised the cab had stopped. The building that loomed before him bustled with people going in and out. A sign on top said in bold, 'Mustafu General Hospital'. He had finally arrived. He almost catapulted himself from the cab before being held back by his mother. He jumped up and down, waiting for his mother to pay the driver before dragging her to the entrance. This was the start. The day when he would begin his path as a hero.

Okamura Toshiaki was not having a good day. When he had been taken in as a recruiter, he had thought that this would merely be a side-job. Just tell the authorities about any interesting quirks he found and that was it. But he had never thought that working for the government would go not only against the law, but against his morals as well. As a rising star in the field of medicine, he had always been commended for his strict moral code. While others took backdoors to success he worked his way up, slowly but steadily. And when others had fallen, he had stood up on his hard work.

That all had changed when a government official had approached him. He still remembered the day when his life had taken a small but drastic turn.

— Two months earlier, (May 10, 2164) —

"You want me to do what?!" He had said while getting up, angered by the fact that this person who claimed he was from the government dared to ask him to break confidentiality.

"Please remain calm Mr. Toshiaki. If you could take a breath and see past the obvious disadvantages you would realise that it has merits of its own." The man had said. He had been and continued to remain as an enigma to him. His tall stature and broad shoulders towered above him.

"Merits in breaking the trust of my patients?" He had said.

"Yes. In that. Let's talk about your patients shall we?" He had said, unruffled by his anger.

"Most of your patients are those who have used their quirk in public, illegally or simply have destructive quirks which they struggle to contain."

"...That is true."

"Now, in the event that you accept our offer, you'd be reassigned as a Quirk Specialist, mainly in the paediatric department. This also means that you meet those who in the future might become your patients."

"In the event that you find an unawakened quirk that may cause harm, a latent quirk that requires drastic measures to awaken it or anything out of the norm, you report to us."

"And what then?"

"We'll give you instructions on how to proceed. And no, they will not be against the law. Your job extends as long as they are in your office. Not a step more."

He had stayed quiet, pondering over the situation. He had never liked seeing people in pain, even if they were his main source of income.

The man had continued, maybe reading his inner struggle, "For the greater good doctor. The greater good."

He had sighed, accepting the offer and raising his hand for a handshake, "For the greater good."
