Good Afternoon y'all!
here's the next chapter, a little bit longer, hopefully a pretty good one... I personally really like it for reasons y'all don't know yet.
plz review and happy reading!!
Amy sat in the corner of her cell, hugging her knees to her chest. She'd woken up an hour prior, hungry, cold, and wearing the worst color in the world. Orange. She threw a small rubber ball she'd found on the floor, bouncing it off the walls. Amy heard the lock on the door release and shestood, gripping the ball like a weapon. Pepper walked into the cell, her shoes clicking on against the floor.
"Mom!" Amy exclaimed, dropping the ball and rushing into her mother's open arms.
"Please tell me what they're saying is false?"
Amy shrugged, "that depends, are they saying I'm amazing and toatally the coolest Stark in the world?"
Pepper hid a smile, "not exactly."
Amy went completely serious, "what are they going to do to me?" She just wanted to go home, she wanted things to be normal again, even if her normal was awful it was better than prison. Slightly.
Pepper's expression softened, "they're not going to hurt you, I promise." She kissed her daughter's cheek and wiped a stray tear from her eye. "I have to go, they want proof that your innocent... But they're also looking for proof confirming you're guilty."
"I'm not!"
"I know." Pepper said, "but I also don't believe that Obadiah would hurt you."
A crease formed between Amy's brows, "You let him out?!"
"Not me personally, no." Pepper responded, confused.
Amy was furious, "why would you allow them to do that?!?!"
"Honey, Obadiah isn't the bad guy here." Pepper said, her hands on Amy's shoulders, "he's trying to help us. He wants Tony back as much as we do."
Amy scoffed, "we? He can stay missing for all I care."
"Amilia, you don't mean that." Pepper insisted.
Amy shoved her mother away, "leave me alone! I don't need your help!"
Pepper didn't know what to say, she just stood there, her mouth slightly ajar for a moment, before turning and storming out of the room. In the split second beforethe door closed, Amy threw the ball and it lodged between the door and the wall.
"Yes!" Amy exclaimed in soft tones, crouch-running to the door. She peered out into the hall, making sure the coast was clear. She turned the corner and found a tray with all her stuff on it. A smile spread across her features and she pocketed her small collection of items. Her wallet, a pack of bubble gum, and her StarkTech earpiece. Amy slid on her earpeice and popped a peice of gum in her mouth.
"Jarvis." She said, walking around a corner but quickly turning back as an agent passed her unknowingly. "Jarvis, you there?"
A short jingle played in her ear, telling her the device was booting up and pairing with her home interface."Yes Miss, what's the situation?" He knew perfectly well what the situation was, it was all over the news, but he knew his boss liked to talk so he allowed her to fill him in.
"Let's see, where do I start? We're escaping a S.H.I.E.L.D base after being falsely suspected of murder and.." she ducked into a small alcove, waiting for agents to pass by. "I need you to find me an exit." She finished.
Jarvis waited with programmed patience until she was finished and finally replied with, "there's an exit on the fourth floor and a stairwell down the hallway in front of you and to the right."
"Thanks J." She muttered and ran off, taking the stairs two at a time until she came to a large door labeled"exit". She glanced behind her and saw agents running up the stairs after her, their boots clanking heavily on the steps. Amy shoved open the door and ran, her heart pounding, her feet sore. And it got worse as a stick punctured the sole of her foot and she shrieked, but had to keep going. The tunnel had let out in a forest, thick with trees. Definitely not the way they went in, it was like a maze in there.
"Jarvis!" Amy screamed, as non-lethal bullets whizzed passed her. "I need an exit!" The Stark helicopter stopped overhead and dropped a rope ladder. Amy jumped and grabbed onto it as an arrow landed in the dirt where her feet were seconds before. She briefly thought, who still uses a bow an arrows? Legolas? Before climbing up into the chopper.
"Miss, are you alright?" Jarvis asked.
Amy panted, "yes, thank you."
"Miss it's on every news station, it'd be best if you-" there was a pause, "miss?"
She was out cold. A blow dart stuck in her side.
When Amy came to she was laying on something soft and velvety, her surroundings unfamiliar. "Happy, where are we?" She asked, drowsily, seeing as Happy was always around she naturally just assumed.
"Your bodyguard isn't here." Came an Irish accent she didn't know. "Here, drink this." A face came into view and a glass was held to her lips.
"Who are you?" Amy asked, pushing herself up and holding her head as it ached.
"That's not important," he replied, nodding to the door, "Stark Industries has been infiltrated."
"J, buddy, you there?" The girl asked, flinching as she heard gunfire and cries of pain from the other side of the door.
"Yes miss," came an English accent in her ear, and continued, knowing what she was going to ask next. "The unidentified infiltrators are on the first and second floor, the third floor is currently safe but gaurds are stationed in the elevators and stairways. They've taken control of the mainframe and-" ...
Amy waited a beat,"Jarvis...?" She looked up at the boy who had supposedly saved her, "Jarvis is offline."
Amy and the boy simultaneously ran their fingers through their hair, the boy's a dark raven black, and her's deep auburn.
What was with all these life threatening situations all of a sudden?
"If I can fix Jarvis we can get help." Amy said hurriedly, turning to the boy, "it'd be really helpful to know your name."
"Thomas Beckett." He said, holding out a hand to her, she shook it and responded, "Amy Stark."
"Pleasure to make your acquaintance." Thomas said and they threw open the doors.
They both knew this was probably suicide but what else were they supposed to do? Neither of them were going to sit and wait to be rescued. They ran anddodged swinging arms that tried to catch them.
"Thomas!" Amy shouted, yanking him away from a group of armedAgents, "whoare these people?!" She demanded, sneaking along the corridor.
"I..." His pale face went red with embarrassment, "I'm not sure."
Amy sighed,"C'mon, there's a stairwell this way." And he followed her until they came to a door labeled with a picture of a stick figure walking upstairs. "We can either get to my laptop that's in dad's office, or we could go directly to the mainframe and fix that." Amy explained as they acended the staircase. "It should be easier to get to the office since it's just up here."
"I had come to the same conclusions." Thomas said truthfully as they pushed through the doors onto the third floor.
Amy glanced to her left and saw more agents. "Tom..." She whispered under her breath, "make a break for it." And they set off running. They were nearly there, guards directly behind them. Thomas stole a glance back and his eyes went wide.
"Amy!" He shouted, shoving her away. She turned just as he stepped in front of her, two prongs puncturing his back. A taser in the agent's hand. He fell to the ground, his pained eyes staring up at Amy helplessly as his body convulsed on the floor. Amy watched in horror before boltingput of the room as fast as she could. What else was she supposed to do?
Amy ran into the room labeled, "Anthony E. Stark" and quickly located her laptop on the desk. "Perfect." She muttered, to no one in particular. With lightning fast fingers she hacked into the Stark Industries mainframe and booted the J.A.R.V.I.S. program back up. It was almost finished when the doors burst open and there were shouts of, "get her!" And "restrain the girl!"
Amy looked up at them, eyes wild with fear. "Sorry dad." She muttered, purposefully knocking over a bottle of expensive alcohol, causing it to shatter and spill everywhere. Amy took her dad's lighter out of his desk drawer and hurriedly turned it on, sliding it into the puddle, turning, and running. The room shook as she threw her arms up to shield her face as she jumped through the glass window, cutting herself in several places. She windmilled her arms and legs, she hadn't thought this far ahead. Amy Stark was going to become a grease spot on the sidewalk, everyone would forget her, and her grandfather's legacy would probably go to some rando. Okay... Maybe not that extreme, but still. She was falling from a third story window. Amy screamed, squeezing her eyes shut.
She tucked herself into a ball and braced herself for landing. But it didn't hurt as much as she imagined, in fact... It hardly hurt at all. Amilia opened her eyes and found herself laying in a net. Happy was standing over her, reaching for her hand. Amy just lay there, hugging her knees and trembling.
"We need to get you out of here Miss Stark." Nathaniel said, standing beside Happy.
Amy nodded, taking his hand and getting up. They hustled her into the limo where she sat, staring out the front window like she couldn't believe that just happened.
just a quick reminder to review and help me come up witht he next chapter in which I will "time skip" and have Tony back... probably.
