hopefully you like this next chapter, it gets a little exciting... so yeh.. um.. I didn't say this is the first chap but I DO NOT own any Marvel characters.
It was rough going at first but once she got the hang of it, riding a motorcycle wasn't actually that difficult. She stayed on back roads mostly, just in case. She didn't want anyone calling the police because they saw a seven year old driving a motorcycle. She stopped at a department store that had closed two hours prior and figured she'd stay the night there and figure out what to do in the morning. She parked her bike behind the store and broke in through an open window in the docking station. Amy, tired as she was, could've just curled up and fallen asleep right then and there but she forced herself to stay awake long enough to find her way to the furniture department. Amy stifled a yawn and dropped her backpack on the couch before sitting down next to it. She was asleep even before she hit the cushions.
Amy was awake around seven the next morning, not wanting to spend unnecessary time sleeping, though it was hard to make herself get up. She got back on the road and moving in minutes. Amy fiddled with the controls until she found a good radio station, playing something she actually liked, but when she looked back up she saw a big black car swerving all over the place and into her lane. Amy didn't even have time to react. She tried to turn out of the way but there was only so far she could turn without going off a cliff into the water. The car hit her, sandwiching her left side between the car door and her own cycle. She screamed in both fear and pain, her shoulder smashing into the other vehicle's side window. He swerved again and shoved her off the road, over the cliff edge and tumbling down to the water bank.
Thankfully Lieutenant Colonel James Rhoades was on his way to Stark Industries at just that moment and saw her fall. He successfully stopped the rouge car and skidded down the cliff as quickly as possible to see who had fallen. He suppressed a gasp when he saw her lying there. Her bottom half submerged in the icy water which had the red hue of blood lingering around it.
"Melia?" He asked, crouching next to her in the rocky sand.
She opened her mouth but he ordered her to be quiet and she closed it. He saw the bike laying next to her. Tony's bike. And the packed bag that was hanging lopsided on her shoulders. He made the connection and realized she had tried to run away. Amy suddenly choked and coughed up bloody water into the sand.
"Okay, Amy, I'm going to get you some help alright?" He said, calling 911.
After Amy was out of the emergency room it was almost afternoon and Rhoadey had left already though he assured her he would've stayed if he could.
Amy sat down hard on the couch, feeling Pepper's eyes on her.
"I'm sorry!" She blurted when she couldn't stand it anymore, "it's just that dad's always got his stupid girlfriends and somehow they're more important than me! I can't stand it! I don't want to be here anymore!"
"I'm not mad." Pepper replied, ignoring her outburst. Amy looked up with teary eyes, "I toatally understand why you left, Tony is a jerk-"
A voice came behind them, "I'm what?"
Pepper sighed, "you know it's true, don't you dare deny it."
Tony shrugged, "you're right."
"Yes, I am." She said and turned back to Amy but suddenly stopped, "hold on, did you just agree with me?"
"Well, see you later!" He said, heading for the door.
"Mr. Stark, you were supposed to be gone already."
"Yeah, cause he's both lazy, and a jerk." Amy grumbled, which earned her a glare from both her parents.
"Don't forget your keys!" Pepper called and Tony stopped, patting his pockets.
"Keys…" he muttered, "where did I leave those keys… uh… Pep, where are my keys?"
"Kitchen counter." Pepper said, getting up, grabbing his keys on the way by and handing them to him. "Don't forget the MIT commencement speech-"
"Still in June." Tony said, annoyed with her for bringing it up again.
Pepper sighed. "Will that be all Mr. Stark?"
Tony nodded, "that will be all Miss Potts."
"Have fun in Afghanistan." Amy mumbled under her breath, "we won't miss you." Tony left, somewhat annoyed, and Pepper went back to sit by Amy.
"He does love you Amy." She said, tucking a lock of dark auburn hair behind her daughter's ear.
Amy shook her head, sliding away from Pepper, "he doesn't! That's the problem!" And she stormed out of the room.
Later that night…
Amy was in the workshop, putting together a Stark pistol from memory since Tony locked her out of his computers, calling it the "baby gate protocol". Not that she couldn't just hack her way in but she was tired and didn't want to put in the effort. Her cell phone started ringing and she lifted her head, not realizing she'd fallen asleep on the job. "What…?" She muttered, seeing it was from her dad. Tony had only called her… maybe twice in the past seven years. She pressed answer and was immediately greeted by her father.
"Hey kid." He said, "is Pepper there?" Rude. Amy thought.
"If you wanted to talk to mom you should've called her, not me." Amy yawned, "have you any idea what time it is?"
"About two thirty I think." Tony said, glancing at his smartwatch.
"Try three a.m." Amy mumbled sleepily. Briefly noting that he was eleven hours ahead. "Sometimes I really don't… like you…"
"Melia!" Tony said loudly and Amy was startled awake, realizing she'd dozed off.
"So, I assume your demonstration went well, blowing stuff up and whatnot."
He nodded and flipped his camera so she could see Rhoadey waving at her. She grinned and would've waved if he could've seen her.
"Goodnight Rhoadey!" She called weakly, though he probably wouldn't go to bed until she was awake again. He nodded politely to her before going to talk to some military guy. Tony flipped the screen again, "I'll be back tomorrow okay?" He winked, "I'm sure you miss me."
Amy scowled, "Um, no." She looked disgusted, as if the very thought offended her, "you can stay there as long as you want and I won't mind."
Now it was his turn to be offended and he looked away for a moment, unsure how to respond.
"Night dad." She said, not really meaning it. This time though she managed to hang up before she fell asleep again.
